  1. Right! That's the point. No one cares! I mean if the OP silently slipped into the ether, who here on this forum is going to stay awake at night wondering if he has become frustrated and displeased with his line 6 gear enough to drop $4k on new stuff? I know how many...no one. Because no one cares. Wrong. I respectfully but totally disagree with this statement. I personally have and will continue to express my frustrations with this gear if necessary. I've got long list of personal issues that frustrate me. But when I asked for help, there is a cadre of people standing by to offer helpfull tips and advice. You are going to get in return what you give on this forum and in life outside of this forum. If you are frustrated at falling short of nirvana and ask for help, then help is what you will get. Similarly, if you are frustrated at falling short of nirvana, and you lash out in a condescending, insulting manner, you're gonna be told how eff'd up you are. That's a gimme.
  2. One does not need to hang out anywhere day after day after day or track the posting habits of anyone or anything to recognize the OP's "potential" underlying meme. Being on the planet and interacting with people is all one needs to detect the words between words. Me using quotation marks around the word "potential" is all of the doubt benefiting I will afford the original post because I recognize feigned virtue when I read it, when I hear it and mostly when I speak it. As do a lot of people on this forum. People aren't stoopid and they don't like being treated as such and they recognize when someone is being even slightly disingenuous. Which is probably why the OP got the response he got. As for the benefit of the doubt? My motto is....Call a horse a horse first, THEN give him the benefit of the doubt. The OP was a slight against Line 6 and the good folks here who love their gear. Plain and simple! I wont participate in beating the dude up for it, but it is what it is! This is a discussion forum dude. If you contain yourself, then there can be no discussion! I dig your optimism my man! And you can party on my lawn all you want kid. The California drought killed that thing a long time ago! Just clean up your bottles and pick up your poop!
  3. oh come on now! "frustrated getting a tone" Just ordered a $4k system" "Adios Amigos"? And it is your contention that the only thing behind that post was to bid a fond farewell to the many close friends and inspired relationships he established in his time here on this forum? Come on man! More power to the dude. I hope he finds what he's looking for. But in the same time that he was issuing the readers of this forum an odd "adios", he could have issued a not so odd "Hola" over at the Fractal forum. He could have bonded with other disgruntled former line 6 suckers who now have seen the fractal light. He coulda been singing Amazing Grace! "I once was lost, but now I'm found, was blind but now I See!" Solo Digo Amigo
  4. Why discontinues something that is successful? Oh...maybe it wasn't that successful. Too many problems perhaps? Better off going back to bedroom jamming gear and leaving the pro gear category to those who have a better track record? Either way, it's a shame. I really like the Dream rig setup and I did look forward to a bug free next generation. Oh well.
  5. Thanx! This was one of the most entertaining threads I have ever read on this forum! It was like a cyber Jerry Springer type brawl! None of it was helpful for getting a good tone, sharing new strategies, optimizing our Line 6 gear. But it was entertaining! It was The Socs vs. The Greesers! (...We gotta do it for Johnny man!) It was the Dead Rabbits vs. The Natives (I think NucleusX would be The Butcher. No offense meant, The Butcher was a great character!) No...no...wait! It was The Jets vs. The Sharks! See for yourself Think Pod when you see the Jets and think Fractal when you see the Sharks!
  6. If you are playing with a band Play a song Get your level right Hit save Repeat
  7. Nice going Line 6 on the new front page of the web site. Gotta pump FireHawk. I get it. It looks good! My question is, why wouldn't have a guitarist using a JTV guitar along with a DT50? Or how about the new Variax Standard and a line 6 Spider or Amplifi? Seems like a missed opportunity.
  8. Let me see if I got this straight.... In this "Awesome sounding" patch that you have created, you have: 2 full model Marshall Plexi amps where you have control over: *Drive *Bass *Mids *Treble *Presence *The overall channel volume *Early Reflection *Master Volume *Sag *Hum *Bias *Bias X You have 8 different Mic Options You have 18 different speaker options where you have control over: *Low Cut *Resonance *Thump *Decay I won't waste screen space outlining the amount of control you have over the: *Hard Gate *Line 6 Distortion *Vetta Wah *Preamp EQ *Hall Reverb *Analog Flanger AND a Digital Delayy that is in your patch my man! And you are frustrated after ALLLLL of this that you can't squeeze 1 more effect into the chain? Really? Something tells me that even if Line 6 moved heaven and earth and made it possible for you to get that one more effect into this "AWESOME SOUNDING" patch you have created and are convinced that you must have.....you're gonna need 1 more slot, 1 more effect, 1 more controllable perameter, 1 more cab option, 1 more amp, 1 more..., 1 more..., 1 more....., THEN and only THEN will the Pod be worthy! The heavens will open and naked groupies will fall from the sky......ok, i have to admit, I like the naked groupie idea!.... Go over the manual one more time and really get with the amount of control and features your Pod offers you 'cause you really get a whole lot with the DSP that is available.
  9. I bet this is funny! Where the hell did I put my readers?!?
  10. Of course you like the FRFR just like you like this ridiculous font that no one over 40 can read without tearing the house apart looking for the glasses they need to help them find their readers! Here Hee! Just funnin! The Pod modeling is good, but it ain't THAT good! I'll take sound quality over convienance any day of the week.
  11. Try this one and see what happens. Couple o things I have Suhr Classic in my Variax and I have a Boss FB-2 in the Fx loop and this is optimized for my DT50. May be a good place to start. http://line6.com/customtone/tone/926942/
  12. Radatats, I think we have a very similar setup. I might have something close to this. Question, are you playing through a DT or an L-series?
  13. I agree! My DT50 sounds great now! Shouldn't have take as many trips to the repair shop as it has. My DT 25 is still under warrantee and will be sent soon. When you add the cost of shipping, this junk gets expensive. Maybe its the remnants of old school in me but the FRFR just doesn't sound good to me. I know a lot of people swear by it! So long as my DT's work, I'm sticking to them. It would take a GREAT deal of convincing for me to want to invest in the new DT50X or whatever Line 6 chooses to call it's upgraded DT50.
  14. A Lute is not a guitar...It's a Lute. Certainly a nylon or steel string guitar won't be mistaken for a moose. But I don't know my man...A couple of the harmonics from that clip might be able to pass as a screech owl :P I love heavy guitar! I like it more like this as opposed to what Santa Claus is doing that's for sure. What I was attempting to convey is whenever there is a "How do I get THAT tone" post, it's usually an uber processed "chuga chuga djent djent djent screeeeeech owl" metal tone people want. No one EVER wants learn how to get a Robben tone, or a Larry Carlton tone,, or a Scott Henderson tone or even a Jeff Beck tone who is known to process his tone pretty heavily at times. I guess what I meant by "a guitar that sounds like a guitar" is I don't play Metal. The tones I like and use are not processed like the Santa Claus tone. So I am always looking for kindred spirits out there who use less processed Metal tones and can throw me nugget on a more bluesy warm, round tone. For what its worth though...that Santa Claus tone is really good for what it is!
  15. Seems like there is an over abundance of people looking for this same type of tone out of their Pod. Anyone out there interested in a guitar that sounds like a guitar? I don't know....Maybe like this....... I'll take this tone any day of the week!
  16. No doubt that there are many creative ways to get these models sounding good. I have had success in making them sound fantastic for what I do. But could someone in the know please explain the thought process behind the default settings of these models? Are you guys at line 6 slapping each other high 5's while shouting "Nailed It!" on the muffled models? The silence from Line 6 on questions like this one is truly deafening! I'm not a hater! Just asking what I feel is a reasonable question.
  17. Good for you my man! Curious... How does Line 6 determine the base line for its models? So many of the models sound as if they are under thick blankets when you first down load them. I can imagine that Line 6 hears these muffled models and says "Wooo-Hooo! That sounds GREAT! Release that new model!" Why do some of them need so much tweaking to sound usable? Not all the models fall into this trap, but far too many do. What's the philosophy behind the boomy, bass laden, muffled models?
  18. You could try a Parametric EQ. Narrow the Q and sweep the frequency until you hit those "Thin" sounding frequencies then reduce the gain on that frequency. You can also turn up the bass on the eq as well. I don't use any hi gain amps. I'm only sharing what works for me in shaping my tone. It's worth a shot.
  19. Who you tellin'!?!?! You are preachin' the gospel truth! "When it works, It sounds awesome!" And yet so many of us struggle to keep this stuff working! At the same time many of us have no struggle at all. Which is even more frustrating! On the phone with my amp Guru, I explained what my problem was and that it was a Line 6 amp. His initial response was something like "Oh yeah, Line 6...We get a lot of those...." and "how much did you spend on it? The repair might be more than your amp is worth." Disheartening to say the least. After the repair, aside from telling me whoever it was that "serviced" my amp last had their head stuck in some orifice, he went on to say that it was the best made and sounding line 6 amp he has ever worked on. Nothing like what he was expecting. So what the hell does that mean? To me, it signals that there is a "there" there! That this attempt at high end quality for Line 6 is close. It ain't perfect by any stretch but this is beyond the poorly made bedroom jammer gear that Line 6 is known for. The fact that Digital Igloo (sorry bro, you are the one most often read on this here forum. Nothing personal) and others in the know, in the mix, on the inside, employees, have absolutely NOTHING to say about reliability is maddening! The fact that those Uber Line 6 forum Gurus have nothing to add other than "Oh, that problem you are having sounds sucky....Better open a support ticket..." is maddening! It's like they all deny that this is a real issue that deserves attention because they personally have not had a bad experience. (or at least they are not willing to share that bad experience!) We are either the most unlucky bunch of Line 6 owners who experience the same exact bad luck or we are all making up the same exact issues and have chosen to whine about them here on this forum. Neither of those make any sense. I am not afraid to call all of them onto the carpet when it comes to the intermittent workability of this Flagship gear! With that said....When it is working, I have never played a more versatile rig in my life! And because of that, I am not afraid to sing its praises! An interesting place to be indeed!
  20. I had my struggles with the Pod wah. So far, I only use the chrome custom wah in the pod. I bring the mix down to about 50% and it sounds pretty convincing. If the issue with the wah is the feel, and you like what you are able to dial in using the pod wah offerings, then a mission engineering expression pedal is a great choice.
  21. My Guru fixed the fix that Line 6 "fixed".
  22. Got my DT50 back from repair and it sounds fantastic! 'Member how I mentioned that I sent my DT50 to Line 6 in Calabasas because the amp would just die for no reason? This is what Line 6 told me: "Looks like the tubes were going bad. Normally there's just a 90-day warranty on the tubes, however we replaced the preamp and power tubes on your amp and rebiased them." Nice going Line 6! That's customer service! Also, 'member I mentioned that when I got my amp back from Line 6 that the amp now stays on, but now was this "windy" frequency noise through the speakers? This is why I took my amp to my local amp Guru who employs the pro Bogner gear nerd. I stopped by the Guru shop to play with some tube Delay boxes that he builds. My Guru comes out from the back and asks "Did you try to calibrate the bias voltage yourself? 'Cause you could kill yourself if you don't know what you are doing." I neither confirmed or denied that I ever tried to re bias my amp. Nor did I tell him that it was the Line 6 repair team in Calabasas who last touched the tubes. I asked, "was it close to being done correctly?" His reply....."No! It's all F'ed up!" Then he showed me 3 loose/bad solder contacts on the main board and a couple of other easy fix items. Watchu guys doin' down there in the Calabasas fix it shop?
  23. I realize that this is a gear forum so of course that is going to be the topic at hand. But I have never been one to wax poetic about a 1967 piece of gear. If you suck, it ain't gonna matter how old or how contemporary your gear is. You will suck no matter what you play through or with. Aside from this being a gear focused forum and we have fun talking about gear...a lot of energy is spent crediting it for masking us sound brilliant and blaming it for making us suck. For me, the day my gear keeps me away from sounding like me is the day I will move on. I don't see that happening anytime too soon. As for that 1967 whatever, is it really that f'ing amazing or have we just drank the Kool-Aid? I've owned and played those "classics" and aside from them smelling good when the tubes heat up and burn off the dust, my stuff sounds better! Primarily because it is me that is playing it! (I have never been a fan of false modesty. I'm a really good guitarist as are many on this forum) Remember, just because someone is willing to part with $$$$$ for that 1967 whatever is not a determination of value or quality for that matter. Nostalgia costs because that is what we are taught. I don't care what people think about my gear today and much less 30 years from now 'cause the proof is in what you hear. Have doubts? Let's take it to the stage! Be warned, you might get your feelings hurt!
  24. PRESS RELEASE – For Immediate Release Best-Selling Line 6 POD HD Multi-Effects Get Even More Powerful with v.2.6 Firmware Latest firmware meets key customer requests by providing access to new amp and effects models, and adding global EQ* * Sort of..... Not a big deal for me 'cause global EQ was very low on my wish list. But the difference between the press release and what actually got released is funny.
