  1. You might be interested in one of the following 2 posts that belong to the same old thread: https://line6.com/support/topic/33436-pod-hd-300-problem/?do=findComment&comment=497988 https://line6.com/support/topic/33436-pod-hd-300-problem/?do=findComment&comment=314129 Or for an AI generated Overview (probably based on those 2 posts linked above here): A 10-20 minute warm-up time for a Line 6 POD HD300 is not normal operation; it indicates a hardware fault, specifically failing electrolytic capacitors in the pre-amplifier input circuit . Affected units often produce no sound until warmed up due to corrosion or faulty components. Key Details regarding the Issue: Symptoms: No audio output upon power-up, requiring 10-20+ minutes to produce sound. Cause: The problem is typically linked to the pre-amplifier section of the guitar input. Solution: The common fix involves removing the metallic shield covering the pre-amp circuit and replacing the four faulty electrolytic capacitors, often caused by corrosion. Alternative Check: If you cannot replace components, some users have reported that re-soldering the OP-amp legs can sometimes resolve audio issues, though this requires precision. If your unit requires this warm-up time, it is highly recommended to seek professional service to replace the failing capacitors. Good luck! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  2. OP translation: " I ended up buying a Pod HD500X, but it came defective. The expression pedal works when I move it up and down, but I can't turn it on or off using the expression pedal itself. It works for both wah-wah and volume, but I can't switch from wah-wah to volume or vice-versa using the expression pedal. I've already calibrated, formatted, and updated it, but nothing works. I tested the Optek OP580 phototransistor, and they are working because when I use the effect that comes directly from the factory bank, it works; I just can't turn it on or off. I've already cleaned it, sent it for servicing, replaced the capacitor on the pedal's circuit board, and it still doesn't work. When opening the pedal's activation foot, I observed that there are three iron plates that, when pressed, make contact with the board and turn it on and off. I hope to find a solution." --> same spare part for HD500 and HD500X but very hard to find my reply: Always make sure the Wah and Volume are assigned to different EXP modes (1 or 2) and never to the same mode. If the toe switch under the rubber ring for turning the assigned effects on and off and switching between EXP modes (1 or 2) doesn't work, it should be replaced. (However keep in mind that the toe switch, especially if it's relatively new and hasn't been used much, requires a certain amount of force/weight to operate properly, therefore you need to put your weight on the pedal when needed; in the past, some have thinned the rubber ring to make the toe switch less hard to activate.) An alternative solution is to add an external expression pedal so that the onboard pedal always works in one EXP mode and the external pedal in the other EXP mode. However, in this case, to turn the Wah on and off (not necessary also for the Volume), you'll need to assign the Wah effect to one of the unassigned footswitches. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  3. Maybe some computer cleaning has deleted the logs needed for uninstallation. Try installing the same program again and uninstalling it afterwards. Maybe it will fix the problem. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

  5. Use the new downloadable Line6 Central program to update your device. Line6 Monkey program is no longer supported.. 6. The POD HD500X provides already both unbalanced jack outputs and balanced XLR outputs. The jack outputs can be set to either LINE or MIC level using the dedicated switch near the expression pedal. The balanced XLR outputs are MIC-level only and are particularly suitable for very long cables. In conclusion, I would say that with the POD HD500X, there's no advantage to adding a DI box. If you want to connect the POD to the mixer's MIC inputs with very long cables, simply use the POD XLR outputs; nothing else is really needed. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  7. The Monkey app is discontinued, if you need to update your device you need to download and install Line6 Central. The driver to make your computer and editor recognize your POD can be easily downloaded from the DOWNLOADS section of this site. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  8. Avoid turning off or disconnecting the device while it is in use by any running application or by the operating system if selected as the primary audio interface. When you close the application that uses the POD wait a moment longer before disconnecting or turning off the device. That said, I still get the BSOD, but very rarely. Also, USB connections are unfortunately too delicate, sometimes even accidentally touching the head of a USB cable that is already inserted can momentarily lose the connection and crash the system. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

  11. thick pick, Les Paul (neck PU on melody, neck or bridge PU on solos), Tube Screamer only on solos, Dimension chorus on arpeggios, Guitar volume reduced a little for all cleaner parts (TS turned off), Marshall amp (preferibly a JTM 45) on the edge of breakup, little delay and reverb depending on the enviroment
  12. By "powering up while pressing the left arrow key" you have done basically a "Global Parameters Reset" but unfortunately in this case it didn't work to solve your boot loop issue. At this point I would suggest to power up while pressing instead the down arrow key for direct access to Flash Memory update mode and then update the firmware through Monkey (at this time possible only in offline mode if you have downloaded the firmware file) or Line6 Central, which procedure would cause a Full Reset of the device. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  13. You need to use the editor, below are the instructions, when you have done do not forget to use the SEND command to permanently save the changes on your device. Copied and pasted from the POD HD500X Edit Pilot's Guide : “Swap” the Preset settings between two Channel locations: Click on a Preset to select it, then hold your Shift key and click and drag the Preset to the new desired Channel location - either within the same Set List Panel, or into a different Set List Panel. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

  15. In order to use the POD as an audio interface, the program you use to record must offer the option to choose the Line6 asio driver (other generic asio drivers such as asio4all are not recommended and may conflict with the native driver). The actual and complete installation of the Line6 driver may be hindered by the OS's protection and security system, and it is often necessary to resort to the workaround described in the following linked post: --> Windows 10/11 Memory Integrity/Core Isolation Disables Driver Installation If even after the actual and complete installation of the Line6 driver, system freezes should occur, keep the following in mind: It is often recommended to lower as much as you can the buffer value via the driver settings in order to obtain the lowest possible latency in live monitoring, but doing this makes the computer work harder and older ones may not be able to cope with the lower buffer settings. But if you don't plan to use any plugins on your computer (like IR loaders or DAW effects) during live monitoring it is absolutely useless and counterproductive to set very low buffer values and stress your computer unnecessarily, just disable live monitoring in your DAW and use instead direct hardware monitoring which is practically zero latency and costs nothing in terms of computer hardware resources. Also, connect the POD only to USB 2.0.. avoid the blue ones (USB 3.0) _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

  17. USB 1.1 is not the same as USB 2.0 (they look the same but have different specs), as mentioned previously the POD only wants USB 2.0. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  18. The piezo elements and the slots in the bridge where they are housed must make perfect electrical contact with each other otherwise the necessary ground contact does not work. Tiny pieces of skin from the palm of the picking hand, sweat and dust accumulated over time that get between the piezo and the slot can compromise the grounding and therefore the proper functioning of the piezo with bad symptoms like the one you described. Generally a thorough cleaning with isopropyl alcohol (it cleans perfectly, leaves no streaks and does not damage synthetic parts with which it may come into contact) of the piezo element (gently extracted from its slot being careful not to break the electrical wire that connects it to the invisible board underneath) and its slot, and doing if desired also a 180 degree rotation of the piezo to offer a new contact point to the string, brilliantly solve the problem of either the decreasing volume or the intermittent signal or the unnatural noise that can occur. More than once in years of intense use and only when necessary I have put some piezos of my Variax 700 back into perfect working order simply by doing as said above and it has always been a success. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  19. Make sure you connect the POD only to USB 2.0 ports and not to USB 3.0 (avoid the blue ones). _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  20. The POD must be connected to USB 2.0, not to USB 3.0. It must also be connected to the main USB ports, not to port extensions such as USB HUB. Often the main and best USB ports are those closest to the power cable socket. I have 2 perfectly working PODs and both indicate USB FW:V0.00 on their display while they are disconnected, since they are connected and recognized by the OS they instead indicate USB FW:V1.04. If your POD remains at USB FW:V0.00 after connecting to the computer it means that it is not recognized by the OS, which can be due to one of 3 problems: 1) the driver on the computer is not installed correctly. In this case completely uninstall the driver and install again, avoiding that the computer security system blocks the complete installation of the driver. 2) the port used on the PC to connect to the POD is not suitable such as a USB 3.0 or it is a USB HUB. 3) the USB port of the POD and perhaps also its USB Controller chip are damaged not allowing any connection. I recommend trying to connect the POD to another computer even without installing anything on it. If at the time of connection there is no reaction at all from the computer (which normally should at least detect the presence of unknown hardware connected) it means that the USB port of the POD is dead, and the only solution would be to replace it. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  21. Yes, but have you tried rolling back to 1.9 using Line6 Central (instead of Monkey)? The guy in the video posted above wrote that it is possible that way. I'm just curious if it's true. As for me, the Variax I'm still using is a 700 that I'm happy with as is, no need for different firmware. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  22. Based on what was officially said it is not possible to downgrade a Variax Standard to firmware 1.9. read here: Variax Standard with 1.9 ? But wait!!! According to the description on YouTube of the following video, it is possible to downgrade the Standard using the Line6 Central app. Is this true? _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
