  1. I may have an epsi(my spare)loaded with tons of IRs for sale...
  2. I might be wrong, but I believe the ownhammers(at least) have mics and power amp choices. But yup, no cab recording or eq.
  3. You might also want to consider a Logidy Epsi, it will allow you to load IRs and it's stereo(I just go mono-I think Torpedo is stereo) and it's cheaper, about $200 new. I, like many others, was hating my tone and all the work and tweaking... and was ready to sell my HD500; until I used the Epsi. As many agree, the cabs seem to be the weak point. Once I had the Epsi, it was so much easier to dial in what I wanted. No fizz, no weird, loose bottom end. I have the Epsi in my effects loop, that way all my outputs on the HD500 have the IRs. I go through an Alto ts112 and have one xlr from the HD500 go to the house. I did a few clips a while back, maybe it might help. This was my original patch before I got the Epsi https://soundcloud.com/alphadog808/original-jcm800-patchno-epsi Then the patch with the cabs off and Epsi on https://soundcloud.com/alphadog808/jcm800-patch-with-epsi-on Then I took another forum member's patch and this is his original, no Epsi https://soundcloud.com/alphadog808/joel-no-epsi Then I removed his cabs and added the Epsi https://soundcloud.com/alphadog808/joel-epsi Note, it's not really the Epsi that makes the difference, it's the IRs that do. I was using Ownhammer ones, but I can't remember which one. Hope it helps. Oh, and I think one potential downside of the Epsi is that you won't be able to change cab IRs per patch. It's more of a choose one IR and roll with it. Doesn't bother me, but some users want one IR for clean, then one for lead, etc. I think the torpedo will allow you to change IRs on the fly.
  4. Well, I checked last night, one was set to RF2, the other one is older and didn't blink so I think that's RF1. I changed the other one to RF1 and we'll see if it gets better...Thanks for the heads up.
  5. Hey guys, I have a G30 set up and it's been running fine. So well, that our bassist got a G30 bundle as well. Even though we were on different channels(I was on 6, he was on 1) I noticed that when I walked past him while he was playing, it would drop out. I think we temporarily remedied it by making sure that when I walked by the bassist was closer to his receiver than I was. But shouldn't this not matter as we are on different channels? Note, the dropout happened 3 times...always when I walked past him and his receiver...
  6. Alto TS112A...I use both left and right inputs, but I just have the same signal on both channels. Chose it due to price range and stellar reviews from others. That coupled with an epsi sounds miles better than my previous am setup.
  7. I have a ts112a with my HD500. It sounds great and isn't too big/heavy. One thing to mention...YMMV, I wasn't getting enough volume with one 1/4" cable going to the alto...so I did 2, one from left and one from the right on the HD500 into the alto...now it's loud...and sounds good :)
  8. Yah, I used to have it before the amp. it was harsher. It's more...integrated, less harsh, almost airy now. Then again, I have an epsi after it, so that might make a huge difference.
  9. I dunno man, whenever I use other people's patches, I'm super disappointed. :( But in a nutshell, I'm using the divided by 9 amp just with some break up and then a tubescreamer after the amp....Tone on the TS is pretty high but the treb and lows are about 50%. Gain is about 65%.
  10. Thanks for the confirmation...I guess I'm not crazy! :D Hurg, I have an Epsi in my loop, so the cab emulation is actually after the pedal...It's like...static around the notes...but it's kind of in a nice way? Hard to explain.
  11. Hey guys, Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried putting a drive pedal(TS) after the amp in their chain? As weird as it might seem, and you'd never do it in a real setting, I tried it the other day, and man...it sounds great to me. This was for a higher gain blues thing, like a SRV/John Mayer kinda thing. It's weird cause you can really hear the clean side of the amp and also the gain from the pedal at the same time. The only thing is that I noticed that there is a...kinda fuzz around the sound, so you don't get a really smooth tone...just wondering if anyone else has had success doing stuff like that...
  12. Weird, I thought the same thing, but it didn't affect my rig. Then again, I did have guitars set for both inputs.
  13. I also had this problem. Using the pad switch(on) fixed it for me. I guess my Seymour Duncan JB was too much signal for the HD500...
  14. Please let me know if you get this resolved, I also has/have issues with feedback at higher volumes. I've done a lot if testing, and I noticed that using the pad switch and distance from the amp helped the most. I am running in line mode and stack mode on a hd500.
  15. Try running some 3rd party IRs...it will take away all the fuzz and tighten up the tone. I was never able to fully dial out that fizz without it.
  16. Throw a tube screamer in front and blue comp w/treb in front of that to give extra sizzle...?
  17. Thanks Rad, I appreciated it. It's weird, adding that second amp makes my single amp patch sounds more...organic or something. I guess what really blows my mind is that apart, they don't seem like anything special. In fact, in one patch I have, separately, both tones are pretty thin. But together, it gets pretty fat! What is confusing is I'm not sure what the formula is so it's been alot of trial and error between different amps, some pre, some not, etc. And that's before changing any of the amp settings! So much freedom on this system, but at the same time, so much rope to hang yourself with...
  18. Hey guys, For a while now I've been ignoring the fact that you can use dual amps as I figured I had enough issues/problems getting good tones with one amp. :) I recently revisited it the other day and noticed that you can get some really nice unique tones with dual amps. What I've been doing is adding a second amp but at a much lower gain. What I notice is that separately, the amps don't sound that great/different, but together, it has some synergy that I can't get with just one amp. Kinda cool. Not sure why/how this all works... Does anyone have any tips on working with dual amps? Also, I assume the mixer will merge the amp tones together? I ask as I only use signal from one output.
  19. Hmm...I dropped the level on my effects return from 10db to 6db and the squeal is much less/better. This is with zinput at 1M and the treb back in...and the alto at a scary high volume(to me). I wonder if having the loop return so high was causing it. My other thought is to just put the epsi after the hd500 to make life easier... The tubescreamer tip worked for some of my patches(or close enough), but I have a grit one that I LOVE that I can't duplicate without the blue comp treb. :(
  20. Hey thanks for the tip, doing that brings the sizzle; took the compressor out of the chain!
  21. The gate(both noise and hard) cut the squeal, but anytime there is a stab, you'd catch the backend of the squeal. I dunno, without it, it just doesn't feel the same under my fingers and it definitely doesn't have that sizzle that I was digging. I'm going to keep digging...
  22. Hey guys, I was checking some of my patches at high volumes and I notice that I was getting uncontrollable feedback when using the blue comp treb. In a nutshell, I have the blue comp treb->Tubescreamer->JCM800. I noticed that if I change to a different comp, the feedback goes away. Normally, no big deal, but I like the sizzle that that pedal brings. :( IIRC, even diming the treble on the line6 comp or the amp didn't have the same effect. The only way I can keep the blue comp treb without feedback at high volume is if I turn down the Zinput to 22k. But when I do that, I lose the sizzle as well. I get the feedback with both inputs set to guitar or one set to variax...and the feedback happens on more than one guitar. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas? Note, the feedback doesn't happen at low to mid volumes. But at gigging volumes, it does. I believe the amp gain is about 60ish and the tubescreamer gain was about 80.
  23. I've had mine both in the loop and after the hd500. I ended up going through the loop as I wanted to be able to use any/all outputs on the hd500. I'm very unfamiliar with IRs; I just load one type-a mono version. It can work with stereo as well. Afaik, there is no editing of the IR through the epsi. There is a rudimentary hi and lo pass filter and volume, but that is it. I think if you can modify the IR how you want it separately then load it up as a wav file you'll be good.
  24. No problem, glad I could help! I didn't want to say the epsi version was better and skew your opinion, but I too thought it was pretty obvious off the bat. Easy to tell the difference.
