  1. Oh man, that just reminded me...Amplitube 4 has a great 4 track looper and AT has MIDI learn. I have AT running in my Windows 10 Dell Venue 11 Pro tablet PC i5 8gb. A little nervous to rely on Windows for a gig, but may be worth exploring. Thanks again.
  2. Cool. Appreciate the updates! I know it may or may not be desireable, but does just running Helix 1/4" left output mono into the guitar input come through both the horn and the 12"? I realize that it may not come through the 6" coax speakers, but I could be okay with that. It would simplify live hookup, and I may not even miss the coax stereo in a live situation. This would just make FH about the same 12" + 1" horn format as the other FRFR solutions (Friedman ASM12, Matrix FR12, etc.), but of course give you a whole other HD modeller for backup, and 6" coax stereo if you really wanted to use them.
  3. Thanks man. I'm sure the Google Photos issues are user error. I'll figure it out I'm excited. Using it on a medium sized bar gig this weekend. I hope I get enough stage spread for the other bandmates and don't overpower FOH since we are using our JBL Eon PA. I didn't put guitar in monitors on our small PA previously. But I will be open to it now. May end rotating the top or bottom speaker into the center stage a bit.
  4. Those come up in eBay from time to time for $200 or so. I could possibly use it for other Helix instant access things too. But maybe you're right. I guess I could put a looper in a Helix send/return block and still stay in the Helix the routing. I have an old Boss RC-2 with the external fs pedals I could test with.
  5. They are in Picasa, which is now Google Photos. I can see them, but maybe because I am logged into google. Weird. I just went to an In Private tab and couldn't see them. Guess I need to find a different way to post photos.
  6. Cleaned up, buttoned up, and ready to rock! https://goo.gl/photos/DkPAeBGRkoDPxvF29
  7. Just worked through this on another thread and did some research. Cry Baby + $11 Dunlop 10k Linear wah/volume pot = Mission EP1-L6 - cool L6 & Mission graphics. http://line6.com/support/topic/21821-modding-a-cry-baby-to-make-an-expression-pedal/ I see a few used ones on eBay for $25-$50 if you dont already have 3 old ones lying around ;) But maybe you just want one ready to go, no soldering required.
  8. Bummer. Saw some on eBay too FYI. Good luck on your pot hunt! You're saving about $120 over the Mission EP1-L6 for almost exactly the same thing. You don't get the cool Line 6 logo though ;)
  9. Well, this is not a Dunlop, but should work. Price is in Euros. Looks like Banzai Music is in Germany. https://www.banzaimusic.com/GNA-ICAR-10k-lin-Wah-Pot.html
  10. I'm not sure if the Cry Baby wah pots are linear taper. I think they are something called S or sweep taper. I think this is the actual one in my Mission EP1-L6, and only $11. https://www.amplifiedparts.com/products/potentiometer-dunlop-10k-linear Pic of the Mission EP1-L6 Dunlop pot
  11. Is anyone using a small MIDI CC pedal for full time looper access and control? I was thinking about the old RJM Mastermind or something else small and under $300. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Mastermind? adpos=1o2&creative=103263529321&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=CjwKEAjwn7e8BRCUqZiP_vnrtBkSJAC_lp4H1Q2bYlwxPJph9-8tHSL0DAgGoyBtaZx_r9jDHA_usxoCvTXw_wcB Too bad you cant connect the Helix Rack controller to the Helix Floor processor for more stomps ;)
  12. Q: What are the specs for the Line 6 EX-1 Expression Pedal? A: The Line6 expression pedal is a passive 10K ohm mono linear taper pot, using a standard 1/4 inch mono instrument cable. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/general-faq/line-6-expression-pedal-ex-1-faq-r347 Q: What is different about the EP1-L6? A: The Mission EP1-L6 Pedals are designed explicitly to support Line 6 devices. They are wired Tip and Sleeve as opposed to Tip, Ring and Sleeve in most other expression pedals. The Line 6 expression interface is different to most others in this regard. The EP1-L6 requires only a regular mono guitar cable in place of the stereo TRS cables required by other pedals. The EP1-L6 uses a 10k linear potentiometer for accurate tracking on the Line 6 processors. Since the EP1-L6 is wired TS, it is not polarity sensitive and so no polarity switch option is available. http://missionengineering.com/?page_id=49
  13. Kool-Aid drinkin, Mission EP1-L6-user here back from my Pod HD500x days. Thank goodness it still worked with Helix. This was a good Expression Pedal thread a while back. http://line6.com/support/topic/21017-expression-pedal-options/?hl=expression+pedal
  14. I don't know if it's the characteristic of the Friedman 2x12, your IR process, or both. But these IR's really seem to let the character of any Helix amp model come through in a very familiar way for me coming from a Recto 212 rig. I am using Friedman 2x12 - RE20_2 and Friedman 2x12 - SM57_2o in parallel 50/50 mix and it sounds perfect to me in headphones and my ghetto Crate Powerblock / Crate PE12H PA speaker pair FRFR rig (upgrade coming soon I'm sure). It's not too big or too small sounding, and no offensive boxy, boomy, or harsh frequencies to adjust out. I could play everything all night on that IR mix, except acoustic guitar, synth, or lo-fi guitar patches. I'll take them into RW mixIR and do both mono mix and panned L/R (Edit: forgot Helix editor only takes the left side on import You gotta keep em separated). I'll try to get some clips up later for you. Maybe it's just the stage in my development or the group I play with with a mix of originals and covers, but I like keeping a fairly consistent basic guitar voice song to song and patch to patch rather trying to match the original guitar sounds exactly for every single cover I play. The band really keeps their own style with the covers too. I often don't personally like the guitar tone of the original. Changing Helix amps gives me plenty of variety and gets me in the same genre without changing my basic feel, which to me in Helix is the cab /IR. FWIW, I used to just run dual heads with my Mesa Mark V and Stiletto with a Tonebone VT head switcher into my Recto 212 and got a similar result. So the workflow of maintaining a global IR (pair) for all amps is familiar to me. I was just parking on a couple of my old Line 6 Spider Valve + Recto 212 IR's, but these have just replaced those.
  15. Yeah. I've played that Recto 212 for 10+ years with different heads. That particular sound and feel is ingrained in my subconscious. I choked when I first got Helix in January and couldn't replicate the same sound and feel. I then went on a mission to IR the heck out of that Recto and an SM57 as it was all I had, along with a few tube amps. I'm sure people here got tired of my posts..."Ugh...Recto Roscoe5 again?!?!" ;) I jumped on the 3sigma Recto 212 IR's, but didn't like those as much as the ones I made. I had used some very specific mic positions and angles, as well as my tube power sections from different amps. Over the last 6 months with Helix and other IR's, I think my ear has re-calibrated and my mind more open. It took a lot of mental deprogramming. Anyway, if a real Friedman 2x12 sounds like your IR's, I probably should have switched from a Mesa Recto 2x12 to a Friedman 2x12 long ago. Ah well, too late now that Helix is center of my guitar universe. I'm happy with the virtual one you created.
  16. Posting this out of pure curiosity. I absolutely love the new Helix Cali IV models. I just remembered that Amplitube 4 has a Mesa-certified Mark IV model with all of the push-pull and switch features of the original. Now I REALLY want to do a 3-way shootout of the Helix, AT4, and Mark V Ch3 MkIV mode all into the same cab sim. Now I have to decide which cab sim would be the best for comparison...a 3rd party IR, a Helix Cab, or the certified Mesa Cab in AT4. I suppose since this is a Helix forum, I could start by routing everything through a Helix Cab. If I have the time and interest from everyone, I could do a 3x3 matrix comparision of each of the 3 amp sims into each of the 3 cab sims, 9 sound clips in all.
  17. The big Volume Knob controls overall level on both 1/4" out and XLR out exclusively by default. If you change the 1/4" output assignment to say Exp 3, the Volume knob still seems to keep global overall control and Exp 3 makes relative level changes. So watch out for that. I'm seriously considering using the Phones out to my stage rig as I type and leaving the Helix patch outputs to Multi to give me global stage rig volume control without affecting FOH volume. It would be nice if Phones knob was available for Helix output parameter assignment other than headphones. But I can certainly reverse the logic and use the Phones output for stage.
  18. Oh good! At least a new problem is still progress ;) Yeah, you would need to merge the lower path back up. There is a little circle at the end of the bottom path you can click/drag back up to the XLR path to merge them back. Oh and I apologize. I first posted to Clear All Controllers which likely wiped the controller assignments to your other blocks. I edited the post to Clear Block Controllers on just the new Volume Blocks instead to try and catch you in time. It looks like you quoted my first post. Sorry for any inconvenience.
  19. Okay, downloaded 1st and tested. Works in headphones and 1/4" outs. I dont have anything handy for XLR in the room at the moment. But your split path and volume block is not in that patch. Link to the preset for reference http://line6.com/customtone/tone/2217080/ But looking at the screenshot reminds me of another possibility. You might make sure you didn't accidentally assign a controller to the Helix outputs. Gotta start work now. Morning Helix Board coffee time is over ;) I'll check back in later.
  20. In the volume blocks, under Controller Assign, try clicking Clear Block Controllers to see if somehow there is controller conflict with one of your other blocks. Looks like the default is Exp 2 on the Volume blocks. I see 4 Volume blocks, Pitch block, and a Wah block. That's a lot of potential pedal controller blocks. The sledgehammer test approach would be to copy your preset and click Clear All Blocks under Controller Assign. If the audio comes through, you would know for sure that was the issue and you can go back to your original patch and troubleshoot.
  21. I cant see an issue with your pathing to cause no signal on the bottom 1/4" path, unless like phil_m said, the bottom volume is set to 0%. Maybe post your patch to CustomTone and someone can try it. To your other question...If you want the exact same signal and effects to both your stage rig and FOH, here are a couple of quick second control options I have seen. Set a single path output to Multi in Helix and use the 1/4" stereo headphone out instead of 1/4" outputs to your stage rig. you may need a Y-splitter back at your rig. This lets you use the phones knob without having to do anything special in your patches. If you are not using Exp 3 on Helix with a full expression pedal, you can use a Big Knob type expression and assign Exp 3 to your 1/4" stage volume block http://this1smyne.com/shop/me-mini-expression-pedal/ (Line 6 10k mono model)
  22. That was an excellent demonstration of those phenomenons...thank you! FH1500 isn't totally off my FRFR wish list as 3 cables is not unreasonable (Line 6 just spoiled us with the 1 L6 link in the old dream rig). But I am still experimenting and learning about FRFR with my el cheapo Crate rig. Related to the video and unrelated to FH1500...maybe I should try a Helix Dual (stereo) Cab block and two IR's mixed and panned L/R in my vertical stereo stack of the two Crate PE 12H speakers and Powerblock rig. I haven't noticed any audio physics issues running mono through both, but a slightly different cab/IR in each while stacked behind me and me 8ft in front of them could be an improvement.
  23. Eh, we just went round and round on a couple of threads. I was really leaning toward FH1500. I would have been fine without the L6 Link as I have to go stereo cables to any other FRFR solution. But that's not the case. Helix + Firehawk seems to take 3 cables and some creative Helix patchwork to get signal to all 3 speakers, including the 1" horn which is a critical piece. I'm not sure if this is something that could be addressed in a Firehawk update, a creative FH patch, or something else. So to me, the L6 Stagesource speakers are still the best Line 6 FRFR offering for Helix. I had an L2m for Pod HD500x and didn't care for it. But I've had to level up on the sound engineering education for Helix, so it could have been user error. Wish I still had it now.
  24. It looks like they are doing 20% off today (it was 10% yesterday). This puts the amp and 2 monitors at $1248.
