  1. My 4th JTV-89F (Korea) - 23 March 2015 batch from Yamaha Europe (NEW - SEALED BOX): You'll have to trust me that this was the actual batch date (an older batch, possibly the same as the 1st), you'll have to trust me on this because it was labeled-over with a white-sticker for whatever reason. It was difficult to catch what otherwise was underneath still perceivable directly to a human eye (I'm certain of mine in this case), when looked at it close enough (isn't captured by the picture [only 5 MegaPixels of a relatively meh phone-camera]). You can, however, clearly see the same batch label info (this on is the zoom of the left part of the sticker label: 6.5 KG and 2 out of 4 of the total - I left it un-annotated intentionally): See the similarities (beneath) as the 1st one's sticker label: There would otherwise be NO good reason to deviate from the procedure of leaving the original shipping label (from Yamaha to the dealer) readable, just like the previous 3, other than perception deception, just in case the return of the previous 3 had anything to do with it, or their shipping dates have risen my expectations. Neither of these reasons were relevant to my decision. I just want a GOOD NEW JTV-89F! That aside, this one, based on my unfortunate experience with the previous 3, (this one) I didn't even test any further than the first cosmetic-issue yet definitely to me (in this context) an ominous sign! The bottom corner of the Pickup Selector seemed simply burned/botched/whatever/not-good (irrelevant later: the 'cap' of the Pickup Selector seems removable by design (based on the same thing being the case with one of the previous 3, and my 5h), except depending on the push-force they used, not every shipments' Pickup Selector 'cap' is as easily removable as the other): Its original photo: - https://www.dropbox.com/s/zc9un0owohy070q/2015-08-19_19-59-53_732.jpg?dl=0 Its original photo: - https://www.dropbox.com/s/9ntssuyo2byilhp/2015-08-19_19-59-44_48.jpg?dl=0 So based on a no-good = no-tolerance, out of my previous ordeal consequential mentality, I didn't even open the accessory boxes to test it any further, thus even less than the previous 3. If it had this visible flaw, what else did QC just dismiss? It's a NEW SEALED BOX! FULL PRICE! This one also, but instead of 3 strikes, it's '4th strike' out in a glance.
  2. My 3rd JTV-89F (Korea) - 5 August 2015 batch from Yamaha Europe (NEW - SEALED BOX): I'm sure everything else might have been fine with this one, but here I'm focusing on the reason for its return to the dealer as well. The issue wasn't as bad as the first 2, but it definitely didn't make me feel at ease with it, to depend on it for the next 5-10 years. There was a marking under the Nut, that was unlike the 2nd one (the middle of the Nut position for placement was marked with a pencil, I was able to erase that mark away), this one I couldn't erase. It was also unlike the 1st, that didn't have any marking on the Maple Neck at all. So this 3rd one made me worry that there was (a beginning of) a crack in the Neck under the Nut (possible shipping damage, but most likely wrong marking 'technique' because of the exact coincidental position as the 2nd pencil marking), where I presume the most tension is placed on. So in the context of my misfortune with the previous 2, I did not take any chance on this one at all: Its original photo: - https://www.dropbox.com/s/xqs4zcfhqijkxct/2015-08-15_01-55-25_78.jpg?dl=0 Also there was some of a Headstock finish-issue/-damage at a worrying position, that suggested that it might have been subjected to rough handling after all. I've treated all of the guitars I've tested with utmost care; treating them like glass, never letting the Body touch the ground, never-mind any other part! So for this and the above reason, this was a no go: Its original photo: - https://www.dropbox.com/s/1ea8rftxsl49xlm/2015-08-15_01-59-35_49.jpg?dl=0 EDIT: corrected image URL + clarity.
  3. My 2nd JTV-89F (Korea) - 7 July 2015 batch from Yamaha Europe (NEW - SEALED BOX): Main Good point in comparison to the 1st one: it was electronically branded correctly; recognized correctly by the Workbench HD: Bad (main reason for returning it to the dealer): A DOUBLE Alternate Tuning Nob! THIS failure COMBO that undid all of the good work put into this particular guitar shipment as well. Instead of the Modelling Nob and the Tuning Nob: Its original photo with timestamp tag etc..: https://www.dropbox.com/s/n9f9o8bv87nevur/2015-08-05_02-20-28_502.jpg?dl=0 Its original photo: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7a1w9mj4jakyllg/2015-08-05_02-07-47_403.jpg?dl=0 EDIT: clarity.
  4. So I (still) have motivations to get a good JTV-89F (2013 model); from the start (in July) I took a loan from family for this. This is an overview of the particular shipments of this guitar I received/tried, and are returned to the online dealer within right-to-return-period. The various reasons are in the respective Posts; the first 2 most problematic, and the latter 2/3 just plain clumsiness, I guess, in the manufacturing process in Korea ([Yamaha] Line 6 contracting 3rd party? Or a branch?). In this case at least, I've been thoroughly careful throughout my testing process with all of these I've tested. I've more to add to this Thread/Topic, but I've to be OP before I can add to it: 1. My 1st JTV-89F (Korea) - 23 March 2015 batch from Yamaha Europe (NEW - SEALED BOX) found in a different/initial Thread/Topic (no need to move it), short list; reason of return: 1.a. Electronically not branded correctly. 1.b. Alternate Tuning nob: 1.b.1. Partially reversed Tuning Preset positions! 1.b.2. Partially unexplained Tuning Preset positions. 2. My 2nd JTV-89F (Korea) - 7 July 2015 batch from Yamaha Europe (NEW - SEALED BOX); reason of return: 2.a. A 2nd Alternate Tuning Nob instead of the Modelling Nob.. 3. My 3rd JTV-89F (Korea) - 5 August 2015 batch from Yamaha Europe (NEW - SEALED BOX):; reason of return: 3.a. A possible (beginning) crack in the guitar Neck, but most probably a reckless position-marking for the placement of the guitar Nut; based on two indications/evidence-points. 4. My 4th JTV-89F (Korea) - 23 March 2015 batch from Yamaha Europe (NEW - SEALED BOX); reason of return: 4.a. An ominous QC possible oversight or simple dismissal, even though cosmetic; I'll not test it any further. It's over. Next. 5. My 5th JTV-89F (Korea) - 14 August 2015 batch from Yamaha Europe (NEW - SEALED BOX - making a case for this one's return as well) The main reason I wanted and still want a NEW one, is mainly for its warranty/ease-of-mind! Because if this was not NEW combined with the right dealer, it would have been a no-go/impossible/un-doable/lollipop/poo-eating-contest time. I might have considered eating lollipop/poo just to get a good one in return.. luckily, it doesn't have to come to that. I've not even gotten to the FW and SW improvement wishing. But one step a time. I still [partially] support (Yamaha) Line 6 for its pioneering and continuing innovations and inventiveness (in my view anyway). I'm sure everyone's negative experience in anyway brings shame to their brand, something they definitely don't standby idly and do nothing about. Communication lines, however, are just overloaded; a lot is going on with/from everyone everywhere. So I'll push for the changes that 'serve' me. If it helps anyone else, it would be a bonus. EDITs: expanded + addition + clarity.
  5. MEME TIME !!!! !!!! huh.. ME ME time? Just watching the steam.. not the gaming platform. My newbie brain can take only so much.. You're both right? Try the equalizer solution/workaround/something.., video yourself playing it (your hands and the guitar in view), COUNTER-prove that you did your part, and tried the Line 6 Staff's suggestion. Yes please @MiroslavKloud. EDIT: nobody else is seeing what I'm seeing up and down this Thread/Topic? Am I missing the point? Where is my blind spot? I need some sort of optician-eye-glasses.. EDIT2: at least a Line 6 Staff member is replying; better than nothing.. now we can go around in circles, together. EDIT3(2015-09-02): instead of their original sources; re-hosted the images on Dropbox just to be sure they remain.
  6. (there was a lot of weird text-markup, including and sometimes , both text-markups aside) I notice you've corrected the [Yamaha] reference for me (instead of my [Yamah] initial typo). Thanks. I'll keep mine as it is for future reference. I'm also critical of the Firehawk FX; don't let my partial support fool you. My crude-mobile notes however need prioritization and refining, and I also need to put some other things for myself in order. And if I lose my notes, I'm sure I'll encounter the same problems again, and make new notes. The real content of your post however, is worrying, nonetheless. In the words of a Line 6 Staff: What are the chances that Marcus Ryle stands by idly and watch and let that happen to Line 6? - http://line6.com/company/executiveTeam/ Although Google Search shows Paul Foeckler as CEO. Was he before? EDIT: aaah, I guess he's the Yamaha one; the 'final boss', so to speak.. Screenview: (need to be logged-in to view). I'll add other versions later, maybe. EDITs: correction + improvement + clarity.
  7. I know I wrote a lot, and I remember that you told me via Youtube that you're dependent on an online presumably automated translation service, yet know that the linking style you're using (even though you did use links as well this time) these links will break if the name/title of the Thread/Topic changes. Here is the code and the links in a more dependable way, feel free to use the code and remove the spacing to activate them in a new reply: Post #237 / #entry112445 Post #252 / #entry112738 Feeding 'code' : [ post=112445]Post #237 / #entry112445 [ /post] [ post=112738]Post #252 / #entry112738 [ /post] Prove it: No point arguing. EDIT: effectiveness + correction + clarity.
  8. My apologies for my late response to this thread, despite having read these all quite a while ago; regardless, I appreciate all of your feedback. All very interesting feedback.. indeed. I'm sure I will, at some point. It was one of the reasons for my purchase. My point currently is: why should that be the exclusive/only way? I'm not the only one (perhaps I'm just one of the most recent ones, whom?/who?/anyway..) that wishes for an (improved/more-content-specific/attuned) sharing-platform for Variax-guitar-Patches as well, beyond just Forum Topic Post Attachments, and links to dispersed 3rd party hosting; but rather in terms of 'Tone'-matches more sophisticated and versatile like the Firehawk FX Remote App + Back-end Cloud (Private Accounts + Public Repository). Like it (EDIT: it or relevant products; should instead of would) automatically suggest and upload song-specific guitar-Patch right into a guitar-custom-bank/slot-preset (more options might logically become available overtime), in the (far) future. It's not technically impossible. If you've not experienced that ease (even though the SW is not quite there yet) you won't understand the need I'm referencing. It's like having experienced all of the benefits of electricity, and after getting used to them (when it suddenly becomes a commodity), can you afterwards go back to (accept) living the 'stone age'? I've a lot of difficulty in such a 'worst-case-scenario'. I'm not disrespecting the status quo; I'm pointing at unseen (and possibly unforeseen) frustrations, not mine alone; it seems. And I'm being critical; not sure if my standpoint is reasonable enough. Btw, your suggestion, for instance, doesn't take into account the Model/Patch of the JTV-89 itself, to be loaded into itself (or the JTV-89F, or any other assumed only HD-capable-Variax for that matter) for the then usable Alternate Tuning capability with the high-output-model (that was one of the interesting feedback, not that I can do anything with it, currently, but certainly useful.). : THANKS! I recall it from someone else mentioning it, your confirmation helps a lot. I appreciate these facilities (and more recent clarity about them) as well. And at least one of you seems to share my frustration (way ahead of me), yet also (with everyone's help) made the best of it and improved the situation, over relatively a very long time. Recent developments in cloud-computing and other areas (perhaps including presumably increased [Yamah] Line 6 DSP-/V-guitar market-share) should lead to improvements, eventually, in this regard. It wasn't a straightforward process to find or safely assume on my part, to say the least. I've different motivations; maybe at some point I'll talk about in a relevant Thread/Topic. That motivates me not to wait 2 years for the HX-based Variax Guitar (FW), because I don't need the Variax guitar signal/sound improvements to learn within the Variax versatility (+convenient acoustic [++]) context. Yet that increased processor-power (dual-core, in the guitar as well as the Helix [not sure about type and frequency difference]; according to a number of Line 6 Official Demonstrators, if I remember and now deduce correctly following this:), might allow HD-capable JTVs + 2015+ Variax Standards' to be future HX-Variax-guitar-Model/Patch/FW-compatible. Just like the jump from FW v1.9 to the 2.0 HD 'realm'. We will find out by the end of 2017, maybe? : I've not being 'following' my [nor old nor new] friends for a very, very long time; although I understand your point. I need what I think I could use well, learn and enjoy, now. But that's for a different Thread/Topic imo. It doesn't stop me from imagining and 'contributing' to the future. The frustrations felt now, are better put into words, now. EDITs: improvement + addition + correction + clarity.
  9. A suggestion: why not link-to/upload/etc.. a POD HD500(X) Patch (containing the relevant equalizer settings 'pre-set') that you think would improve his (EDIT: guitar's) sound? Just for the relevant test-case-scenarios. I believe there is also a language barrier, until the musical one manages to bridge-it-over once again. Working with non-textual (but contextually relevant) digital-files that contain each one's intent and knowledge, seems much more effective and possibly more efficient. Only if you have easy access to relevant gear/Patch-search-engine/etc..
  10. Also be sure to have read the following (if you don't read the actual edited forum posts, but only the original e-mail notifications copy) It's a warning worth a double post.
  11. Basic end-user life-mistakes. That's exactly the reason why your battery might have died in the meantime (within the context I mentioned; it shouldn't have if Li-ion/recent JTV supplied one). And combined with some reason why VDI powering isn't working, could mean that you would be missing a troubleshooting step if you would not check the state of the battery. Preferably connected to your Amp not POD HD500X; we want to separate the possibly faulty components. But if connected using a 1/4" to your POD500X with a checked battery level, it would be a good test-case-scenario. That's clear; remember it's for troubleshooting. Colors might represent some of my mood swings, but it's mostly content-relevant. Everything is green now (EDIT: as regular field-grass!) ; wheeee.... Except Line 6 equipment is letting you down
  12. I confirm related noise using both (VDI patch cable + 1/4" audio cable) connected simultaneously to a Firehawk FX, BUT these signal outputs work fine (no additional noise) when connected separately (1/4" to a standalone Line 6 amp, in my case) yet both simultaneously/at the same time (in the context of that separation). The signals from the 1/4" output is a minimal signal meant for an amp in the first place, how could it draw a 'power-level' that would be on the edge of overloading the Variax 'mother-board'-circuitry when used simultaneously with a VDI signal output? But it's not impossible, since it is afteral sensitive electronics, and every bit of power would help. I think when the Modelling is turned on, it then does 'relay-power' in the form of a digitally produced signal (but actually analog output, to work with any amp, so it's converted with a digital-analog-converter, most presumably). But when using Magentic Pickups, it shouldn't be using the digital circuitry at all, otherwise it wouldn't be even working if for the Magnetic Pickup signal it needed any power with a regular amp. Just thoughts. EDIT: Except if the electromagnetically generated string-vibrations-carrying Magnetic Pickup(s, selector dependent) signal, if that little-'bit'-of-electricity is a part of the digital-circuit-board 'bypassing relay mechanism' (if that's needed for that); in that case I don't know what to think, my brain is going tilt for now.. Staff's relevant input will be highly appreciated by all end-users and interested parties. EDITs: clarity.
  13. Good to know you've good alternatives and the HD500X isn't letting you down, especially with other guitars. EDIT: But that doesn't exclude the possibility that if a short-circuit took place inside the Variax, that the POD HD500X VDI 'electricity relay' part could have been fried with it (since you 'never' used the battery, so probablly if anything happened while the Variax was on, it was electrically connected to the HD500X through the VDI-related-circuitry). If you have not tested that HD500X with another Variax without a battery, powered through a VDI, you wouldn't have proof that particular HD500X is still capable of powering a Variax. Further speculations and probabilities aside. EDIT#?: Also, beware that if you (plan to) test another Variax with that particular POD HD500X through VDI without any final conclusion about your JTV-59, that particular POD could fry your next Variax as well, if the next Variax isn't grounded either; that is still based on an assumption within this reasoning. Just imagining relevant worst-case-scenarios in this regard. The following might be silly of me to keep repeating, it's just a formality to be sure in writing, but you still have not given a written explicit impression that you actually are cognizant of the status of the battery: And the following isn't about that or other gigs anymore, since you've already repeated that you've alternative guitars at your disposal. It's about the troubleshooting steps. Is there any signal from the Magnetic Pickups through a 1/4" cable(tested working with your other guitar); it's not about whether you're interested in that or not, it's about any additional clues about how much of the Variax or what exactly is broken/non-functioning. Every bit of relevant feedback helps. EDITs: correctness + clarity.
  14. lollipop/poo[again](my bad this time), I should have pointed out based on the other user's feedback that you could just then push the 'axis' of the nob to test it, before raising the nob permanently; how are you going to remove the added material? Is the raised nob 'action' still tactically ok? Not too high now? EDIT#? (I've copied a 'redacted' version of what could still be the case from what I understand, I also understand how this could be exhausting with a relatively exhaustive overview): Because otherwise.. The Variax 'digital durability/lifespan' should not be lessened by less, nor non-use, nor the reverse (24/365x10) use for that matter (that would have even been slightly more possible [maybe], like GPUs on laptops often with Desktop workloads that just poof..). ... Common (?) to all Line 6 Variax guitars including all of the JTVs? Or specifically common to all of the JTV generation guitars? And that didn't happen; he wrote that he tested with 2 VDIs. Can you by the way turn off the modelling from the POD? I know through VDI with a powering unit should be able to turn on Modelling (I've only some experience with the Firehawk FX unit), and I read(past participle) somewhere that with a POD you can specify whether you can use magnetic pickups, or piezo, (the following 'is/was' in disagreement somewhat between Staff and a Member, non POD function: both mixed with settings through the Workbench HD) or 2 separate signal paths simultaneously, so it should mean that Modelling could be turned off instead of just using the magnetic pickup signal in the POD patch despite whether Modelling is on or off, since POD powers the guitar anyway (although the power saving would be for the environment). Referencing: ...
  15. He actually needs Soundcloud for being able to comment within the 'waves' to clarify in that context. So it doesn't have to be one-style for all. He could make a complementary video to make the test-case-scenario even more clear and comprehensive within different contexts, if time, current skills and circumstances allow. EDIT: added the post he replied to.
  16. I think I get it, but.. something is wrong with that sentence man.. "hey guys" simple things make you seem like a noob (I've extensive experience with that elsewhere for [at least] ~2/3/5-6/7[?] years (online, and perhaps my entire life everywhere), me BEING the n00b), so I'm trying to embed your video here:  "My FAVORITE :-)" (EDIT#?: it was well put, I guess, but I'm not sure what it really means) - https://youtu.be/N3PEzrnEONo?t=54s Vid embedded: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3PEzrnEONo&t=54 EDIT#?: Being embedded here on line6.com/support/topic/... makes the original statement starting the vid suddenly technically untrue  BUT what you mean is clear. And also, from the start before embedding, Line 6 was saying that that's how it's supposed to sound like (based on a different [test] music/sound-clip/track though, right?); so again, technically Line 6 stands by their current (HD) modelling on www.line6.com. Might become a part of the 'team-spirit (re-)affirming technical and political loopholes..' Based on what a few other users said, HX-based Variax-guitar FW (possibly only for the then recent Variax guitars) might really improve things when it's end-user-ready by the end of 2017? If that has anything to do with it. Default Youtube embedding format doesn't work here, like: <iframe width="853" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/N3PEzrnEONo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> You can, however, use the "Media", "Special BBcode" icon (hover on it to see description), third from top-left, next the pencil-eraser icon in the 'Full Post Options' (paraphrasing). I suggest everyone bring specific vids and playback positions to everyone's attentions here, otherwise the feedback will be fragmented and won't reach the target audience as easily as otherwise. "Special BBcode" "Media" 'code' formatting: [ media ] Youtube/media URL (specific 'playback position' seconds count will be ignored, use a normal link to further specify, you might want to use a Youtube comment as well) [ /media ] (without the space between start- and end-tag-character [square brackets] ) Perception management is a lollipop.. (oh, it's not a poo reference this time, it's the word originally meant to reference a female dog, instead used to reference an aspect of humanity; I'm not sure why that word was ever used for that, oh well, it makes describing the reference easier :P ) And I'm no pro, no lollipop/poo[again]; I don't care <_< I'll keep my 'unsightly' references to a bare minimum. We will see. I support (Yamaha) Line 6, however. But I'm full of, criticism.. EDIT#?: Also, about: It might be bothersome, but linking to the actual post/text/etc.. might motivate others to actually read what you're referencing, like Post #237. Here is a way I found to easily reference posts, that is impervious to failure due to (future) changed OP-thread-title/name (not sure about [future] changed Domain Name or the like): "Special BBcode" "Post Link" 'code' formatting: [ post='PostIdFoundAtEndOf#inURL' ] PostDescriptionOfYourChoice [ /post ] (without the space between start- and end-tag-character [square brackets] ) PostID in bold green: line6.com/support/topic/6764-do-you-have-the-same-problem-with-6th-string/page-6#entry112445 Didn't go through the content, so green is just to point out it's safe I guess? Of course, I'm still figuring things out. EDITs: content corrections + addition + post-processing + clarity.
  17. Here is where the inherent limitation of the Floyd Rose design became apparent to me, with my short but relevant experience with 5 JTV-89Fs of which 4 are returned back to the (guitar) shop. EDIT#?: This reply started as well intended feedback for you, but since it was based on partial read of your post, my reply became an overview for newbies, myself among them. Not many around here, but with the Variax Standard (2015) I'm guessing Yamaha Line 6 is trying also to change that, if they claim it could become the only guitar one would ever need. 1. Only use the tuning machines for big winds (new string installation), or drop tuning physically if temporarily or for whatever reason preferred over Model Alternate Tuning 2. After you lock the Nut side (if it wasn't, or you physically drop tuned heavily) of the Floyd Rose guitar neck, you should use the Fine Tuners (a super feature of the design I found out after I got the 3rd one [irrelevant for the reasons I sent the 4 back]) see the position of the Floyd Rose Fine Tuners: - https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Floyd_rose_pro_parts.jpg (What this overview misses, is the adjustable string height section; makes changing the height easy, it is a definite plus for me) 3. ACCEPT THE FACT; (EDIT#?: I thought, and still makes sense to me, if no one gives more specific feedback how it's supposed to work)that because of the Tremolo (even though truly Precision System) it seems physically very difficult to have ALL the strings physically in tune SIMULTANEOUSLY even if Fine Tuning each one individually for hours! Because, as you Fine Tune one, some others become slightly b/Flat often because the bridge pullback force is taken over most by that particular string, sometimes the others become slightly #/Sharp, never the actual b/Flat or #/Sharp note, just slightly. BUT I realized, that as I fret to test notes, they're mostly on the #/Sharp side, even though the string I'm using is on un-fretted strumming/pick slightly b/Flat. That's in retrospect physically logical, because I'm increasing the tension when I press the string down. So for instance on the 12th/2dots/~middle fret of the guitar, if the string is originally/non-fretted (slightly) b/Flat, it will be perfectly in tune on the supposed note on that fret. So I've my peace with the fact that it won't ever be perfect, non-fretted and especially fretted dependinhg on the fret location, but that it will remain in tune I had it physically at, despite using the Tremolo Arm to the max, and that's the main feat of the Floyd Rose licensee Gragh Tech one, plus its other mechanical conveniences. The combination with the Variax Modelling and Alternate Tuning allows so much more freedom while having the best features of it always there to make the experience much better rather than being limited by its limitations for a big set of use-cases. 4. If you're referencing also any kind of Alternate Tuning ambiguity despite that particular string being perfectly in tune, THAT my friend, seems a bigger story, and I will elaborate my part later, because I'm, really, really, really tired. 5. If my experience is wrong, and the physical tuning issue is actually caused by the Graph Tech (Floyd Rose licensee) specific Nut 'design'/production (used) for the JTV-89F (Yamaha) Line 6 guitar, then I'm disappointed. And even more disheartened with the tech. But I will work with the status quo of this guitar. I'm not going pro anyway; I've a different motivation. EDITs: grammar improvement + content correction + clarity.
  18. I assume also that POD HD500 is working fine with your other guitar(s). Because up until now either a meantime-faulty battery or non-functioning 'electricity relay' from the POD HD500 could have been the problem, from what I understand anyway. You also have not indicated that you were cognizant of the charger blinking LED interval (short=faulty; check its manual), nor the charged-level-indicator on the back of the guitar. But if you suspect some parts of the digital electronics has been fried, the only thing that comes to mind that could have happened: Because otherwise.. The Variax 'digital durability/lifespan' should not be lessened by less, nor non-use, nor the reverse (24/365x10) use for that matter (that would have even been slightly more possible [maybe], like GPUs on laptops often with Desktop workloads that just poof..). Do you mean even if his JTV-59 worked fine at least once before, the "failure mode" could happen to any Variax especially the JTV-69 guitars? Referencing: Although posts are out of order: Although the following is a comment in another thread:   Not the point. You know your stuff, or worst-case: you don't while someone believed you, and either-way you don't seem to know it all, either. Or he's talking about ~2010 JTVs? Pre-HD-capable (if that has anything to do with it; it shouldn't since its a the type of 'relay mechanism' used to either bypass, be part of the dual signal through the VDI, or mix the magnetic pickups' signal(s?) with the piezo+Modelling at-first-6-separate-digital-signals[right? or is it analog from the pieze that goes through a converter and only then through the Modelling output signal is from a digital production source?] before being eventually 'merged' (both magnetic pickups signal and digital merged signal then 'merged' as 1 signal path containing the mix) thus essentially both are ON simultaneously or is the magnetic pickup signal routed through the digital production source and not just simultaneously 'relayed' [that wouldn't make sense though, could be an unnecessary move, right?]? Of course @psarkissian (I quote: "Line 6 Staff" so I'm not cognizant of an assumption on my part) is right about a possible insinuation (or my deduction, or whatever these words really mean and I'm misusing them unknowingly) that a user could never get the digital Model Alternate Tuning capability produce synchronous notes, that are the same with the physical string tuning if these are not 'routed' through for instance the Standard (no change/alteration) Tuning nob position, designed as it is now, without any 'wizardry' on the part of the user or service-center (unlikely feat for any at this phase of technological development present in the guitars; I'm no different). But anyway, if the other users are right (I've not double checked), then that means that part of that statement is untrue, based on the feedback alone. But this is 'purely theoretical' on my part. I don't have the needed guitar equipment combo, to test this, although I do have some time. But I digress again -_- EDITs: layout + some grammer + post-processing + clarity.
  19. Seems easier on the JTV-59 models according to Pickguard On Jtv 59.
  20. How about using headphones in that combination (don't know your amp), to test it, if you really need to try to get something out of it by tomorrow? 1/4" to the HD500 should work as well, if it's the fault of the VDI connection (not cable, since you tried 2, so unlikely to be the cause). For the magnetic pickups at least (you know it doesn't require the battery nor VDI, in fact, to be sure, try it without the battery nor VDI). Is it worth trying to see it possibly recognized by Line 6 Monkey or Workbench HD? (1/4" jack in good for that + volume nob not off) EDIT: clarity. Also, it might be wise to actively call for Line 6's input by opening a Support Ticket, since a staff member declared in another thread that this mainly is a user-forum and staff help when they can and deem necessary. Also especially since there is a normal expected lag of a few days between moment of ticket submission and Line 6 Support feedback. Also, did you check the battery level indicator on the guitar after you charged the battery? Because "no battery ever put in guitar" could also mean that your battery has died in the meantime (but the charger actually also has to blink with a shorter interval if that were the case, now that I think of it), (also) although unlikely for Li-ion batteries, which should be the one supplied with the recent JTVs. Because it might be another complication (blind spot) in this situation. Also, you're sure it's not your POD HD500 volume nob/setting, could it? It would explain no sound at all. But that's too much of a rookie mistake (unlikely) and too coincidental with non-functioning-LEDs.
  21. I can't help you with this out of my head. But I presume you mean by that, that the Modelling doesn't produce/Model the sounds, not just LED problems (not common, if ever with these). Pressing the Model nob should make a mechanical audible sound. But do you perhaps also mean that the magnetic pickups are not working ('relay' switcher or the like doesn't work) either? Because VDI should allow the guitar to pass-on signal from the magnetic pickups without Modelling turned on (has to be specifically turned off), nor needing any power (whether empty/no battery, or dead power 'diverter'/'receiver'/'source'). "All good" might mean those parts do work. Feedback about that, and as you know trying the charged battery (EDIT: also with the VDI USB interface with a computer), also a 1/4" cable if normal signal isn't passed-on via VDI; all these steps will help (you and Line 6) clarify and isolate the faulty component or next steps, if the case, or what the actual source of the problem is. EDIT (including some improvements): I remember something about the JTV-59 not having been equipped with a grounding cable internally or the like (could be visible if there is an opening at the back)? If the digital electronics is at fault, and I'm not mixing things up, it could be relevant. My 1ct.
  22. I realize this thread isn't formulated as an explicit question. The implicit one could be "Can anyone help me fix it?". But if you mark it as "Answered" (you can for instance choose an existing post for that) it will at least seem much less ominous. For instance, I was already scared of flashing, after a slightly relevant negative experience with the process. But going through your post scared the lollipop (lollipop? really Line 6?) out of me in terms of whether I should ever try to (re-)flash any Line 6 product in the future. Bricking a Line 6 equipment despite doing everything (well, almost; a connected Link shouldn't matter imo, if designed friendly enough, or technically possible) by their "book" with all of the ideal [controllable] factors??? Me Angry. Its effect on me is not your fault anyway, but that's not my point. The green "Answered" icon that will appear next to your thread (also in the list), will go a long way in reassuring that everything in this regard at least has been well sorted. Deleting is never my favorite choice. Unless I become uncontrollably psychotic; in that case there is no sense in explaining what the lollipop (it doesn't seem that I will soon get used to this auto-string-replacement, it's just poo reference for [relatively acceptable] free-speech's sake!) I was talking about; so posts will then disappear with an apology. But I digress. -_- Evidence (of an occurrence) is always your friend (normally), in my experience. I try to keep some track even though not always publicly raw. Also you might want to use their MD5 tool to check the FW files before using them, something that I will definitely do each time from now on. The tool can be found with the drop-down-menu-item "No Hardware Required": http://line6.com/software/index.html I wish a pleasant experience for everyone with Line 6. Tricky complications; I know.. <_<, but in terms of possibilities and potential, Line 6 has no contest. Their implementation process (including contracting 3rd parties), however, has yet to someday become perfect enough. That's hoping at least for all involved. ^_^ EDIT (including some addition earlier): PS 'God' has nothing to do with it, imo. That notion is also bad for my predisposition to delusions, among others; to clarify my standpoint.
  23. I'm going to use a double post because the size of my previous post and this one (both posts together would be too much), to update and close this issue on my part. Basically it wasn't a ROM issue (this particular one never could be in retrospect, otherwise anyone could change their guitar model by loading that FW, so it was: ;in the factory ([south?] Korea [contracting 3rd party? or a Line 6 branch?]). I opened a support ticket for the feedback gist I quoted above, and simultaneously sent it back to the shop, and the last Line 6 support feedback was at 6 August. In the meantime I gained a lot of experience with various productions of this model, and figured a few things out, also how to reproduce the 2nd issue clearly with the actual relevant setting, also with a contrast (not really a workaround), which I will get into at the following topic:My (incremental + messy) 'Review' - JTV-89F + Firehawk FX. So I also found out based on the working of the other productions that the Alternate Tuning nob of this particular one was connected in reverse: Baritone was Model, Standard was Drop Bb/flat, etc.. and visa versa, so also for all of the other options and their counter-ones from the end side. In retrospect makes sense, since the Standard Alternate Tuning measured wasn't like the standard tuning of the magnetic pickup. So basically I'm not sure whether they can fix it, or weather someone else bought it as alternative stock as-is for a (possibly significantly) reduced price. But I did my part. I'm done with this particular production. The support ticket and conversation (most recent reply upward, take some time to open after downloading) is attached. Here is their feedback (most recent-to-oldest downward): (I asked whether removing the registration would remove the ticket, he said it doesn't, and it didn't, also they don't remote 'debug' nor remote analyze) Entire attached ticket (goto full post [also need to be logged in]): 260669-html-only.html EDITs: some small addition and layout.
  24. Line 6 Korea manufacturing QC (Quality Control) is inconsistent, but yet consistently undependable..

  25. I don't think I understand what the implication(s) of that could be.. But both the 4th and 5th test tracks were of the T-Model preset patch with the Model Tuning nob set on "Model". And that weird thing that happens to it when at certain pace going upward from string #1 to #4, happens on both the shipped FW (v2.10) of the JTV-89F and the latest (v2.21). On the side: the Model Tuning nob when set on "Model", then the first issue (4th test track) happens intermittently and unpredictably despite which preset Model/patch is active. But I suspect that is just my faulty shipped guitar in combination with the latest FW (v2.10 didn't have that). I attribute it also to the similarity to your previous JTV-59 with perhaps other faulty electronics' symptoms (perhaps related to why it's being recognized wrongly). Anyway, that's my current 2ct.. EDIT: plural instead of singular + typo.
