Silver I agree the HD500 as it sits is a good value. However, it is a flawed product!!!! That could be enhancde to realize its potential. -
So We're About A Week Out From The Firmware Anniversary Give Or Take...

I really think there are two questions: 1. When will they announce a Firmware Change. 2. When will they release a Firmware Change. There could easily be 9 months between question 1 and question 2. -
Which Amp To Add To Pod X3live And Jtv?
jcosta_sr replied to ezaz's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
I have a JTV, HD500 and L2t. I can't tell you how happy I am with the L2t. I would recomend the L2t(m) to anyone who has bought into modeling. FRFR is great if you can find it. I have been chasing a true FRFR systems and modeling for at least 10 years. Since I completed the dream rig with the L2t, I can sya I am completely satisfied. Buy it you won't be disappointed. -
I do not organize my patches. They get put in slots as they are created. The reason for this......I use an app for the iPad called set list maker. http://www.arlomedia.com/apps/setlistmaker/main/home.html it allows you to catalog your songs and then put them into set lists. One of the attributes of the Song is a midi command that you can create that will select the patch you want on your pod. So, with my iPad in place. When ever I touch the song in the setlist it selects the patch. So, I have ultimate flexibility.

Ok - I own an HD500. For many reasons I am thinking of buying an HD Pro x. Before I pull the trigger I started thinking about how long the HD archetecture will last before it is replaced. The X factor is essentially the same archetecture with more power. So how long do you think before HD is replaced. 1 year, 2 years maybe three. HD has been out almost 2 years right?

What's Your Favorite Acoustic?
jcosta_sr replied to Melissiah's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I used to think the same thing, only the Gibson and Guild 12 were usable. However, I just bought the L2t and I love all my acoustics. IMHO, anyone bought into modeling (ie PODs) trying to play through a guitar amp is missing the boat. Play through a true FRFR like the L2t and get your socks knocked off. -
Hey Jason, First of all welcome to the good and the bad of modeling. While you have all these wonderful patches available to you, amps and fx. It all depends on what you are playing it through and a what volume. Creating and tweaking a patch with headsets is very convient to do at home the problem is that the headset have a frequency response similar to an FRFR rig. While your alto live rig has a different frequency response. Hence, the difference. Also, there is a long standing law of accoustics that states as the volume changes so does the apparent frequency response of the listener. What that means is that if you take your live rig and create a patch at a low level. Then crank it up to practice levels the tone/sound will change. I'm sure that the headphones you are listening to are not at practice leve After I figured the above out. I realized that there was 2 levels or passes of creating a patch. First, I would sit at home and select the amp and the fx and do some basic tweaking. Then at practice I would listen as I play and either make changes on the fly or after practice. After a while a patern started to unwind. I usually had too much mix of the fx, most notably reverb and delay. Also, I found that I was adding too much drive to distortion. Then lastly almost all of patches were too bright with either too much treble or presence. I hope this helps.

Pod Hd Pro X/l2m And Master Volume
jcosta_sr replied to Zinc_Kovacs's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
Afterglow - I have a HD500 into a L2t via Link 6. The same thing happended to me. I posted the same question at the POD HD forum and was told the the Master Volume indeed is disabled in the Link configuration. So, the way that I had configured my patches I had to set the Volume of L2t to 1 barely audible or else it was way to loud. Quickly I booted up my computer connected it to the POD and subtracted 6 db on every patch I have (It took about 1 hour). Now, my accoustic patches are around 6 db and my electric patches are around 0 db. Once I did that I could adjust the volume on the L2t. Then the love started...........I love the L2t. -
Congrats, I just completed my rig as well. You will be amazed at how good it sounds...... One cautionary note. Set the volume level of the L2t to 1 or 2 before you power up. Remember you are using 800 w. Also, know that the master volume on the POD is disabled. So the only way to control overall volume is at the L2t master volume. I got mine on thursday and gigged on saturday. When I got it up and running, after blowing out my eardrums. It took me awhile to accept that the master volume was disabled. Once I understood that feature, I created a two fold plan. 1. To get my patches at a level that the L2t could use and not be too loud I lowered every patch by 6db 2. Then I went to individual patches and fixed some obvious issues, The good L2t's clarity will really highlight problem patches. For the first time i have really heard fizz. Good luck

Dream Rig With Stagesource Speaker
jcosta_sr replied to mayopat's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
I just completed the Dreamrig by purchasing an L2t (JTV-69, HD 500, L2t). I recieved it last Thursday and played it Saturday at a gig. I have never been so excited, out of the gate, after buying a piece of equipment and using it for the first time. First the ease of setup. It took me only 10 minutes to be ready for our gig. The L2t is so easy to haul. It wasn't cumbersome like a 4-12 cabinent, a Marshal head or even a 50w combo 2-12. The handle was beefy and the small package was well balanced. When playing, the clarity of sound cut through the mix, regardless of the patch. Accoustic tones were precise and and very nuanced, there is no doubt it was an accoustic guitar. I also, played an electric mandolin through my same accoustic pathes. Amazing. The chourus on the electric guitars tones shimmer and and when you want to get dirty the growl is throaty and has balls. Whats is most impressive is the way the rig lets you play the dynamics, close your eyes and you can feel the "amp and guitar", just amazing. I love my JTV and HD. But I will never give up my L2t -
Ok, for anyone migrating to an L2t. Turn the volume on tHe L2t all the way down to 1. You are most likely going from a 50w tube solution to a 800 w class D amp. When You hit that irst chord you will shatter your ear drums. Giving a guitarist 800 w is dangerous. :-)

I just got a L2t. When the L2t is connect to the 500 via Link 6, the Master Volume is disabled. The only way you can change the over all volume is to adjust the master volume on the L 2t. Is this right? Is there a way to enable the master volume?

Try a Line 6 l2m

JTV --> 500 --> L2t Would you stand the L2t on the floor? How about a PA Tripod? You could lay it on its side in an Amp stand? Either way its a mono system. From an aesthetic perspective the L2t looks pretty cool in the amp stand Any thoughts?

I am excitedly waiting for my L2t to arrive. I have a quick question. Is it as easy as connecting the L2t via the Link 6? I mean, is there anything else I need to do? Will my existing patches work? I understand that I will have to tweek them, but will they work? Will I have to spend time futzing around to get it configured? Or can I assume that after I connect via Line 6 I can play? Will I get a half way decent sound right out of the box.

I have just completed the buying of the dream rig. I am hoping that there are preset patches for this configuration that optimizes the L2t. I haven't seen very many threads on this. If there are please point me in the right direction.
