  1. Got a good question for y'all! What are the general guidelines for setting up a basic dual amp tone in regards to individual amp tone settings, mixing, etc.. Just really looking for the "fullness" and slight separation of tone. Something that could be applied to just about any single amp tone setup. First, using a dual same amp and then, maybe suggested mixing and matching for a different, unique sound. Just something to ponder here and get a good discussion going! ;)
  2. Are you uploading any of these to customtone? I'd really like to have the "Rust Never Sleeps" tone as well!
  3. I think your best bet would be to do a search of customtone. Yeah, there are over 4,000 tones, but just type in a song, band, or something close to what you're looking for. You may have to tweak 'em a bit and some might need nothing at all - depends on how different your guitar and live setup is. Check them thru HD500 Edit for pre or full amps and mixer settings - again, depending on your personal setup. I found a lot of great tones - some of which needed only minimal tweaking.
  4. Well, for me, I have plenty of time on my hands. I found and tweaked a few tones that I really like just for my particular styles of guitar playing and practice (thru headphones). I spend most of my time playing, but I do set aside some time to just play with and experiment with the 500. I set up several setlists for this. By the way, I have the DT50 212. During my "experimental" time, if a find and/or develope a tone that I'm at least beginning to like, I'll save it to whatever particular setlist I'm working with (L6 link w/ DT50, 4CM, Studio, etc.). Whatever mood strikes me, I'll go back to that tone and work with it a bit more (or if I learn something new - especially from this forum!). This way, I don't have the pressure of developing a tone and can take the time to do it right while not taking time from my actual playing. The rewards are extremely satisfying. Again, I take it more from a hobbyist standpoint. I accept the fact that it is quite a learning process and by taking this attitude, it seems to be coming to me much more quickly
  5. I'd keep the DT25. You may feel like fiddling around with a few patches for it in the future just for something to do, curiosity or just for a hobby. I believe, at that time, you'll be very happy you kept. it!! ;) P.S. Somewhere here in the forums, somebody put together a setlist of basic tones and setups just for the DT25. It just might be a good starting point for ideas - or just may need a few additions and tweaks to get you closer to what you may be lookng for!
  6. Just a thought. Does your guitar have active pickups? If so, the battery may be going dead. Happened to me with same results.
  7. I may be mistaken, but I think He's talking about using one patch for two actual, physical amps. Am I wrong here? I initially believed it to be a dual amp patch, but after rereading the post, I'm not sure.
  8. Did you check out this post? It might be helpful. http://line6.com/support/topic/3067-xxl-4x12-121-ribbon-uber-4x12-57-on-axis-gold/?do=findComment&comment=20263
  9. Yes, please! I'd like it as well for the HD500. I've tried myself, but not successfully!
  10. Sorry! I meant right-click!!! And I also meant "extension" but the word just wouldn't come to my feeble mind at the time!
  11. Figured it out! I left-clicked, hit "save as" and then manually added the .h5e suffix. Works like a champ!!
  12. If I left-click, I get a bunch of jibberish text
  13. How do I download these patches? If I right click and hit "save as" I just get an HTML document.
  14. I don't know if this will help, but I get this all the time. I just reboot my laptop and then everything works - and I hafta do this almost everytime I use the 500 and 500 edit or monkey.
  15. Huh! I didn't know that either! I always ended up just changing it on the HD and saving it!!
  16. Still waiting for it to rub off on me, though!!
  17. I was wondering that myself. Haven't seen any new uploads lately.
  18. I use it for "Killing In The Name Of" and I personally think it's awesome!!
  19. I get it quite a lot as well. I'm using EMG active pickups and assumed that this is the cause - even with the "Guitar In" switch in the "PAD" position. I generally turn down the guitar volume until most of it disappears. If I play thru a mixing board, I can get rid of most of it by turning down the board's gain control.
  20. You can also just right click on the file and the open "properties". It'll give ya the full file name there.
  21. Yes, there may be only a few, but a couple are very good. Just type bass in the search and they'll come up. My personal favorite is metal bass from, I believe, unclejason.
  22. The effects are awesome AND they're tweakable!
  23. If you're just looking to play with headphones, the HD500 is enough by itself. It has both the headphone and mp3 jacks. That's what I use almost all the time. You CAN use the POD this way thru an amp (except with the Line 6 DT series when using the L6 link), but it doesn't sound too good. I also sometimes use a small inexpensive Behringer 802 mixing board. I'd like to eventually some day get a decent pair of studio monitors (FRFR) to go with the board, so I can ditch the headphones once in a while and have a decent sound when playing with backing tracks and other music.
