Attach the preset and I'll look at/test it.

Do the usual for misbehaving digital stuff - factory reset (backup your presets!) and if that doesn't work, call support.

Stereo effects before split into dual amps, Is it still stereo?
rd2rk replied to Barbarisch's topic in Helix
Amps are mono blocks. Put an amp in a stereo path you get a mono path. Stereo block before dual mono paths = stereo at the merge/mix block. BUT... to keep the stereo effect the panning has to be consistent. SplitStPost.hlx SplitStPre.hlx -

Every path is stereo. When you split a stereo path you get two parallel stereo paths. If you put an amp in each path you get two parallel mono paths. -
The only way to do that is to use the "PC SEND" Global Setting, which sends the automatically assigned PC# when the preset loads. Obviously, this is very limiting. If you're not using all of your snapshots, create a duplicate of SS1 with the preferred (or no) PC# and use that instead of returning to SS1.

@datacommando- very interesting. I know I saw that post long ago, but I guess I just deal with the tone of my presets as I go, without worrying those sorts of details. If it sounds good, it is good, if it doesn't sound good, I tweak it till it does! Works for me, but I can see how it might not work for others.

I do this all the time and haven't noticed that. A screenshot is not nearly as helpful as a copy of the actual preset. Attach a copy of the preset.

If I understand you, you're taking your MIDI keyboard's MIDI OUT to the Helix MIDI IN, then using the Helix as the ASIO and MIDI Devices in your DAW where you have a Synth VST? How does a "main mixer" figure in - If Helix is the ASIO Device then the DAW's audio goes to Helix before any other mixer, so...? Helix effects are audio, not MIDI, which means that the VST needs to convert the MIDI to audio before Helix can use it. If you have Helix Native you can use the Helix FX in Native post vst. Without Native you would need to route the VST's audio output signal back to the Helix via USB, apply FX, then back to your DAW via USB to record, then back to Helix (it's the ASIO Device) to monitor the mix.

No way to make Snapshots the default. This is actually a good feature, since you always know which parameters snapshots are controlling in a specific block, and you can easily see which parameters in ALL blocks are being controlled by looking at the BYPASS/CONTROLLER ASSIGN screen (sort with the column headers).

Translation by Google. Update to the latest firmware v3.71. If you're already updated then perform a factory reset - don't forget to backup your presets first!- 1 reply

HX Effects + Bluguitar Amp1 + Victory V4 preamp issues
rd2rk replied to Tomschelfaut's topic in Helix
So, the HXFX Output should be set to INST and the switch should be -10db? -
HX Effects + Bluguitar Amp1 + Victory V4 preamp issues
rd2rk replied to Tomschelfaut's topic in Helix
A "pre-amp" usually expects an instrument to be connected to its input. Set both FX Loops to INST. Unless you want the amps in series (using both at once?), use separate FX Loops for each, then set a FS (or Snapshot) to toggle the Loops. Use the switch on the BG to get as close to the Victory as possible. +4 (IIRC) is what you'd use for Stompbox (INST) level signals, -10 for LINE. The AMP1 RETURN is LINE LEVEL (per the manual), so set the HXFX OUTPUT to LINE. -
No need to use an aggregate device. Continue to use your UA rig as AI. Set up your Helix Presets with a SEND first in the chain. Take that SEND to an input on your X8 for a DI Track. The X8 and Helix both have SPDIF, so no latency there. Latency only matters if you're playing AND monitoring your playing thru the computer. Direct Monitor thru Helix, no latency. Your problem relates to loading the pickups. As long as you're connecting via the Helix guitar input you can work around your issue. The next problem you'll probably mention is, since you're "recording a band", you may have a shortage of inputs on your UA gear. Sorry, time to upgrade!
-
Input Impedance and pickup loading. The three inputs all load the pickups differently. It's a complicated subject, Google it. Simplest solution: Instead of using the Apollo, use the Helix as AI and plug into the Helix guitar input like you would in a real-world performance. Create presets on Helix. With impedance set to AUTO your pickups will be properly loaded for the effects in the chain. When recording use Helix, record an effected performance track and record a DI track with USB 7/8. Use Native for re-amping. Helix/Native is a SYSTEM and works best when treated accordingly.

Radial is pro quality. I'd guess that the JDI uses the same transformer as the ProDI, just has more features. Read the descriptions on the Radial site and if you don't need the added features, get the ProDI. As for the "Sound Engineer", he was probably the waitress's boyfriend moonlighting from his day job at Guitar Center...
-
The Radial's transformer is heavy-duty, designed with the saturation problem in mind.
-
Instrument Level: ProDI Features - Radial Engineering It'll also take a LINE level, has a PAD switch and a Ground Lift.

Is there a way to combine an amp, and a 3rd party IR into one block?
rd2rk replied to thecalifornians's topic in Helix
No. -
Please add the room mics and Focus Filter from Mettalurgy to Helix Native

Now that you've clarified your actual needs/situation, I can report that I use my ToneX Pedal in the FX Loop of my Helix and send that on to either my Catalyst100 or FRFR112. Latency is negligible, and it sounds great. I'm not a P&W kind of guy (hard rock/blues), but when I feel like getting "ambient" the Helix has more than enough mods/delays/reverbs to get me there and back!
-
ON or OFF, the DSP has been allocated.
-
Don't forget the Strymons, though being reverb/delay it likely won't be noticeable, and IIRC they're True Bypass. FOH will be analog, so no latency there. Latency doesn't really bother me until >15ms, but some folks are hypersensitive to it, especially "shredder" types. I've also read (on TGP, so consider the source) that using dual ToneX pedals can introduce Phase issues?
-
Your diagram will work but has potential for LOTS of latency!
-
That is NOT normal. You've tried the usual remedies. Contact support.
