  1. thats what i figured out! tanx fellas!
  2. Thanx for the reply. I assume since you didn't address it, you don't use a Variax correct? You seem happy with your set up less the global eq thing. I was asking to hear from those who decided that the Pod could not give them what they needed. That doesn't sound like your situation. Sorry if I wasn't clear. I want to hear from those who gave up on the Pod and have moved to other gear. I am curious because if there is a common denominator among those who felt it was necessary to turn in their Pod, which I tend to think there is, it would be helpful to know what that commonality is. I mean if everyone who is convinced that the Pod isnt cutting it is using 4CM through a Honer amplifier, you can see that wouldn't apply to everyone. It could mean that it isn't the Pod that is lacking, but maybe how people are using it and with what and with what expectation of tone. Are you wanting a Fender twin clean tone while plugging it into the front a 25 watt Blackstar? Then your issue is not the Pod. Are you trying to get a Death Metal tone out of your Fender Champ and Tele Thinline? Then your issue is not the Pod. More importantly, those issues wouldn't apply to everyone and using statements like " The Pod is lacking something" may only be a tiny part of a bigger problem that very little to do with the Pod. Of course those examples are silly but hopefully illustrate what I'm getting at.
  3. For all those fine folks who find the Pod a bit "lacking" in some sort of fashion, I'd like to know the following..... *Do you primarily gig with your Pod, "headphone bedroom jam" or use it for recording? If you are a giging guitarist..... *Did you use the Pod in concert with a Variax, and a DT or L-Series speaker via L6 link? (Dream Rig) *If you didn't have a complete "Dream Rig", how were you connecting your Pod to your amp? (4CM? In front? Amp Fx loop? Vulcan Mind Meld?) *What type of amp are you connecting your Pod to? *What kind of music do you play? Smooth Jazz? Metal? (Djenty stuff) Blues? Classic rock? Worship? (which is a horrible descriptor for that type of rock music!) Lastly, are you trying to sound like someone else? (Cover Band for example) Or are you trying to sound like you? I believe that there may be an identifiable commonality here. If you could humor me and answer these questions, I think it would be very helpful to people trying to find the take aways from this conversation.
  4. I want to assign 2 fx to one pedal. A tube screamer and a Fuzz face. This is what I want to happen When the footswitch light is on I want the Fuzz Face to be on and the screamer to be off When the footswitch light is off, I want the Fuzz Face to be off and the screamer to be on. How do I do that? Thanx *****EDIT****** Never Mind! I just figured it out!
  5. It does seem a bit pricey when you can plug something like a MS100BT in the FX Loop like Radatats did and get 8 new amp models and a whole bunch of new FX for about the same money without any drain on DSP.
  6. did you recently update your Zoom? I thought you went with the 70 CDR? Is the Bluetooth worth the extra dough? I like the pod distortion choices. I only use 4 of them and the rock to me. I liked the CDR idea because of the lack of distortion. Are you finding that you like the Zoom distortion? Thanx for the link but the tubby rock dog dude from 1983 who finger banged a guitar for 6 min towards the bottom of the page was just friggen HORRIBLE! All I am able to discern from that clip is that the Zoom 100BT is capable of making a bunch of noise. And the constant hair flipping......PRICELESS! Someone needs to tell homeboy that it's 2015 now.
  7. Time? Who's got time to dial in a good tone? The Pod Poo Poo Patrol has got a dissertation to write on just how badly the Pod Sucks! Ain't nobody got no time to dial in no good tone! Shoooot!
  8. Firmware is up to date. Still not saving. Thoughts?
  9. That DeanDinosaur is a baaad motherfu.....SHUT YO MOUTH! ......But I'm talking bout Dean! I can dig it! (that's not mine, that's Isaac Hayes for all those who have no idea of what I'm talking about!) The best part is that once you've spent the bank on the new expensively fly gear, you REALLY feel like a dope if it too somehow falls short in some way for you. (Which it will! In some small or large way it will!) it's much easier to poo poo the less expensive gear. I play my gear every day and it sounds amazing to me. This whole "the eq is in % and not in Hz" and other yada yada is a bunch of yada yada to me. Percentage, Hz, smiley or frowning faces, it don't matter to me. My ears tell me everything I need to know! In the medical field you are taught to treat the patient and not the monitor that is hooked up to the patient. Stop looking at the screen and units of measurement and start listening. I am curious to know what type of music those who are jumping ship are playing. I wonder if there is a pattern.
  10. Guacamole + Panini Press = Mess! Don't do it!
  11. AMEN! The funny part to me is that the Kemper is just an expensive modeling amp with it's own unique angle to modeling. It STILL ain't a real Fender, Marshall, Super O etc... Not that I am not intrigued with it. Looking forward to fiddling with one myself. And really, what do you expect someone, who spent a good amount of time poo-pooing the POD and who just dropped $2K on an amp, to say after week of "spending some time with the unit?" Like he really is going to come back to this forum and objectively say...."Meh, the Kemper? It's only ok?" or "It kind of sucks?" or "It's good, but it ain't worth no $2,000!" No my friends, I am willing to bet that the Kemper is worth EVERY F'ING PENNY! It is going to change guitar world! With this amp one is transformed into a guitar GOD. The arthritis in your fingers dissipates when you walk into the same room with it! Where has this ting been all of our lives! I have met a lot of gear head fanboys. Some who are happy with their Line 6 gear are derisively labeled a "Fanboy" for daring to hold their Line 6 gear in high regard. Try listening to someone who just spent $2k on an amp. Ooooo-weeeeee! Bring a lunch cause you gonna be there for a while!
  12. Why did this post get -2? I mean aside from the biting sarcasm, what did he say that wasn't true? I agree 100%! Why come to this forum to make such a proclamation? I mean, you are still using your POD as a controller and for recording right? So why not use your experience in helping those who may also use their POD as a controller and for recording. Share how, when you get your new amp, you are going to integrate the POD into your set up. Share the cool stuff you figured out when recoding with your POD. Maybe that's what Toneman meant by "here we go again" You are not the first to make a Gettysburg address about how your $400 POD let you down and how you needed to get a $2K (Kemper, Axe FX, insert the way better and way more expensive gizmo here) "When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve a relationship with their HD500....." I got it bro, you don't like the POD. Please don't. I mean, if you are just looking for a platform to express your thoughts about your Kemper, there are more appropriate places to do it right? I just got a new Panini Press. This thing is bad @ss! I don't think many people are interested in my press. Those that are will probably find an appropriate forum about Panini Presses (or Kemper amps) where they can gather around the feet of the best and the brightest and be in awe of all that is truly wonderful about Panini Presses (Kemper amps) No disrespect intended. Just a thought.
  13. I know what they were trying to emulate. It's still a goofy patch.
  14. You ain't lying about that! If I could roll back the hands of time and keep the knowledge that I have today, I would have had a backup of my back up and never would have hit that stupid button! But when handed lemons, if you handle it right, you really can make some pretty tasty lemonade.
  15. There I was, recording my little heart out and I needed som wah-wah. As per usual, HD edit crashed (as it always does when using the on board expression pedal) I didn't want to go through the process of shutting down my DAW so I hit the "ok" button knowing that this will erase all of my patches except the one that I am using at the moment. I figured that I would stay in my creative flow and do the whole shutting down and rebooting process after I finished recording this one little passage. The genius that I am, I decided to try something new. I hit the send All button on the HD edit. AAAAUUUUGGGGGHHHHHH! ALL OF MY PATCHES ARE GONE! Why did I do that! And NO! I didn't have a back up! Hours of tweaking gone! But you know what? This is exactly what I needed! I reflashed the POD and got the factory bundle reinstalled. I basically have a brand new pod to play with but this time around I have a lot of experience behind me. I'm not trying to figure out how the POD works. I can just dive in and start creating patches that make sense and have them in an order that makes sense. Save my bundles and set lists in a manner that makes sense! Sure, I have lost some presets that I really liked. Presets that took me a long time to dial in. But a lot of that time was spent figuring out the difference between eq's and the different modulation types, mic options, DEP stuff and so on. I am going from "I wonder what will happen if....", to "I know what will happen when..." So recreating my lost patches has been pretty simple so far. I had run so deep down the POD rabbit hole, that it is oddly refreshing and exciting to have to start over. And here is something that I NEVER thought would be possible; a lot of the factory presets sound pretty darn good to me! I know that is crazy talk but it's true! Yes there is some stuff that is just plain goofy (Mysterious Wei comes to mind) but I am finding that I like quite a few of the factory offerings. Where as before, I had written them all off as garbage. So that is my tale of disaster and the Lotus flower that has risen from the ashes! Pretty cool in my mind! But seriously Line 6, you gotta do something about the crashing HD Edit expression pedal issue! It is REALLY ANOYING!
  16. Having trouble saving l2m settings per preset. What am I doing wrong?
  17. I've always hated The Who? I can't stand John Entwhistle's bass playing! All those friggin double stops and whatever you call that right hand finger banging of the strings. He always seemed like a frustrated guitarist who the band wouldn't let play guitar. Terrible! BUT....I have to admit....That is a cool clip! I love it! Now if you want to hear what a REAL rock bass player should sound like, check THIS out.....(the mind blowing part starts at around 3:00min)
  18. Yep, I was referring to playing along with pre recorded material. The click track seems to be the way to go. And Jandrio, you're suggesting that only the drummer need hear the click through headphones? Is the entire mix in the headphones or just the synth and click? The rest of the band need not apply? Not even the bass player? I also assume that the synth part will be fed to the monitors for the rest of the band to hear without click? What special gear do you need to make mainstage happen live?
  19. I record everything in Logic Pro 9. I have been flirting with the idea of adding mainstage. I don't want to hijack a thread about MIDI cc info but I have so many questions. If I am using MainStage for let's say a synth part, how is everyone playing on stage able to hear that synth part? Sure, put it through the monitors, but with so much stuff coming through the monitors, how does the band hear the Synth part well enough to make sure that they are in time with what MainStage is playing?
  20. I like it! Nice job! Good patch! Still can't tell which version sounds best from your clip. No chance you played the same song with version 1.9 at the same show and have that board mix as well? No? Rats! It wouldn't matter anyway. The models all sound pretty good when processed to kingdom come. Playing a simple clean patch through one clean amp is where the weirdness seems to creep in. All of the processing hides the weird tone foibles. Bottom line, the clip you shared is you trying to sound like someone else who is known the world over for a super processed guitar tone. And for the most part, mission impressively accomplished. That is really all that matters; Is it getting the job done. The answer in this case is Yes! But if you want to sound like someone who really only plugs a guitar into an amp with little to no processing, like a Robben Ford for example, you're gonna have to do some work. Not saying that it can't be done. It's just not as easy to me.
  21. My original question never had anything to do with "does it sound like the original." My question is about an odd tonality issue that the models across the board have. Something that I labeled "hollow" even "microphonic". So when I said I could spot the real Tele with my eyes closed, I was referring to this, hard for me to define, sonic property that all the models have. Not "this doesn't sound like a real Tele to me". All the Variax models sound pretty darn close to the guitars it is modeling. Save for this mystery quality that I hear. You say they are missing "life". I call it hollow. I think we may be talking about the same thing here. Sorry if I wasn't clear. I too enjoy the models and the variety they afford. But man, there is this delicate instrumental that I play. All clean tones. Beautiful melody. But the model just doesn't cut it like my real Tele does. The two of them sound a lot alike when I'm strumming chords but when you are playing melody lines it falls a bit short.
  22. Yep! I agree. I guess what I was looking for was something like this…."Yeah T. I do hear a bit of difference between the piezo stuff and magnetic pickups. I wouldn't call it "hollow" though. To me it sounds (insert descriptor). This is what I do as a fix for this and I think it works really well." Some did offer a bit of help. I was hoping for a more robust conversation about the various findings that we have discovered in our hours of tweaking. Oh well. like you said. "It does what it does" Thanx for the patch! It works really well!
  23. Thanx. No doubt there is a lot to tweak with in work bench. It is a lot of fun. I am getting nowhere with making the spank model sound good though so I am going to abandon it all together. Besides, I have a JTV Strat with the mags that sounds great. As for the "something is just a bit off with the models" issue that I hear, it seems that it is only me who can close his eyes and spot the real Tele for example. I find that hard to believe but I am willing to accept that. But I must ask one more time for ultimate clarity...When you plug in and hit the model switch, all is right in the universe? The Spank model sounds just like a 1959 Strat and the Tele sounds just as a Tele should? There is no odd tonal quality at all that anyone else hears? It's all in my own failing ears? really? I'm not saying that I am unhappy with the models. I use them a lot. It's just that there is an interesting quality to them that does not sound like any magnetic pickuped guitar I've ever played. I only wish I had better more descriptive words for what I hear. C'est la Vie!
  24. I use it for recording bass. The Ampeg model is good for certain things but for the most part I use compressors modulation and delay without an amp model. You gave me something to do. I'm going to hook it up to my Fender Rumble bass amp and rock out for a while. I'll report my findings!
