  1. AFAIK Reverb.com ships also to Canada.. here is the item: Line 6 50-02-0234 Top and Bottom Switch PCB Assembly for HD500X _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  2. To effectively apply a contact cleaner (better isopropyl alcohol) you need to open the device to have access to the underlying microswitches that have become dirty or worn. Otherwise for $ 25 you can buy brand new Top and Bottom Switch PCB Assembly and replace the old one, no soldering needed, just plug and play. Get or build a Stevie Ray Vaughan type patch and you are ready to go.. http://line6.com/customtone/tone/257279/ _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  4. Yes it is a PITA!.. I understand your annoyance .. so it seems that the problem depends on which browser is used .. I have been using firefox for many years and I have never had the problem downloading from Line6.. well at least you have found the solution to your problem _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  5. If the external preamp is top quality (which usually translates to pricey) it will improve the vocals, but not as much as the right mic for the right voice would do. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  6. You need just a normal USB cable like the one of your printer. The Variax cable is useful only if you have a Variax guitar. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  7. Il you read it the solution is clearly written in the 2nd pic you posted in your previous reply. You have to disable the smart screen feature in your browser to be able to download from the Line6 servers. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  8. Just in case you need the perhaps lost songs/style setlist here it is: Songs - Style.5xs Drag and drop it over your Editor and send it to the device. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  9. You shouldn't use the link posted by you above, it doesn't work, you should instead go to the DOWNLOAD section of this website, then by using the dedicated menus select: the POD HD500 as hardware, the HD500 Edit as software, and Windows 10 as OS, and then use the given link to download the installer you need. You could also install and use the Monkey app to automatically recognize and install all the softwares useful for your device. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  10. As a workaround, for roughly the same price of a new VDI-USB Variax interface you might much more easily find a used POD XT Live that theoretically would work the same way as an interface between your Variax and your computer. But to be honest I don't know if the latest XTL drivers would still work with the latest operating systems. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

  12. Unfortunately not. You can change output setting only directly on the device through the rotary encoder n.1 when you are at page 4 of the system settings. The encoder need to be cleaned or replaced. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  13. What you have to do simply is to lower the volume of the apps outputting audio. It is neither necessary nor advisable to max out the amp models volume parameters. Once you find a good Master Volume knob setting for your guitars, leave it there and dont' touch it anymore. Adjust only the other audio sources. You can test the good functioning of your POD when you open a DAW and all the audio is managed only internally to the app (ie excluding external media players and the like), if your just recorded tracks playback is quite balanced with your live playing it means that your POD is performing perfectly well. However it happens that the multimedia playback clean volume offered through the POD is very generous (better to have much than little, especially to get the best signal/noise ratio), just cut out the excess you don't need. Also, if your device is connected through the 1/4" jack outputs to any flat response amplification system make sure the 1/4" OUT switch near the pedal is set to LINE. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  14. If your POD is set as the OS's main AI you can open the OS's mixer volume control panel to balance all the sources/apps currently outputting audio. Right click on the speaker icon in the system try to open the audio menu and select "open mixer volume" _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  15. The download link doesn't work anymore, however you can still find the patches made by Antti Loponen by looking for "Echoflanger" (his Line6 nickname) in CustomTone.. Here is a direct link: POD HD500 compatible tones matching "Echoflanger" _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  16. If you followed the correct 4CM connection scheme .. ..and you activated the FX LOOP via the dedicated switch on the front panel of your amp .. .. and you have placed a FX LOOP block in the POD chain to activate and set its own FX LOOP .. everything should work (amp's control panel included), if not, probably a cable or the amp's FX LOOP circuit is not working properly .. if you bought both units used, maybe some contacts, connectors or switches are dirty and need cleaning.. if your amp has a footswitch check that too. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

  18. for your information: if you connect only one XLR output you'll get only what is routed to the corresponding channel (left or right).. but with the POD if you connect only one jack output you'll get both channels left and right automatically mixed together into that single output _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  19. I wonder if you are using the single input approach (eg input1=guitar//input2=variax or aux or mic=null) without having at least one (mono) FX placed in front of both the amp models in the chain in pre split position. If so, it's normal (and expected) that no signal can go to the amp placed on the bottom row (path B), and in this case there would be 2 solutions: - place a mono FX like a noise gate or booster or overdrive in pre split position in the chain, .... or.. - just set input2=same or guitar each of the above solutions gives different results in terms of tone and amount of gain/distortion _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  20. The built in tuner on/off function is not assignable to any other footswitch.. but if you have a (small) midi controller you could use it to control it or simply use a headstock tuner _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  21. 1) Disconnect all the cables connected to the device included the USB one 2) Unplug the power cable from the POD 3) Plug in the power cable while holding the down nav button 4) Connect the unit via USB to the computer (you should hear a sound that a device has been recognized) 5) Open Monkey (it should identify the POD) 6) Install the latest firmware (better if by choosing the "offline mode" and loading the right firmware file previously downloaded manually), possibly not retaining the old patches when asked during the procedure 7) If it doesn't work after the first try repeat the above procedure several times until it does 8) If still no joy check the power supply, perhaps it no longer gives the amount of current needed: 9V 3A; check also the POD USB port, if broken there is nothing you can do except bringing the unit to a technician for repair _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  22. Mysterious choices by Line6.. Same thing with the smaller brothers of the HD500. Both the HD300 (the one above in the pic) and the HD400 (same modeling engine of the HD500) have the dual output (exactly what you would need), but the HD500 does not. And people wonders: why does the flagship device of a series, in addition to having its special features, also not have all the useful ones of the smaller models? _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  23. Please forgive me, in my previous answer I did not understand your problem well, and I thought that you needed to route patches with cab active and patches with cab deactivated differently, while instead you need to route the same patch in two different ways at the same time, one with cab and the other without. I'm sorry, but there is no way to be able to do this with the HD500. The presence or absence of the cab is part of the amp model parameters and cannot be separated by the amp in any way. The Helix series can do this since the cab can be separate and independent, and the routing possibilities are much more advanced. EDIT: But wait!!.. I still have another idea. If the available DSP resources of the POD allow it, you could create a patch with 2 same amps, one with cab and the other without, and then insert the FX LOOP in only one of the 2 paths, by doing so you should get what you need: eg from the SEND you get the cabless tone , and from the standard outputs the cab included tone. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  24. Unfortunately with the HD500 it is possible to choose only one output mode valid for all outputs. However, for some patches it is possible to take advantage of the alternative (mono & stereo capable) SEND output (on the rear panel) which you could manage via the FX LOOP block that you can place at the end of the chain in order to divert the signal path towards the SEND output (just before the standard outputs). So for example patches that include cab can use the standard outputs and patches without cab can use the SEND output. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  25. With the POD the most transparent uncolored bypass signal is achievable by setting the patches input impedance parameter to 3.5 megaohm (but 1 megaohm would suffice, which is the same input impedance value of most guitar amps). https://www.blackstaramps.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=487&start=20 _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
