  1. Since your VP expects an instrument level input signal first I would set (if it isn't already) the FX LOOP switch (on the rear panel) to STOMP. In regard to the FX LOOP block settings I would start with the default settings, ie SEND zero, RETURN zero, MIX 100%.. If the resulting signal is too low you can increase the RETURN level value as needed.. In case you get too much noise you could try instead to set the FX LOOP switch to LINE (hotter) and if the resulting signal is too loud you can lower the SEND level value as needed.. In any case you can also fine tune your VP boosting level to find the best balance. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  2. Maybe by using the POD noise gate in an unconventional way with some extreme settings, but honestly I don't think the result would be any good for the given purpose. I think it would be much better to work instead on the guitar rather than on the POD, for example by damping a little the string with a cloth (or else) placed under them near the bridge (or at the nut). For a buzuki type effect probably I would use the pitch glide fx to get a 2nd signal slight detuned to be mixed with the original one, and I would play only on the first strings. A Fender amp model which is a bit mid scooped should work nicely for a somewhat nasal type of sound. Add reverb for more resonance. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  3. It is possible to get the digital dry unprocessed signal (see below here) but that digital signal cannot be sent to an analog input, but only to a digital input. To get and record an analog dry unprocessed signal you need to use special built patches where one of 2 the parallel paths is empty, and in your DAW select the side of the POD dual mono/stereo signal which corresponds to that empty path. That's the trick. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  4. ... is not possible.. but you can find and easily use a 2 button MIDI programmable controller.. there are several on the market with different prices, find the one that best suits your needs. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  5. I used the pitch glide several times to play some songs 1 or 2 half steps down, never had a problem as long as the live volume was so loud that I couldn't hear at all the acoustic sound coming from the electric guitar. (Some electric guitars resonate acoustically very much) If weird resonances really happen in the guitar signal when using the pitch glide to transpose the tuning, the best proof would be to record the transposed signal and then listen to the playback, if the recording is perfectly ok (as it most probably is) it means that the live annoying resonances are due only to the fact that you can still perceive the acoustic sound in its original tuning together with the transposed signal. In my opinion it is better to PG down, it's more natural sounding than PG up which in comparison sounds a bit more fake and thin. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  6. Connect the POD SEND output to your Volume Pedal input, and connect your VP output to the POD RETURN input. Put a FX LOOP block in the chain of your patches and move it where you like to be your VP: at the beginning, at the end, or somewhere in between the other blocks. It should work. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  7. Correct 4 cable method scheme: set the mix to 100% and make sure the FX LOOP block in the POD chain is turned on.. probably your JCM 2000 has a parallel type of FX LOOP controlled by a MASTER FX MIX control.. the parallel type FX LOOPS used as such (ie with the MASTER FX MIX control set somewhere between the min and max settings) are useful when you need to put some separate FXs like delay or reverbs stomp boxes set totally wet in the amp FX LOOP and use the MASTER FX MIX control to balance the wet signal with the amps direct signal.. but in a 4CM configuration it would be better to set the MASTER FX MIX control on full/max, doing so the amp FX LOOP would work as a standard serial (instead of parallel) FX LOOP more suited in this case. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  8. Did you try to put your VP in the POD FX LOOP (between the SEND and RETURN)? _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  9. Probably you don't really have to use a 2nd audio interface, you can use just the POD as the main AI, and take advantage of the Zoom option to share the audio from the applications installed on your computer. (And you could better use the POD headphones output just for monitoring everything) Here are the working instructions (in the article the music playback is for a different purpose than yours, but the operating principle is the same), copied and pasted from this article: https://support.movegb.com/how-to-play-music-over-your-live-stream-on-zoom Let me know if it works, and good job! How to play music over your Live Stream on Zoom If you're using Zoom to live stream your classes, then here's how to make the sound, sound great! Teaching classes online opens up a new world of possibilities and like training for face to face teaching, online teaching requires you to familiarise yourself with the tools too to get it right. As an instructor, you want to provide the best class you can to your new online members while making the class feel as normal as possible as if they were there in the room with you. One of the best and easiest ways of doing this is by playing music while teaching. It is important that you use this option to share sound correctly as it needs to be playing through the 'meeting' and not being played on any device to be picked up by your microphone. Doing the latter will interfere with your voice and cause poor sound quality. Step 1: When you join your meeting before the customers attend, click on the “share” button at the bottom of the page. Once you’ve entered the meeting, you will see at the bottom of your screen a couple of different options. Click on the green “share” button (this may say share screen). It will open up a secondary window with a list of options. Don’t worry, this will not close or stop your meeting. It is advisable that you set this up before the class so as to avoid an awkward interaction with your members as they wait for you to set this up. Please note: The “share screen” button may be in a different location, depending on what Operating System and device you are using. Ensure that your sound both on your device and within the meeting is not muted. Step 2: Click on the “advanced” option tab at the top of the screen. You don’t need to select anything from the “basic” option. This is for screen sharing and not for audio sharing. The “advanced” option tab should be located between the “basic” tab and the “files” tab. Step 3: Click on the middle option, “Music or Computer Sound Only”. Clicking this box allows you to share whatever sound or music is coming out of your computer. It does not mute your mic, so you can speak and play music at the same time. Once you have click on this box, click the “share” button at the bottom right-hand side of the screen. Once you start sharing, you should see a green and red box at the top of your meeting screen with the words, “You are sharing computer sound” and “stop share”. This will let you know that it’s working. Step 4: Play music from whichever app or website you want. Go to whatever music playing app or website you wish to use and choose your music. You will definitely want to adjust the sound on the music playing service you’re using (not your entire computer volume) so that your voice can be heard over it. If the music is still too loud, go to your device settings and change your microphone options to increase the volume. Microphones and Headphones? To ensure clear and consistent sound, we advise using a good quality microphone if possible so that your lovely voice can be picked up clearly. It can be advised to use headphones too when instructing and playing music, so that the music that's playing doesn't get picked up by your microphone. When the sound is playing through the meeting on your computer, but also getting relayed through your microphone it can create out of phase music. Step 5: Have an amazing class! Once you’re done with the class, just click on the red “stop share” button at the top of the meeting. This will stop the music being shared with the members but it will still play on your device, so remember to stop the music too. Before running your classes we advise that you run some practice sessions with your friends or family to get some feedback and ensure that you're getting it right! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  10. yes, absolutely if you connect to the Guitar Input, not if you connect to AUX or MIC.. so.. no need to buy the Z-Tone thing It depends, everyone has their preferences.. you should decide with your ears.. Just for the record, most guitar amps have 1 megaohm impedance so if you are going to use amp models plugins this value is probably the most appropriate to get the most faithful or intended responses. Moreover the most transparent dry bypass signal is achieved by using 1 mehaohm or more impedance value. All the other impedance values lower than 1 megaohm make the signal progressively darker and weaker, which could be a way to cut some harshness. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  11. You can put the volume pedal (which is different than an expression pedal): - between your guitar and POD, where it affects also the amount of distortion and in general the models response.. somewhat similar to what you'd get by using the guitar volume knob - between the POD and the power-amp, for just volume changes - in the POD FX LOOP if you need to put it not at the beginning or at the end of the POD but in between the other FX models in the chain _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  12. It's not clear if you are speaking about the 700 electric or acoustic.. In regard to the 700 electric (the one I own) there are 2 available firmwares: 3.05 released in 2005, and 3.10 released in 2006. (For the record, I have the last one 3.10 installed in my 700 and it works perfectly, so maybe your first attempt to update your 700 didn't go well, and a 2nd try could be worth the effort) For some unknown reasons you can see both of them listed in the selection menu of the download page only if you select the windows xp OS. That's the trick. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  13. There are many guitarists who use 2 amps live, eg one that is particularly good for clean sounds like a twin reverb, and one particularly good for distorted ones like a marshall plexi. In the POD, putting 2 mutually exclusive different amps in a single patch (instead of 2 dedicated patches) is useful to avoid completely the lag time that would occur instead when changing patches. Another possible good reason to use 2 amps in one patch is that very often in recording studios is used to place in front of a cab speaker 2 different and complementary microphones such as the bright SM57 with the warm Royer 121 and mix their signals to get the ideal sound. Unfortunately in the POD it is not possible to combine 2 different microphones for the same cab/speaker, and therefore the only way is to use 2 equal amps with the same cab/speaker but different microphone. Finally, combining different amps is a way to create new amp sounds not otherwise obtainable with just one. If you like, it is a way to multiply the loaves and fishes. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  14. Why not? I think they have exactly the same features with regards to Delay effects and Looper. Actually the POD Looper compared to the DL4 offers more: up to 24 seconds recording time (48 seconds at half speed).. the DL4: up to 14 seconds recording time (28 seconds at half speed). _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  15. Hi, I'm still using the "dinosaur" and I play also jazz, but nothig similar to the Bill Frisell style, and honestly I haven't tried much to find types of sound similar to the ones in the video clip. But what I know is that all the delay models which are in the DL4 are also in the HD500 (with the advantage in the POD of having an expression pedal already incorporated), so unless you need to use a smaller unit I wouldn't suggest to buy the DL4. Moreover, based on what I hear in the video clip I would say that with the POD it should be possible to get those sound effects (time/pitch change, loop reversal kind of stuff) quite easily. The tools are there if you want to use them. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  16. Maybe he can unregister a device S/N but AFAIK to de-authorize the model packs from it he needs to have that device with him connected to his computer. So I guess that until there is around somewhere 1 POD with the model pack still authorized by a certain license number, the license owner can authorize up to 3 remaining devices according to my calculations, but I could be wrong for reasons I don't know yet. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  17. Probably was me. My HD500 shows that that the USB firmware is v0.00 until I connect it to the computer, after which it finally shows the correct version, and continues to do so even if I disconnect it. As soon as I turn on the POD without connecting it, the shown USB version returns to zero. My device works fine. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  18. Look! .. it seems exactly what happened to you: here is the old thread where the above pic comes from and where the issue has been discussed: https://line6.com/support/topic/18562-variax-700-no-output-from-digital-and-14/ it would seem that the possible cause of the problem may have been having the batteries connected while also connected with the VDI... ..or touching the battery to the connector backwards _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  19. With 1 license you can authorize up to 4 devices registered into your Line6 account. Therefore if you still own the license you can authorize other 3 devices. everything is explained here: https://l6c-acdn2.line6.net/data/6/0a020a3f163135da4e95e1ebd8/application/pdf/POD HD Complete _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  20. Audacity in this case is not needed . Use the Zoom audio settings and choose the POD as the audio interface.. For the guitar and voice you need to create a patch where each path is separate and independent, one path dedicated to the guitar, and the other to the mic. The mp3 playback should work with any media player set to use the POD as audio interface, I'not sure if you have to enable or not the sharing of the media player window (or your desktop) in order to make the remote listener hearing what you are hearing. Tip: For monitoring in such scenario you shouldn't never use external speakers, but only headphones. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  21. There are not ready made presets, you can find the new models listed between all the other amp models when you build/edit a preset. the bass amps and their corresponding models are: Ampeg SVT Normal Ch. = SVT NRM Ampeg SVT Bright Ch. = SVT BRT GK Gallien-Kruger 800RB = G COUGAR 800 the bass cabs are: Ampeg SVT 8x10 = 810 SV BEAST Ampeg SVT 410HLF = 410 RHINO _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  22. yes, but in the above configuration you wouldn't have the effects, if it matters to you.. wasn't that the reason why you initially thought about integrating a multi-fx modeler with the Victory? _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  23. No, you wouldn't.. All the Helix series products have separate/independent cabs which can also load external impulse responses _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  24. You're welcome. Unfortunately with the POD to use its cab modeling you have to activate also an amp or preamp model (I forgot to also consider this important point in my previous post). In this case I would suggest to choose the most flat response pre-amp available in the POD in order to affect the least possible the tone of your external pre-amp. Usually the bass pre-amps (a bit similar to PA preamps) are much more flat response than the ones for guitar, so I guess that the one called Flip Top Pre could be a candidate as an almost transparent pre-amp, which you can combine with any of the available cabs for guitar. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  25. the problem is that unfortunately the "cure" itself is sometimes the origin of the problem if it does not happen 100% correctly in which case not always there would be notifications. it is also important to do a global reset and a pedal calibration after each firmware re-installation, just to avoid strange and unexpected device behaviors. https://line6.com/support/page/kb/pod/pod-hd500-hd500x/after-pod-hd500x500-flashre-flashupdate-mandatory-global-settings-reset33-r160/ _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
