  1. Open the Line 6 Audio-MIDI Devices driver control panel and set the Hardware Monitor Level to zero _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  2. I suggest connecting the POD output to the RETURN (PWR IN on your amp) jack on your amp. By doing this you completely bypass the preamp (and all its controls) of your amp and use only the power amp and cabinet of your amp. Make sure the POD's 1/4" OUT switch near the pedal is set to LINE (since RETURN inputs typically expect LINE type signals). As regards the setting of the POD output mode for the above configuration, in theory the most appropriate one to choose would be COMBO POWER AMP but if you are thinking of enabling cabinet emulation (if you really need it since you already use a real cabinet) in your patches perhaps you might prefer STUDIO/DIRECT. Note that patches created for a certain configuration will never sound the same when any element of the configuration changes. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  3. Basically you need to use the 4 cable method, usually explained for combo amps (i.e. with preamp and poweramp combined in the same unit) equipped with FX LOOP like in the above picture. The only difference following the 4CM scheme in your case is that your preamp and poweramp are separate devices, and therefore you have to use the output of your preamp and the input of your poweramp in place of the amp send and amp return respectively in the above scheme. Here is an article about the 4CM already written on my site dedicated to POD: 4 Cable Method _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  4. I don't know if there are any for Mac (do a search if you want), but for PC there are programs (for example: Dexpot, free for personal use) capable of creating multiple virtual desktops, each with customizable resolution. The idea would be that moving the POD editor window to a second virtual desktop with lower resolution would have the effect of zooming it, while the other objects that remain on the original desktop would remain the same.. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

  6. I remember a similar problem caused by a certain firmware version. Installing the new firmware fixed the problem. If you can, save your presets to your computer and then try using the Monkey app to update your device, finally do a global reset and reload your presets.. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

  9. Try replacing the old power supply with another one with the same specs: https://line6.com/support/topic/52496-middle-tone-pod-hd500x-trouble/?do=findComment&comment=316891 _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

  11. The POD XLR outputs can only give a MIC level (i.e. low level) signal and for this reason must be connected to MIC-ready mixer channels, so the resulting volume can be as expected and not low. Instead, the 1/4" jack outputs can give a signal either at LINE level (i.e. high level) or at MIC/AMP level (low level) depending on the setting of the dedicated switch near the pedal. So in this last case, depending on the selected switch setting, they must be connected to mixer channels set up for LINE or MIC. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  12. The reset procedure (link here: After POD HD500X/500 Flash/Re-Flash/Update: MANDATORY Global Settings Reset! ) does not delete the presets already present nor does it add the factory ones. What it simply does is reset all general settings, including setlist names, to their default value, but without touching the presets. The only way to delete all the presets present and replace them with the factory ones in all the setlists is to answer "no" to the question asked during the firmware installation which asks if you want to keep the presets currently present. If your POD still works after installing the firmware, it means that you've completed the process correctly. Tip: To avoid BSODs, avoid setting POD as your operating system's audio interface and instead use the own settings of the programs you want to use POD as an interface. If you absolutely need to use POD as an operating system audio interface, first shut down your computer and then unplug POD. And also, after closing all the programs using the POD always wait a few seconds longer before finally disconnecting the device from the USB to give the system more time to reorganize its drivers actually in use. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  13. The USB firmware is part of the device flash firmware and cannot be downloaded and installed separately. It is normal for the device to show V0.00 for USB on its display until the device is unplugged from the computer. As soon as you connect it to your computer via USB the actual USB firmware version should finally be shown. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  14. If HD500X Edit is not listed among the items that can be uninstalled using the Line 6 Uninstaller it means that the editor has not been installed properly for some reason. Sometimes the misuse of registry/system cleaners can erase data that should be kept instead. I suggest installing the editor again hoping that this time all the traces/logs necessary for the uninstaller to be able to remove everything will be recorded, so you can try again. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  15. Ground loop noise.. POD is probably connected to an amp or monitor, and at the same time to the computer, which in turn is connected to power as the amp/monitor. One way to break the loop between the things listed above is to unplug the computer from power (if it can run on battery). Or you can use headphones instead of the amp/monitor (which in this case should be turned off or disconnected from POD). Another solution is to connect a ground lift plug to the plug of the amp or computer. There are also ground loop breakers/killers/isolators on the market. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  16. Unfortunately in most cases the POD does not work with USB 3.0, only with USB 2.0. If the type of USB port was not the problem, another problem (with given workaround) could be the one described in the following link: Memory Integrity/Core Isolation disabling for Helix/HX and POD HD drivers on Windows 10, and 11 _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  17. It is not at all advisable to try to use the laptop as a speaker, both for the problems you already mentioned and for the sound quality and for the cumbersome configuration that at the end would lead only to unsatisfactory results. You'll want to get a pair of speakers to plug directly into the POD outputs, and... ...You need to connect POD via USB to your computer. Once connected via USB the option to choose ASIO Line6 driver in your DAW should be selectable (no longer greyed out). Open the ASIO Line6 driver and make sure the "hardware monitor level" is at maximum. In your DAW, disable any track monitoring (to avoid out-of-phase with latency duplication of your live/direct signal in monitoring). The only monitoring (without any latency) you really need is: hardware monitoring (can be activated or deactivated only via the ASIO Line6 driver control panel). _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  18. Connect the speakers to the outputs of the POD (which is currently being used as the audio interface), not to the computer. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  19. Based on the power supply compatibility chart above your DC-3H should work (I always used a DC-3G with my HD500X and in the past with the HD500), especially if you bought it new. If the power supply LED lights up when you connect it to the current, it is a sign that at least it turns on, otherwise it doesn't. If it's new it should certainly be able to supply all the 3000 mA necessary for the POD to work properly and turn on, if it's old maybe not. If you are confident that the power supply is working properly and the POD fails to turn on then perhaps the connector on POD for the power supply is damaged. Also, if you have a Variax (which could have a not perfect or defective VDI connector) connected to the POD disconnect it from the POD before trying to turn on the device. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  20. You're right, I have a POD HD500X and I mistakenly thought the POD HD PRO X also had expression pedal input, but it doesn't. At this point I think the only option remains a FBV pedalboard. 22. You're welcome.. It happens that in some cases the effects alone without an amp are all that is needed for certain sounds. I remember that in the first POD bean there was the Fuzz Face model but it was placed among the various amp models (instead of among the effects) and therefore in that case it was not even possible to combine it with an amp model but IIRC only with a cabinet, but it worked as it was.. after all effects in the distortion category are like hot amps without cabinets _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  23. What I found is that there is an effect that alone without the need to add any amp in the chain gives the sound of "Bad Spell". Try the Sub Octave Fuzz (inspired by the PAiA Roctave Divider, fuzz with an octave below), select the bridge humbucker PU and add some reverb. Ready for bad spell! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  24. Unless the signal of the preset you're using is panned all to one side, you should normally hear both the left and right channels. Maybe POD's headphone jack is dirty or oxidized. (Have you also tried with a different pair of headphones?) Try wiggling the connector back and forth when it's inserted in to see if doing so re-establishes the connection to the missing channel. If your AKG headphones use a small to large jack adapter (very likely) make sure it is stereo i.e. as in the following image (you can see 2 rings): PS: If by any chance you are using the single input approach (i.e. with input2=variax or any source other than input1) in a new empty patch it is normal that you will only hear the left side, at least until you add something mono in the chain such as an effect or an amp.. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
