  1. Good plan, all signs point to that not being too long a wait.
  2. Just wanted to follow up with you on this. I have been unable to replicate your bug. So far I am seeing nothing out of the ordinary with snapshots but the expected copy & paste behavior on my device. I have the Helix and not the LT but they should behave the same way. I am wondering if this is only happening on specific presets or all of your presets? If so maybe you have some corrupt presets. A couple of more things to consider might be firmware/Editor related. What version of firmware are you on? Does your Editor version match your firmware? I hate suggesting this because it sounds like the old cliche of reboot your computer whenever there is a problem but perhaps it might be worth backing everything up, and doing an explicit global reset or even updating the firmware again, and doing a global reset if this continues. Maybe someone else, particularly an LT user can provide a simpler solution. You can always contact L6 support and maybe they can think of something. Good luck with this.
  3. LOL, don't you worry, that update is coming soon. "I can feel it coming in the air tonight." Somehow it seems less threatening when the guy leading the mob in front-center looks like Phil Collins.
  4. Alright already, laughing my a$$ off. I get the point, the new firmware is not out yet, as they say "too soon?". So much for trying to discuss firmware implementation this close to delivery. I know people aren't seriously concerned they won't get their new toy at all if Line6 sees this thread and decides, "oh yeah, he's right, let's delay it for a few weeks so we can change that"? As silverhead pointed out, dream on. There appears to be a certain shall we say "enthusiasm" about this update that is starting to look like a Black Friday sale at the local Walmart. Not wanting to be trampled in the stampede I will refrain from further commentary until after delivery. I'm psyched to get this one too folks, can't a brother make a friendly suggestion regarding the construction without everyone thinking he is trying to tear the building down and start again? I know we don't have it in hand yet but you don't have to be a psychic or beta tester to have a response or a suggestion about a fairly detailed description of what is coming. It does shed some light on why Line6 tends to keep upcoming update info close to the vest. From here on in until delivery I will cease looking into the crystal ball and suspend all critical thinking or extrapolation. It's all good people, sheesh, talk about first world problems. No offence taken at any of this, happy to provide some diversion as we wait for the latest EXCELLENT, I repeat EXCELLENT firmware release. Lord knows there will be a lull and doldrums to follow until the frenzy picks up again for the next one. PEACE! Oh, and btw, can we get rid of that "Legacy" category (puts on flak jacket, ducks and hides). ;) :P :D
  5. I've had both a Lonestar and the Lonestar Special. Great amps!
  6. Calm down, before you organize the lynch mob, no one is trying to delay the release for more than the "two hours" it would take to change it. What orifice are we pulling "several months" from anyway (probably the same one as "two hours")? Mostly just hoping they can pull off this change in a future upgrade and trying to get the process started. There was a little cherry-picking on that quote from me silverhead responded to. I also mentioned "future implementation" in that post. And didn't I see a Spikey request not too long ago for a tuner in the Editor in this release? Man, people get feisty when new releases are pending. :D

  8. I totally respect your position. I do think that thanks to Line6's announcements as well as comments here and elsewhere that we have a pretty good grasp on how the workflow will be affected without actually having it in our hands but you are correct that we don't yet know the extent or even perhaps lack of significant impact. I guess one of the reasons posts like this come out ahead of announced(rare) firmware releases is that somewhere lingers the vain hope that it might influence the implementation before delivery knowing quite well that is beyond highly unlikely. Very happy to see this update especially if they were forced to jump through some hoops to deliver it and did it anyway. Good choice Line6 and thank you! As I said in my initial post, not trying to come off ungrateful here or second guess Line6. Just trying to lay out what seems like an ideal future implementation.
  9. No denying that if the legacy effects could not be designated differently from the HX effects and instead had to be separated into a separate list this is by a country mile the best way they could have done it. Or perhaps slightly better would have been to put separate "Legacy" categories under the Mono/Stereo categories instead of next to them. They probably had a good reason for not doing that as well. As I stated above I would not be surprised if this was a well considered decision given whatever technical restrictions and the fastest way to get the legacy effects included now. Just hoping they can do it differently in the future, if they can't, oh well, no tragedy.
  10. Thanks for that clarification. If that is the case that is probably an excellent implementation given other restrictions that may prevented them from the IMHO preferable method of just being indicated differently but still in the list with the HX effects.
  11. I grant you that requietus666 might have employed a bit of hyperbole there but his point is well taken. I have no doubt that the legacy effects will be employed, but to a much lesser extent than they might have been otherwise. The new effects are a fantastic addition, especially as they not only include always welcome variations on existing HX effects but also totally different effects that may never have made their way into the Helix otherwise. Delighted to see this update. Just think it would be ideal to see the legacy effects as easy as possible to navigate to and use.
  12. Btw, I would not be surprised at all if Line6 already thought of including the legacy effects in the existing HX categories and the new "Legacy" list is their workaround. This might have been due to some technical reason such as embedded names in the legacy effects' code that were the same as the ones in the newer HX effects "confusing" the existing code base as to which effect, legacy or HX was being invoked. Or perhaps designating a legacy effect differently in an existing list is going to take some time to code. Whatever the reason, getting over those hurdles could potentially have delayed this update. If any of these or something similar are the reasons they decided to go with a "Legacy" category I hope at some point they can recode and get around this limitation to make for a more elegant and logical way of including legacy effects alongside HX effects.
  13. Added this to IdeaScale: Eliminate the new "Legacy" category (NOT the legacy effects) and add the legacy effects with a clear way designating they are legacy (append asterisk, different color or font, etc.) alongside the HX effects in their corresponding already existing categories (Distortion, Mod, Delay, etc.). https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Include-Legacy-effects-with-HX-effects-with-a-special-indicator/921132-23508#idea-tab-comments
  14. Couldn't agree more! This may indeed doom legacy effects to oblivion or at least to being less used if people are forced to compare the specific effect they want to use for a preset by for example rolling though all the HX distortion effects and then having to jump out of that list to go listen to some legacy distortions located in a completely separate area.

  16. I have been thinking about how I use my Helix and just wanted to put this out there and see how other people feel about it. Rather than Line6 adding a "Legacy" category I would much rather they maintain the current effect categories, e.g. "Modulation", Distortion, Delay, etc. and just append the legacy effect's name with an asterisk, a different color or font, or some other way of indicating that they are legacy. This makes much more sense to me than for example adding a "Legacy" list. I am just considering how I use my Helix and when I, for example, go looking for a distortion effect, I would prefer to see all of them in one place, HX and legacy, and be able to select the one that best fits my needs. Having to go into a separate master list - "Legacy", just seems like a poor way to navigate for effects spread out across many categories and will probably make them less likely to be used. Ultimately as long as a legacy effect is differentiated visually from an HX effect, I don't mind it being in the current set of block lists it pertains to(Distortion, Mod, etc.) along with all of my other HX effects. Don't want to come off as sounding critical here about this fantastic update, I am very grateful for the addition of the legacy effects. I am just wondering if the method for navigating to the new "Legacy" effects could be improved upon. I think they will get more usage if they appear, clearly marked, in the same lists as the HX effects, and be much simpler to navigate to. It will also be much simpler to compare similar effects if they are all in one list, e.g. distortions, rather than to have to jump to a completely separate category to listen to the legacy distortions. I guess I am proposing that the Legacy category be eliminated and that Legacy effects just be clearly indicated in some other manner but included in the existing categories of HX effects. How are other folks feeling about this? Update: Added this to IdeaScale. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Move-Legacy-Effects-in-with-the-rest-and-make-em-look-different/921132-23508#idea-tab-comments
  17. Does this only happen when you copy and paste a snapshot? Are you saving before you cut & paste the snapshot? Not sure if you discovered a copy & paste bug. I will have to check But until then wanted to throw out a couple of possibilities that don't necessarily have anything to do with copy & paste. Did you have the channel volume parameter assigned to a snapshot (shows up enclosed by brackets)? If so, changing it to 5.7 will only change it for that snapshot. Also, you need to be careful to save after making a parameter change if you have your 'Global Settings' --> 'Preferences' --> 'Snapshot Edit' = "Discard". This will cause your changes to be reset to whatever the preset/snapshot was last saved with unless you do a save before switching snapshots. With the "Discard" setting you will have to go into each snapshot and change the channel volume and save before proceeding to the next snapshot.
  18. Some of the options described above are definitely excellent if you absolutely want to continue to use your current interface for the guitar input to the DAW. I have to agree with willjrock and CraigGt here though. It is definitely worth reconsidering using your Helix as your DAW input rather than your current sound card interface. The Helix has both a 'Guitar' and 'Aux' input with variable impedance choices on the 'Guitar' input including 'Auto' available that make for a high quality input/output signal to a DAW specifically customized for guitar. I don't think you will be buying a whole lot, and it may not be worth the trouble of sticking with your current interface (at least for the guitar) although we all know the pain of having purchased a high end piece of gear that may no longer be necessary for its intended purpose. Given the all digital path you are currently using with a quality interface I can totally understand why you would balk at leaving it out of your signal chain however the Helix's 8 USB outs can easily provide an excellent direct as well as processed signal.
  19. This sounds like it may be latency from the computer. How are you monitoring the sound, e.g. from the laptop's speakers or via an output on the LT? Checking the control panel for your sound driver and reducing the buffer size may help. You can also take a look at page 56 in the LT manual for some tips on how to reduce latency. You will get some latency as you have sound coming from two sources, computer and LT, but you may be able to minimize it and make it barely perceptible.
  20. You have a point, I don't think this will cause any kind of failure which would be my concern and it does make a nice subtle visual effect each time the button is pressed.
  21. Not a showstopper but I can see why this might bother you. Your video definitely looks like the screen is flexing when you press that knob. Is this a common issue with the LT? I have never experienced on my Helix. Does anyone else with the LT have this problem? I would as recommended above, contact Line6 and ask them about this or open a ticket. If possible you could go up to a guitar store and check to see if other LTs are doing this and if they are not I would swap this one out as you just received it.
  22. Could be several issues including a problem with the power being supplied to the unit. You may want to check and see if this still happens on a different electrical outlet or in a different home/location. I would definitely do a backup and global reset, or backup and reapply the latest firmware, as one of my first avenues of troubleshooting. Also do you have the 'Global Settings' --> 'EXP Pedals' --> 'EXP 2 Pedal Postion' set to "Global". Just wondering if it comes back after you move the expression pedal?
  23. Thanks for bringing our attention to this manual. Just wanted to emphasize that the new HX Effects manual, starting on page 16 as LutherDelLorme points out, is in some respects like looking at a Revision "E" cumulative updated section in the Helix manual on all the effects that have been added over the last few Helix firmware revisions as well as the ones still to come in the Helix 2.50 firmware; including the new HX reverbs and legacy effects. Very helpful! :) I would still love to see Line6 wax a bit more verbose on new effect descriptions, particularly Line6 "Originals" like the HX reverbs but if I had to choose between resources spent on development and those spent on documentation I would definitely choose the former. There is also always the excellent HelixHelp.com site for links to many of the third party effects and amps original documentation.
  24. "Gold Plate", "Blue Plate Special" (old school reverb, really old), "Platechtonic"? :D
