USB Audio Interface Verbindung mit POD HD500 unter WIN11
hurghanico replied to udoschmitz's topic in POD HD
In order to use the POD as an audio interface, the program you use to record must offer the option to choose the Line6 asio driver (other generic asio drivers such as asio4all are not recommended and may conflict with the native driver). The actual and complete installation of the Line6 driver may be hindered by the OS's protection and security system, and it is often necessary to resort to the workaround described in the following linked post: --> Windows 10/11 Memory Integrity/Core Isolation Disables Driver Installation If even after the actual and complete installation of the Line6 driver, system freezes should occur, keep the following in mind: It is often recommended to lower as much as you can the buffer value via the driver settings in order to obtain the lowest possible latency in live monitoring, but doing this makes the computer work harder and older ones may not be able to cope with the lower buffer settings. But if you don't plan to use any plugins on your computer (like IR loaders or DAW effects) during live monitoring it is absolutely useless and counterproductive to set very low buffer values and stress your computer unnecessarily, just disable live monitoring in your DAW and use instead direct hardware monitoring which is practically zero latency and costs nothing in terms of computer hardware resources. Also, connect the POD only to USB 2.0.. avoid the blue ones (USB 3.0) _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips -

USB 1.1 is not the same as USB 2.0 (they look the same but have different specs), as mentioned previously the POD only wants USB 2.0. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

The piezo elements and the slots in the bridge where they are housed must make perfect electrical contact with each other otherwise the necessary ground contact does not work. Tiny pieces of skin from the palm of the picking hand, sweat and dust accumulated over time that get between the piezo and the slot can compromise the grounding and therefore the proper functioning of the piezo with bad symptoms like the one you described. Generally a thorough cleaning with isopropyl alcohol (it cleans perfectly, leaves no streaks and does not damage synthetic parts with which it may come into contact) of the piezo element (gently extracted from its slot being careful not to break the electrical wire that connects it to the invisible board underneath) and its slot, and doing if desired also a 180 degree rotation of the piezo to offer a new contact point to the string, brilliantly solve the problem of either the decreasing volume or the intermittent signal or the unnatural noise that can occur. More than once in years of intense use and only when necessary I have put some piezos of my Variax 700 back into perfect working order simply by doing as said above and it has always been a success. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

The POD must be connected to USB 2.0, not to USB 3.0. It must also be connected to the main USB ports, not to port extensions such as USB HUB. Often the main and best USB ports are those closest to the power cable socket. I have 2 perfectly working PODs and both indicate USB FW:V0.00 on their display while they are disconnected, since they are connected and recognized by the OS they instead indicate USB FW:V1.04. If your POD remains at USB FW:V0.00 after connecting to the computer it means that it is not recognized by the OS, which can be due to one of 3 problems: 1) the driver on the computer is not installed correctly. In this case completely uninstall the driver and install again, avoiding that the computer security system blocks the complete installation of the driver. 2) the port used on the PC to connect to the POD is not suitable such as a USB 3.0 or it is a USB HUB. 3) the USB port of the POD and perhaps also its USB Controller chip are damaged not allowing any connection. I recommend trying to connect the POD to another computer even without installing anything on it. If at the time of connection there is no reaction at all from the computer (which normally should at least detect the presence of unknown hardware connected) it means that the USB port of the POD is dead, and the only solution would be to replace it. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

My Standard's acoustic sound is worse than Variax 600/300
hurghanico replied to TheBeatnics's topic in Variax Standard
Yes, but have you tried rolling back to 1.9 using Line6 Central (instead of Monkey)? The guy in the video posted above wrote that it is possible that way. I'm just curious if it's true. As for me, the Variax I'm still using is a 700 that I'm happy with as is, no need for different firmware. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips- 8 replies

Based on what was officially said it is not possible to downgrade a Variax Standard to firmware 1.9. read here: Variax Standard with 1.9 ? But wait!!! According to the description on YouTube of the following video, it is possible to downgrade the Standard using the Line6 Central app. Is this true? _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips- 8 replies

Do an inspection and make sure that both the USB port of the POD and the USB cable you are using are working well and are not broken. Make sure you do not connect the POD to a USB HUB, usually the best USB ports to use are those closest to the power cable socket. I also suggest completely uninstalling the current Line6 driver and installing the latest version available (downloadable manually from the DOWNLOADS section of this site) for your OS, in order to make sure that the communication between hardware and OS is up to date and the best currently possible (assuming that your OS is already updated). Consider that each firmware version corresponds to a certain version of the editor, if the correspondence is missing the correct synchronization between device and software may not occur, so for example the latest version of the editor will hardly work correctly with the first version of the firmware. If you are sure that the USB port and the cable are good, you can try to update the firmware in offline mode (which is the safest method). Below is a link to a post that explains the workaround to be able to still use the Monkey app (currently discontinued) to do an offline firmware update: Line 6 Monkey Pending Retirement copied and pasted here: Line6ers, We've come to the point where Line 6 Monkey will no longer be available. There's a server issue that has rendered it unusable. Additionally, making it work for products that we no longer make or support is no longer feasible. Until we completely remove Monkey from our Downloads page in January 2025, we have a workaround that will allow you to use Monkey: Download and install Line 6 Monkey (Windows) from line6.com/software. Download the firmware you want to install from line6.com/software. Download your device's drivers from line6.com/software and install them. Launch Monkey. Click on the Monkey icon in the upper left and select "Diagnostics…". Click OK to the window that opens. In the Explorer window that appears (C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Line 6\Line 6 Monkey), remove any .cfg file that may be present. Copy the attached "default.cfg" file into the above location. Quit Monkey then relaunch Monkey. You'll know this change worked if you can see a full list of devices to update. You should now be able to connect your device to Monkey and perform an “offline” firmware installation. When you click on "Firmware", then the "Update Selection" button, point Monkey to the location on your computer where you downloaded your device's firmware, such as your Downloads folder or your Desktop. If you run into trouble, you can always reach our support team at www.Line6.com/company/contact. We expect the workaround to work on macOS 10.14 and earlier, since that was the last one to support 32-bit apps such as Monkey. "Diagnostics" is in the Line 6 Monkey menu. default.cfg _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Previously you asked which pedals can connect to Monkey and Workbench HD other than the POD HD500X and I gave you an answer with the list of those that only connect to the Workbench HD (but not to the Monkey), the POD HD500X connects to both the Monkey (via the workaround described above) and the Workbench HD. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

I don't even know how to explain my issue in the title HD500X w/ Variax
hurghanico replied to djspleen's topic in POD HD
Rather than checking for differences between just the editor pages when you change the way you select presets, you should check for differences between what you see in the editor and in the POD display. My suspicion is that the preset was not sent correctly to the device before trying the two different selection methods. (Are you sure you are using the right procedure to send the preset to the POD?). When you select via the footswitches the POD reads the preset saved in its memory and not the one you are still seeing in the editor, so if there are any differences between the two you will be hear them (differences which as I already said should be visible anyway between what you see in the editor and in the POD display). _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips -
HD500X tuner with Variax input
hurghanico replied to djspleen's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
The tuner included in the POD only recognizes the signal passing through input1 (so it never recognizes the signal passing through input2). So, for the tuner to actually work, in the preset input settings you need to make sure that input1 is set to (or includes in the case of multiple source selection) the source currently used (in this case "Variax"). My hypothesis therefore is that when you tried to use the POD tuner you were using a preset with the inputs set as input1=guitar/input2=variax, that's why the tuner didn't work (with the Variax), mystery solved if I guessed right. Whoever created/edited that preset wasn't using a Variax and set input2 to Variax (by default input2 would be set to Same) as Null source just to halve the input signal level in the chain. If you like that preset I recommend you reverse its inputs selection to keep the same gain level and have effective use of the tuner. Doing so, your effective source for input1 would be Variax and your Null source for input2 would be Guitar. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips -

Is it possible to run a Line 6 Pod hd500x this way?
hurghanico replied to danfzx14's topic in POD HD
As already stated above by "pianoguyy", by taking advantage of the stereo separation you can pan the output of the patches to the right or left depending on where you want the signal to go (to do this in most cases the MIXER block must be the last one in the chain of your patches to prevent the audio from one channel from also going to the other). But there is also a different solution which does not imply changing the panning in the patches, and that is to put an FX LOOP block at the end of the chain for example in the patches that contain only effects, thus doing the POD output in those patches no longer comes out of the standard outputs but instead comes out of the SEND output (which can be in stereo if desired if a TRS cable is used) on the rear panel of the POD. (The SEND output is provided with a physical switch to change its output level to STOMP or the hotter LINE mode). _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips -

I don't even know how to explain my issue in the title HD500X w/ Variax
hurghanico replied to djspleen's topic in POD HD
When I use the hd editor I consider and use it as the main control center of the device and eventually I use the physical footswitches only to turn the effects on and off, never to select a patch. (Maybe this is why I have never had the problem you described). I use the footswitches to select patches only when the editor is off and in any case after the edited patches have been synced correctly. Another thing to consider is that as long as the POD is connected to a computer (with the editor active or not, doesn't matter) its global output volume is always dependent on the setting of the "hardware monitoring level" parameter (normally it should be set to maximum) in the Line6 audio driver control panel. Which thing obviously does not happen when the device is disconnected from the computer and independent. Another thing to check: is the installed editor version the right one? Each new firmware that has been released has always corresponded to a specific new editor version. If the correspondence is missing, anomalous behaviors can occur. Also be careful with patches maybe created with a different firmware and then imported into the editor and device. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips -

The Pitch Glide effect has a "mix" parameter that allows you to mix the unaffected sound with the transposed one as you like, and this would be the simplest solution. But if you need 2 separate outputs, one of which is transposed, then the only solution (DSP resources available allowing) is to create 2 same parallel chains, one in Path A and the other in Path B and put the pitch glide only in one of these, and in the mixer block make sure that one Path goes all the way to the left output and the other to the right one. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
