Surely the POD doesn't send any MIDI through USB, but only through its MIDI OUT connector.. Therefore I guess that at least you will need an external MIDI interface (or an audio interface provided with MIDI) to be able to send MIDI commands from the POD to your MacBook. I never used MacBook and the GarageBand program, so I don't know how it should be setup to receive MIDI commands, but I guess it should be quite simple. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Hoping that the USB controller chip has not been damaged too, to find a new USB connector replacement part near your country look for 649-61729-1011BLF by using google-- Here is a video clip with a few DIY suggestions If you need also to replace the USB controller chip I believe you should look for CY7C68013A-56PVXC _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

You could connect the POD to the Spider mp3 input and use the amp solid state power-amp and speaker only to make the POD signal loud, your Spider amp would be used only as sort of monitor, without taking advantage of any of its main features.. in the above case the connection scheme would be: Guit-->POD (effects and amp models)-->Spider mp3 input IMO a better solution would be connecting the POD to the Spider Guitar input and use the POD only for the effects and the Spider for the amp models, basically it would be like having a traditional pedal board between the guitar and the amp.. the connection scheme would be: Guit-->POD (only effects)-->Spider (only amp models) in case at same point you get a decent FRFR monitor that will be the best solution since you'll take advantage of both the effects and amp models included in the POD but with a better monitoring system than what you'd get through the mp3 input of the Spider, and everything will be managed from the POD patches and controls. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

in addition to assigning the wah (or other effect) to one of the two pedal modes (EXP1 or EXP2) it is also necessary to assign the switching off/on of the effect to the TOE switch, otherwise the wah (or other assigned effect) always remains in its current state off or on. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

After more careful analysis/reasoning , the above reported sentences gave me a suspicion: isn't it that you bought the model packs for the previous generation of the POD instead of the ones dedicated to the HD series? Because in this case it would be impossible to authorize them in the POD HD. If you have exactly the same screen I have, especially the first one I posted, those model packs are not for the POD HD family. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

I have all the HD model packs (bought separately in different times, not the bundle) plus the model packs for the XTL and POD Farm. In the following pic you can see what I see in the License manager in regard to my computer: just the XTL and POD Farm model packs, and POD Farm and here what I see in regard to my HD500: you can see that the POD is authorized but the add ons are not listed at all, but I have them all in my devices and I use them without any issue. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

First advice: stop repeatedly authorizing and deauthorizing your stuff because there is a limited number of times you can do it, after which you'll have to ask the Line6 staff if they can give you further permissions to do it again.. Second: The License Manager is not the best program made by Line6, and it happens that even if the model packs are actually already installed/authorized in the device, you don't see them listed between the device add ons in the License Manager.. In order to see if the model packs are actually installed/authorized in your device the best and reliable method is directly on the device: press and hold the VIEW button to access the system settings and go to the last page, over there you will see listed what you have installed in your device, if you see your model packs listed nothing else to do is necessary. PS. The HD model packs have nothing to do with POD FARM _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

If you have already tried another power supply with exactly the same specs as the original, the last possibility (if you have not already done so) is to try a firmware update in safe mode. Here is the procedure: Power Up the device while pressing the Nav Pad Down button. On the device screen you should see UPDATE FLASH. Connect the device to the computer through USB. If the device is recognized by the computer (if not there is nothing else to do than have it repaired) you can use the Monkey program to re-install the latest firmware,. When done, do a Global Reset and finally a Pedal Calibration _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

HD 500 NO FUNCIONA PEDAL DE EXPRESION Y BOTONES INFERIORES
hurghanico replied to jmmurallas's topic in POD HD
Make sure the device footswitch mode is set to ABCD and not 5 - 8. (press and hold the VIEW button to access the system settings) Make sure that no jack is inserted into the PEDAL2 jack. If necessary, do a Global Reset and finally a Pedal Calibration _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips -
The Monkey application can be used to update several Line6 products for some of which you can also use the MIDI connection to do the flashing (that's why the sentence you highlighted in the above pic says that you can use also the MIDI cable), unfortunately the HD series is not among those, and can only be updated via USB. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

The Hiwatt 103 amp has more clean headroom than other rock amps like the Plexi that instead distorts earlier with lower settings . So to make it distort by itself (with no pedals) it needs to be turned up quite a lot. By default its amp model has the master volume parameter set halfway at 50%, therefore you can still turn it up more to make its power-amp distorting much more. If not enough, especially if you are using a single coil equipped guitar, put the provided booster FX in front of the amp model, or use the Studio EQ as a clean full frequency booster, or one of the provided overdrive FXs, or some combinations of those mentioned FXs, any solution gives different distortion flavors. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Given for granted that it's absolutely normal that an amp with a certain volume output number/value is perceived much louder when distored than when it is clean.. the simpler solution to get what you need would be to do 2 patches with the same amp, each one with its different DRIVE setting, set the volume of the CLEAN patch to be fairly high to get the best signal/noise ratio, then compare the distorted patch to the clean one and set its volume to get the same perceived volume (surely its volume number will need to be set to a lower value than in the clean patch). If the small lag time which occours when swithing patches is a problem, alternatively and by using just one patch you could assign both the amp DRIVE and VOLUME parameters to the Expression Pedal and set the min a max values of the parameters to work in the opposite direction of each other, ie when (by using the pedal) the amp DRIVE increases the VOLUME decreases at the same time to compensate for the perceived different volume which would occour not doing so, and viceversa. another solution could be to build a patch with 2 same amps in the chain but with different DRIVE and VOLUME settings and assign both of them (when one is turned on and the other is turned off) to the same footswitch, so you can switch between them 2 easily (and without lag time), but this solution is DSP hungry and you wouldn't be left with much resources to add many other blocks in the chain. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

To be honest I never tried it, but I guess that the following suggestions might work fine for your needs.. In your DAW right click the metronome button, click its 'routing' button, and select which output 1 or 2 you'd like the metronome to go to. Plug a dummy jack into the POD output chosen above to keep the stereo outputs separation of the device, ie to avoid the L and R mixing/summing to mono which happens automatically when only one jack is inserted in one of the POD jack outputs. For the connection to PA you'll use only the other POD output. Still in Reaper right click on the routing button of the backing track and route its output to an output other than the one chosen above for the metronome, and connect the corresponding POD output to your PA. If your POD patches signals end as stereo use the mixer block in the chain to pan both the 2 channels L and R to the same side set for the backing tracks, the one going to the PA, or mono-ize the final stereo signal by putting a mono FX at the very end of the chain, eg a noise gate with neutral setting (ie doing nothing other than mono-izing the patch signal, it shouldn't affect also the DAW signal). In your heaphones the metronome will be on one side only, and the rest (guitar and backing tracks, in mono) on the other side, doing so no metronome should reach the PA, but only the backing tracks and your guitar signals (in mono). Let me know if it works. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

The quickest way is to daisy chain connecting the additional speakers you have to the speakers directly connected to the Left and Right outputs of the POD. But in order to be able to daisy chain connecting the speakers at least 2 of them (the ones connected directly to the POD) must be provided with connector labeled “Output,” “Mix Output,” or “Link Output” that is used for daisy chain connecting speakers together. See the scheme in the pic below ( but imagine that there is the POD instead of the mixer ) _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Replacement Jack For Variax 300
hurghanico replied to dethpoi's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
Unless you cannibalize another Variax it is almost impossible nowdays to find a jack plate assembly spare part, which would be quite easy to replace, sort of plug and play.. So the other solution which however would require very good soldering skills is to replace just the Neutrik connector.. The following one should work fine: Neutrik NE8FAV vertical PCB mount RJ45 receptacle _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips -
Good question.. Several guitarists add an EQ FX just after the overdrive/distortion effect to better sculpt the resulting distortion.. Line6 designers had the very good idea to add the post-EQ built in some FX blocks so you don't have to waste one of the available FX slots to add one. In regard to the bonus EQ settings, if you want the unadorned original behavior of the modelled FXs, the added EQ controls must be set to 50% as they are active (not passive), therefore their neutral setting is at 50%, half way. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Given that you are going to use a full real amp (pre-amp+power-amp in a box), you don't need the amp models anymore, unless you want instead to create several hybrids (which could be very cool), basically combining the POD pre-amp models with the real power-amp+cab, in this case you could avoid using the 4CM and simply connect the POD directly to the RETURN input of your amp (thus bypassing the real pre-amp and connecting only to the real power-amp). (2 cable method) GTR-->POD-->AMP RETURN _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

IIRC there is a sort of USB3 to USB2 driver downgrade procedure to make the USB3 ports working only as USB2, but I don't remember where I saw it. Who knows, it might work, if it could be a viable solution for you, try a search for it online. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

In the following order: 1) make sure not to connect the POD to USB 3 ports (they are not compatible with the POD), connect to USB 2 only ports.. 2) check the USB cable 3) check the device USB port, if it looks like this it is broken this one is fine (see the plastic rectangle in the middle) ----------------------------------------- In regard to the displayed USB firmware version, my device that has been working for years shows always the USB version zero (as in your case) until it is connected to the computer and is recognized, after which it finally shows the version 1.04 of the USB firmware. If the USB port is not working the device cannot be recognized. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

The ideal is that both the device output and your AI input are set for the same type of signal (the stronger LINE or the weaker AMP/INST/MIC).. I suggest to set both of them to LINE for a better signal to noise ratio. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Perhaps the assigned footswitch does not work well or needs to be cleaned internally.. if you have an other footswitch free left (hopefully working) try to assign the chorus instead to it.. Off topic but I can't help noticing the originality of the way you organized the chain of amp and effects, pratically the opposite of what most guitarists would do, but the important thing is to be happy with the results and everything is really possible. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

As pointed out by "pianoguyy" above, in your first post you spoke about something strange happening to the tone when changing patches and then returning to the previous ones, and not about what weird happens after some time passes. However, given your last news and described symptoms I would say that the problem is related to some hardware failure, and not to user error settings. So now you have to make some tests and discover which one between the POD and your monitor system is failing. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

It sounds like you are using your device connected to your computer with the Editor running. If so, keep reading the following text. Differently than when using the device disconnected alone, the Editor retains all the changes made to any preset until it is running, and by saying "changes" I mean everything from switching on/off something in the chain and/or twisting some controls like volume drive etc. Eg if with Editor running you select a preset, engage the Wah, then select a different preset, and finally go back to the previous preset, probably it will not sound as expected because the wah is still turned on (retained parameter or on/off change) from before you changed preset. If this is the case it is normal behavior of the Editor, and since it retains always all the changes made to any preset (until it is running), to get again the original preset data (which however are still safely stored into the device) and behavior with the Editor still running you have to receive again the preset data from the device with the dedicated command in the up left corner. As said at the beginning of this post, the POD used disconnected alone behaves differently than the Editor and it doesn't retain any changes made to a preset (unless you save the preset in its current state) as soon as you select an other one. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
