I dig the PhD and the Divide because of the complexity of the models... These are the ones most likely to cause DSP overload lol... The Super Lead is, well a Woodstock classic amp....

FWIW, I got the Line6 one and have thus far had zero issues in 4 months of strictly at home use. -

Clicking On A Tone In Customtone Takes Me To Line 6 Home Page?

I'm not really liking the new Yamaha powered Line6 very much. They suddenly seem out of sync, disjointed and even aloof in my opinion. They have dropped support for a variety of still widely used gear and the only thing they have new is this AmpliFi roboamp. Is that just me being curmudgeonly? -
Do the electronics eat you out of house and home, or otherwise cost you in any way just sitting there in the guitar? My advice would be to leave it alone man, and enjoy it when the mood suits you. Alternatively, sell the guitar part and parcel and get another shredder. There are lots of great axes out there if the modeling drives you that crazy. You might even end up with a better player and a few extra dollars!

Yeah, one of the main complaints against the DT series seems to be it's lackluster sounds with the JTV acoustics. I really do want access to the acoustics and I like what I here direct too, so that is a plus two. I'm kind of hanging until I can find a place to go and TRY these things before I drop a small fortune of something lol...

Well, consider this as you go though; Boss only gives you the interface on the machine itself to make patches, right? By contrast, Line6 gives us a very nice HD Edit program to tweak our patches without ever touching the POD once it is connected by USB, so the build quality isn't as much of an issue. remember, once you get your patches worked out, or more specifically once you are playing a gig -- you won't be touching anything but the footswitches anyway, right? Not saying Line6 gets a pass on flimsy switches and knobs but I'll bet the cost of developing the companion spoftware (neither cheap nor easy BTW) is factored into the cost of the POD itself, hence the tradeoff being less robust knobs. Make sense?

This is just the way things are built these days. I don't like it either. I have a POD HD500 and when they came out with the 500x, they said there was better footswitches. Didn't make me feel that good about mine lol... With a product like these, you have what 6 knobs, 4 switches and one 4 way "hat" switch doing roughly 2,257,659 possible things between them to program a machine as complicated INSIDE as an HD POD is....something is bound to break with that kind of use. I use the POD HD Edit as much as possible and one of the reasons is saving wear and tear on the moving parts. Seriously. Yeah, it's easier to see and deal with as well, but I have no particular usage issue using the machine itself.

Weird Overtones On Jtv 59 On Low E
smrybacki replied to stumblinman's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I had this kind of problem, and I solved it by leveling fret number 10. It was a little high and as a result, was buzzing and causing what I understand you to be experiencing. Take a small but VERY STRAIGHT piece of metal like a 6" metal ruler. It only has to cover three frets at a time, so shorter is better. StewMac sells such a tool, but any shorter piece of metal or anything straight will work. Anyway, place it over three frets starting at the first three. Check to make sure that the level is firmly in contact with all three frets If it is rocking at all, the fret in the middle is high. FIXING high frets really requires the proper tools and a bit of specialized knowledge, but at least you can rule your frets out. My Variax is a "Scratch and Dent" JTV59 from Sweetwater for reference. -
Is all good... Line6 is trying to make money after all, this time in the great untapped teenie bopper, iPhone taping crowd.

okay, now that right there was funny.

Seriously? It's about both. In case you hadn't noticed it's an AMPLIFIER designed to use IOS (Android being a popular direct competitor) to facilitate making music. So you'll just have to pardon us if the discussion veers off on a small tangent of why one OS was supported and not another. Somebody pee in your corn flakes today?

My ride has no OS...

But... Aw screw it, I ain't gonna buy the thing anyway lol...

I'm not going to buy an AMPLIFi it even if they do ;)

Not so fast...from that article: "The widespread adoption of the OS comes partly from the recent launch of four new devices, the iPhone 5s/5c, iPad Air, and iPad Mini, all of which came with iOS 7 preinstalled. The 4 percent gain in December came from users upgrading from iOS 6, the previous year’s version. At the beginning of the month, iOS 6 users represented 22 percent of active devices; now they represent 18 percent." So basically, 6 percent of existing customers on iOS6 upgraded in December. Part of Android's problem is Verizon Wireless, who holds it hostage in SO many ways. The adoption rate would nearly universal (I feel) if Verizon quits blocking the friggin' update lol....My Droid RAZR MAXX HD has been slated for uddate to AOS4.4 since the announcement...still waiting on Verizon to sort out their bloatware components and push the dang thing. I will give Apple this much; They mus wield tremendous clout given the way Verizon fawns over them...
