To me this would be an excellent learning tool.. benefits far outweighing the disadvantages. I newbie could post a patch, asking for feedback. Another member could download it, listen, tweak and resubmit it. Saying something like "it sounded good, but with my set-up, I added a parametric eq and boosted the lows a bit and it sounds better". Of course people have different PU's, monitors, amps, etc. People usually already know to take that into account. My experience, however, is that a good patch through humbuckers and an FRFR rig will still sound pretty good on another guitar with humbuckers and a different FRFR rig. It may need a little tweaking but not much. Regardless, the way Customtone is set up now leaves NO mechanism for feedback other than the star rating, which is pretty nonspecific.

My Variax cable is very flexible. Line 6 probably gets their materials from different vendors, thus causing the differences.

Do you mean it would cause trolling? I could see that but the trolls are always out from under the bridge in threads, anyway.

Yes. I guess I am envisioning each CustomeTone page to be like a thread, where people could comment on the original patch, and even tweak it and upload the changes into the thread.

forum members being allowed to comment or make tips/suggestions on Customtone uploads. It would help newbies learn the ins and outs of tone seeking and would improve the user experience, IMHO.

After it is posted you can add comments and edit some of the info.

Thanks Duncann. Yes, the BPM is being saved correctly. I was initially having trouble with that but discovered how to adjust on the unit as you say.

^^ That's how I have been doing it. I saved it half a dozen times and it still is happening.

I have a patch with the Optical Trem effect on, tempo sync set to 1/8 notes. Every time I open the patch, the trem effect is extremely slow. It seems like its set for one cycle over 8 beats, instead of 8 cycles over one beat. So to get it right, I have to change the tempo sync to something else, then go back to 1/8 and it works fine, until I change patches again. Any idea what may be causing this and how to rectify?

If you can't find a bag that fits everything, I would try a two or three bungee cords to secure the HD500 bag to your guitar bag.
