  1. I want to run 7cm too and I'm struggling. I want to run two amps together, Tube Screamer etc in front of both amps, then delays and reverbs in the amp loops. But I'm having big issues. - I don't know how the signal chain should be configured to set up 7 cable method into the fx loops of two amps. - Because the setup isn't correct, I currently I get a lot of noise as both amps are sending the preamp to the other amp! Basically both preamps are blended on each amp. - How do I ensure delays and other effects are stereo - as in ping-pong delay etc.
  2. How do you do this in your Helix? The routing options in HX are different. I want to run two amps together, Tube Screamer etc in front of both amps, then delays and reverbs in the amp loops. 3. How do I set up the HX effects signal chain/fx block/mixer for 7cm? I'm struggling! What are the mixer and effects loops settings in the HX effects? Stereo? Dual mono? I'm using two amps, and want to set up so drives go into the front of the amp, and delays/reverbs in the fx loops. Main problems: - I don't know how the signal chain should be configured to set up 7 cable method into the fx loops of two amps. - Because the setup isn't correct, I currently get a lot of noise as both amps are sending the preamp to the other amp! 4. I can get a loud clean tone fine. I was merely pointing out that getting a quiet dirty sound, using just the preamps in the HD500 and the DT25 is, inevitably not so easy, as they power amp section of the DT25 needs to be driven to break up. It's not impossible though and I just wanted to see what people prefer in terms of tone.
  5. My pickups are pretty average output actually. PAFs, tele and start single coils and some traditional P90s. When using the Pod preamp models with the DT25, the amp breaks up at a louder volume as it is using it's own power section (i.e. real tubes), rather than the simulated power section in the POD HD 500. Thus it requires more real world volume, to break up the power section. This can be mitigated by reducing the master volume on the amp, and increasing the channel volume, but it is still reducing the output of the power section - and therefore the breakup in the power section. I prefer the sound of the preamps, but overall the sound is cleaner at low volume - which is to be expected.
  6. Great thanks for your advice guys. I will give the preamps a go, although they break up at louder volume. What do you hink of the low volume mode?
  7. Which are you supposed to use when connecting the POD HD and a DT25 or DT50 amp? The full amp setting on the POD has more gain, but I don't know if the sound is better when set up as preamp and you start to crank the amp. Do the valves in the power amp section take over?
  8. I don't understand the reason why they have this option. Surely you just run it like a normal legs nd right. Having the Amp A/Amp B option seems odd to me. Anybody care to elaborate. The mixer isn't intuitive either. In fact, it's a pain.
  9. Thanks, can you explain, or do yiu have any idea, why they did this?! The other problem I have is using reverb after the mixer. Any reason there is bleed when they are mixed hard left and right? Is it a mono effect? It doesn't behave the same as e.g. Stereo delay. When panned to the centre in the mxrr, the signal sounds dreadful. The manual seems to tun out when digging into things!
  10. If both amps are active, and the reverb is after the mixer it also reduces the reverb in the mix. If switch one amp out with my ABY switcher - the reverb is bigger in the mix. Very odd. Perhaps it's because I run a dual signal into the HD500? One to the Guitar input, the other to the aux? This enables me to put pedals in front of the guitar input.
  11. Ok, so I have worked out that if I put a reverb in front of the amp it distorts (or can do with overdrive) so this works much like a real amp. However, if I then set up the DT25's as left and right and put a reverb after the mixer, it sounds really tinny and fizzy. Am I doing something wrong on the settings in the mixer?
  12. Hi, I am using two DT25 amps in L6 link with my HD 500. It sounds very good. One thing puzzles me, I cannot use the effects loop or insert HD500 effects AFTER the amp in L6 when set up as Amp A and Amp B in the setup menu - I can only use them BEFORE the amp. I have to set them up as left and right amps. Does this make a difference to the tone? Allocated as Amp A and Amp B is it simply allocating the path and the amp icon is just an indicator of the amp chain - where is the effects loop in the chain when set up as Amp A and Amp B? The amp seems to be the end of the chain. Which seems odd. I can't understand why it is necessary to have this setting. Any thoughts are helpful! BB
  13. Hi, this works well. ABY Radial bones switcher into the guitar and aux inputs. One thing puzzles me, I cannot use the effects loop AFTER the amp in L6 when set up as Amp A and Amp B in the setup menu - I can only use them BEFORE the amp - the same with reverb and in fact any effect external or in the HD500. I have to set them up as left and right amps. Does this make a difference to the tone? Allocated as Amp A and Amp B is it simply allocating the path and the amp icon is just an indicator of the amp chain? Any thoughts are helpful! BB
  14. Sadly, it's dead. Stuck on Channel B. Time for a call to Line 6.
  15. Hi, I've done this 5 times and it doesn't work. Do you switch the whole amp on, or just power? Also, unfortunately this still doesn't solve the other problem of no sound with L6 link. I've had problems before but always been able to sove them.
  16. Hi, I hope you can help. I recently bought a second hand DT25 112 combo, I tested the amp thoroughly with a guitar before buying and it works great. I then decided to link tip with my other DT25 head, via L6 link from my HD500. There is no sound from the DT25 combo, however when changing patches the topology, pentode and class A A/B was switching. I have double checked my L6 settings in the HD500 and all seems to be fine. Amp A and Amp B are designated as are midi channels. Firstly, is thee a reason why I am no getting any sound? I can get a sound from the amp in isolation using L6 link, but when daisy chaining two amps the combo goes silent. However, to try to solve the problem I though I would reset the firmware. I connected the DT25 via my Alesis USB-midi and the Line 6 Monkey recognised the amp. I registered it (as the new owner), then reflashed the latest 2.0 DT25 upgrade. During the relfash the Line 6 Monkey reported a proper, and cancelled the update. Nowi have here major problems. 1. The DT25 doesn't want to work in stereo with the other amp as part of L6 link. 2. Now, when I boot up L6 Monkey, it just doesn't see the Alesis USB/midi connector. I have to go through a difficult process of telling Line Monkey what look for manually, bit doesn't find any device on the end. It was seeing it earlier , 3. Worst of all, the amp is stuck on channel B. I have tried to reset, including the topology and pentode switch squeeze trick. No topology light is on, nor pentode/triode Nor Class A Class 3. I am getting o response whatsoever. Can you advise as to a way forward? The amp is dead, and when it was working, it couldn't be linked to another L6 link amp.
  17. This was my thinking too. I hope the POD HD500 takes distortion ok in the loop! Any experience of this?
  18. Hi, I'm very much enjoying my DT25 head and POD HD500. I also use it in conjunction with a couple of pedals in front of the HD500 and couple in the FX loop (e.g Strymon delay post preamp) I am considering buying a second DT25 head - so I can really get presence on stage, either with two amps running the same tone, or two totally different amps models (e.g. Twin and Divided by 13). However, if I connect the 2nd DT25 via L6 link from the first DT25, and if I use a foot pedal (e.g. Fulltone OCD) in front of POD HD500, then will both amps take on the sound of e.g. the Fulltone OCD (because it is at the front of the signal chain)? Or, is there a way to route connections within the POD HD 500 that means that I am able to run the amps clean/dirty, completely independently of each other, and crucially, that the second DT25 won't be affected by the pedals in front of the first DT25? How would I do this? I'm assuming I have to set up two FX loops, one in the HD500 pre amp models, the second fx loop using the loop on the back of the amps? Or can I have more than one loop in the HD500 pre/post amp model? (Although I don't have enough loop connections in the HD500 do I?) Thanks, Ben see attached diagram
