  1. The Helix LT has all the features of the HD500X (double chain, a fair number of footswitches, onboard expression pedal, Variax connection and powering) and even more, the less expensive small brothers in the HX family (including the POD GO) all have something less (of the things mentioned above) than the HD500X, but their modeling engine is newer and more evolved, and they offer impulse response (IRs) loading for greater tonal variety. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  2. You can use a standard not powered expression pedal _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  3. The expression pedal is not like a volume pedal which in certain models could also be active (ie acting also as a clean preamp/booster), it works differently, it only serves to control the values of a parameter of an assigned effect and does so in a range that goes from a minimum to a maximum that the user can adjust, it never works directly on the audio signal as a volume pedal would. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  4. MULTI means that multiple effects are assigned to the same footswitch (FS6 in your particular preset). The word MULTI disappears when unassigning those different effects and only one remains assigned to the footswitch MULTI significa que se asignan varios efectos al mismo conmutador de pedal (FS6 en su caso). La palabra MULTI desaparece al desasignar los diferentes efectos y solo queda uno asignado al conmutador de pedal _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  5. What you described only happens when POD is connected to the computer with the editor open and it happens because the editor keeps track of all the changes that take place in all the patches loaded into the program, (even just turning an effect off or on is a change), so when you select a patch in the editor it recalls it in the state it was left in when it was last used during the current session. The advantage deriving from this behavior of the editor is to be able to edit several patches and then save them all together with a single command. POD behaves differently when disconnected from the editor, and does not keep track of any changes made to patches already used when selecting the next ones, in this case the only way to make the changes permanent is to manually save (directly on the device) each patch before selecting the next one.. So when POD is disconnected from the editor when a patch is selected it is always recalled exactly the way it was saved. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  6. Park all pots to max, as there is a very small neutral zone at that point where any jittering problems shouldn't happen (alternatively you could also park them all to min for the same reason) _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  7. You could create a dedicated partition on your PC with an operating system installed that only serves as a basis for audio work with all the necessary drivers and softwares (and nothing else) installed and working, and that never needs to be updated. With a well-configured dual boot in the PC, it would be possible to easily switch from an operating system that is necessarily always updated and secure for all internet operations to another dedicated only to audio and that actually never needs updates since it already works perfectly for what it serves. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  8. I don't think the audio quality of POD's mic physical preamp is inferior to current dedicated audio interfaces, especially those around 100-150 bucks for home recording. If you adjust the mic gain properly with POD's dedicated physical control on the rear panel, and put the following models in the chain: the Teletronix LA-2A studio compressor (Tube Comp), the Requisite Y7 vintage Tube Mic Preamp (Vintage Pre), and API 550B (EQ study), you should get great results for vocals. Compared to POD, however, most dedicated audio interfaces offer some practical advantages such as: better (i.e. lower) latency for using live plug-ins, phantom power for powering condenser microphones.. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  9. If the internal switch "A" and MODE switch have been fitted correctly and if the reset procedures (see below here) have already been carried out to no avail, the only solution left is to have the unit repaired by an authorized technician, if it is worth the cost.. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  10. One or more internal switches probably need to be replaced, which requires soldering skills.. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  11. It is not possible to assign footswitches globally in the same way for all presets, they can be assigned only for each individual preset. So you have to arm yourself with patience and edit every single preset you have as you like, it's pretty easy to do using the editor. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  12. Try reinstalling the previous version of the firmware (which you say was fine). You can download it from the DOWNLOAD section of this site and install it in OFFLINE mode using the MONKEY app. If doing so solves the noise problem but you need instead the latest firmware, eg to install model packs, open a support ticket to speak directly with the Line6 guys to find a solution together. If even with the old firmware the noise remains, I would say that there are two possible explanations: 1) something is broken internally and the POD needs to be repaired.. 2) perhaps lately you have connected the POD in a different point and way than in the past and in this last case a GROUND LOOP NOISE problem is occurring, and the annoying noise is heard more in STUDIO/DIRECT output mode because unlike the other output modes it has no additional filters (controls) on the output frequencies and therefore a range of frequencies including noise are not attenuated _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

  14. Congratulations, you have done a good job, and you have also kindly described it in this forum to help those who might have the same problem. I also solved the same problem years ago by doing it myself by replacing only the neutrik connector of my Variax 700. However at the time it was still possible to easily find a Jack Plate Assembly already complete with VDI that was easy to assemble without soldering at an acceptable price, and I took the opportunity to order one to keep as a spare in case of need. These days it's much harder to find, so DIY becomes the best solution _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

  16. Try the Auto-Vol. Echo FX (you can find it among the delay effects).. This model gives you two effects in one. A volume fade-in swell used for a bowing effect. The other effect is an echo, complete with tape-style wow and flutter modulation. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

  18. Your Peavey KB/A 30 is a keyboard amp (very different than a guitar amp) and as such is a sort of FRFR type of amp, and it is equipped basically with 3 main channels: based on the downloadable dedicate operating guide: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/120950/Peavey-Kb-A-30.html channel 1 is optimized for MIC level (low) sources, channel 2 is optimized for LINE level (high) or acoustic sources (with input gain switch), channel 3 is optimized for LINE level (high) only sources. The best KB/A 30 channel to connect the POD is channel 3 (suited just for LINE), and the HD400 LINE/AMP switch on the rear panel should be set to LINE. (FYI the AMP option actually is for connecting the POD to guitar AMP front panel, not for connecting to keyboard amps, FRFR systems and monitors). Forget using/trying any 4CM (as suggested) with this amp, it would be only a useless waste of time. 4CM makes sense only with guitar amps. If you connect your devices as I suggested above and turn up the POD master volume knob you should get sound 100%. When doing the sound check make sure the POD is not connected to the computer because there is a Line6 audio driver setting (hardware monitoring) which if by chance is set to zero it mutes the POD outputs (live playing). I confirm that the POD button named "effects only" is to disable the amps simulation, but I would never use it except when playing acoustic. Electric guitars always need a real or modeled guitar amp to sound good, and using a keyboard amp or FRFR system/monitor is a good way to amplify a modeler. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

  20. The USB controller is probably also damaged.. If so, the spare chip you need is called CY7C68013A-56PVXC, you can see it in the pic below here: the chip costs about 10 euro/dollars.. you can easily find it through online electronics stores in your country.. but let a pro-technician do the replacement work Good luck! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  21. The correct way is: guitar goes to the POD guitar input, the POD send goes to the Mooer input, the Mooer output goes to the POD return, finally to hear the sound you can use the headphones or connect the POD outputs to a monitor or mixer. To make all the above working it is necessary to put a FX LOOP block in the chain of your patches; in this case the FX LOOP block represents the position of your Mooer in the chain. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  22. As you can see above here there are 2 possible connection schemes. The most flexible solution is undoubtedly the second one given that in that case depending on where you put the FX LOOP block in the chain of your patches the cab emulation can be where you want, eg before or after the time based FXs, whereas in the first solution the cab emulation could be only the last thing in the final chain. Guitar --> in-POD-send --> in-MOOER-out --> return-POD-out --> mixer/monitor/FRFR (put a FX LOOP block where you want in the chain) _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  23. As with most pedals there should be a screw in the pivot on which it swings. By loosening or tightening it, you can adjust the pedal response from smooth to hard. I wouldn't put any lube on it unless it squeaks a lot. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  24. To actually hear the tempo change, the effect's "tempo sync" must be enabled by choosing a note value from the dedicated menu. If you are not using the editor, directly on the device choose a note value instead of milliseconds for the effect's tempo (or speed) parameter. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  25. To get a completely transparent, non-degraded bypass guitar signal when all effects are off, you need to set the input impedance parameter to 3.5 mega ohms or 1 mega ohm (no less, not AUTO). By default this is a per-patch setting, but it can also be set as "global" so that it no longer needs to be changed and saved for each patch. The default setting of the input impedance (AUTO) is to make sure that the guitar signal is influenced by the typical impedance value of the input of the first effect in the chain (on or off), therefore to obtain a better response fidelity of that specific chain of effects, but unfortunately the downside is that the complete bypass signal remains degraded. (In the guitar input (and only in this one) there is a physical circuit that adapts its input impedance according to how the input impedance parameter is set in the patch). The solution to your issue is the one given above,... or use the AUX input (1 mega ohm fixed) instead of the Guitar In _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
