  1. In the appendix about MIDI of the advanced guide is written: "Load a Preset within the current Set List: Send a Program Change message (Value 0-63 for Preset 01A - 16D) for the desired Preset within the current Set List." which means that from your Midi Controller you have to send a Program Change (obviously both your MIDI controller and the POD should communicate through the same MIDI channel number) to the POD, and it means also that the Program Changes (within any currently selected Set List) corresponding to the presets in the POD are organized following a fixed sequence of progressive numerical values (from 0 to 63), therefore if as an example with your Midi Controller you send the Program Change zero you'll get the preset A of bank 1 of the POD, if you send the Program Change 1 you'll get the preset B of bank 1, if you send the Program Change 4 you'll get the preset A of bank 2, if you send the Program Change 63 you'll get the (last) preset D of bank 16, and so on,... I guess you get it. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  2. Certainly you can use your Revv G4 as the preamp, probably the best place for it would be in the FX LOOP of the POD, so you can place some FX models also in front of it eg the wah and/or compressor. In this case you will need also to put a FX LOOP block (which basically will represent your Revv G4) in the virtual chain of your patches, and you can move it where you like between the other FXs (models). All the cab models included in the POD are based on IRs but they can bypassed (since you're using a real one), actually if you don't enable the amp models (since you are already using your Revv G4 for the amp tone) you don't even have to worry about the cabs as they are tied always to the amp models (in few words: "no amp" means automatically "no cab" in the POD). You didn't say if your cabinet is already powered or not, if not you will need to add a power-amp between the POD and your cab, otherwise your cab will not work, even something very small and practical like this one: https://www.ehx.com/products/44-magnum _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

  4. Given that the L and R outputs surely work as expected (good sign on the POD side, and good starting point for further investigations) connect them to an audio interface if you have one, and then connect your headphones to the audio interface headphones output, and see if your headphones are really working fine in stereo.. If you don't have an audio interface use a Y cable (2 male mono to 1 female stereo) to make the connection between the POD jack outputs and your headphones. The signal coming from the standard jack outputs is weaker than the one coming from the headphones output but it should still suffice to make them work especially if they are low impedance (make sure the 1/4" OUT switch near the pedal is set to LINE) so set the master volume as needed. Any of the tests above serves to confirm if the problem is actually due to your headphones, as I strongly suspect, or to the POD headphones output. PS. another very simple and banal thing that you should have checked from the beginning came to mind only now: are you sure you have inserted the headphones plug all the way into the jack connector?? _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  5. Weird! Of the ones below here, what does your headphones plug (or 3.5mm to 6.35mm Jack adaptor) look like? By logic if, as you said, you connect your headphones to the POD headphones output and it works perfectly, if you then connect the "mini Jack Stereo to 2 Jack Mono" cable to the same POD headphones output above, and do the connection to your 2 monitors, both of them should work perfectly as well. If not, it means that generally the Left channel of yout POD is not working properly, and your headphones are working ok only apparently, maybe because their plug (or adapter) is not stereo but mono, or it is not inserted all the way into the connector. If you come to the conclusion that it actually is the Left channel generally not working as expected, although I have always believed (perhaps wrongly, you never know) that when the POD is disconnected from the computer it no longer continues to be influenced by the settings made through the audio control panel of the operating system, perhaps it would still be worth checking the above settings with the device still connected to dispel any doubts. If you open the audio control panel of the OS (assuming that the POD is already set as its AI) you should see a sort of mixer where for each audio channel (assigned in this case to the POD) you have a volume control and a balance control. I wonder if for some unknown reason the balance control has recently moved involuntarily to the right (instead of being in the center), if so it would be easy to reposition it. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  6. If you can check the L and R jack outputs connected at the same time to 2 monitors.. or connect the POD L and R jacks to an audio interface, and see if both signals are active on the respective sides. Normally the POD automatically sums into 1 mono signal both L and R sides of the stereo signal only when just one 1/4" jack output is connected, but in any case the XLR and headphones outputs remain always stereo. Sometimes people forget to check the mixer block pan settings which should be set one opposite of the other to get stereo. Moreover patches corrupted or made with a different firmware version could make the POD behaving not as expected, eg you could see certain settings on screen but the results are not corresponding to them. Eg you could see the mixer faders both up but you hear only one side of the stereo signal, then if you try to move the fader of the involuntarily muted side it starts suddenly working again as it should. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  7. If as you said above this problem happens when you use the POD as AI (and supposedly not when you use the POD alone disconnected) the problem could be due to the audio settings of your computer OS, or to the audio settings in your recording software, or to the driver not working well for some reason.. If the POD is working fine alone disconnected, I would say that the problem is not caused by it. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

  10. No alternative AFAIK.. However, I tried just now to download from this site the 36.9 MB - POD HD500X Edit v2.27 Installer.exe.. I have a good connection and it took about 2 minutes, it seems slow from the source but still acceptable.. Who knows, maybe because of the actual panic from Covid-19 the lines of communication are a bit clogged. If I could I would have attacked the file to this post, but currently the max size I could attack is 1.25MB _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  11. The POD Master Volume physical knob control affects all the POD outputs except the FX LOOP SEND and the digital signal going through the USB and S/PIDF. I guess that by connecting digitally the POD to an AI with S/PDIF (possibly small and standalone, basically working just as a D/A converter) and connecting the AI analog outputs to the FOH could be a way to have the POD master volume affecting only the level of your directly connected monitors. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

  14. You are welcome Guitarlogic. I'm sorry you haven't solved it. But I have an idea you might like .. since you said that the headphone output works well (both L & R), maybe you could try using it with a Y cable (ie 1 stereo to 2 mono) to make the connection to your monitors. The headphone output signal probably is a little hotter than what you'd get from the standard outputs, but you can adjust your monitors and POD master volume as needed. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  15. FYI if you set the POD to use the footswitches in FS 5-8 mode, you can use all 8 footswiches to switch on/off effects all the time. The only difference with the FS ABCD mode is that in FS 5-8 mode you have to press 2 footswitches (instead of just 1) every time you want change patch: ie you have to press one of the bank up/down buttons (doesn't matter which one of the 2) and then one of the ABCD FS you want, that's it!.. very simple. The long explanation is that (only) when in FS 5-8 mode, when you press one of the the Bank UP/DOWN FS it doesn't change immediately the Bank, but it puts instead the POD TEMPORARILY in PRESET CHANGE mode, so during this temporary state you can select one of the ABCD patches, or you can change bank with a further Bank UP/DOWN FS press and then select one of the ABCD presets. In any case as soon as you choose one patch all 8 footswitches start working again only for switching on/off effects. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  16. You've probably already reset. no confirmation message appears at the end of the reset procedure which occurs silently. what is ascertainable is that all the global settings (if they have been changed) are restored to the default values (eg the screen contrast), and also the names of the setlists return as the default (but the patches contained therein are not touched). --------------------- for a deeper and more radical reset you could try to install the latest firmware (with the Monkey app) and then do the global reset again. if even doing so the problem persists, then your unit need to be physically repaired _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  17. I gave you already the link to the reset instructions in my previous post.. However you should hold down the left arrow on the navigation button while powering the unit. That's it. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  18. Surely the test you did excludes the computer and the driver installed. Also try swapping the L and R cables to make sure none of them are defective, and if you use jack adapters remember that they too can stop working well. I also recommend to do a Global Reset, or to reset even more deeply do a firmware reinstallation/reflashing followed by a Global Reset. (But remember to save your POD patches to your computer first.) Pod HD Series Reset Procedures (FYI, a global reset should always be done after every firmware update to avoid strange unexpected device behaviors, such as what happened suddenly to yours, so if the last time you installed the firmware you didn't, this could be the reason for your problem ). If the problem persists even after the reset, then all that remains is to take the POD to an authorized technician to repair it. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  19. Try the following: disconnect the device from your computer, turn it off and on again, check if there is still a difference between the Left and Right outputs. If there is still difference, it could be a POD hardware problem, but it could be also a corrupted patch you are currently using (try a different one). If you are using jack adaptors check them too, and check also the cables. If with the POD disconnected from the computer (in which case the windows driver cannot still affect the POD signal) there is no difference between L and R, then obviously it means that the problem comes from the computer. If you have the chance to use an other computer, try it, as a final test. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  20. The only way to get on recording the same tone and sitting in the mix perception of your guitar is to monitor everything (backing track and live sound) through the same speakers (or headphones) all the time. If during your recording you monitor your guitar through a guitar amp, you'll never get the same tone on recording, never!..never!! So, use flat response monitors (or headphones) for monitoring, tweak your tone until sounds as you want, play over the backing track (remember, don't change your monitoring system), tweak again the patch if necessary, do your recordings. Doing so, you can be 100% sure that when you'll listen again to everything you recorded (through the same speakers used on recording) it will sound exactly as it was during recording. Nothing more, nothing less. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  21. Correct! I would say that the above Options 1 and 2 are the answer, your choice depending if your really need re-amping or not with the POD tone. However FYI if your audio interface is provided with S/PDIF you have also the option with the POD (and a digital cable) to send only the dry signal to your AI and DAW while still listening to the wet signal. So in this case no special built dry/wet double chain patches would be needed. There is a dedicated system setting in the POD to decide if the S/PDIF should send the wet or dry signal. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  22. First off this is the POD HD forum.. ;) ah ah.. If I'm not wrong the Spider Metal Green setting should correspond to a Line 6 Original (Hi-Gain) amp model called "Line 6 Agro" with the following description: An aggressive high gain amp with a unique Mid control that will take you though the entire gamut of tone on one knob. How did we do it? The mid knob for this model changes the character of the distortion. When set to minimum the distortion exhibits Fuzz pedal characteristics. When the Mid is set to noon it creates creamy modern high gain amp tones a la Soldano. And when the Mid knob is turned up to Max it’s very much reminiscent of that Class A Vox® sound. Of course, then there are all the places in between... Not sure if to get the above amp model you need to buy and install the Power Pack on your XTL or if it is already included with the latest firmware. On the POD HD the above amp model is included in the optional HD Metal Pack. In any case the same amp model will not sound100% identical in your Spider amp, XTL or POD HD because each of these devices uses a different cab speaker (real or modeled), but with some tweakings you can make them more close to each other. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  23. What you downloaded is the latest firmware version file for the POD HD500 useful to install the firmware in offline mode (instead of online in real time).. With the device connected to your computer you need to run the Monkey app, select the Flash Memory between the listed items, and then press the button UPDATE FROM FILE which will open a window to find/select that file you already downloaded. Doing so will start the firmware flashing procedure, don't touch the device until the flashing ends, and follow all the on screen instructions. After all that you will need to do a Global Reset and finally a Pedal Calibration: https://line6.com/support/page/kb/pod/pod-hd500-hd500x/after-pod-hd500x500-flashre-flashupdate-mandatory-global-settings-reset33-r160/ PS. Using the offline mode to update the firmware (as you are going to do) is more safe than using the online method, because there is no risk to brick the device due to possible internet line interruptions. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  24. Probably a sort of CC to Sysex translator/mapper placed between the POD (still using its footswitches to send MIDI commands) and your sampler could be the answer, like the following: "The Event Processor can map MIDI events or ranges of MIDI events to other MIDI events, filter MIDI events or ranges of MIDI events, trigger MIDI events, toggle between MIDI events, sequence through MIDI events, scale or crossfade MIDI messages, transpose notes, scale velocities, map to and from System Exclusive, NRPN, Bank Select messages" ---->> MIDI Solutions Event Processor price new $ 149 _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  25. Hi Kukuruza, I've been the MIDI stupid (not you), I'm sorry if I accidentally fueled the hope that it is possible to control the start/stop functions of your sequencer remotely from the POD. I realized now that your device for those functions does not require standard MIDI control changes or program changes (which however never go beyond the value 127) but instead SYSTEM REALTIME MESSAGES which the POD is absolutely unable to transmit. Here you can find a post/thread about what I said in regard to your device: https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/midi-switch-controler-for-electribe-management.1862266/#post-24793695 Forgive me for wasting your time.
