If HD500X Edit is not listed among the items that can be uninstalled using the Line 6 Uninstaller it means that the editor has not been installed properly for some reason. Sometimes the misuse of registry/system cleaners can erase data that should be kept instead. I suggest installing the editor again hoping that this time all the traces/logs necessary for the uninstaller to be able to remove everything will be recorded, so you can try again. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Ground loop noise.. POD is probably connected to an amp or monitor, and at the same time to the computer, which in turn is connected to power as the amp/monitor. One way to break the loop between the things listed above is to unplug the computer from power (if it can run on battery). Or you can use headphones instead of the amp/monitor (which in this case should be turned off or disconnected from POD). Another solution is to connect a ground lift plug to the plug of the amp or computer. There are also ground loop breakers/killers/isolators on the market. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Unfortunately in most cases the POD does not work with USB 3.0, only with USB 2.0. If the type of USB port was not the problem, another problem (with given workaround) could be the one described in the following link: Memory Integrity/Core Isolation disabling for Helix/HX and POD HD drivers on Windows 10, and 11 _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

It is not at all advisable to try to use the laptop as a speaker, both for the problems you already mentioned and for the sound quality and for the cumbersome configuration that at the end would lead only to unsatisfactory results. You'll want to get a pair of speakers to plug directly into the POD outputs, and... ...You need to connect POD via USB to your computer. Once connected via USB the option to choose ASIO Line6 driver in your DAW should be selectable (no longer greyed out). Open the ASIO Line6 driver and make sure the "hardware monitor level" is at maximum. In your DAW, disable any track monitoring (to avoid out-of-phase with latency duplication of your live/direct signal in monitoring). The only monitoring (without any latency) you really need is: hardware monitoring (can be activated or deactivated only via the ASIO Line6 driver control panel). _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Connect the speakers to the outputs of the POD (which is currently being used as the audio interface), not to the computer. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Based on the power supply compatibility chart above your DC-3H should work (I always used a DC-3G with my HD500X and in the past with the HD500), especially if you bought it new. If the power supply LED lights up when you connect it to the current, it is a sign that at least it turns on, otherwise it doesn't. If it's new it should certainly be able to supply all the 3000 mA necessary for the POD to work properly and turn on, if it's old maybe not. If you are confident that the power supply is working properly and the POD fails to turn on then perhaps the connector on POD for the power supply is damaged. Also, if you have a Variax (which could have a not perfect or defective VDI connector) connected to the POD disconnect it from the POD before trying to turn on the device. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

You're right, I have a POD HD500X and I mistakenly thought the POD HD PRO X also had expression pedal input, but it doesn't. At this point I think the only option remains a FBV pedalboard. You're welcome.. It happens that in some cases the effects alone without an amp are all that is needed for certain sounds. I remember that in the first POD bean there was the Fuzz Face model but it was placed among the various amp models (instead of among the effects) and therefore in that case it was not even possible to combine it with an amp model but IIRC only with a cabinet, but it worked as it was.. after all effects in the distortion category are like hot amps without cabinets _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

What I found is that there is an effect that alone without the need to add any amp in the chain gives the sound of "Bad Spell". Try the Sub Octave Fuzz (inspired by the PAiA Roctave Divider, fuzz with an octave below), select the bridge humbucker PU and add some reverb. Ready for bad spell! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Unless the signal of the preset you're using is panned all to one side, you should normally hear both the left and right channels. Maybe POD's headphone jack is dirty or oxidized. (Have you also tried with a different pair of headphones?) Try wiggling the connector back and forth when it's inserted in to see if doing so re-establishes the connection to the missing channel. If your AKG headphones use a small to large jack adapter (very likely) make sure it is stereo i.e. as in the following image (you can see 2 rings): PS: If by any chance you are using the single input approach (i.e. with input2=variax or any source other than input1) in a new empty patch it is normal that you will only hear the left side, at least until you add something mono in the chain such as an effect or an amp.. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

What version of FLASH FW is shown on POD's display when you hold down the VIEW button to access the system settings? If it is 2.62 then your POD has been updated successfully and the USB ports on your computer and POD are both working as they should. However, there could be a problem (especially if your OS is windows 11) of incorrect or incomplete installation of the driver (responsible for communication between POD and computer). (Sometimes it happens that the security functions of an OS prevent the correct installation of drivers) Try uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it again.. If that doesn't fix the problem, try uninstalling the driver again and try installing manually (ie not via monkey) the previous version that you can find in the DOWNLOAD section of this site.. PS: please remember that after each firmware installation it is highly recommended by the manufacturer to do a global reset and finally a calibration of the pedal to avoid any malfunctions _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

First save the presets you created on your computer if you have any, and then reinstall the firmware which is a procedure that offers the possibility to restore the original factory presets when prompted. And the question that gets asked during the firmware install procedure is: do you want to keep your presets? You must answer "no" if you want all the original factory presets (included the empty user setlists) to be put back in After the firmware install procedure it is highly recommended that you do a global reset and pedal calibration. When everything is done you can reload the presets created by you and saved previously on your computer but possibly using only the latest available version of the Editor _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Connecting Variax 700 to a Pod HD500X
hurghanico replied to kijang's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
Check if the variax neutrik connector VDI has damaged bent pins, in which case the connection via VDI can't work, and replacement of that connector would be needed. Also check the neutrik connector VDI of the POD. Years ago I bought my Variax 700 online at a bargain price but when it arrived I soon realized that its VDI was damaged, so I replaced the neutrik connector and since then it has worked perfectly connected by VDI to my HD500X. Here is the pic of a perfect neutrik connector: Note that the variax cable could be also the culprit, if you have an ethernet cable that you are sure works fine, try using that to connect the variax to the pod. If the connection works then it is obvious that the problem is in the variax cable. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips -
Perhaps the current power supply can no longer provide the required amount of current. I suggest to find and try another power supply, the original DC-3G or another equivalent with the same specs: 9V DC, 3A (3000mA) Plug length: 15mm, Diameter: 5mm, Center Pin (negative): 2.5mm note that 3A (3000mA) are necessary only if your unit is powering also a Variax, otherwise 1100mA (or more, not less) for the POD alone should suffice original DC-3G: .and below here a tested working good and cheap alternative: UpBright 9V AC/DC Adapter Compatible with Line 6 DC-3g _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

You're welcome.. Some years ago I suggested on "ideascale" to implement different response curves for the pedal since it only responds linearly. You would probably need a logarithmic response curve to be able to smoothly adjust the volume from zero to 100. Linear response is fine for adjusting many parameters but not ideal for volume. I wonder if in Helix they finally implemented differentiated pedal response curves. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

It seems to me (I'm not an electronics expert) that it is a component of the internal power supply that has blown, perhaps the power regulator. Unfortunately, as the component has exploded, it is no longer possible to read its complete code number which would be useful for finding an equal spare part to replace. The visible protection fuse may also have blown to protect the rest of the circuit, thus stopping the uncontrolled flow of electric current. Maybe it would be easier to find the complete power supply board assembly (on the left of your first pic) to replace the broken one. I don't think the cause of the breakup is what you assumed (2 audio interfaces active at the same time). I'm more inclined to believe it was a sudden current surge that caused an old, worn-out component to burn out. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

If you don't need to change presets between une overdub and the next, you could place the Looper fx at the beginning of the chain (using the dedicated command directly on the device) and insert a Volume fx assigned to the expression pedal at the end.. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Given that typically guitar amplifiers compared to FRFRs tend to emphasize a lot BASS and TREBLE (i.e. those frequency ranges a bit weak in the pure signal of electric guitars and which therefore require reinforcement), in such amps, if you are connecting to the guitar input, in order to obtain instead an approximately flat response you tend to raise the MIDs a lot and lower the BASS and TREBLE, how much depends from amp to amp.. But if the amp is provided with FX LOOP you could better connect your multi-fx/amp modeler to its Return input usually placed on the rear panel. Doing so you bypass the pre-amp part of your amp and its gain and tone controls and the connection is direct to the power-amp getting an aproximately flat response mostly affected by the speaker mounted. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Output modes other than Studio/Direct are equalized for POD connection to real cabs/speakers for guitar in the room, the applied EQ is sort of a complement to get from the real cab (depending on the type) a similar response to the cab model chosen in the patch. The Studio/Direct mode is not equalized in any way and is certainly the most suitable for connecting POD to an impulse response loader, which loader provides the response of cabs/speakers, but miked/ready for recording (very different than connecting the POD to real cabs/speakers for guitar in the room). In any case, nothing prevents you from experimenting with each combination. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Based on L6 LINK Connectivity Guide for POD HD & DT Amplifiers when you connect two DT Amps they will automatically configure themselves for stereo operation. The 1st DT amp will receive the POD HD left channel audio signal and the 2nd will receive the right channel audio. So in POD it is not strictly necessary to set 2 equal amp models in the chain to obtain the signal in stereo from the set of 2 DT Amps, just one amp model is enough, unless: you want 2 different amp models at the same time or 2 different parallel chains of effects (path A & path B on POD, one on the left and one on the right), or you prefer the sound of stereo fx when placed before the amp model rather than after it but retaining the channels stereo separation. With only one amp model in the chain, the stereo effects to remain stereo must be placed always after the amp model because the amp model monoizes everything that precedes it. By doing as suggested above (with only one amp model A) there is no longer any need to have the amp controls knobs on POD affecting in sync also an equal amp B. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

..also.. if by chance there is a noise gate fx in your chain the problem could depend also on its setting, if so turn it off or set its threshold to a more appropriate value to allow the notes to have a natural sustain _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
