Ok.. but did you also login your account from within the license manager window? If yes, then there is some anomaly in the app behavior.. or maybe recently Line6 changed its license use rules.. well, in any case the model pack will not disturb your use of the unit in any way, and if some day you want to re-sell it you can ask a bit more for it compared to the average price for the same unit without any model pack. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

I have a strong suspicion that the op wrongly used the word "download" instead of "upload", and I'm not sure, but to be able to upload it could be necessary to have the device registered in the account you are currently using. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Currently it seems that there are 687,735 registered accounts in the Line6 community.. If you remember your previous nickname try to see if your old account still exists and you can find it between the others here: Search the Community Members If you find it, in the sign in window click on the "forgot you password" link to recover/regenerate it, then you should quickly and automatically receive an email at the address you used when you created your old account with a link to start the password recovery procedure. or more directly: https://line6.com/account/forgot.html _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

If the display shows that you have the metal pack it means that the related add-on amp models are still available to be used when you build/edit patches, which thing makes your unit more appealing for future buyers in case you decide to resell it at some point. Only the one who bought the model pack license can de-authorize your unit with the dedicated command, and he should have the unit close to him and connected by USB when he does the procedure, unless he gives to you his Line6 account ID and password to let you do the procedure by yourself. However due to the Line6 protection against piracy, if you run the license manager being logged in with your Line6 account and with the device connected by USB, the model pack in your device should be automatically de-authorized (and it should disappear) since the license manager can see (once you're logged in) that you are not the owner of the license. If you will never login into the license manager app, the model pack will stay into your unit forever. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Do what pianoguyy said, but connect instead the POD (directly) to your monitor. Then report back what happens. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Infortunately not... The only way to flash the unit is via USB.. If your POD USB port and USB cable are fine, maybe that the driver hasn't be installed properly. I see often in this forum posts by users who have driver/unit recognition problems with Win10 or macOS Mojave. Do a search and maybe you'll find some useful advices in that regard. Personally I'm still running most of my music programs on Win XP, since I don't like all Microsoft OSes from Win 8 onwards. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Check if the POD USB port is fine (check also your USB cable), if it is broken there is no way to do the procedure described previously. (I and several other POD users had to replace the USB port at some point, unfortunately it breaks easily) But you could try to do only the Global Reset (power on the unit while holding the left nav key), who knows maybe it is able to unblock your unit. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Given fo granted that you have already installed the Line6 driver (necessary to make the POD and computer communicate to each other) and the Monkey app in your computer, do the following: - power on the unit while holding the down nav key - the UPDATE FLASH writing will appear on the POD screen - connect the unit to your computer through USB - the unit should be recognized by the operating system, otherwise it is not possible to continue and finish the procedure - run the Monkey app, select FLASH MEMORY and press REINSTALL LATEST when the firmware reinstalling is done, do a Global reset (power on the unit while holding the left nav key), and finally do a pedal calibration _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

If your unit is connected to the computer, open the Line6 audio driver and make sure the Hardware Monitor Level is full up. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

I cannot drag and drop 5xe files to pod hd 500x edit
hurghanico replied to Stingthorn's topic in POD HD
It's not your fault, there is some installation/setup/bug problem between your operating system (Win 10 I guess) and the Editor. However you can still use the OPEN command in the FILE menu, just remember to double click (in order to select it) the slot in the Editor where you want to place the patch before using the FILE/OPEN command. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips -
This could be due to the fact that the Guitar Input doesn't work as it should.. If the Guitar In impedance is set to 1 megaohm, its response should be 100% identical to the AUX input. If you already tried the reinstalling/reset/calibrate procedures, you can not do anything else via software.. I heard some people changed the capacitors in the input stage of the mainboard and solved input problems, but I can't guarantee that it would work also in your case. IIRC the last post of this type had to do with a POD HD300. EDIT: I found that post I was speaking about, here it is: https://line6.com/support/topic/33436-pod-hd-300-problem/?do=findComment&comment=314129 _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

So that confirms the suspect I had. Even if obviously the ideal would be to have a unit 100% working fine, given that the AUX works well, if you don't need to connect other instruments at the same time, you can connect the guitar to the AUX input without losing anything in terms of quality of the passing input signal, as I said previously the Guitar input very often auto-configures itself to use the 1 megaohm impedance, exactly the same impedance of the AUX input. If you absolutely need to use the guitar input your unit needs to be serviced. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

If so, the problem is elsewhere... Does the headphones output work fine?..If yes, try to connect the headphones output to your monitors (the headphones output is a little hotter than the standard output). If you still get low volume, then it means that your monitors need some checking. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

if you managed to record and playback only the dry unprocessed signal of your guitar by having the POD connected to the computer with models active in the chain, it means that the guitar wasn't connected (as it should) to the POD guitar input but instead to the computer audio input (or other AI), and also that the POD was not set as the chosen audio interface in your recording software. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

You posted your question in the wrong forum, there is another forum dedicated to the POD HD series.. However, back to your question, make sure the OUTPUT LEVEL switch (the one related to the outputs you are using) on the rear panel of your POD is set to LINE _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Pod HD 500 Sounds fizzy after playing for a while
hurghanico replied to Jeromebailey's topic in POD HD
Ok, in this case if you used a Variax connected to the VDI while the issue happened, what I said previously doesn't apply. Although it might be still comforting to find that the POD at least works well using its analog inputs. Hope so. Check it. A problem occurred while using the VDI could mean that the problem comes from the POD, but also from the Variax. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips -
The POD SCREAMER is the model of the Ibanez Tube Screamer TS-808. Line6 added post EQ controls as a bonus to all the POD distortion models, so you can save a slot in the chain for a FX other than a EQ, several guitarists like to add an EQ just after the distortion stomp box to sculpt the resulting tone, so there you have it built in ready to be used if you want. If you leave the EQ bonus controls at noon (50%) they do nothing and you get the original unadorned tone of the distortion FX modeled. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Pod HD 500 Sounds fizzy after playing for a while
hurghanico replied to Jeromebailey's topic in POD HD
Are you completely sure that problem comes from the POD and not from your monitoring system? Based on your description, if it is the POD the faulty device, it could be a hardware problem related to the heating of some worn-out component, eg a capacitor.. Maybe the problem has to do only with the Guitar input circuit, try to connect you guitar instead to the AUX input (probablly never used before, and still new in a sense) and see if the problem persists. I don't believe that what you described is a software related problem, but you never know, you could try the usual (software) cure and see if it solves the issue, ie: save your patches, re-install the firmware, do a global reset, do the pedal calibration, reload in the device your previously saved patches _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips -
Based on what I heard so far the Layla recorded in studio version tone was achieved with the bridge single coil PU of a stratocaster and a distorted Fender Champ 5W amp. As already pointed by pianoguyy the guy in the slowed down video clip above is playing over the original full track, that's the reason of the doubled guitar effect you hear and the greater fatness of the resulting tone, however if you like to reproduce the doubled guitar tone you could apply a slap back echo or a short delay (100 ms or less) at the end of the chain of your patch. There is a Fender Champ model (along with other additional vintage amps) in the optional Vintage model pack sold on this website, but you could use other amp models already included in the device to achieve a good Clapton type blues tone like the Marshall JTM-45 or the Fender Bassman. Here is the original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3n92zksrhbc .. a Fender Champ clone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQScFBb0WhA .. and a Clapton live version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmlNAKyJ0WE _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Variax 300 battery connection
hurghanico replied to Hont's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
Somewhere on the mainboard there should be a socket where the following battery cable should be inserted. https://www.fullcompass.com/prod/236796-line-6-21-34-0026-2-variax-main-pcb-to-battery-cable .. and the battery cable in turn should be plugged to the following battery holder. https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=imgres&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwj046-pw-npAhUNLewKHQVPDD8QjB16BAgBEAM&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.it%2Fitm%2FLine-6-Battery-Holder-For-original-Variax-300-500-600-700-series-guitar-%2F221960742340&psig=AOvVaw0_om3yml5Gg6XupXCeFOWZ&ust=1591407033112827 _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips -
Based on your audio clips to me it sounds like there is a hardware problem with the Guitar input, which is the only POD input provided with an analog variable impedance circuit which who knows could have some problem.. As a test I would suggest to try to connect the guitar instead to the AUX input (which has a fixed 1 MegaOhm impedance) to see if the same issue still happens. If it doesn't we could deduce that the problem is only in the Guitar input circuit, otherwise it means that the hardware problem is elsewhere and more internal. In any case if the AUX input works fine, it wouldn't actually be a major disadvantage to continue using it on a normal basis since the input impedance of most guitar amps is 1 MegaOhm. Basically the automatic variable impedance (missing in the AUX input) would be useful only to reproduce a bit more closely the response of some effects that have the input impedance particularly lower than 1 MegaOhm, for example the fuzz face. Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea also to try spraying just a little Deoxit cleaner (or other quality contact cleaner) on the jacks and in the inputs. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Using the POD HD500X in the effects loop for Delay and Reverb only
hurghanico replied to SonicEchoes's topic in POD HD
I don't know if the following is like the missing answer above, however this is what I would suggest: Put the POD between the SEND and RETURN of your amp FX LOOP, set the POD "1/4" OUT" switch near the pedal to LINE, set the POD input impedance to 3.5 megaohms, and to be Global, turn the POD master volume knob full up. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips- 4 replies
