IMO the POD connected in front of a clean set amp is good if you use it only for effects (no amp models).. If you want instead to use also the amp models (especially the pre-amp versions) the best connection is by the RETURN input, thus bypassing the real pre-amp of your amp and replacing it with one of the modeled ones, this is a proven very good method. In case you want to enable also the cab model in your patches you should experiment with the various POD output modes to see which one sound better for the combination of the modeled cab with the real one. If you go instead for the flat response monitor solution the only good output mode is studio/direct _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

If you have a POD HD500 (not the X version) which could work as a USB interface for the Variax, or if you have the dedicated Variax USB interface you could re-install the latest firmware through the Monkey app. Doing so the Variax is resetted. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

It is a physical switch and usually is quite hard to press It really depends on your taste and needs. Only you can know the answer. However generally speaking it could be useful to know that to get the full representation of the miced amps modeled ready to be recorded you should use a sort of flat response monitoring system, like headphones, PA monitors, keyboard amps, or other similar devices.. To get instead the amp in the room familiar feel (ie not the miced sound) behind you, you need to connect the POD to the RETURN input of a guitar amp you like, or to a power amp connected to a physical cab you like, this is a far less versatile solution compared to the other one, but the amp in the room feel is assured. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

The EP Booster is based on the solid-state pre-amp circuit of the old EP-3 (Echoplex) tape echo. The EP-3 model is available into the POD HD but you can't use just its pre-amp without the echo (at least in the POD HD, don't know about the POD GO).. But there is also the EP-1 model (called tube echo in the POD HD) of which the pre-amp is instead tube based, and with this FX you can use just its pre-amp as a booster if you turn the MIX parameter down to zero thus excluding just the delay/echo effect, in this case even with the MIX at zero the pre-amp continues to work and very well. I tried it, It's a nice booster, but not exactly the same as the one derived from the EP-3 (see Xotic) even if it belongs to the same family/brand. Worth a try. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

How to clean up amp when you roll back volume on guitar
hurghanico replied to tunesmarone's topic in POD HD
High gain amps typically do not clean up very well when lowering the volume of the guitar, the best amps to go from distorted to clean in response to volume changes are instead the mid gain ones, like the Marshall JTM-45 or the Plexi, or others in the same category. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips -
Hi, actually I'm not a POD GO user but I accidentally caught your post because it was on the index page a moment ago. I'd say your problem almost never depends on the particular multi-fx modeler used, or on its parameters settings. This problem very often depends on bad/defective or worn out strings (especially the first 3 unwound ones), when the unwanted awful tremolo thing on high frets happens (and it is normal that the distortion tends to accentuate a lot the defect) it is a sign that you need to replace them. It has always worked for me.

As you have noticed, Line6 programmers have not implemented the zoom function in the Editor window. But Windows 10 OS has already incorporated a useful tool in order to zoom in what you want (in particular the full screen zoom mode): the Magnifier. Here are 2 interesting tutorials on how to use it: How to Zoom and Magnify Desktop Apps in Windows 10 or macOS For those using instead older windows OSes (eg XP) there is a program called DesktopZoom which lets you select and use the full screen zoom mode. The full screen zoom mode is my preferred one because it lets you click and/or type and/or use commands directly into the zoomed view. PS. changing screen resolution as suggested previously by pianoguyy is a working solution, but its drawback is that if you have many icons on your desktop arranged on purpose in a certain way, when/if you set the resolution back to where it was, many icons will be messed up in a different order. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

The Looper in the POD is a separate block, it is located outside the virtual chain (it can only be placed before or after it) and you can't even see it in the computer Editor, and it is probably made with a dedicated hardware component. IMO if the problem of playback noise continues to happen every time you use the Looper maybe that component is broken, but if it has happened only once and never again it is more likely that it was a distraction of the user who didn't realize at the moment that it was also recording noise. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

First of all I recommend putting modulation (POD in this case) before time based effects (delay, reverb). As for the sound that with the POD inserted in the chain is no longer the same as before, I guess you are referring to the sound when the POD is bypassed (modulation off), if this is the case I suggest setting the impedance parameter of the patch in use to 1 or 3.5 megaohms instead of AUTO (you can find the impedance parameter between the input settings), this should solve the problem and make the bypassed signal totally transparent/unaffected. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

I'm glad you found a working solution to your problems between win10 and the POD, and clearly that's what matters to you. And it is commendable that you have shared your findings to help others who are having the same problem you have had. Actually I am not directly interested in this topic since especially for music I am still using XP, and despite this, and with an apparently perfect configuration, the BSOD still happens, but just on rare occasions. However I am convinced that Line6's native ASIO driver is better than the generic asio4all both for the important and useful setting options available, and for the achievable level of performance. So in my opinion it would be better to recommend to others to install the Line6 driver and delete asio4all if present to avoid any conflicts between the two (which can easily happen). Another thing to consider: the latest asio4all was released on May 23, 2017, while the latest Line6 driver on Nov 6, 2019, so I don't see how asio4all can be more current or better than the native driver. If there are problems installing properly the Line6 driver on a certain system, you should find how to get around them. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Se pierden los efectos y volumen de la seƱal POD HD 500X
hurghanico replied to rudydeni's topic in POD HD
Save your patches on your computer, reinstall the firmware, then do the global reset, and finally the pedal calibration, reload the previously saved patches in the device .. If after doing all of the above the problem persists, your POD needs to be repaired _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips -
The proper way to see if the pedal is working fine is by doing the pedal calibration, link here for instructions: https://line6.com/support/page/kb/pod/pod-hd500-hd500x/pod-hd500xhd500-pedal-calibration-r161/ If you do it and all the results are as they should be you can be sure that the pedal is OK, if not, maybe that the internal cable that connects the pedal to the mainboard is disconnected, or maybe that the pedal optical sensors are gone. EDIT: I forgot to say that even if the pedal changes successfully from EXP1 to EXP2 it doesn't necessarily mean that the Wah or Volume are there ready to be used. In order to have the Wah and/or Volume working with the pedal, the corresponding effects must be present in the chain and assigned to EXP1 or EXP2. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Check if the POD still works fine disconnected from your computer with the speakers (and headphones) connected to its outputs. Also check if the USB port on the POD is damaged. If everything is fine, the problem is probably that when you installed the Editor the driver was also installed again, and its installation was not successful. As you can see from two of the Line6 announcements at the top of this page, with macOS there can be problems with the correct installation of the driver and therefore the recognition of the device, so follow the advices given there. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Simple. Move the cursor over the amp model, double click the MOVE button, with the encoder n.1 select the parameter (in your case VOLUME), with encoder n.2 select the controller (EXP1), and select the min and max values with the encoders 3 and 4. if you want to make permanent the editings save the patch _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

As it has been pointed out, POD has its venerable age from an electronic point of view. At the time it was released, USB 2.0 existed but not USB 3.0. And in fact one of the reasons why there are often problems connecting the POD to the most modern computers is the use of USB 3.0 ports which even if they are said to be backwards compatible with USB 2.0 in reality they are only partially. The only way to ensure full compatibility with the POD is to connect it to USB 2.0 only ports. If you have at least one USB 2.0 only port (uncolored internally) available on your computer you are in luck, otherwise not. Also, if you can avoid having other devices connected by USB at the same time when using the POD, it's better. Good luck! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Yes, you can.. What silverhead said is perfectly valid when it comes to editing patches directly on the device. As for the behavior of the Editor, it temporarily keeps in memory (until you close the program) all the edits made to all the patches present read from the device. However, as long as you do not use the SEND command of the Editor the original patches present in the POD are never modified, so if you close the editor without using the above command, you will find then all the patches in the device exactly as they were previously. The main difference between the behavior of the POD (alone) and the Editor is that in the POD (with no Editor running) when you select and edit a patch its data are copied to 1 volatile buffer, and changes to the current patch are made permanent only if you use the SAVE command, otherwise they are lost and the original patch data remains unaltered. As soon as a new patch is selected, its data is copied into the only existing volatile buffery, thus taking the place of the previously selected patch data. The editor, on the other hand, does not have the " just 1 single volatile buffer" limit, but temporarily stores any changes made to all the patches present read, and in any case the original patches contained in the device are not touched in any way until the SEND command is used. Tip: If while using the Editor you edit a patch and at some point want to get it back in the Editor to how it was originally, simply select the patch in the Editor and use the RECEIVE SELECTED command, and the original untouched patch data will be read again from the device. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

In general the cab/speaker/mic chosen represents more than 50% of the sound of an amp.. the external IRs (very similar in concept to the cab/speaker/mic models already included in Helix which are also derived from IRs) are useful simply to have a greater number of different cabs/speakers/mics to choose from. When you choose an internal or external (IR) cab/speaker/mic you do it only according to the sound you are looking for when you pair it with a certain amp, in general there is no IR that is better than another, they are all different, but there are certainly those you would personally prefer based on the resulting final sound when you finally hear them. the problem is that you cannot know in advance (unless you have already experienced it) what the final result will be when you match a certain IR to a certain amp (plus there are several other variables involved, but let stop here). So any IR needs to be tested personally to see if based on your taste/needs it really fits well in a certain pairing. If you want you can read a short explanation about IRs given by Ownhammer (well known IRs maker) here: https://www.ownhammer.com/tutorials/general/ _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Giving examples of patches for different uses/scenarios IMO would not be very useful, as the best thing to do is to build them on the spot by yourself based on your instrumentation, way of playing, and the context in which you are at the moment. Eg: - recording of a track to be inserted among others of other instruments, where therefore a certain equalization helps you to hear your own instrument and all the others in a distinct way, and obviously the equalization changes according to the song and the instruments already present. - live at high volume, the general equalization of the various channels of the various instruments is up to the sound engineer (if any). as for the guitarist's live sound (compared to the low volume sound at home or in the studio) it is often necessary to boost the mid frequencies (or lower the bass and treble a little and turn up the volume which is more or less the same thing ) to ensure that the guitar signal does not get lost among the other instruments and is well present in the overall mix (for the scientific explanation of why you need more mids at high volume see The Fletcher and Munson Curve). _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Is there a way to export parameters or settings to spreadsheet?
hurghanico replied to brokenbones's topic in POD HD
No.. AFAIK there is not.. but you can still open the HD500X Edit program, load your POD patches and see your settings and parameters from there.. the editor works also offline, ie with no device connected _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
