Lower the Channel Volume in the Amp Block?
-
To change a Snapshot on the HXFX requires two messages - Preset# (message 1) and CC#69 + VALUE = 0-3 (Snapshots 1-4). Since a single FS in Stomp Mode can only send one message at a time you would need to trigger a Snapshot on the LT whose Instant Commands are set to send both messages: IC#1 = HXFX Preset# IC#2 = CC#69 + VALUE If you only need the HXFX Snapshots that are in ONE HXFX Preset you can set the LT Preset's default Snapshot's IC1 to send the HXFX Preset# so that it's called when the LT's Preset loads, then use single Stomps to call the HXFX SS#s. In this way the LT Preset can call any HXFX Preset from its 8 Snapshots and any HXFX Snapshot from those Presets using the LT's Stomps. Don't forget to turn OFF "MIDI PC SEND" in Global Settings on the LT to prevent the LT from sending its DEFAULT PC# when you load a preset. Attached is an example Preset. It assumes that the HXFX is on the same MIDI Channel as the LT BASE Channel. Obgibo.hlx

HX Stomp 3. HX Stomp XL 4.

Whenever something totally weird starts happening, perform a Factory Reset (don't forget to back-up first!). If it then continues to happen contact support.

The "MIC" feature in the Powercab is only applied when you're using Speaker Emulation. FRFR just passes what comes in from the Helix. Same as if you just ran the XLR from Helix.

Wire your rig for 4cm (see the manual). Guitar>Helix In>Pre FX>Helix SEND>Amp IN>Amp SEND>Helix RETURN>Post FX>Helix Main Out>Amp RETURN You can place a Helix Amp next to an FX Loop Block and set them both to the same FS (or use Snapshots) so that when the Helix Amp is ON the FX Loop is OFF and the full Helix Preset is routed to the amp's FX Return. Then when the Helix Amp is OFF the FX Loop is ON and you're using the Helix FX (Pre and Post) with the Physical Amp's Preamp. Obviously, you can create Presets designed for on or the other routing also. Download and read the manual. There's LOTS of possibilities.

Again, contact support to find the best source for customers in Spain. Tell them what part you need. They would know better than anyone on this forum where you can get that part in your area of the world.

MIDI is MIDI. If the device has a 5pin MIDI port and you connect it to another device with a 5pin MIDI port, the age of the device re compatibility is NOT the issue. The issue is what EXACTLY is the sending device sending, and can the receiving device actually HEAR what is being sent. Connect your HD500 to your computer using a MIDI Interface. That could be an Audio Interface with MIDI Ports or even the cheapest MIDI to USB cable: Amazon.com: TENINYU USB to MIDI Cable Converter 2 in 1 PC to Synthesizer Music Studio Keyboard Interface Wire Plug Controller Adapter Cord 16 Channels Supports Computer Laptop Windows and Mac : Musical Instruments DL a MIDI Monitor such as this: MIDIView - Free MIDI Monitor tool for Win & Mac (hautetechnique.com) This will tell you what EXACTLY is being sent. Most importantly the MIDI CHANNEL. Assuming that the MIDI CHANNEL matches between the HD500 and the Catalyst, you should have communication. That said, I have observed that the Catalyst works best on MIDI Channel 1. That should not be an issue, but it can be, so use MIDI CHANNEL 1. Read the devices' manuals to see how to set these. The Catalyst requires the APP for this. Now you need to know which CC#s are required to control whatever. Note that the Catalyst requires TOGGLING CCs for switches. That means a CC VALUE of 127=ON; 0=OFF. Expression pedals controlling variable values such as VOLUME use a RANGE of VALUES which can be set anywhere between 0-127, typically 0-127.

Hurry and trade your crappy L6 products for something of REAL QUALITY like a Headrush product. Their Service and Support are INFINITELY SUPERIOR! I've heard that Mooer and NUX are also VERY customer oriented! Yes, that was snark. I've had my Helix since 2006. The only serious issue I ever had (a bad board) was resolved completely (no charge) with a one week turnaround time. When one of my 4yo out of warranty HXStomp's knobs malfunctioned they sent me a new HXStomp. Again, in under a week. Yes, the trim on my Cat100 is falling off (fixed on the new CX version). I keep meaning to super glue it, but I'm concerned that might be beyond my technical abilities ;-). BTW, if you haven't heard, you can upgrade the FW to give your Cat all of the functions of the new CX version. FREE! The build quality (apart from the trim) is very good. IDK what you're expecting for the price. Norwegian wood? No, I probably wouldn't take it on a world tour. OTOH, if it broke somewhere in Uzbekistan I'm confident that L6 would find me a replacement. A good friend has fronted a Punk/Metal Band for YEARS, playing in every dive bar in Colorado, using a Spider 75 and a POD Bean, both of which he's had since they were released. In short, your concerns are groundless. Even with their limited hours I've only once had a problem contacting them by phone , and then I got a message that they were in a meeting. Not saying it can't happen, just never been my experience. Call Line 6 Technical Support If your issue involves using a computer, to help us better assist you, please complete your support profile. The support team for US customers can be reached at 818-575-3600 (option 2), 8am-12pm M-F Pacific Time. This is a user-to-user support forum. Nobody from L6 hangs out here. If you want someone from L6 to see your suggestion, post it HERE: https://line6.ideascale.com/c/ Search first and vote for all of the similar suggestions so as not to dilute the votes. FWIW - while you're growing old waiting for L6 to implement your suggestion, get a cheap mixer, run the iPhone into it and connect the mixer to the AUX In.

"Memory" has nothing to do with it. If the effect fits in the preset - you don't flat run out of DSP - you're good. I rarely if ever play pure single note lines, so I use the Poly Capo. That is VERY DSP intensive, which forces me to use only the FX required - no "kitchen sink" presets. Yet, I can usually get what I need by making judicious choices. Don't dismiss the "Legacy" FX which are often less DSP intensive. Works for me. YMMV. You MIGHT need a full-fat Helix.

HP = Head Phone. Correct. Catalyst is a MONO amp.

The Powercab+ amps excel with Helix Rack/Floor/LT. They also have a learning curve. Lots of people post "I had one for 10 minutes and returned it 'cause it sucked!" Good for you! I hope you lost money on the deal, 'cause you're an idiot! If all you have is the Catalyst, get the FRFR112. You can use 2 by linking them by XLR (there's an XLR out on the FRFR112). Or you can get an XLR Splitter, which makes level matching easier. However, be aware that the XLR Out on the Cat is not stereo. Your 2 Powered speakers will be MONO. The only stereo function in a Cat is the HP Out on the 100/200, and that is ONLY stereo from the AUX in. The Cat guitar signal is not stereo at any point.
-
There's no logical reason for that. I use ALL of my Helix Floor's outputs at once - Digital (PC212+ via AES/Scarlett 18i20 via SPDIF), 1/4" (and S/R1) to Catalyst/Catalyst XLR to Scarlett, S/R2 to ToneX pedal and XLR from Helix AND PC212+ to Scarlett for physical routing to various output devices from various sources - Helix, Cat, Daw/Amp Sims - anything to anything and all-at-once. Well, I can't use AES/SPDIF at the same time and sending a signal to the PC212+ while sending its XLR can cause feedback related routing issues, but you get the point, I hope. There're all sorts of possibilities in your configuration for why/how signal could be affected by routing, but simply plugging in a cable on the LT is NOT one of them. There's something else going on.

I'm using a Headrush FRFR112. Despite the bad rap it gets from tone snobs on the forums (mostly, I suspect, because it's cheap), I think it sounds great and, unless you're touring (where dependability/durability becomes a factor), it's a great bang-for-the-buck option. Its Alto cousins are also fine. If you want to spend more for the durability factor then Yamaha, EV, QSC, any PA type cab works. If "backline appearance" (MUST look like a GUITAR cab) matters, there's even higher end choices like Atomic CLR. Recently, Fender has released the FR10/FR12 cabs which are both affordable and guitar cab looking which, while I've never used them, are said to sound great (even on the tone snob forums). Just be sure to get them at a proper dealer with a reasonable returns policy, as the earliest mfg runs had audible low volume "hiss" problems. I wouldn't buy one used, as there's no way to tell by s/n when it was mfr'd.

The Channel Volume controls the Output Level from the XLR. The Master Volume controls the level of the Main Cab Speaker. Use them in conjunction to balance the levels. The Channel Volume affects the Master, but NOT vice versa. IOW - if you WANT to bypass the Cat's speaker, just turn down the Master Volume. Everything else functions as expected and with the latest FW you can turn OFF the Speaker Emulation on the XLRs, which allows you to use your own IR Loader. I find that for LIVE use (with powered FRFR) the Speaker Emulation sounds fine, but this is a handy feature if you're using the XLR Out for recording.

The 1x12 Cats are 4ohm and there's no external speaker out. Since it's a solid-state amp you can use a 4ohm and probably an 8ohm cab, but using an external cab and either would (IIRC how combining speakers works) lower the load to 2ohms and I'm not sure that would be safe for the power amp. You could wire a cut-out to use only the external cab at either 4 or 8ohms, but at 8ohms it would lower the output power of the amp. I'm sure that someone with more electronics know-how than me will chime in on this. @Schmalle? I use a powered cab (FRFR112) and the XLR Out which I think sounds great, and it's frelling LOUD!

HX Stomp Left/Right outputs always plugged into on board junction box...
rd2rk replied to johnnygomezmusic's topic in Helix
Your description of the signal chain sounds like the Vertex "Stereo" wiring that you get when you scan the QR Code. In terms of physical wiring that's pretty straight forward, with the addition of the L/R from the last "Time Based Effect" being connected to the HXS L/R Inputs and the HXS L/R Main Outputs connected to the Vertex L/R Inputs and on to the amps. If I've got that right, then apart from defective cables, that leaves the internal routings of the patches in the "Time Based Effects" and the HXS. Check the patches in the H90 and Big Sky to be sure that they are outputting on both channels. Remember that unless ALL blocks in the HXS signal chain are stereo (or the Path is SPLIT and recombined, in which case BOTH the A and B paths will be STEREO and can contain stereo FX) the signal will be summed to MONO. Check any SPLIT and MIX points for panning issues. Attach a copy of the preset that you want to use (the client's original? NOT a screenshot!) so that we can have a look at it. -
Press and hold the Channel button (A or B) where you wish to SAVE the preset. When the LEDs start blinking you can release the button. I don't think you can manually SAVE an existing preset to a different Bank.

Using FS4: You can use a GAIN Block at the end of the signal chain. If you're using a compressor at the end ala Jason Sadites you can use its level. An EQ at the end use its level. A cab at the end use its level. You get the idea.

I never use the HPs on either unit, they're normally in different locations (office/studio) and connect to mixers to combine other audio sources. I'm pretty sure that they are known to use different HP amps and that there IS a difference.

I tested my Helix Floor vs my HX Stomp. Identical presets - just the Whowatt+Cab at default settings. With the Input Pad on the Floor OFF and the HXS Input at Instrument Level, 1/4" Outputs of both set to LINE. Guitar connected to ABY Box via G10. 1/4" outs from each to Channels 1 and 2 of my Scarlett 18i20. All identical cables. Ableton LIVE 12 with IK TR5 db/LUFS meter on both Channels. The difference? <>1db. The Floor was <>1db louder. Until I swapped the cables 1-2/2-1. Then the HXS was 1db louder. I got identical results with the Outputs set to Instrument. IDK if it's the cables (Identical GC Live Wires) or the ABY Box (GC Live Wires), but either way, <>1db is NOT a big difference. I'd call it statistically insignificant. Beats me why you guys are getting radical differences. I suppose you could speculate that the LT/HXSXL pairing is different than the Floor/HXS pairing, but I doubt it.

Is it possible to Flatten the Response of Powercab 212+?
rd2rk replied to trentleebrewer's topic in Powercab
IIRC, LF Flat is the speaker eq'd to be flat, no HF Driver. In Speaker Mode I assigned CC#5 (HF Trim) to an expression pedal and played, both guitar and synth. I can see the HF Trim slider moving in Powercab Edit/System but hear no difference, so it does appear that the HF Driver is OFF in Speaker Mode.
