  1. I think good tone starts with the guitar. I usually like to have a fair bit of volume from my guitar, at least at 8. That way you get the pick ups actually doing their job. The tone controls on the guitar make a big difference also. Again start at at least 5 and bring it up from there to taste. This is all very subjective I think. You can also radically change the tone using the amp bass, mid, and treble knobs, as well as the eq in the app. Then of course there are effects with eq settings as well. Whew no wonder it's hard to get a good tone happening. Sometimes less is more, no?
  2. I don't think that would work too well for multiple amp models as the same volume and gain levels can sound radically different depending on the model used. It might work reasonably well for amps of a similar design.
  3. Ok, I will answer my own question. You can't. You can assign one parameter to one effect and control it with the fx knob on the amp.

Having said all this, would it be possible to program midi commands thru the usb to change amp models and turn effects on and off for a live performance?
  5. Hello my friend: I had the same trouble David, only I was using the fvb express pedal. It seems like the amp is getting confused with info coming from the app and the pedal at the same time. When I close the app the pedal works fine. I don't know if this is a bug they can fix or not, but if you want the pedal to work, just close the app. You don't need to control the amp using both anyway, right?

    You are correct silver head.
  7. Thanks for the tip stratman999. By the way I play a strat too!
  8. Hello friends: I am new to the forum and the amplifi but I have figured out a few things that may be frustrating other new users. The online tutorials only go so far, you need to figure some stuff out for yourself. You should follow the online video instructions on the Line6 website to update the hardware ( that means update the amp itself) This can be done from the amplifi app. Don't assume anything. Take the time to follow the instructions exactly and you should be good to go. After you have updated the amp you will see 25 banks of 4 tones each in the amplifi app. Let me be very clear about this: These tones can be heard only if you use the app and amplifi together at the same time. They are only accessable from the app not the amp. If you close the app or use the amp as a stand alone unit you won't be able to access them. So How do you get your custom sounds onto the amp? 1.Go to the line6 website and navigate to the Amplifi help videos. Watch the line6 tutorial on how to create a custom tone. 2.Go to MY Tones in the app and highlight your tone. 3.At top right of app window you will see that Save to Hardware is now lit up 4. You must load your tone onto bank 1 A 1B 1C or 1D only. (if you want to access them without the app) I wrongly assumed that bank 25 user A B C and D were the places to load tones. This is fine if you are using the app and amp together, but if you want the amp as a stand alone for a rehearsal or performance, you need to load bank 1. What about the FVB EXPRESS MKII pedal? I'm so glad you asked. Again, the pedal and the app don't work together. End of story. Use the pedal to change up the tones on the amplifi only when you are not using the app. The pedal works fine for tuning, volume, wah wah, and changing up the four loaded amp tones on A B C D respectively, and tap tempo for modulation, and delay effects. What if I want to turn effects on and off with the pedal? For that you need the FVB shortboard pedal. Roughly a hundred bucks more than the express pedal. There is all kinds of documentation on Utube. Poor man's stomp box using the FVB EXpress pedal. - This is my own solution to turning effects on and off. It has the drawback of using only one amp model for the four presets. - Pick a favorite amp and set it up with a clean tone. - Copy and save the amp into a new tone location in MY TONES with your chosen effects. I made one with clean, clean with chorus, clean with stomp (distortion pedal turned on) and clean with delay. I then loaded the four tones onto the amp at locations 1A 1B 1C and 1D. Close the app. Don't forget that part! Hook up the express pedal and use buttons A B C D to go from clean to chorus to distortion to delay. I hope this can make life easier for a few of you. Best of luck and happy pickin'.
  9. Thanks for your thoughts gentlemen. I have the amplifi 75 and the pod Hd400. I also have the fvb mkII EXPRESS pedal. Here is the dilema... should I use the pod hd thru the aux in on amplifi, (this would allow me to turn effects on and off, have 128 presets and a looper) or trade the express pedal for the fvb shortboard? With this I could draw power from the amp instead of a wall socket... but I would give up the looper too. Is this splitting hairs, or is there a real benifit to one over the other?
  10. I seem to be having trouble finding info on how to assign effect parameters to the expression pedal. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Thanks.
  11. My 75 seems to be in stereo to my ears but the speakers are so close together it is hard to notice. I believe the dry signal from guitar goes thru the middle speaker and the stereo effects are thru the left and right pairs of speakers. Also it sounds very good with head phones and the separation is noticeable. If you have the equipment, use the phone jack to hook up in stereo to a PA system and see how that sounds. That's my 2 cents worth.
  12. Use the fvb express MKII pedal. It's neat. It has a built in tuner, four channel select buttons, tap tempo for delay and modulation effects, and a volume and wah wah pedal. From what I can figure, the Fx100 is the amplifi without speakers. The Amplifi fx100 does give access to many more amp sounds at once. But let's be real, how many are you gonna use at one time. The fvb does the job for me at about 1/3 the cost of the fx100. You could set up four amps on A B C D channel, One with clean sound, one distorted, one crunchy, and one with delay or chorus. Use your imagination. Then you have a poor man's pedal board. I love it.
  13. Re: your question. Has anyone had experience with the fbv express mkII and the amplify ? Is it a worthwhile purchase ? I am a recent owner of the amplifi 75 and the fvb express mk II. I find it to be a great little pedal for the amp. It connects to the amp using an ethernet type chord so it can draw power from the amp instead of another wall socket. The wah wah and volume pedal are quite handy of course. You cannot turn individual effects on and off with it but I found a partial solution. I designed and loaded four of my own presets to the A B C D channel. They all use the same basic amp but one is clean, one has distortion pedal, one has chorus, and the fourth has delay. Now It acts like a pedal board and I can just change channels to select what ever sound I need. Hope this helps.
  14. Yes I am happy with the amplifi 75. I had back surgury and can only lift so much weight. This little package I can handle. My wife loves the headphones. lol. To the nay sayers I say.... come on , 200 plus effects combinations and amp models? How can you not love that. When I started playing almost 50 years ago, one could spend untold thousands to get a fraction of this amp's capabilities. This is a great product for the price. NO it is not perfect, nothing is. Enjoy it for what it is.... a great little amp with terrific features at a reasonable price.
  15. Hello balimusic. I had same issue. I have the amplifi 75 and the FVB MK II pedal. I don't really know much about what makes the whole thing tic.... but I have found a partial solution. It seems to me that the amp gets confused if you are trying to use the pedal and the amplifi app on your ios device at the same time. I load the tones I want to use for my session then close the app. Now the pedal works fine when I do that. You might have to shut the amp down reconnect the pedal and start up again after loading your tones to the amp.
