Hope this doesn't violate forum policy, Dream Rig FS
Tboneous replied to NoelEiffe's topic in Line 6 Lounge
I guess the "issue" I am speaking of is the general reliability of the Dream Rig. I was responding to Chuckewheat earlier in this post who said "I found mine to be totally unreliable in a live performance situation and switched back to my old gear." I too have had reliability issues. For example, showing up to a gig and having the rig not work. Everything works at sound check and then dead at performance time and then fine again when I got home. Bad transformers were shipped in a certain range of amps, speakers are shipped with horrible rattles. When I purchase the top of the line stuff, I don't think it is too much to expect that the gear will work every single time especially within the first year of ownership. I purchased a $4000 Mac Book Pro. Totally top of the line. I have NEVER had one single issue. As a matter of fact, I can call them and have a tech sit with me on the phone and walk me through Logic Pro X at no charge, as often as I want. That is not special. It is what is supposed to happen when you purchase top of the line stuff. I purchased a brand new l2m speaker and immediately had to send it back to be repaired. My Dt 50 had to be immediately sent back for repairs. I am a fan of this gear and have no problem with it being digital. So long as it sounds good which it does when it works. I am a fan of the concept, and when everything is up and running, firing on all cylinders, everyone in the band says, "Wow! Your guitar sounds AMAZING!" Showing up to a gig and having it not work is completely unacceptable and embarrassing. I am not the only one who has experienced this and we are not all crazed Line 6 hater malcontents. I think that quality control and reliability are real issues with this gear and as for me, knowing that the minority of us are being heard, considered, acknowledged and that steps are being taken to address this real issue would really calm MY nerves. But that's just me! Once I get my l2m back and it proves to work, I'd like to purchase an l2t but the though of potentially having to send it back for some issue out of the box or to have it not work at a gig when I really need it for that acoustic part is hard to swallow. I hope that makes sense. I really do love my setup (with noted caveats). I want the whole Dream Rig. I want to complete my DT50 2X12 with a L2M handling electric guitar and the L2T handling my acoustic work. Then I want a DT25 for smaller gigs. I want the whole Stagesource PA system. I'm ready to purchase NOW! But I won't at this point cause so far not so good as far as reliability is concerned. -

That is fair! Line 6 recognized the transformer issue on the DT's. They made it right for those customers with bad transformers. Line 6 recognized the rattle that many of their L series speakers had. They made it right for those customers as well. I think that Line 6 should look into the reliability issue just as they looked into the transformer and the rattle. There are thousands of Line 6 users who experience no issues at all. I truly wish I were one of them cause I really like the gear! Kind of reminds me of the 1977 Ford Pinto. Over 3 million Pintos sold to many happy customers who never experienced a problem. The very few who had their junk explode in rear end collisions, I feel, deserved Fords attention, research & explanation. Just because those of us who are experiencing issues with our brand new gear/Pinto are in the minority of users, does not mean that our issues don't deserve attention research & explanation. Line 6 has the pulpit to put these concerns/pleasures into proper perspective. I guess they're just busy. -

Yes there are a lot of user experience voiced in these forums. But this would sure be nice......"Hello, my name is Linus Six, I am the grand pooba of quality control and product testing here @ Line 6. Many of you have voiced concerns about the reliability of of your line 6 gear, i would like to focus specifically on The Pod Hd 500, DT 25/50 and/or L Series speaker and JTV Variax also known as "The Dream Rig". We continue to strive to make the absolute best gear....blah...blah...blah...and your concerns are extremely important to me personally. We've conducted extensive testing of the Dream Rig components in an attempt to address the many concerns expressed by our loyal customers in this forum. Here are our findings"...... I won't hold my breath! -
What is LVM? What is the drive not doing? What are you expecting the drive to do?

L3m Has A Rattle Just Like The L2m
Tboneous replied to velok's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
I just purchased an l2m and it has the rattle. Line 6 sent me an RMA and i sent it off to be repaired. I want to purchase an l2t as well. Will I have to send it immediately back to Line 6 for repairs or have they fixed this issue prior to shipment to retailers? Can't I just purchase one that is already fixed so I can skip the shipping it back to Line 6 step? If so, where? -

would anyone from Line 6/Yamaha speak to this point? It is of great concern to many of us. -
HD500 with L6Link to L3t?
Tboneous replied to randychesbro's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
You may need to change your output settin on the HD. -
Does your l3m have the dreaded "rattle".
-
I have a 100 watt Bionyx amp that I can play in a condo. If it has a volume knob, you're in! Sounds like you already have your answer! Go for it!

Are you turning on the pod first, letting it finish booting and then turning on the L? -
If Using Direct Out in a Dream Rig, Do I Really Need the DT25???
Tboneous replied to kawititnow's topic in DT50 / DT25
Hmmmm…. I don't know… sounds like the "good" that an on stage speaker would do for you is put the fun back into playing guitar! Red hot glowing tubes, the magnets pols of the pickups, the heavy magnet of a celestion v30 and the vibration of steel wound strings creates a wonderful concert of sound and color that goes away even with the best in ear monitor. Crank your stuff up and tell the FOH dude to chill and make it happen. Robben Ford once said something to the effect of "If I have to turn my amp up to 10 for me to sound like me, then so be it!" and that is specifically because guitar and speaker interact with each other. I've got your back bro! If the FOH dude gives you any flack, you send him to this forum. I'll straighten his %@! out!!!! CRANK IT UP!!!!- 7 replies

If Using Direct Out in a Dream Rig, Do I Really Need the DT25???
Tboneous replied to kawititnow's topic in DT50 / DT25
A couple of thoughts...First, just for clarification, if you don't have the trilogy (Variax, a pod, and a DT/L-series Speaker) then you don't have a Dream Rig. Second, I am curious as to why you want to eliminate speakers from the stage? As great as pod is at modeling amps and fx, it can't capture the interplay between guitar and speaker. To me that is a critical element of tone. I would even argue that the L-Series speaker falls well short of capturing that interplay. Having your guitar signal routed through the Pod and sent to PA speakers across the stage without a guitar amp seems to take all of the fun out of playing guitar. Just an opinion for sure, but can you imagine Hendrix playing the Star Spangled Banner with his Strat plugged into a few fx and then routed to the PA? YIKES!- 7 replies

output mode: studio direct. Make sure you use pre models for the DT and turn off cab simulationTopology: Exactly what you said. L Speaker mode: Acoustic So far I only use this setup for acoustics and not full model electrics because the L speaker does not change modes. Once it is set, that's it! I'll be getting an L2T eventually and it will take the place of the acoustic work (the added eq will come in handy when tweaking my acoustic tone) and the L2M will handle my full model amp patches. One thing I've learned about this setup: You might find that you need a reverb for your acoustic and reverbs are DSP heavy. So try to keep your patches simple. Fun tricks: Put a rotory drum on the acoustic side and blend it in! Oooo La La!
-
Yes. I've done it. It sounds great! Input source 1 set to Variax Mags, input source 2 set to acoustic model on the JTV. Use a dual amp tone on the HD and lock the controls. Throw in 2 volume pedals to control each amp and Bada bing, you're in!!
-
This is what I have….JTV-->HD-->DT-->L2M. What output is recommended?
-
I'll give that a listen. So basically I should use studio direct as the output setting in this case. Just turn off cab and mic and use pre models for the DT and use full model for the L.
-
Better! My understanding is more basic than that. This is what I know...Studio/Direct is best used for head phones direct recording to DAW's and PA Speakers. Combo front is for plugging the HD into the front of an amp and stack is for the fx loop of an amp. So for example if I am using L6 link and combo/front output ( which I believe Line 6 recommends) it is not possible to effectively use full models through the L series speaker because the output selection is not on a preset basis but is a global setting. Studio/ direct sounds crappy through my DT and combo front sounds crappy through the L series but I can only choose one. What am I missing? Does that make sense?
-
I...well...um...er...What?
-
I read somewhere on this forum that when you link an L series speaker to your DT amp you can not only route your acoustic models to the L speaker but you can also route pre models to the DT and full models to the L. That last one is confusing to me. To my ears the the DT sounds best in "combo front" and the L series sounds better using "Studio/direct" since this is a global setting how can can dual tones be used that way? How is it that acoustic tones can be used on the L when the HD is set to combo front and they sound better on "studio/direct?
-
Do you use the pre- or full ampmodels?
Tboneous replied to tormod1's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
My go to is pre models when running my DT-50 via L6. I also don't use cabinet models or mic simulation. On single amp patches, I center the mixer and on dual amp patches I pan about 30% L & R. That's me trying to sound like me. If I am trying to sound like someone else, I might approach it a bit different. (But not by much I would imagine) -
Multiple Dt50's Plus L2t
Tboneous replied to u182155's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
I assume that the order to turn tis rig on is HD-->DT-->L2. Correct? I'm getting an L2M for acoustic sounds. Didn't think I needed the extra goodies offered on the L2T. Thoughts? -

The answer is try 'em all! Combo, Studio/Direct, Stack. Trust and use your ears. There are no rules in music, ask Zappa, or Funkadelic about that! FYI, you don't have a "Dream Rig". You need to add a Variax for that. -
Why? Why? Why? I don't have an AVR on my Mac. Mac works fine. I don't have an AVR on my Zoom. Zoom works fine. Don't have an AVR on my Two Rock. Two Rock works fine. Don't have an AVR on any digital, analog, mobile/portable/stationary, hybrid or homogeneous gear I own and all of it works fine every single time EXCEPT my DT50/HD500/JTV69 aka Dream Rig. What gets my hackles up in this conversation is everyone has a "Fix" that you have to purchase to make this "Flagship" gear work! Why is this ok? I recently purchased the biggest and baddest Mac one can get. I would be really pissed off to learn that I have to purchase some other piece of gear to get the F'ing thing to turn on! Who would purchase a "top of the line" anything only to find out that you have to purchase something else to make it work right? Again…Why is this ok? For me, It's Not Ok! The gear is not that expensive. I've paid more for a single guitar than my entire Dream Rig. But because this gear is not as expensive as some other gear, does't relieve Line 6 of the obligation to provide working gear. It is unconscionable that there are so many users who are reporting the same issue and there is no remedy, no answers, no input offered by Line 6 other than "open a support ticket". When the gear is working, it is amazing! I am ready to purchase 2 L2t's to take my rig over the top. But I won't because so far, this Dream Rig has proven to be completely unreliable and why would I want to muddy already murky waters? I so want to be a Line 6 fan. I want to slap these boutique amp fanboys in the face with my Line 6 gear. The same gear that these fanboys have written off as "Lame" "Cheap Chinese made Crap" I want to crank it up, drop the Variax into a DADGAD turning with a the simple turn of the knob and break into Kasmir and then click a button and head into a beautiful version of the Rain Song on an acoustic 12 string leaving my fanboys with their jaws hanging open! That's hard to do when this junk won't turn on! And NO…I don't want to have to run to Radio Shack looking for AVR to get it to work either! but that's just me….

Success! The rig did its job! I turned it on and it worked. Ive owned this rig well over a year and This is the first and only gig I have done with this rig where I didn't have some unexplained snafu! That's a sad statement in and of itself. No way in hell should that be the case for anyone who droped their hard earned money on the table to purchase this "Flagship" "best sounding" "most advanced guitar rig in the world" (those are Line 6 words, not mine) let's not even mention the hours spent tweaking this rig as it sounds like crap out of the box. I look forward to the day when the pain from my first year of Dream Rig ownership fades into the ether of distant memory. That can only happen when successfully gigs follow successful gigs. Last nights gig hopefully is the first step to a journey of trouble, free worry free, hassle free gigs! The rig sounded Fantastic! And since this is a band that features me playing balls out bad booty guitar, IT BETTER!
