  1. Exactly - wait for 2.5 to arrive all will make sense.. like you said we will know it when 2.5 arrives, its not that important.
  2. Sure the answer is that "At launch, all reverb models are based on HD models, but rebuilt in HX." Digital Igloo That means the 12 reverbs currently in FW2.3 are HD Legacy Models and Not HX, thus they will be classed as Legacy in FW2.5. No new legacy reverbs will be moved to helix as helix already contains them. Those 12 reverbs in FW2.3 will be moved into a legacy folder, and the 5 new HX reverbs will be in the Mono/Stereo folders... for now there wont be any duplicates e.g. there wont be a reverb in both the legacy and mono/stereo folders with the name of Plate, as the Plate reverb is an HD reverb and thus will only be in the legacy folder. Hope that clears up any confusion. In the future Line 6 might decide to release an HX Plate reverb, but im guessing to avoid confusion they wont give the HX plate reverb the name Plate!
  3. The 2 HX wahs - UK and Teardrop. BenAdrian - TGP https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?posts/23035076/ Digital Igloo - TGP https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?posts/20267812/ The Reverbs and eight of the ten wahs are HD models rebuilt within the HX engine. We also rebuilt Doom, Epic, and Elektrik, but they're favorite custom hybrids that, IIRC, utilize some HX components—will have to confirm with sound design on Monday.
  4. Digital Igloo on The Gear Page June 12th 2015 At launch, all reverb models are based on HD models, but rebuilt in HX. They sound notably better in Helix tho'. Eight of the ten wahs came from HD as well. All other FX models were created from scratch in HX. https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?posts/20130691/ july 2nd 2015 We felt that two HX wahs weren't enough, and the eight HD wah models were fairly simple to rebuild in HX (unlike models in other categories). https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?posts/20226571/ April 8th 2016 The only reason we ported 8 out of 10 wahs and the reverbs from HD (everything else is built from scratch in HX) is because we simply ran out of time. Ideally, everything in Helix would've been brand new. I'm not morally opposed to porting M-Class/HD models to HX, but we'd much rather make new stuff. https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?posts/21734256/ Since then we have got loads of new stuff and now the bonus of legacy FX too..... thanks line 6 and digital igloo for seeing to all of that So which 2 Wahs are HX?
  5. My vote would be Yes too... if they are HD versions...
  6. haha Nothing to see here.... Yes Not important... just killing time whilst the the FW2.5 page saying 'nothing here yet'... but when it does land i will have already done some background digging about the new (old) FX.
  7. Hey thanks that info... Just pulled up this post... phil_m, on 28 Sept 2016 - 5:08 PM, said: All the delays on the Helix are HX level... They were all made from scratch for the Helix. Actually, of all the effects on the Helix, all of them are completely new except the reverbs and the 6 HD wahs. http://line6.com/support/topic/23027-transparent-boostod/?p=175222 Can anyone at Line 6 chime in and confirm if the Wahs are legacy or HX versions? thank you
  8. p.s. just noticed L6 Drive is missing... Distortion Models - L6 Drive - Colorsound® Overdriver (modded) - not previously available in Helix.
  9. Only the Reverbs In Helix 2.3 were non HX effects and thus will become legacy once the new HX reverbs arrive - correct according to the HX effects manual https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3d3f4a5a6a1897ecdf6/application/pdf/HX%20Effects%202.50%20Owners%20Manual%20-%20English%20.pdf Yes the Helix does have a space / cosmos echo... The cosmos echo is Helix 2.3 is based on the Roland® RE-202 Space Echo Where as the Legacy Multi head effect is based the Roland RE-101 Space Echo, according to the HXFX manual.... I dont know How much difference there was between the original RE101 and 202 and how different the HX and legacy versions will sound - we will found out... Here is a bit of background on it.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roland_RE-201
  10. My understanding is this will only be for the reverbs. The reverbs in FW 2.3 will be moved into the reverb legacy folder. An the new FW2.5 HX reverbs have different names to the current FW2.3 reverbs, so no duplication of names
  11. Thanks Silverhead, Totally for sure i get that and its good to know to compare and experiment... Just wanted to create a list of FX that havent appeared in Helix before, I have just looked at the updated "Helix Amp Model Gallery - Real Controls vs Invented" and realise there are some differences in our lists of which FX have or have not already appeared as FX in helix FW2.3.... http://line6.com/support/topic/19961-helix-amp-model-gallery-real-controls-vs-invented/page-2
  12. Hello. thanks for this great post, so much detailed info has been an invaluable resource since i got the Helix. And thanks for updating it for the upcoming FW2.5 I have just made a quick list of the Legacy FX, that at first glance dont seem to be already in Helix 2.3 http://line6.com/support/topic/31606-legacy-fx-that-are-not-already-in-helix-i-think-do-you-agree/ Just had a look at your post above and see we have some differences? Wondering if i can share those differences with you and ask your reasoning. I realise you know so much more about these FX so maybe you have valid reasons for why some are included and others are not in the list of Legacy FX that have not been available before as an HX version. thanks for your help with this... much appreciated The following FX you marked as not being in Helix before, but they seem to have versions in firmware 2.3? – maybe you have highlighted these because the legacy versions, in the effects unit they are originally from, offered some level of parameters the Helix versions don’t? Distortion Models Octave fuzz - Tycobrahe® Octavia Modulation Models Tri chorus - Dytronics® Tri-Stereo Chorus Delay Models Ping pong - Line 6 Original In my quick comparison i found that I thought the following FX weren’t already in helix 2.3, but you haven’t higlighted them as being not available in Helix before. 13. Quickly gone through the list of legacy FX in the HXFX manual and compared them to the HX effects and created a list of the ones that seem, from a quick glance, to not be already in Helix 2.30 Discuss if you spot any that are actually in Helix already, or if i made any errors. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3d3f4a5a6a1897ecdf6/application/pdf/HX%20Effects%202.50%20Owners%20Manual%20-%20English%20.pdf https://line6.com/m13/images/m13_modelgallery02.pdf 39 or 41 of the Legacy FX have not appeared in Helix before. 14. http://line6.com/support/topic/29033-helix-native-150-coming-soon—dont-look-for-it-now/#entry242156 New Features Snapshot support—Helix Native now supports up to eight snapshots per preset Drag block to clear—Click and drag a block out out of the signal flow view to clear it Dragging an amp/effect block nudges neighboring blocks out of the way to allow insertion Dragging a split/join block reveals insertion points between amp/effect positions (basically the same as previous behavior) Split/join positions can be nudged from any direction at any point along path A
  15. Pure joy.... the new amps and reverbs and legacy fx... also available in native too... wow what a phenomenal tool helix has grown into... And you know that behind the scenes line 6 are really thinking ahead with the recent architecture changes and hiring of new top dsp crafters... the future of Helix is in very good hands! Look forward to seeing how it evolves but right now already very happy with this update. I'm intrigued what version 3.0 brings to the table after those architecture changes but that can wait we got plenty toys to get stuck into. Thanks to line 6 and team helix

    Manual - with 77 legacy effects https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3d3f4a5a6a1897ecdf6/application/pdf/HX%20Effects%202.50%20Owners%20Manual%20-%20English%20.pdf
  18. Lots of new toys to play with..... no controversy here - just pure great news! Question - are the legacy effects re-worked, re-sampled to take advantage of the Helix's extra DSP just like the reverbs were revamped from HD reverbs? (Im Assuming thats logical) http://line6.com/support/topic/18284-latest-helix-firmware-250%E2%80%94coming-soon/ Manual for HXFX https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3d3f4a5a6a1897ecdf6/application/pdf/HX%20Effects%202.50%20Owners%20Manual%20-%20English%20.pdf New Legacy Effects Models (77) Helix Floor, Rack/Control, and LT now include a library of effects from M13, M9, M5, DL4, DM4, FM4, and MM4. Dear me lots of worry about about something that hasn't even been confirmed... get back to enjoying your helix peeps

    HXFX

If there where to be a HXFX unit... what about an HX Amps unit?... that would be the perfect compliment for Strymon's gorgeous stunning FX units... All that Strymon lack is an amp modelling unit to pair with their FX... Helix has it all but I'm putting my neck on the line here in saying that Strymon set a high standard with their fx... I think their reverbs will have set the bar for the new HX reverbs to try and match... My dream set up would be to use a plethora of Strymons fx with Helix amps... but it would lose the functionality and sound quality maintained throughout the signal path that helix hardware gains when you have the fx and amps under the same hood but i just feel the strymons currently have a slight edge over helix fx... tho the helix fx are still very good but when I play thru a friends strymon's with my helix my jaw drops... but I love my helix to be clear... im sure my helix wont mind me talking fondly of strymon as my helix has a lot of respect for strymon too and he enjoys it when I plug them together. Just I can't afford to buy the strymons as I went down the helix all in one route and tied my cash up in that... If the HXFX is true... well done to helix for covering every way they can sell their efforts with HX... $599 does that seem resonable price.. the LT is 999 and the full version 1499... what if they are releasing a HXFX and a HX amps... would the combined price of those two units if both at 599 (1198) sit correct against the LT 999 or the full version 1499. Would a HX Amps at 599 seem good value when it's competition in part would be something like atomic amplifire for around $750 (converted from UK price). When I have thought about a strymon styled amp modeller to compliment their fx I was thinking around the price of one of their multi fx units like the big sky which is around $499... but 599 for HXFX or HX AMPS would seem reasonable release date price?
  21. That's very interesting Craig. I find the loops inject noise... is this the reason / cause.. that they are too hot? When you say the level meter is hidden... can you elaborate on that a bit... where is it hidden ... physically inside or in software and how do you access it... Thanks for sharing this post Craig it's a good insight

    Well, I did it.

Sure preferences are cool and individual to each of us I wasn't suggesting go out buy a rack or anything like that just that I'm happy I don't have to bend down anymore.... edit at home... rack out and about.... umm power amp, rack, controller, guitar cab, pa speaker's, rc300 looper, recorder, oll and couple guitars and box of cables my list of stuff to carry is many I'm afraid
  23. jaybee77

    Well, I did it.

Absolutely the editor is only for when at home for me too... when out I have the rack at hand height to make needed changes... very ergonomic just move hand from guitar to the rack and back again... tis great
