  1. Hi there, I am a guitarist who accidentally also plays bass (or at least tries to). I've got a POD HD500, which I also use as the audio device for my Windows 10 computer. I also have a Bass Pod XT, and my DAW is Cubase 8.5. I'm wondering what's the best way to set this all up. So far I've plugged my bass guitar into the Bass POD, which I connected to the POD HD500 (simply DI Out to Guitar In), which then goes to the computer via USB. That doesn't work very well. First of all, you always have to select a preset (or at least something) to get the bass sound through the HD500, so you get double processing - from the Bass POD and the HD500. I'd like it to be just the sound from the Bass POD (as it's meant for bass, and the HD500 is a guitar-thing). The way I do it now, leads to a very easily distorted and kinda 'light' bass sound - not what you want from a bass guitar. Until now I haven't hooked up the Bass POD via USB to the computer, because I'm afraid this will lead to a (driver) conflict: I use the HD500 also as my general computer audio driver. So how can I tell Cubase that for this particular track (the bass track that I want to record), it needs to use a different USB-driver? I've also tried to plug the bass straight into the HD500, but as I said: it's a guitar thing, it just doesn't sound right for bass. Or are there special presets for bass I just didn't find yet? Also, I've noticed that you can buy special bass stuff - I'm just not sure if they are suitable for my HD500 and my needs. So, what should I do? Bass POD by USB? Buy the bass stuff for the HD500 and get rid of my Bass POD? What will give me the best and easiest results? Every suggestion is more than welcome! All the best, keep rocking, Bas, Amsterdam
  2. Hi Ravyn, I justed talked to this guy who owns music electronics-shop in Amsterdam, and he had some rather harsh advice: start over. Install Windows again, install Cubase again and all the plugins et cetera. In his expercience looking for the conflicting driver is a matter of needle/haystack, and in 99 percent of the cases amounts to nothing except that it takes a lot of time (or better said: money). A complete reinstall will probably take me days, but then again: this madness has been going on for weeks now and has already cost me more anger and frustration than I can handle. So I'm afraid I'm going to spend the next couple of days installing stuff ('Insert disc 5 now...'). I went from Windows XP (can you believe it?) straight to 8. Things worked fine for a long time, and the fact you (and thousands of other people, undoubtedly) are working happily with 8 now, tells me it isn't a structural Windows-problem. But there obviously is this one thing, or this one program you should NOT install, or else. Now if only I could find out which one that is... Wish me luck!
  3. Hi Ravyn, Thanks for taking the time to answer! And too bad you didn't have a 'simply do this and all your problems will be solved' kind of answer. ;-) I suppose I will have to follow your example and try to find someone who knows his way around this mess. I know by now it has something to do with conflicting drivers, but in the end, I'm just a musician that tries to use computers, and not an IT-guy. I've been using computers since, well, since they're here, but a lot of this stuff is way beyond my computer-abilities. It's like a car: I want to drive it, and don't feel I need to know everything about crankshafts and pistonheads to do just that. So now I need to find the right car-mechanic... If somebody has a tip for a great mechanic in the Amsterdam-neighborhood, I'd be most grateful: I want to drive!
  4. I have the exact same problem, on Windows 8, 8.1 and now also on 10. The BSOD's are getting more frequent and more varied: apart from the 'System Thread not Handled' and the IRQ-thingy, I also get 'Bad Pool Header' and 'K-Mode Exception not Handled'. It's driving me nuts. Has anyone of you ever found a way around this..?
  5. Hi Ravyn, Just wondering: did you ever get a reply on this or better still: have you found a solution for your problem? I've got the exact same problem: I've seen those error codes a lot lately, among others like 'Bad Pool Header' and 'K-Mode exception not handled'. It's driving me nuts. So, looking for a solution, I stumbled upon your post. Hope you figured it out in the meantime! Bas Amsterdam, The Netherlands
