That's about the most un-inspired custom shop design work I've ever seen. Must have taken up a good couple of minutes to scribble out !?!?! Right click....Copy as something new ??? Tell everybody what it ain't and now there's a mad rush to get our eyes checked. Looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, but NOOOO duck here! :P   !!!! Seriously, we're gonna have to see one first. If it's well made it should be a good deal, but time will tell. With all the price drops on the JTV's being offered.... it seems the value of our used gear is plummeting downward as we speak. I paid $1500 for my 59 before they came out with the rebate and price drops we see now. MSRP was $2099.Maybe if we all wait long enough we'll be able to get a new Pacifica, oops i meant Standard, for $399 soon ! B) IMOHO I never thought of any L6 guitar as expensive. Other than the American made models. It is-was the cheapest one I have ever bought but I still find it to be a good, not great, guitar that I would buy again. Kylling It

If I remember correctly, in an old post from Psarkiasan @ L6 it was said that the guitar worked best with 10's. Lighter strings vibrate in a smaller circle than heavier ones do and sound thin on the models-piezo's, IMHO, although they allow for a lower action height. Remember to go through your entire set-up when you change string gauges as it will change everything to a degree, intonation etc. The string volume issue is a FACTORY defect with the firmware as answered here. I've got my 59 set-up so it plays well on the mags, but when I kick in the modeling.....well it sucks.... I'm looking into the string windings on the bridge ramp issue but any other tips/help would be kool. It'd be nice to use the strat model without it sounding like I'm a killing a cat or sumthin'. I really haven't heard much from the slide crowd here, so speak up! Kylling It

There's a great article in this months Premier Guitar magazine that has a lot of info on set-up called "Ten to Zen". Lots of info so you can do your own the right way. Answers w/pictures......what could be better?!?! I get the online magazine for free every month by signing up at Sweetwater.com, or Premierguitar.com, for everybody that likes a freebie. Kylling It

I sure don't see any ranting in the OP's post. More like a long time faithful customer who really likes L6 gear, shucks they've had several variax's,used them all the time as their main guitar, and is disappointed that the support has left the country that they live in. I would like to read the letters that you'd write if you woke up tomorrow and found out your closest "ME & ED's" repair shop was in New Zealand now. Also take time to remember that people from lots of foreign countries, different age groups, religious backgrounds, and different genders are forum members also and their posts and concerns are as valid here as yours are. I'm not even sure that the OP is a HE ? It's like Momma said, "Say something nice or constructive, or don't say anything at all". I've found that still works, even today. Respect to All, Shawn

Thanks for your reply. I'm all good with it. I just kinda felt that NOBODY likes to be told," Don't let the door hit you in the arse on your way out". Things get blown WAY out of proportion here. If we met in person, we'd all get along...... Get the same people on a forum, and we shred each other at every chance we get. Go Figure........?? Peace Back Silverhead Shawn Still Kylling It

It's funny how things dissappear from this forum and nobody will admit anything. Your post had the good-bye statement, where's that ?, and a negitive vote from another forum member on it. Now both are missing ?? Then you added the" Hope you enjoy your next guitar". Either yourself or a forum moderator removed it or edited it. That's the only possible way that it got changed. Either way isn't exactly honest. I wasn't trying to start a fight or anything....Just thought we could try to be more polite and civil to each other, not crass or callous as it's so easy to do online. When did some manners and class go out of style ????? Shawn Kylling

L6 link from PODHDPROX into L3T's issue

YUPERS-------Stereo Lt3's......that's the way to do it! Good info +1 from me Silverhead&Colonel That's the way I've had 'em hooked up with no problems.... Kylling It -
That, plus it's more versatile. I can break it down for solo work, acoustic, small venue stuff. Add a speaker for 2 or 3 person groups or medium size venues or use the Lt3's for P.A. alone. Mike one up for harmonica or vocals. 2 Lt3's are PRETTY loud and were more than enough for outdoor use onstage at the county fair with a full 5 member band. I play 4-5 times a week and this seemed to work out best for the varied situations-settings I'm in. Heck, I even play at the farmers market just to get free produce ! Nothing is perfect, just the best all round compromise I could come up with that works for me. But then again,I'm sure not getting rid of my good old gear anytime soon. Kylling It

Ghost notes in Drop tunings
Guitarkyller replied to clay-man's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
? You win........I quit moving on -
I started out with my 59 a little over 3 years ago and at first just plugged it into my old set-up. I didn't think that worked very well with the modeling, the acoustic's were terrible, but the drop tuning worked great, so I took the plunge toward " The Dream Rig". To make a long story short, I went through both a DT- 25&DT-50 combo amp, neither worked out for all the reasons we know. Now going FRFR with 2@ LT3's, the pod, the M20 and a Peavey monitor it all seems to have come together finally. The only problem was with one of the LT3's and that's all good for now. I'm not sure if I was to stubborn or just to stupid to quit on this set-up, but the end results were worth it. Been trouble free for about 18 months and I use it all the time. Get a lot of comments on how good it sounds too. However, if it starts crapping out again I'll have to take a long hard look at my commitment with it. Just the cost of shipping it around makes it unreasonable to keep getting it fixed. The only thing I'm working on now is to get a good slide set-up to work with the Strat modeling. It's been interesting to say the least. Damn Piezo's Axe Murder Inc

Ghost notes in Drop tunings
Guitarkyller replied to clay-man's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Dude, You've posted ALOT of stuff here on the JTV threads for a long, long, long time now. Tech, repair,set-up,tone patches, evaluated the guitars, etc. Most of it was made to sound like you owned one or that you were an expert on everything JTV"s, including Workbench HD . Now that you have one though, it seems that you were caught by surprise with, and I quote" Everything that can go wrong with these things". One would have thought that with your vast knowledge on the subject that you would have been better prepaired for the task at hand ! Now if someone teases you a little about your "What the heck is going on here???" statements, your offended...............??? Some actual experiance will go a long way one would think. Once again I apologize and I hope you like your new guitar. Axe Murder Inc. -

I can't even figure out which side of the fence yer on there Clay-Man!!!!!!! You thought that the Variax's where "GOLD" until you actually got one. Now you're returning one 'cause you where unhappy, but you're still not satisfied with the one you have??? You might ask for the returned one back??? Now the crosstalk doesn't even qualify as a concern either. Now you didn't expect them to work perfectly but you bought one anyway???? And after all, you knew it was your palm muting that was causing the problem in the first place. Now it's not Line6's fault that the alt tunings don't work properly, "it's matter of physics". Then you close with an opinion of poor quality control by Line6 LOL!!! LOL!!! LOL!!! You could write soap opera scripts if the guitar thingie don't work out for 'ya. Come-on!!!! Don't take this seriously.....it's just a observation on my part....take it with a little humor. as intended Remember, You can sit on the fence, but you can't sit on both sides at the same time. What's REALLY funny is, that you LOVE something that has proven to be so UN-reliable ?? :( Been through the same dance myself with the DT series amps. Went FRFR and then had the death rattle from one of my L3t that also had to go back. Got it exchanged through Sweetwater thank God.............. Add the fact that Line6 can't seem to repair their own stuff , and one can understand the bad rep that gets stuck on their products. It's really a shame, cause when it works, it sounds awesome, but the frustration  is a bitter pill to swallow, as noted users posting here. Glad mine is working for now but am keeping my fingers crossed. Axe Murder Inc jtv-59 hd-500x 2@Lt3's
