  1. Wolf Did you get anywhere with this? I'm my second L3t and have a similar crackle/sizzle on sustained bass notes. Cheers
  2. Rarely use it, but I think it is a useful facility to have in case you need to mic up an acoustic or whatever.
  3. Thanks, that is a good point. Makes complete sense too because you would not want any tone alteration on the signal sent to outboard effects. I guess in the Line 6 video he had it set to Studio/Direct because he was only demoing the acoustic routing and had separate patches for the acoustic and electric
  4. I mainly use preamp models without cab and mic simulation when using my DT25 head and 2x12 cab. Occasionally I'll use a full model, but will still disable cab and mic. I never use LVM now, since the POD firmware update that improved the master and channel volume interaction with DT amps.
  5. I've tried that approach, but I still have questions. With my DT head connected by L6 link, the POD defaults to Stack/Power Amp output mode, so I would have to manually select Studio/Direct. Whats more, to my ears having the POD in Studio/Direct compromises the electric tone through the DT. I'm assuming the L2 was set to Acoustic Guitar speaker mode. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the EQ corrections applied for the non-Studio/Direct output modes only effective when there is an amp block used? If so, it would still make more sense to me to have the POD in Stack or Combo output mode, because the electric sound would be optimised for the DT and the EQ corrections would have no effect on the acoustic tone. Or am I talking lollipop? As an aside, when I tried this approach with my dual electric/acoustic patch the other day I was getting a nasty popping sound from my L3t. Fortunately, my L3t is being replaced tomorrow because of another fault, so it may be that I just have the runt of the litter.
  6. Hardly used the thing since having it repaired and the same loss of HF fault has returned. Not happy :-(
  7. Using the FX loop send approach (see my patch in post #18), you can feed the acoustic model into the side input of an L2t / L3t and take advantage of the acoustic body modelling (if you want) and the reverb, thereby saving some DSP. Appreciate this is offset a bit by having to include an Fx loop block, but presumably that uses less DSP than a reverb block.
  8. Should be able to. See my patch in this thread. I had the acoustic side (from the FX send) going to my studio monitors, but you can take the FX send and put it into the side input of your L2t and use the acoustic body modelling instead. The patch uses a pan control pan between the acoustic and electric, but you can modify that to blend or remove it all together if you want acoustic and electric simultaneously all the time. I've not looked at it yet, but the Sean Halley video at the end of the same thread looks interesting. I suppose there's no reason you can't just achieve the same result by assigning Amps A and B to the DT and L2 respectively.
  9. Yeah,I know where you're coming from radatats. I have a similar dilemma about whether to sell my DT25 and cab, and just keep the L3t. I think the only way I might consider it is by getting another L3 for proper dual amp use or PA duties. There is just something special about the DT that is stopping me!
  10. Well not really a compromise with the output settings, because with the L in Electric Guitar mode it is voiced like the power amp stage of a guitar amp, so it works best with Stack/Poweramp. For me, the compromise is that the L speaker mode doesn't change to Acoustic guitar when I change the patch on my POD, so I can't use both DT and L for dual amp electric on one patch and then mute the DT and use just the L for acoustic on another patch. This is because the L-series speaker mode won't change so has to be manually set to either electric guitar or acoustic guitar.
  11. I have tried using Studio Direct, but with the DT amp it defaults to Stack Pwr Amp (with my HD Pro) and sounds better, for me at least. The best configuration is JTV > HD > DT > L2M. If you put the stagesource before the DT amp in the L6 link chain, the DT topology settings stored in your POD patches aren't passed through (presumably for the same reasons that the stagesource speaker mode isn't passed through the DT when you have it in the other configuration).
  12. My HD Pro defaults to Stack Pwr Amp with that configuration, which sounds fine to my ears. I think the HD500 might default to Combo though...not sure.
  13. As soon as you hook up a DT amp via L6 link, the POD switches out of studio/direct output mode. The output mode is a global setting so affects all amp models. If you have a stagesource speaker attached to the L6 link chain, it's best to set the speaker mode to Electric Guitar and have the POD output mode set to combo or stack. Say you have a pre model on Amp A and a full model on Amp B, on page 9/10 of setup you can choose to direct Amp A to the DT and Amp B to the stagesource. It works well and sounds great! The only issue I have found is that if you then want to switch to a patch that is optimised for acoustic on Amp B, the stagesource does not change speaker model to Acoustic guitar, even if the patch was saved with the acoustic speaker mode set.
  14. Sorry - I didn't word my last post very well. It's a null amp block (no amp model), so bypass volume does not do anything. Bypass volume only has an effect if you have an amp model in place but disabled. With 'no amp' selected, the signal passes straight through.
  15. Amp B is disabled as I just wanted to pass the acoustic tone straight through to the FX loop block.
  16. If you want to send the pre model to the DT and the full model to the L3t you'll need to make a dual amp patch and then assign the output from amp A (assuming that's the pre) to the DT and amp B to the L3t. Make sure you have manually selected the electric guitar speaker mode on the L3. When connected via L6 link through the DT, the speaker mode won't be saved in your patch. This is my only complaint about this setup.
  17. Here goes: http://line6.com/customtone/tone/389148/ The pan placement is right at the start of the chain to pan between path A and B. Mags go to path A and variax acoustic to path B with the FX loop block pulling the signal off before it hits the mixer. Pretty similar to your second patch. (Apologies, I had paths A and B reversed in my previous post).
  18. I put an FX loop block in the acoustic patches and then take the FX send signal. With nothing coming back into the FX loop return, the signal does not go to the DT. I've got a couple of patches where the amp model A path has the FX loop block and amp B set up for electric. Using the expression pedal as a pan control I can blend between acoustic (direct) and electric (via DT25). It's a flexible setup, just takes a bit of time to learn the tricks.
  19. Precisely - we should be made aware of these things before purchase. I think I would have still purchased the L3 as I wanted mainly for acoustic, but I was highly disappointed that this didn't work.
  20. Yes DMX are fine. I use them for L6 link with my DT head and L3t and the mode switching works fine with one or the other (not both together though).
  21. That's exactly the issue I had. I returned it to L6 for repair. The fault sheet specified "Verified HF cutting out as per <my example audio file>, Intermittent HF speaker function - loose speaker connection at J2." It was fixed and sent back to me and it sounds fine now.
  22. It's a simple fault to fix, but if they are sending you a new one as a replacement that's good news. You're right about the electric guitar speaker mode, but if you play acoustic try out the side input with the acoustic modelling and acoustic speaker mode. Utterly fantastic.
  23. It was an internal connection in my case. I only had my L3t 4 weeks before it had to go back for repair, so I still had all the packaging. It was collected and the shopping cost covered by the shop that I had bought it from. I suppose you could say I was lucky
  24. admnovo - I sent my L3t back to Line 6 under warranty for repair. It was a bad speaker connection. Problem described on the repair form as 'Intermittent HR speaker function: loose speaker connector @ J2'. Now fixed and working fine, but I was without it for 6 weeks. edit: sorry, I clicked 'solved' by mistake against that post.
