Any professional technician could do the USB controller chip replacement job.. the spare chip you need is called CY7C68013A-56PVXC, you can see it in the pic below here: the chip costs about 10 euro.. you can easily find it through online electronics stores in your country.. In regard to the power supply if the specs of the one you have are 9V 3A as written in the linked ad it should work perfectly _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

It has happened to several people that the breaking of the USB port of the POD also causes damaging to its USB controller chip and that therefore it is necessary to replace the latter as well (and not the entire circuit board as you have been told). If done professionally the repair would cost at least 150 euros or dollars, a used POD can be bought for 200, so do your evaluations. If the USB system (port + chip) does not work it is impossible for the device to be recognized and to do anything that requires interaction with a computer. The power supply also has its importance and must have certain characteristics, read the following old post: https://line6.com/support/topic/53649-pod-hd500x-9v-adapter-not-plugging-in-power-input/?do=findComment&comment=321419 _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

The potentiometer of the hd500x is broken and will be replaced.
hurghanico replied to slashj2's topic in POD HD
I believe so, but I cannot guarantee it .. as far as I know the POD HD500 and the HD500X (currently I have them both) differ in the processor, footswitches and probably the screen (since it has a slightly different backlight), even the bottom panel is a little different .. IMO there would have been no reason to switch Pots between one POD version and and the other, but who knows. The reference site for finding Line6 parts has always been www.fullcompass.com, but IIRC doesn't ship outside the US, and I don't know why it's been denying me access lately. IIRC in a past search for the same Pot via fullcompass in the compatibility list there was also the HD500X, but I can't say for sure. Sorry but I can't do more than this to help you. Good luck with your search. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips -
Use the Parametric EQ.. Here is a useful video clip showing how to use it as a notch filter.. and here you can see a table with the correspondences between values expressed in percentages in the Parametric EQ in the POD and the values in Hz: http://foobazaar.com/podhd/toneGuide/eq#effects-param _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

What are you looking for? Pots or encoders? The amp model controls knobs and the device Master volume knob are Pots, the multifunction rotary knobs below the screen are encoders, the setlist/preset selector rotary knob on the left of the screen is an encoder with switch. Here is the 10KB Linear Taper 25mm D-Shaft Pot: https://www.proaudioservice.co.uk/product/line-6-pot-mono-10kb-linear-taper-25mm-d-shaft-01-48-0103-qn170601/ _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips -
No. Actually the Editor "owns" only the temporary new settings made during the Editor use current session, ie still not saved to make them permanent. When you open the Editor it just reads the data and settings from the POD and then displays them as they are on the screen, included the last patch you were working on but still not saved. If you make new adjustments in the Editor to one or more patches, the Editor remembers them all one by one but only until you close the program. If you want the new adjustments made to become permanent you must send the modified patches from the editor to the device before closing the editor. In regard instead to your still recurring BSOD issues the last suggestion I could give is to try to uninstall the current driver and install another version, I believe that in the DOWNLOADS section there are at least 2 versions available. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

The physical Master knob affects only the device standard outputs but doesn't affect at all the signal passing through the USB. All the other controls (which you can find also in the Editor) affect everything, included the signal passing through USB. So as an example if the Master knob is set at zero you hear nothing from your headphones or speakers connected to the POD, but the signal will be still present unaffected through the USB and going in your recording software (DAW). If as another example you turn down at zero the mixer block faders in the chain, you get no signal at all through both USB and standard outputs. Basically when you record something in your DAW the controls in the chain are what really affect the final signal to be recorded, and the device Master knob is just your monitor volume level. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

What pianoguyy said above.. The device physical controls of the amp model behave like those in the editor, eg 25% in a physical control corresponds to 25% of the corresponding control in the Editor. But the physical Master control (which is only the general volume of the device) of the POD (not to be confused with the master volume control of the amp model in the Editor) exists only on the device and not in the editor. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

I saw your post by chance on the index page of the various forums, I don't have the POD GO and I use a POD HD500X so I don't frequent this POD GO forum in particular. However based on the description of your problem I would say that most likely what you are hearing are the so called ghost notes that are (really) generated by some tube amps and become more evident when a certain gain threshold is exceeded. In the HD500X there is the HUM parameter which serves to adjust what causes these dissonant ghost notes. Probably in the POD GO there is the same HUM parameter and perhaps also the RIPPLE parameter which serves more or less the same thing. If the above parameters are set to zero the ghost notes generated by the amp model should disappear completely. (If you still get the rumbling overtones maybe your guitar needs a new setup; old worn out strings also might cause weird resonances)

Strange.. usually all computers I have seen have a built-in audio interface with at least one input and output.. sometimes a single jack socket can be multifunctional and function as output and/or input (eg headphones / mic) depending on the setting.. but here we are delving into specific topics of your computer that I do not know, so I stop here _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Actually I believe it is the driver installer that sets the POD as the operating system's primary/favorite audio interface, this happens also with several audio interfaces from other brands when their driver is installed in the computer. As long as there are no external interfaces connected, the operating system is forced to use the only audio interface available at the moment (and in that moment that AI appears as the main/favorite one if you check it in the audio settings), but as soon as the real "favorite" one is connected the audio control is passed to it. So the only way to effectively see/change which interface is the "favorite" for the OS is to change the setting while all installed interfaces are connected and powered on. In the particular case object of this thread, to avoid that all the next times the POD becomes the audio interface of the OS as soon as it is connected, you simply need to open the audio control panel of the OS while the POD is connected, change the settings and choose the integrated audio interface as main interface. Once this is done you should no longer need to revise the OS audio settings, at least until you install an audio driver again, and next times you connect the POD to the computer it no longer becomes the audio interface for the OS, but is used only by the programs set to use it. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

If the device is set as the general audio interface of the operating system or if the device is set as the audio interface of a program that is still running, disconnecting the device or turning it off is equivalent to creating a flaw in the system (resulting in BSOD). Rule # 1 avoid setting the device as the operating system's audio interface, and instead use the audio settings of individual audio programs (to check which audio interface is actually the preferred/chosen one for the operating system, the POD must be connected to the computer, otherwise only the only one currently available is shown (for example the one integrated into the computer hardware). Rule # 2 never disconnect or turn off the device while a program (or operating system) that uses it as the audio interface is still running ------------------------------- It should also be noted that sometimes it can also happen that as a consequence of too low buffer settings in the driver control panel the correct communication between the operating system and the device is lost/corrupted (as if it was a forced physical disconnection) and this can also lead to the BSOD. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Hi, I don't have the HD400 (but an HD500X) so I don't know exactly how the HD400 works and all the differences with my device, but I'm sure that building a preset with some effects should be pretty easy and intuitive, especially if you use the computer Editor with the device connected via USB. Obviously before using the Editor you need to install the driver and the Editor in your computer, both available in the "download" section of this site, or via the Monkey app. Once the Editor is installed, ready and running, you can see all the models and settings of the current selected preset in the Editor windows , turn off the amp sim (since you don't need it) and choose the effects you want and the settings you like, save the patch where you want in your device. Connect your guitar to the POD and the POD output to your amp input. Turn up the POD volume. That's it! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Try uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it manually (i.e. not via the monkey app). In the "download" section of this site there are at least 2 driver versions available for windows 10 _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

I was wondering if a physical accident happened right after installing the drivers.. however, to exclude problems deriving from the computer used in particular, it would not be a bad idea to try to install everything temporarily on another one. EDIT! Oh oh oh !! I just noticed the following: You said: The computer does not recognize the pod anymore (unknown device) and keeps connection and disconnecting the device itself over the USB hub. Rule n.1 You should never connect the the POD to USB hubs, the device must be connected always to one of the main USB ports. and to USB 2.0 type only. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Check also the delicate USB port of the POD for damage. Sometimes it happens that it gets damaged when you accidentally hit the plug connected to it. Also try connecting the POD to a different computer. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

did you read the Line6 announcement at the top of this page? --->> MacOS 11 Compatibility with Line 6 Software but on Catalina there is a working solution: forget the Monkey app and follow the instructions given in the folowing post and video clip: https://line6.com/support/topic/54497-line-6-monkey-and-catalina/?do=findComment&comment=346128 _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Can I set up Volume without using up one of the 8 foot switches?
hurghanico replied to jjengle's topic in POD HD
Yes, just assign the channel volume of the amp model to the expression pedal mode you prefer, EXP 2 or EXP 1, and set the min and max reachable values. EDIT: just a small clarification: in reality, the volume block is usually assigned to the dedicated toe switch under the pedal, and not to one of the 8 available footswitches which therefore remain free to be assigned to other effects or amps. I hope I am not mistaken in believing that in your question by saying "one of the 8 footswitches" you actually meant to say "one of the 8 available effect slots/blocks". In fact the one above is intended as an answer to the (reformulated) question: can I control the volume without having to sacrifice one of the only 8 blocks available? _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips -
Here is the link to a good guide on how to set up the Zoom video conferencing software to do online music lessons: Complete Guide to Zoom Audio Settings for Music Teachers In the above guide it is not specified how and which audio interface to set in Zoom, and therefore I will explain it below here for guitarists who use modelers: It is possible to choose only one audio interface and since most multi-fx/modelers work also as audio interfaces, in the audio settings we simply choose the device connected to the USB we are currently using. In the patch chosen for streaming used to process the guitar sound it is necessary for the voice to select/enable also the mic input whose signal must go into a separate dedicated clean path. Good luck! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Although I have a Variax guitar that can be tuned virtually any way you want and does the job very well, on occasion I have used instead the POD's pitch shifter to play for example some Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan songs with the effect set down by half a tone or two, and the result was good, and how well it worked for me it worked well for others too. Actually the POD pitch shifter was designed to play monophonically one note at a time, but I have not experienced any problems playing multiple notes at a time . As long as the amplified sound is loud enough to completely cover the acoustic resonance of the guitar (still in standard tuning), there are no audible problems. That said others have complained that the above solution didn't work well in their case. I think it matters also where the effect is placed in the chain, personally I put it in the very first place so that it processes the still pure unprocessed guitar signal. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

When you turn off an amp model a new parameter appears in place of the amp channel volume, ie the bypass volume. Turn it down to zero. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
