Sorry about that... you are correct. I'm not sure how that happened, but I have removed it to avoid any confusion for future readers. I knew that was Randino... I just never noticed the wrong user tagged to the quote.

Turn off dim LED for inactive snapshots - Lo/Brt to off doesn't do it
codamedia replied to revolver1010's topic in Helix
I am sure this would be unintentional... aka, a bug. The vast majority of users likely leave the colors (for snapshots) in their default setting and would never notice this. I'd suggest you open a ticket with Line 6 and outline the problem as you did here. If they can confirm the problem they will likely slip the fix into a future update. -
At home I run my Helix through studio monitors. On stage I run direct to FOH and monitor myself though the provided monitor system, always with my own separate mix. If I don't trust (or don't like) the monitors I carry my own FRFR and run that on stage. In all cases I use it through full range boxes, not through a standard guitar amp.

Just assuming it will work with your amp does not make it the fault of Line 6 that it doesn't. The manual clearly states 2 warnings with the EXT amp control. ---------------------------------------- IMPORTANT! The Helix device's ability to control external amp channel and/or reverb switching has been tested with many popular amps and heads. Unfortunately this does not guarantee compatibility with all products. Note that, depending on the circuitry of the channel switching jack in the guitar amp used, the EXT Amp function may not operate as expected. IMPORTANT! Connect EXT AMP 1/2 only to amplifiers that utilize "shortto-sleeve" footswitch inputs. Connecting to any other sort of input could cause permanent damage to both your amp and Helix! If you're not sure if your amp has short-to-sleeve inputs, contact the manufacturer ----------------------------------------

Marketplace is a proprietary format... and if L6 doesn't list the Power Cab as compatible, that pretty much says it all! When you buy IR's through the company that makes them, they come in a variety of formats, sample rates, etc, etc... When you buy IR's through Marketplace they will only work on the device they were intended!

With your Helix connected to a computer, you need to import it through HX Edit. If that sounds foreign to you... then your Helix is likely due for an update as well... and my preset won't load unless you are on 2.82. You may have to enter in the values manually... they are pretty much as I laid them out.

That is certainly an option for some people, as long as you don't require any of the features the POD Go is missing. EG: Variax support, midi support, mic input, etc...
-
Earlier you mention having a Variax, but didn't say which generation. If it's an older Generation (500, 300, 600, 700) you need to know that the LT will not act as an interface for Workbench with those models. Also - although it generally will work fine, there are some "quirks" between the older generation and the Helix you need to be aware of. BUT - that's a different topic altogether :)

Hmmmm... same request, two usernames? I'm getting confused :) IMO... that's a beautiful tone. This is what I would do.... Strat Bridge Pickup (w/fresh strings.... you can hear that clearly at the end of the clip) Fender Twin Model (double normal) Bring the drive back to about 3 Highs around 3 Lows around 5 or 6 set the mids around 6 or 7 Insert the TILT EQ and set the TILT to DARK 60 (this simulates moving the mic closer to the edge of the speaker) (Optional)... Simple delay with a 400ms delay time, 2-3 repeats, keep the mix low, around 15%. For Reverb, just insert the '63 Spring and leave it as is. LA Studio Comp at the end of the chain... just inserting it will bring out the desired flavor, but I would also roll the gain back to about 5. The majority of the tone is how he picks, and his subtle use of the tremolo bar on the guitar! He's a master! Attached is a quick preset based on the settings I mention above. Keep in mind this was made in Native, with MY STRAT which is a '62 re-issue. You may have to adjust for your gear a little! EDIT TO ADD: Although I used a Fender Twin model for the amp, I am pretty sure Hank plays VOX amps... I'm just more comfortable dialing in the Fenders. Hank Marvin.hlx

Keep in mind, I'm in Canada... and therefore CAD currency. I listed it for $120 firm (1/2 price in Canada) and got that. It was a year old, used on over 100 shows, but still in good condition. It was included with my purchase of an LT so I didn't lose any money. Congrats on your new purchases... hope it all works out for you!

I believe the self calibration is on the first use of the pedal after it is started.... so I make sure that is always a full 100% sweep! I have no idea if this will help or not... but I always perform this ritual when I start my Helix. Set the pedal in the full "heel down" position on start up. (heel down without any pressure... just it's natural resting spot) Once the Helix starts, rock it all the forward (toe down), then all the way back (heel down)... one time Now load your desired preset and see how it responds.

IMO.... Rule #1 with MIDI is to turn off OMNI and set each device to a discrete midi channel. That gives you control of what you want, when you want, without any surprises.
-
I love Hank Marvin's tones.... Can you link to a clip of the tone you are searching for? It will make it easier for others (including myself) to steer you in a particular direction.

I did the same thing when I moved to a pedal board.... it was a tough decision, as that back pack is so useful. In the end, it sold in about 15 minutes on my local classifieds... without price negotiation. The tell tale sign I could have charged more :) Out of curiosity, what did you end up ordering for a board and power supply?

Sort of... not quite. When I first dove into the Helix world I ran an HX Effects with my HD500. My reason was similar to yours.... I still needed Variax support, and didn't want to give up the expression pedal. It worked without any problems. There are many ways to set it up... In a serial line. Either HD500 > Stomp, or Stomp > HD 500 Or you can run the Stomp in the HD500 loop (that's where I would put it) Or you can run the HD500 in the Stomp loop One midi cable from the HD500 (midi out) to the Stomp (midi in) and the HD500 can still carry the majority of the footswitching for both units. The HD is a very flexible midi controller... it would pair well with the Stomp. Of course, this is all assuming you understand a little about midi, and don't confuse easily with signal routing :) If you want to keep it simple, find a way to spend a little extra for the HELIX LT or FLOOR model, then you get to keep it all on one unit. FWIW, I eventually upgraded my HX Effects to the LT and never regretted it one bit. @foxmeister makes a great point above. You can always add mic support to an LT with a simple MIC pre (ART Tube Pre or Similar) into one of the returns on the LT.

LT vs Floor: are buttons closer together on the Floor?
codamedia replied to theElevators's topic in Helix
I do not know the answer for certain, but how do you know these images are scaled properly? -
I thought the "2C" in the name was referencing the Mark IIC+.... I didn't know for sure so I didn't want to bring it up :) Thanks for posting that! @leborgne23... I think it is still important to recognize that there is more to a RAW AMP TONE on any recording or video than the amp itself.... there are still mics, mic placement, pre-amps and compression that need to be factored in.

Let's count the different components John is using... Amp / Cali EQ within the AMP Cabinet 2 different microphones A mic pre-amp (not visible) Post production EQ/Comp (also not visible) That's at least 5 components, maybe even 6 or 7 components.... IMO, if you can do it in 3 or 4 blocks you are doing good! No he is not plugged into a Mark IV... he is plugged into his signature series JP-2C which is a spin off from the Mark V. I have not researched to see how it is voiced... but there will be differences or that amp wouldn't exist. To match the chain I see in the video.... IMO, this is what you need.... Mark IV Channel 2 Amp (if the Cali EQ is not included in the amp, then you need to add it as well) Dual Cab (mic choice I'd have to research...). Keep the mics at 1" - 2" Apply the title EQ after the cabinet then set it to DARK 20 or DARK 30 (this simulates the mic positions on his cabinet NOTE: You could use a custom IR for #2 and #3, but you really need to make sure it matches his setup since you have no adjustments with an IR Add the Studio PRE (that will simulate a pre-amp for the mics) Add the LA Studio Comp (that will simulate any compression that is occurring in the video. Voila - 5 blocks.... pretty much what John required in the number of components.

The door on those transmitters is pretty rugged compared to most... especially compared to the G30 transmitters. FWIW... I used rechargeable AA batteries and after my 3 x 50 minute sets the transmitter still indicated I had over 4 hours of life left. My point is... if you had to go the elastic route (I'd use a strong elastic rather than tape), it would just be a "start of night" thing, not something to worry about mid show. If my door ever dies, I'd have no worries about using an elastic.

Many wireless units with TRS jacks will cause problems, but not all. It is a confusing gray area, thankfully most company's do list limitations like this. FWIW... I need to change my answer from earlier. I had bought the BOSS WL-60 but while under the return period the store I bought it from had a used Line 6 G50 with 1 year warranty for $125 (CAD). That was a deal I couldn't turn up so I returned the boss. They are comparable units for features and durability, no real change there. Range is suppose to be greater on the G50 (200' vs 65') but this was strictly a cost thing for me (I'm cheap - LOL) I did a gig with the G50 over the weekend and it worked great.

I can't imagine there will be any difference in sound quality... I believe both the Stomp and Pod Go have the capability of "up to" 24bit/96k which is more than usable. Most people are happy with CD or DVD quality, and both can easily do that. The I/O quantity and how they operate MAY be different between units. Determine your input/output needs, and make sure you buy something that can accommodate.
-
No.... all you are controlling is the amount of resistance between the tip and the sleeve. If it's wired wrong it may behave erratically or won't work at all.... that's it! There is no power (eg: no electricity) in an expression pedal. If you have a pedal that requires power or batteries.... my answer does not apply :) A pedal like that would require more thought!
-
Some expression/volume pedals work with Line 6 out of the box, others don't. There are many ways an expression can be wired... saying Line 6 does it differently is unfair, it's just one method of many. Any expression pedal can easily be modded/rewired to work with Line 6 products. I don't think the Helix is as critical about the 10K pot value as older units were, but it's still the standard that works best with Line 6 products.

Or you could download "Voxengo Deconvolver", run it in trial mode (which never dies) and get the same results :)

Don't over think it... When set to Instrument Level they work fine as additional inputs, I use them all the time! You also have the convenience of a level control in the return block if you want to fine tune the level of the incoming instrument.
