lindsayward
Hi. I just plugged my JTV-59 into my POD HD500 using the VDI cable, and I got a green light under the tuning knob (the model knob was the usual orange colour). Monkey didn't recognise that it was there. Pressing or rotating knobs didn't do anything, so I unplugged and replugged and it went normal. I'm not fussed as there's no ongoing problem, but I've never seen a green light on the guitar before. Has anyone else had this or does anyone know what the green light is for?
lindsayward
I guess no one's seen this before then..? I've also had no sound recently - unplug/replug fixes the problem.
psarkissian
Sounds like you got it into some sort of "save mode" or held down one of the knobs too long and it went into some sort of mode. If need be, and you want to get into a factory default set of settings, the re-Flash the unit using Monkey. Otherwise, your probably fine. I've serviced hundreds of these and the only time I see LED's light up in other than the usual colors, is when it's in some programming or save mode. Which is something I never need to use, since I use it as is and don't do much custom stuff. Sounds like you're okay now. Contact Line 6 support if that should change. lindsayward
Thanks psarkissian. I thought it might be a special mode... I was hoping someone had seen it before and knew exactly what it was. I had not been pushing any buttons down though - just plugged it in. I will re-flash if anything more strange persists. davidb7170
Not exactly the same, but I had a weird experience with my 59 on my last gig. I have the 69S & the 59 that I use at gigs -- broken string backup & such. I was using my 69S all night with my HD500X, then the last set I switched to my 59, and when messing with it noticed the model knob wouldn't light up -- could not get it to shift into the models. I use the VDI cable, and probably 80 - 90% of the time, use the mags, but for certain songs have models auto selected by the patch. The HD500X was fine, and the 59 was sending good mag signal digitally down the VDI cable, and such, but would not switch on the models with the knob. In the particular song we were doing, I just switch the guitar manually into the models, but it wouldn't go... I did not stop to try a patch with the HD500X selecting the model, as we were in the middle of starting up a song... I thought it might be having the "model knob slid down on the shaft" issue I've read about in the forums, so I switched back to my 69S and finished the gig. The next day at home I set up my gear and tried the 59, and it worked fine. No model knob slippage and has been fine ever since. What I think happened was the 59 did not initialize properly for some reason when I plugged the VDI cable into it at the gig. What I should have done was unplug and plug it back in to see if it would straighten up. My guess is it would have.... These JTV guitars are basically sound shaping computers. If they don't start up right, it can lead to odd states of operation... My 2 cents. Dave
Telbull
My JTV 69 is only a month old and today noticed that the that the selector knob was not lighting up,then after a bit of pressing it came on Blue, I am trying to re load firmware but it keeps failing to upload to the guitar , now the knob is green ! I am recharging the battery just in case that's an issue, There were three greens on the back of the guitars power indicator. I also noticed that when I stared both lights on the USB hub were green , but before removing the battery one of the lights had turned red, Anyone have any ideas? what do the various colours LEDs indicate? is it a fault code? I have now successfully upgrade the firmware, but selector switch still not working properly, even though the LED is back to white. I shall get in touch with Line 6 tomorrow. Papaya269
Hi, new JTV 59 owner here, I also am suffering from the green light issue.... makes any performance stressful... has anyone found the cause and cure? Only happens with VDI cable into HD500X....
psarkissian
Sure it's not a blue light? Press on the Alt Tune and there's a second layer of models to cover things like 12 string guitars and such. There is an RGB LED set under the knobs. Green would be something other than normal Models, like a saved Model.
Papaya269
Nope, definitely green. I’m familiar with the regular light colour for positions 1-3-5 as well as the alternate blue colour for 2-3-4. Also when it’s green turning the knobs has no effect. Only way to reset is unplugging vdi cable and plugging it back in.
psarkissian
If you have any custom patches, save them,... then re-Flash the guitar for v2.23 program.
Papaya269
Thanks, will do. May also be faulty cable I just purchased through Amazon (Line 6 Cable from authorized US dealer). I’ve asked for a return authorization since reversing the cable between the JTV59 and HD500X seems to resolve the issue. I suspect a faulty end on the cable. If faulty end connected to the guitar and I move, issue. If connected to HD500X, it doesn’t move, no issue...
psarkissian
I concur with your assessment regarding the cable,... something odd there.
Papaya269
If I run into issues with the return / replacement, may I contact you for further assistance?
Papaya269
The cable came in a plastic bag with a folded cardboard seal at the top that appeared to be Line 6 issue. I’ve always seen this cable advertised with a cardboard wrap around packaging. Could the cable I was sold have been used or a returned item? psarkissian
Returned item,... maybe. We don't wrap in bag. Do you have the web link where you got it from?
Papaya269
It was bought from Amazon.ca. The vendor is TheWorldShop. I can send picture of packaging if required. If you do a search for TheWorldShop in google they show up under Amazon.ca. Package was shipped from USA as per original packaging which I kept. psarkissian
2019,... hmmm, must be new packing, hadn't seen these yet. If it's a failed cable, try to get it exchanged.
