  1. when you say left and right are you saying amp 1 left amp 2 right? Or amp 1 left/right and amp 2 Left/right? How should the path for the L2M be set?
  2. HD50? I assume you mean DT50. Correct? And when you say stage source you mean your L3T correct? Just trying to get my terms right
  3. ok. Can I have the DT'S Variax mags and the acoustic L2M?
  4. How do I get this configured? This is what I have: Variax VDI-->HD500-->DT25-->DT50-->L2M This is what I want to do: Variax mags to the DT25 (J45) & DT50 (Divide by 13) Variax acoustic to the L2M. I'm stumped on how to make this happen. Thanx
  5. I know what the thread is about. I agree that issues of bug fixes and those things that aid in a better user experience should happen ASAP in that order. I believe that is mostly what firmware updates address. I'm a bit techno challenged so please correct me if that's wrong. You specifically mentioned artists set lists. Others in this thread have mentioned similar issues like the Soldano being the last amp offering. So that is what I am addressing. I don't want or particularly need Line 6 to create patches for me. I would rather do that on my own. It's strictly a personal preference. I enjoy playing guitar, I enjoy coming up with my own new tones and colors. I love sitting with a blank preset and getting to work. It makes me play more guitar and to me that is a win! It gets my creative song writing juices flowing. It is a part of the whole creative process! I speak only for me. Having someone do it for me takes the fun creative process out of it. With that said, I wouldn't have to download an artist set list if it's offered. I can ignore that just as I ignore the factory presets that came with the Pod. So heck, if there is a demand for it and it's truly easy to do as you seem to think it is, why not! Still I would prefer tips and tricks. They could have great titles like "The Red Comp and You! 7 was to maximize the Red Compressor" "The Fuzzy Faces of Death" or my favorite "Fear of a Black Face! The BF Double Explored!" Think about it! I've got my coffee and I'm headin in to play some guitar! I think I'll explore Bonamassa tones today!
  6. I can see how that could be cool. But I can also see a few issues with that idea as well. I would favor more tips and tricks videos over an artist set list. A lot of artists I like don't use a Pod. And those that do use a Pod (hypothetically, cause none of the artists I like use anything Line 6) may not have my guitar, and I don't have their fingers and a bunch of other stuff. I can just hear the disgruntled artist set list recipient on this forum..."This doesn't sound like Steve Howe!" "How can Line 6 call this a Steve Howe set list!" "I tried to download the set list and....." And so on.If one wants a particular artist sound, part of the fun, at least for me, is grabbing a cup of coffee and my guitar firing up my gear and figuring it out. I never get the tone exactly but I am always able to capture the essence of the tone that got my interest. General Question: Have we all truly squeezed everything that we can squeeze out of 30 amp model offerings, 100 FX model offerings, so much so that we absolutely must have more, new and different? Maybe so! I just haven't arrived there yet.
  7. Wouldn't the artist have to do that? Line 6 doesn't set up Steve Howes Pod for him. Right?
  8. Bug fixes need to happen ASAP. Ease of operation should come second when possible. For those who want new amp models and FX, do you primarily use your pod for recording, for jamming in the bedroom or for playing live? If you are playing live gigs, what amp and guitar are you using? I use my gear primarily for live performance. My rig consists of an HD500 into a DT50, a DT25 and an L2M with a Variax that has Suhr ML classic single coils. My tone is absolutely amazing! With my current rig I can't see that I would ever need more amp and FX choices in a live setting. The choices for tone that I have available to me are, at times, a bit overwhelming. Maybe it's different for those using non Dream Rig gear. With non Dream rig gear, you loose out on some serious fine tuning. I'm purely speaking for myself and my small techno challenged little brain, but once you have a killer clean tone, a killer crunch tone, a killer jazz tone, a killer lead tone and maybe one or two more that aren't coming to my mind right now, what else does one need to play a killer live set? If I can't find a good tone from any of the 30 current amp models and 100 FX offerings, then an update is not going to help me. It's just going to muddy my already murky waters. I'm strictly thinking live performance. Maybe it's different for the studio or the bedroom or with a different amp or guitar.
  9. We'll my rig keeps on getting bigger and bigger. As of today I am running a DT25, a DT50 and an L2M with the HD 500. I've got a EH Super Ego and a Boss rotary in the FX loop. This is where the "Dream" in Dream Rig lives! Dual tones have taken on a whole new meaning for me. Being able to mix in acoustic guitar in my live show through the L2M is going to be incredible. (have not done it live yet. Only in rehearsal so far) I could go on and on. The bottom line is that the DT'S work very well together. The only problem I am having at the moment deals with the fact that the HD Edit is not on the iPad. When line 6 going to make that happen!
  10. I just got a DT25 and when I connect the Pod to it, the screen flashes to the momentary edit screen as though the amp values are being manually changed. Of course, I am not touching the knobs on the amp or the pod itself. No cables are anywhere near the POD knobs and I have exercised all spirits from my house a long time ago.. It doesn't do this through my DT50. Only the DT25.. Thoughts?
  11. My initial thought would be to drive my more distorted amps through the DT25 and my cleaner stuff through the 50. probably over thinking it a bit. I just know if I am doing a bluesy set, I tend to bring my 35 watt'er cause I can push it and break it up without ear shattering volume. And if I am doing something where I need to be cleaner at a good volume, I need the 50 watt'er. Wondering if that matters in a dual tone setting in Dream rig world.
  12. Howdy all! Has anyone tried a dual tone patch using a DT50 and a DT25? I notice most posts about about dual tones are using either 2 DT50's or 2 DT25's or a DT and L series. Care to share what model selection works best for which amp in this configuration? Thanx
  13. I didn't complete my post. Input 2 is set to same for me. BUT maybe that is why some of my DT only patches are a bit noisy. I'm gonna have to do some investigatin'!
  14. I center the mixer as well. I dont have too many volume leveling issues because I only use a few of the amp models in a live situation. I need a clean, a crunch, and a lead tone. I dont think i need to cycle through 12 amps to make that happen. With the proper fx in the proper order, the PHD does a fine job for me these days. If one absolutely must go from an FBall to a Blackface and back again in a single song or set, I have found that a studio eq in the chain can help boost the lower volume models without too much color. Be carefully of clipping.
  15. "Input 1: guitar+variax" That's what I use and it works pretty good for me.
  16. I have both and did an extensive a/b of both through my DT-50. To my ears there is very little difference in a low gain setting. When you roll up the gain on both is where I can spot a difference. With that said, I think we have a tendency (I know I did) to want to make the POD FX sound exactly like something else. We get caught up on the term "Modeling" and think that means that the screamer is supposed to sound EXACTLY like TS-9 frequency for frequency. The term is "modeled", not "clone". I think that the HD does a pretty good job at capturing the essence of the fx it is modeling. It also gives you a lot more control over the tone. For example on the POD, you can adjust the treble and bass of the screamer. You cant do that on the TS-9. Maxon makes a fantastic tube screamer type model. Even looks like the original. But they are different. Good, but different. Why spend time trying to make the Maxon sound EXACTLY like the TS-9? It's a waste of time. Our Line 6 gear is good stuff. Dont let any boutiquer tell you any different. When I stopped spending time dialing up an almost spot on tube screamer tone and started dialing up a great tone for my song "Cadillac" is when my Dream Rig really began fulfilling the dream. The real proof of great tone is how it makes you smile when you crank it up and go for it! You feel it in your chest! You see it on the faces of those who are listening! Get out there and play guitar!
  17. Jandrio, thanx for the +1 on my completely late to the party and totally irrelevant post. Be careful though. I've got it from a very reliable and stable source, we'll call him Mr. Cuddlesworth for now, that there be a Troll on this here thread! Proceed at your own risk!
  18. Bwaaahahaha!...... How about now? Do you feel better now? And, and, my dad can beat up your dad! Hee hee hee! Don't blow a vessel Bobby! This is a forum about music, guitars and gear. Why are you so angry? You seem like a very emotional dude. Are you ok? Need a hug? Do you lug this type of sensitivity in all of your interactions or is this reserved for the safety and anonymity of the internets? Hahahaha! I'm just funnin' with ya Bob! Relax! I am glad everything is all working for you. Sorry I am so "late to the party" I will try very hard to remain timely in my participation on this forum in the future. Thanx for that valuable lesson Bobby! I am lost without your kind and gentle guidance. And btw you care about what I think enough to be my pen pal in this thread...Bobby!
  19. That....plucked from someone else's dissertation. That and other comments from other posters in this thread who made mention of the presets and test driven presets and the like made me feel that my comments were relevant. Whoa Be the Tide for having a thought! My mistake... I guess you told me! Feel better? I bet you had a cigarette after that one!
  20. I think the presets are designed to be the most extreme examples of the units capabilities and were never intended to be used in a CheapTrick cover band. Stop being mad at the presets. Stop focusing on what you think should be offered to a "test driver". Start test driving the amp models. One by one. Learn how they behave. Then move on to the fx. Find out which chorus sounds best with what amp and in what position in the signal chain. Then move on to...... I like to think of it this way... When I was a younger guitarling, I would go into the Haight Ashbury Music Center ready to impress all who would listen with my very best Stairway To Heaven chops. I would make a mad dash for that $4000 gold top Les Paul and grab the first biggest and baddest amp that would turn on if I was able to locate the power switch. Then I would ask the sales dude for two things.....A patch cable and a pick (Fender Heavy if you will sir) Know what I didn't ask for?..... 40 stomp boxes, 12 different cabinets, 6 amp mic's, 4 acoustics, 3 Richenbachers and a Sitar! Even after I got a job at the Haight Ashbury Music Center, when we got new amps into the store, I only wanted to hear or "Test Drive" a guitar straight into the front of the amp. Once I got that amp singing, then and only then did I consider placing an effect into the mix. I am speaking to you, Bob, but also over your shoulder to anyone who is reading this trying to figure this mess out. This unit is a loooong way away from early mid price range multi fx processors and I think it requires a different approach than just plugging in and rocking out. Think of it as you being locked in you very own personal Haight Ashbury Music Center with a bunch of amps, fx and guitars and a custom shop. Then grab that Gretch off the wall, have the custom shop slap in some lipstick pickups, tune the whole thing to open G, plug it into a Hiwatt and see how that sounds. Then move on....This is where the Pod is worth it's weight!
  21. Just got back to this topic. I'm glad you got a better explanation and hopefully it will work out for you in the future. Seems like you have a lot of emotion about this so my fingers are crossed!
  22. You have to save each patch with variax mags as your source. Should get you back in buisness.
  23. Purchasing something that clearly and completely does not work for you in the present and "thinking" that Line 6 will make itl work for you in the future is is not a smart purchasing decision. I get your frustration, but you should be frustrated with a usefull $450 wad of cash in your pocket as opposed to frustrated and angry with a useless $450 amplifier in your in your bedroom.
  24. Chances are even if you could play at volume at home, it would sound different at rehearsal and different again at a gig. I suggest you get to rehearsal early and crank it up and adjust accordingly. I don't mean to be vague but that kind of question can only be answered by your ears.
