  1. I'm still using Windows 10 so I haven't directly experienced how the dedicated POD software works on Windows 11. But from what I read in the specs of the aforementioned software in the DOWNLOAD section of this site they are all compatible with Windows 11. Having said that, I know that in the past some Windows 11 users have had problems with the PC recognizing the POD, and it was later discovered that the difficulty was due to Windows 11 security settings that blocked the regular installation/operation of the POD driver. The workaround was to disable "memory integrity" in Windows 11 security settings. Perhaps in addition to the wet sound you are also hearing the acoustic (and obviously uneffected) sound coming from your guitar, which is likely to happen if the speakers listening volume is very low and you are not using headphones.. Or it could be that the pitch glide effect (even if 100% wet) has been applied but only on one of the 2 parallel paths A or B and therefore you continue to hear also the sound coming from the uneffected path.. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  3. As has already been said, the firmware update is cumulative.   4. A harmonizer without a key signature setting wouldn't make any sense, so it's obvious that you're still seeing the same pitch shift effect in both screenshots. You're probably doing something wrong in how you actually select the effect you need.
  5. I don't know if you noticed that this thread is 7 years old.. Anyway to answer your question You can't get a clean sound from a single patch containing 2 hi gain amps. With the POD the only solution to obtain both the hi gain and clean sounds while remaining in the same patch (to avoid latency problems when changing the sound) is by assigning 1 hi gain amp to one channel and 1 clean amp to the other. I tend to use single amp model setups in most cases, and have tried the 2 amp combination only a few times, and when I did I followed the guidelines I wrote in my previous post, with excellent results but nothing which made me develop a clear preference for this method, given that I obtain excellent results already with single amps. Let's say that above all I consider the 2-amp method a way to obtain additional sounds rather than to correct problems. "meambobbo", the author of the guide you linked dedicated much of his study of the POD to dual cab configurations, especially for hi gain metal sounds, which he then published. I mainly play genres ranging from classic jazz to fusion to rock to blues to pop, I don't play metal even if sometimes I use typical sounds used in that genre. Generally I let my ears guide me a lot in building and setting needed patches based on my instrument and personal touch, loudness and room acoustics. As I have already said, the choice of cab and mic is the most decisive element in getting closer and obtaining the desired sound. The great importance given to the cab and mic is made even more evident nowadays by the thriving market of cab impulse responses IRs (which are nothing more than additional cab/mic models captured in different ways) that can be purchased and added to the most modern modelers. Exactly. The Global EQ was designed specifically to adapt the sound of all your saved patches to different live contexts.   7. Perhaps the author of the guide you mentioned intended to advise against the use of 2 amps, each different from the other. But in any case the only possible way to use dual cabs in the POD is by using dual amps, but if the 2 amps chosen are identical to each other but differ only in the mic and/or the cab it is exactly as if you were using a single amp with 2 different mics and/or cabs. The only disadvantage of this POD operation is that it consumes a lot of DSP resources and therefore few are left to add other effects, while with other more modern modelers it is possible to apply 2 mics and/or cabs to a single amp and therefore save DSP resources, to be used for other purposes. Regarding mic pairings, as I already mentioned in the previous post, it makes sense to combine mics that are complementary to each other, a darker sounding mic to give strength and body by acting on the bass and mid frequencies (for example ribbon mics), and a bright sounding mic (for example dynamic mics or slightly darker condenser mics) to give definition and the degree of brightness by acting more on the high-mid frequencies. In the mixer block it is then possible to find the best balance between the two channels created, the dark one and the bright one. If you then try to differentiate not only on the mics but also on the chosen cabs, the tones that can be obtained become many more. Certainly the patches for playing at gigs require different adjustments than those used at rehearsals or at home, due to the different perception of the sound at different volumes and also due to the acoustics/resonance of the environment in which you find yourself. The Global EQ that POD is equipped with can be useful for adapting the preset sounds to different situations. Both effects you applied to the amp model are bass eaters, both the Screamer and the Mid Focus EQ especially with default settings, so given your needs in the specific case I would avoid using them. To generally obtain a different balance between the frequencies, first of all I suggest trying different mics and/or different cabs, these are certainly the most influential parameters and with the most natural results. If you want to add an overdrive/distortion there are some models available in the category that cut the bass much less than the Screamer, for example the Tube Drive and the Line6 Drive which may be more suitable for the sound you are looking for. Creating a patch with 2 amps with complementary sounds (one darker and one brighter) to be balanced as you prefer via the mixer block could also be a good idea. I don't use the treadplate model often so I don't have detailed settings to suggest, but I would certainly do as suggested above to achieve the sound you describe. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  10. Internally beneath the footswitches are two separate rows of tactile switches. After disassembling them you could apply directly a good quality contact cleaner or even better isopropyl alcohol. If cleaning doesn't solve the problem then you need to replace the individual worn switches (which thing requires knowing how to solder/desolder properly) or more conveniently the entire rows of switches.   11. Line 6 24-12-0001 - 24-Step 25mm Encoder The rotary encoders under the display are worn out and need to be replaced. In a radioshack in your area look for "24 step encoder w/25mm shaft" like the one shown in the photo above, they cost very little.   12. IMO most likely the copper core inside the wire is broken, I assume in the area where the wire is usually most bent, i.e. near the plug that goes into the POD. If the power supply LED always stays on, it means that it works fine, but its wire conducts current only occasionally when the two broken ends make contact with each other. If the problem is the wire I suggest having it replaced, or shortening it a little on the plug side and reattaching the plug from there.   14. I suggest connecting the POD output to the RETURN (PWR IN on your amp) jack on your amp. By doing this you completely bypass the preamp (and all its controls) of your amp and use only the power amp and cabinet of your amp. Make sure the POD's 1/4" OUT switch near the pedal is set to LINE (since RETURN inputs typically expect LINE type signals). As regards the setting of the POD output mode for the above configuration, in theory the most appropriate one to choose would be COMBO POWER AMP but if you are thinking of enabling cabinet emulation (if you really need it since you already use a real cabinet) in your patches perhaps you might prefer STUDIO/DIRECT.   15. Basically you need to use the 4 cable method, usually explained for combo amps (i.e. with preamp and poweramp combined in the same unit) equipped with FX LOOP like in the above picture. The only difference following the 4CM scheme in your case is that your preamp and poweramp are separate devices, and therefore you have to use the output of your preamp and the input of your poweramp in place of the amp send and amp return respectively in the above scheme. I don't know if there are any for Mac (do a search if you want), but for PC there are programs (for example: Dexpot, free for personal use) capable of creating multiple virtual desktops, each with customizable resolution.   18. I remember a similar problem caused by a certain firmware version. Installing the new firmware fixed the problem.   23. The POD XLR outputs can only give a MIC level (i.e. low level) signal and for this reason must be connected to MIC-ready mixer channels, so the resulting volume can be as expected and not low. Instead, the 1/4" jack outputs can give a signal either at LINE level (i.e. high level) or at MIC/AMP level (low level) depending on the setting of the dedicated switch near the pedal.   24. The reset procedure (link here: After POD HD500X/500 Flash/Re-Flash/Update: MANDATORY Global Settings Reset! ) does not delete the presets already present nor does it add the factory ones. What it simply does is reset all general settings, including setlist names, to their default value, but without touching the presets. The only way to delete all the presets present and replace them with the factory ones in all the setlists is to answer "no" to the question asked during the firmware installation which asks if you want to keep the presets currently present. If your POD still works after installing the firmware, it means that you've completed the process correctly. Tip: To avoid BSODs, avoid setting POD as your operating system's audio interface and instead use the own settings of the programs you want to use POD as an interface. If you absolutely need to use POD as an operating system audio interface, first shut down your computer and then unplug POD.   25. The USB firmware is part of the device flash firmware and cannot be downloaded and installed separately. It is normal for the device to show V0.00 for USB on its display until the device is unplugged from the computer.
