  1. I could be totally off-base here, but I think I remember something like this mentioned in the past and the suggestion was the use of a power conditioner.
  2. Meambobbo has a few decent EVH tones in customtone as well. I was just foolin' around with them today.
  3. Netfly - Did you upload your tones to customtone?????
  4. So, any future firmware updates (i.e. new amp models) for the 500X will also include the 500? This is my biggest concern. I just got my 500 a little under 2 months ago after waiting and dreaming of one for a long time (couldn't afford it) and then a new and improved model comes out! Just a bit disheartening. Don't get me wrong - I absolutely love my 500 and just hope there will be continued support. I would imagine that customtone will be somewhat affected, tho.
  5. Thank you! This is what I'm looking for. I'd like to put this information together in the form of a check sheet that I can print out and keep in my own created HD500 manual - as well as on my pc desktop. This is turning into a hobby all unto itself and, I must say, a very enjoyable one. It also helps that I really believe that I'm in early stages of Alzheimer's!! LOL!!
  6. Okay - I'll do my best to ask this question as understandably as I can. First, a bit of preliminary info. I have the HD500 and the DT50 212, using the L6 link - but 99.9% of my usage is in studio/direct mode using headphones so my family doesn't kill me in my sleep! (I'm assuming I should be using studio/direct). I've been setting up my patches so that they sound good with this setup. I'm planning on copying my patches to another setlist or bundle to be used with the DT50. I realize that they will sound totally different and must be tweaked for this setup. Soooooo..... my question/request is........is there, or can anybody put together, a standard, basic "checklist" sorta thing - maybe by the numbers, on where to start, how much to adjust, etc., from what I have already tweaked for studio. I realize there are a ton of factors that may be involved and there is no really simple solution. But a list with maybe a "start with" and "finish with" kind of idea would be great! I would be able to run down such a list with each patch as I create the second (amp) setlist/bundle. And if anybody out there is really feeling ambitious (or would like to be a true hero to many, many HD500 users!), maybe a separate checklist for the other modes as well. Again, a general kinda thing. It's better than guessing and would save hours of frustration for many! Hope this all made sense! By the way - I love you guys!!!! LOL!!!!!
  7. That's pretty much what I've been doing.
  8. I think it would be just great! There are a LOT of tones I'd like to have for the HD500. I've never owned the XT, but I downloaded Line 6 Edit and I'm trying to reproduce some of the tones manually from the XT (Line 6 Edit) on the HD500 Edit - but they ain't soundin' too good!.....yet!!! lol!!!!!
  9. Sure!!! I just got mine a month ago and paid full price, but that's ALWAYS my luck!!! lol!! All joking aside, over the past year I've seen them on sale at several different locations - but always when I was broke. Rumors are rampant, tho, of an HD500X. This new idea page has me wondering as well.
  10. Yeah, I googled it before I ever submitted the question, but I was curious on what the actual rms number is. I don't understand the formula to figure it out for myself. Not important. I'll just say it's like 500 watts rms or something. LOL!!!
  11. LOL!!!! Thanks, Buddy!!!!

    Rms?

Can anybody tell me what the RMS is for the SV 212 mk I is? A friend asked and I haven't a clue!!!

    Rms?

Can anybody tell me what the RMS for the DT50 212 is? I was asked and didn't have a clue!
  14. Well, that's absolutely remarkable, given that SV's are known for meltdowns in the best of conditions. Great news and good for you!!!
  15. Maybe he meant something totally different when he told ya to "wiggle yer wire"!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Hmmmmm!!! That sounds very interesting! And could save a ton of work! That's an expensive program, tho. I wonder if I can figure a way to do this with Audacity?
  17. IMHO, i think your "ear" is the best tool for the job. The second best tool would be a "friend's (friendly) ear"! lol!!
  18. Your best bet is to at least start with the guitarist's rig. The above-mentioned websites are a great help. Google and forums can also be a great help. A guitarist's sound may differ from song to song, but at least you'll have a starting point - type of guitar, amp(s), effects used, etc. Then it's just a matter of playing around and experimenting. This can take some time, but it's kinda like a puzzle game - for me, anyway. I like the challenge, so it becomes fun - like solving a mystery. Try to get as close as you can and then save. Go back to it from time to time when you gather more info and play around some more. Experiment. Make multiple saves. Try dual amp setups. Mess around with the signal chain (this has been a GREAT problem solver for me!). This is also a great way to learn more about your own equipment and it's capabilities. You may get close, but you'll never be exact. Too many factors, some of which may be beyond your control, contribute to an artist's sound and/or tone.
  19. You don't need the PC at all, although I find it a bit easier to sit at the computer with my guitar and do the editing that way than constantly bending over with a guitar strapped on! Do you have a laptop by any chance? I don't have the Variax.........yet! lol!!! But yes, the VDI gives you much, much more!! I recommend reading the instruction manuals that are available here on the Line 6 site to find the answers since there is oh-so-much to explain and discuss.
  20. Oooops! Sorry! I missed that. Said I was gettin' old!!!!
  21. I have a program called the "POD HD Converter" on my desktop that supposedly converts POD HD files from one to the other. I haven't tried it yet and I can't remember where I got it (getting old!! lol!!!). I downloaded it in case I found a tone I might like that I couldn't find for the HD500 in a different HD format. Try this link www.jzab.de . I found it in the "about" section - or google it. Let me know how it works if ya try it!!
  22. That's what I use with my DT50 and it works like a champ! Just make sure you select the M-Audio drivers when prompted.
  23. That's pretty much what I am doing now, but was looking to simplify for just quick noodling! lol!!! Thank you!!!
  24. Interesting! So, how would you recommend the best way to hook up a DT50 and POD HD500 when I choose to play backing tracks thru the amp? 4CM maybe?
