Remember the old days when something bad happened to us, we could rely on ourselves to fix it? I take issue with GoFundMe in general, not OP specifically.
-
Thanks, but I don't want something like that. I want a simple on/off pedal that emulates a clean amp. I've been looking at Milkman The Amp pedal, but it's suuuuuuuuper expensive.
-
Can anyone suggest at convincing clean amp emulating pedal that I could tack on the the beginning of my board full of individual pedals? I have the helix, which is super dope, but I've also got a board full of analog pedals that I would like to continue using. I'm looking for recommendations on a fender style (or vox) emulation pedal similar to Wampler Black '65 Overdrive or that kind of pedal. Just looking to see if anyone has tried any that can recommend one over another. Looking for full, "bell like", clean tones (or as close as you can get using an amp in a box). Set up would be guitar > [Amp Pedal Here] > analog pedals > tube power amp > guitar cabinet. I figure a forum full of amp modeler guys/gals would yield the most reliable information regard amp emulation pedals. Thanks.

A GoFundMe.... for stolen music gear? Anonymous begging does not sit well with me.

You're welcome! Mooncake is incredible. You should check out Snarky Puppy if you like the band with full orchestra sound. Their live album Sylva is mind-blowing.

The band is the wonderful Mooncake out of Russia and the song is Dimension of Miracles. You can really hear the tone Im after at 0:16 and even better at 7:58. I see the guitarist plays some sort of brown fender amp and what appears to be the Classic 72 Telecaster deluxe. I have been trying to reproduce that big, strong, "bell like" tone that he is achieving, but I can't quite get it. His tone seems more "round" and solid and 3D than the tones I am creating. Plus his tons have some overtones or something that ring along with each note he plays. I come close to the actual tone, but not the punch and clarity and roundness. I'm not sure if it's some combination of compressor/boost/EQ/Amp Setting that I'm unaware of. I know it's possible in the Helix (all things seem possible with the Helix), but I can't quite get there. Placater clean gets me close, the fender models I have tried all sound flimsy and hollow and without attack and presence in comparison to the tone that guitarist gets. I can get tones that I like (and even LOVE in some instances), but I would love to add that beautiful clean tone to my arsenal. Has anyone been able to get this "exact" tone? If so, would you be kind enough to share you tips. I play a Fender Telecaster Modern Player - (Maybe a guitar upgrade would help) into the Helix and out the headphone jack into Audio Technica ATH-M50X headphones. I also bought the OwnHammer CoreTone Bundle for some additional speaker options. If any of that info helps.....

Ok.. you said three different things here so some clarification is needed... Effects, Channel, Preset... Which are are switching? (What is a Channel?) If switching presets: If you switch presets and and the new preset does not have the same looper set up, the loop will stop. Both presets need to have a looper and I believe they must be the same type (6 Button or 1 Button).. correct me if I'm wrong anyone. If switching effects: Make sure the looper is after all effects that you want included in the loop, otherwise when you turn them off, the loop will continue, but without effects. If you have overdrive after your loop and you turn the overdrive off, your loop will no longer have overdrive on it. If switching channels: You are playing through a real amp... not a Helix.

Thanks. That definitely got rid of some of the boomy-ness. I think it may just be the pickups in this guitar. When I'm on the neck pickup, chords sound like a blown out broken speaker or something... all ragged and muddy... that's the only way I can describe it. I have had some success by using a higher gain amp and turning the gain waaaaay down to get smoother chords, but that's very CPU intensive. I play ambient/post rock...ish stuff so I don't do the really high gain stuff. Mid-gain at most. I've got my clean sound set anyway... now time to work on overdrive.

No info, but I just started using the kwb today. That into the Fender Bassman model produces some of the most well rounded and dynamic low gain leads I've found in this unit. It's heavenly. Now if I can just find a drive that doesn't produce flubby/wooly tones when playing chords (neck pickup of Fender Modern Player).

Ever since Placater Clean and Archetype Lead, I've not had a need for anything else. Those two are incredible. Best Channel1/Channel 2 pair I've used.

I have bought several custom cases from this guy. Reputable and always satisfied. Highly customizable and suuuuuuuuper high-quality. https://www.bradycases.com

I would like to see a way to toggle MIDI PC commands and LED's Example... Helix --> MIDI --> Source Audio Ventris The Ventris is a really great reverb pedal, but my eyes are not great and standing up playing, it's hard for me to distinguish which preset is active if the reverb engine LED's are close. For instance, Hall and E-Dome are right next to each other. If i have Hall with a short decay and E-Dome with a suuuuuuuper long decay, that can cause some issues if I have the wrong one activated. I see in the Command Center.. there is CC toggle.. Dim LED={SomeValue} Lit LED={Some Other Value} and you can toggle in between these two values to make something happen So, CURRENTLY on the Ventris I have a light room verb on preset 1 and a washed out verb on preset 2 and two footswitches on the Helix to send PC1 and PC2 to switch back and forth between them. This works fine except there is no visual feedback on the Helix to tell you which preset is activated. Those huge light rings are a godsend to someone with poor vision like me. So something like this... LED is dimmed, its on preset 1 on the Ventris... Click the footswitch on the Helix which toggles and sends PC2 command to the Ventris and actives the LED ring. Click the footswitch again and it sends PC1 command and dims the LED ring. Is that possible?

I've never heard of Allan Holdsworth before. This is awesome!

It boots up in ~4 deep breaths. So just breathe and get ready for sonic joy.

Yep, that got it. Thanks! This Helix is simply amazing.

Hello, I have a Helix and a Source Audio Ventris reverb pedal. I have midi hooked into the Ventris. I can assign a footswitch to send MIDI commands to change presets on the Ventris without difficulty. My question is this: When I change presets on the helix, it automatically changes presets on the Ventris... this is fine, but I wanted to know if there was a way to make it automatically go to a SPECIFIC preset. Example: If I'm on preset 1A on the Helix and the Ventris is on Patch 0 (first preset) and I switch to preset 1B on the Helix.. the Ventris goes to preset 1. I would like to make the Ventris automatically go to any preset that I determine. So if I switch to preset 1B on the helix.. the Ventris goes to preset 100, or 20, or 5... etc. I have looked in the global settings and preferences, but I do not see a way to do what I'm asking. (I have not looked in HX Edit) If this feature is not available, how can I turn off the automatic PC message that gets sent to the Ventris so that I can control it manually? I still need the Midi hooked up so that I can access all of the Ventris presets.
-
Welp... color me intrigued. That's brilliant. I was looking for a small form factor midi pedal to accomplish the same task. It never would have dawned on me to try what you're suggesting. That method will be implemented as soon as I get home.

This has probably already been asked and is buried in this post somewhere, but how about more control over the number of snapshots when in snapshot/stomp mode. I like using stomp mode and having all my effects at my disposal to easily turn on/off...... I only need 2 snapshots.. one for clean amp and one for dirty amp... I put them on different paths and then go 100% A on clean and then 100% B on dirty amp. In this configuration I essentially lose to footswitches. I know that I can just assign effects to turn on and off with those other footswitches via two additional snapshots, but that adds quite other annoying level of complication to each patch. Beyond this (and the new way the 6 switch looper operates), the Helix is wonderful.
-
Wow... How did I not even think about a snapshot? One of the more powerful features in the Helix. Your 3rd suggestion sounds exactly like what I'm looking for. This will save me sooooo much hassle. I really appreciate it.

I have an A/B split right before two amps in serial. I would like to be able to set a footswitch so that when it's not engaged it's 100% A path and when it's engaged it's 100% B Path. Is this possible? I know it's possible the expression pedal, but I cannot get it to work with the footswtich. I should note.. the reason I want to to this.. I could easily set it up so that amp 1 and amp 2 share the same footswitch (one is clean and the other is dirty), but it's very easy for the bypassed/engaged light change.. just by touching the footswitch. Then you have the red circle led around the footswitch lit up when amp 1 (clean is engaged). So you go to hit a distorted chord thinking amp2 is engaged (lead amp) and it's actually clean. So i thought just keep them both engaged and A/B between them.

Well.. that makes things waaaaay easier. I appreciate the info. -
Attach Helix to pedalboard with feet still on
JeremiahEdward replied to JeremiahEdward's topic in Helix
It's a Helix lt. I don't actually see any air vents on the bottom..... Maybe I'm missing something? -
Have there been any proposed working (and hopefully simple) methods of attaching Helix to a flat plywood pedalboard (Brady Case flat board)? I did a search on the forum and it brought up 153,000+ topics, with either the words "Helix", "attach", or "pedlboard" in it. Quite honestly, I'd rather be playing helix than going through them all. Thanks!
-
I noticed Zzounds even raised the price on their customer returned equipment. They had a returned helix that the price went up by $100. So strange.
-
Don't get me wrong, I never said I felt slighted... I've just never seen the price go UP like that on a well established product. Strange days... Also, I SWEAR MF, Amazon, and American Musical were selling at new prices last night!
