  1. I have the Spider V 120 and the patches are set very low on the channel volume (like dsetliff said) out of the box. Once I started building my own patches and modifying the factory presets, the power is there for sure. Don't get discouraged LWV120. Also if you hook up an ipad and download the spider app, you can load up tons of patches that other users have created and uploaded to the cloud... just be careful though as some of these patches are super loud, so you turn the master volume down between loading patches.
  2. Anyone know if there is a way to disable the save function from fbv longboard? I've got a lead foot and keep engaging that option while switching between patches. It annoying when you're playing live... thanks
  3. You don't need iPad or phone to edit patches... you can edit right from the amp... it is nice that they gave an iPad option with cloud storage and access to community tones. I hope they do come out with a pc editor though... I picked up the spider v 120 and so far I'm very happy with the features. Thank god they finally brought back the direct outputs without bypassing the speakers (for stage volume) on the higher models (not available on all). Was my only disappointment with the spider iv. I own a lot of Line 6 gear and this small, flexible, light weight amp is the perfect combo for live gigging with a cover band. I also picked up a relay g10 for the built in wireless... very nice. Crisp, clean and no latency.... I like that it works with all of my old FBV longboards too. For $399 they are giving a lot of functionality and features... finally I have everything in one package that is really light weight.
  4. Spider Remote... might want to post that someplace more visible for new customers. :)

    Wah and Volume

I'm sure I'm just overlooking something so simple, but I'm stuck. I have set up all of my patches to have EXP 1 as my Wah Pedal (and defaulting the toe switch "OFF") and I have a Mission Engineering EP1-L6 Expression Pedal connected to EXP 2. Here's where I'm stuck... I can't figure out how to make the volume pedal block "active" by default. The EP1-l6 does not have a toe switch. Some of my patches when I added the pedal is was active and other it is not. Thanks in advance...
  8. I've tried all sorts of ways... including resting my fingers on the back edge (minus the wrapping) I could never be a surgeon and guitarist always wonder how I can pull off the chops that I do with the sausage fingers I'm sportin'... lol I'm one of those dudes with the vise grip hand shake. I'm surprised I haven't snapped the joystick off yet by accident! ;)
  9. Thanks for the feedback DL... but still having the problem no matter where I press. I will say that pressing from the top made a little difference, but every third or fourth time... bam! it flips a block and if I forgot to save, I have to start all over again... For me this has become extremely frustrating.
  10. Cool... Hope you had a good show robbieb61
  11. I agree with DI that "if" they did have auto save it needs to be optional and default to not on... it wouldn't be bad if there was an "undo last action" button. Here's a real life observation why... now that I'm comfortable getting around my Helix, I'm moving quick to edit my blocks... although the joystick is nice, it also adjusts parameters by twisting, so when you're pressing left, right, up or down, it will sometimes accidentally spin as you're moving across blocks. If you're not paying attention, you can change any block and loose the parameter adjustments you've made (like if you accidentally switch an Amp model that you've been tweaking for a while). I have to admit, that became very frustrating last night. Save Often!!!
  12. Hey robbieb61... I had the same problem last night running my Helix into my DT25 through the L6 Link. I see that you tried using the 1/4" outputs. That's what I'm using, but I set up two separate paths... The one that goes to the DT I only use PreAmp models, and the one going to PA/FOH I used Amp+Cab. On the DT, I setup my topology to IV and I'm only working with channel A. It took some messing around, but once I got the settings on my DT dialed in, it sounds really good. Then again, until I take it out to a gig, can't say for sure. I'm curious how did you set your outputs up going to PA/FOH and to your JBL -vs- PA/FOH and DT50?

    Carrying case or bag

I got my Helix... but the bag is delay for some reason through Amazon. :(
  14. I see... so you could get an isolated headphone mix of just the XLR output, or something else. In my scenario, if I set it to multi, I would be hearing both sets of blocks summed into the headphones. I made a jump after seeing how the volume knob could be set, it appears like it would give you the same result at first glance. For me the good news is that I can separate my levels (FOH & Stage) and control my stage volume.
  15. First off… what an insane piece of equipment the Helix is… So far, I’m very impressed. The Helix output controls are pretty awesome. They allow you to choose exactly what gets sent out of the various available outputs and control levels many different way. Bravo Line 6… that’s so important! Here’s how I’m running my HX (at the moment): I have a DT25 and I'm just using the 1/4" outputs into the front input on the amp. 1/4" outputs are set to Instrument level and XLR is set to line level. I have mine set up so that my volume knob controls the 1/4" outputs ONLY and although I set the Headphone knob to control the XLR outputs ONLY, it does NOT. Is this a Bug perhaps? That aside, it does give me a solid line level signal to the XLR outs which I send to PA/FOH and I'm able to control the level going to my DT25 for stage volume with the volume knob without effecting the signal going to the PA/FOH. I am going to try using the L6link with 110Ω XLR cable instead of the 1/4" outputs tonight to see if there is any noise reduction benefit. Still not happy about not being able to control topology from Helix though. :( I’ve set up two separate signal paths both start with the guitar input but one is routed to 1/4†outputs and the other is routed to the XLR outputs . I basically made them identical except on the path of blocks which goes to the 1/4" outputs to my DT25 using the preamp models only and I setup channel “A†on the DT25 with a topology that I feel will give me a good clean and dirty tone. On the path of blocks that goes to my XLR outputs I'm using the matching Amp+Cab models for PA/FOH. I must say with very minimal amount of work, it sounds great through both the DT25 and my PA. I do have one suggestion and I’m curious if anyone else would find this useful… it would be really nice to be able to “link blocks†for editing purposes. i.e. I have two blocks with the same reverb setup on two paths that I’d like to be able to control together. If I need to adjust let’s say the decay and mix, currently I need to do it on one block and then copy paste the block to the other. If they were linked, they would function together and that would come in really handy during live performances where sometimes you need to tweak something. It’s great that you can go into edit mode using the foot switches and adjust something and then save it all with your feet, but would be more practical if blocks could be linked. Anyways... just some feedback for those interested.
  16. Go to downloads area http://line6.com/software/ choose "Helix" from the drop down menu. Download the Link Updater and read the instructions... It's really easy... The Driver is listed too, but the updater took care of everything. You'll also want to download and install the Helix App. If you've been playing around making presets, back up your bundle first, then run the updater.
  17. I must have misread another post... Thanks for the heads up. Either way, still would like to see the Helix control the DT like the HD does.
  18. cruisinon2 you hit the nail on the head... I'm not taking this thing to a gig until I've put it through all the ringers. I'll still have a backup rig ready to go at the first show (just in case!). I got mine today and I've been playing with it since I got home around 6:00pm. Running it through my PA and my DT25 to hear the tones through both. The loss of Line 6 Link to control the amp's topology is a major bummer. For now I'm just running it like you would with any other amp. I will say that the line level presets going through my PA are pretty impressive for direct into FOH. some neat stuff... but tons more to explore and work on. Still not sure if I could switch from an Amp over to a Full Range monitor and be happy on stage... The overtones are just not singing through the full range like they do with an amp. But to be fair to Line 6, I haven't worked through all the variables yet, so who knows. I can say that the UI is really cool to work with and the Helix seems really flexible for routing and also for controlling signal levels through the various output options. Only time will tell the full story...
  19. Hopefully they find yours... and hopefully you'll be unboxing it soon... and hopefully I'll be unboxing mine in an hour! ;) We'll see
  20. I have a DT25 and a HD500x... I thought for sure this rig would get me the tones and flexibility I was looking for. Can't say I've got what I was hoping for and I have since given up on the HD500x... (I'll be selling mine soon) When I watched the videos of the Helix, I quickly got on the pre-order list. Based on the price tag and features they were talking about. For the price tag, I'm hoping it's all they've built it up to be. It wasn't until a couple of weeks ago that I found out that the Helix wasn't going to be able to control the topology of the DT amp. I am going to cast my vote in favor of DT HX integration as soon as a moderator approves me. Like many other people who's comments I've read, loosing that functionality seems like a step backwards. Yes, using Midi CC to change the DT amp settings might get the job done, who wants to do that extra work? One of the nice parts about the Helix is that the UI looks very easy to work with... now I need to go back to creating Midi CC? BassAckwards! Hopefully more DT owners who are interested in purchasing (or have purchased) the HX come out of the shadows to support the cause. Sorry for the rant... I'm new to the community here, but I've owned Line 6 since the original Vetta days. I have stacks of Line 6 products in my home studio... still waiting for the right fit to replace my go to rig. Hoping Helix paired with my DT25 will be it.
  21. I had mine sent FedEx overnight... I walked out the door this morning at 9:45am was to my office at 10:00am... check the status online at 10:30am and it said that no one was home to sign for it at 10:07, so they'll try again tomorrow. :( It was supposed to come to my office... I called FedEx, they said the driver will swing by my house tonight at 6:00pm.
