  1. I think you mean full support for the HX Effects product?
  2. You could use something like this: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MDBT01--yamaha-md-bt01-bluetooth-wireless-midi-interface you'd have to figure out what MIDI commands to send to the phone if your app even supports it. This standalone thing would be simpler: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PEDPro--airturn-pedpro-bluetooth-foot-controller since it sends standard bluetooth instructions as opposed to MIDI.
  3. My church is about the size of yours, maybe smaller, and I've nether been scared to tap on the switches. Ask your sound person if they can hear the clicking from the back. You may think it's loud, especially during soundcheck when there are no bodies there, but are people complaining or is it just bothering you? On the other hand, our room is pretty noisy with all the babies and small children.
  4. Check out 3 sigma audio's Helix presets. https://www.3sigmaaudio.com/helix-collection/ They have a clean, pushed, crunch, hi-gain, and lead preset for each amp. They could have done a snapshot for each setting like you are trying to do, but they didn't. I'm not suggesting you buy the packs but take a look at the amps used and those will be great candidates for you. To that list I would add the ones mentioned above: Litigator and Cartographer.
  5. I got an email response from 3SA regarding the EQ blocks.
  6. I ordered the Boutique Classic pack and also found the clean and pushed presets to be too bright but if I turn them off it then sounds like I threw a blanket over the speakers (I'm using headphones though). Even though I think they are too bright it isn't that bad, it just makes my humbucker PRS sound like a single coil Tele. It sounds OK in my headphones and would probably sound great in a recorded mix too but I know if I try to use them with the PA at my church it will be supper harsh. I haven't played around with the eq settings yet but I wish the manual would cover the purpose of the EQ blocks and give suggestions on adjusting.
  7. Just curious, which neutral/flat tube power amp did you end up with?
  8. I definitely notice the volume difference between the preamp and amp models. It is especially noticeable when I use my amp in 4CM and switch between the amp's preamp and the modeled preamp. I have to add like 12-18 dB of gain to the return block to compensate. It's so bad I just use an amp model instead of the preamp model. It's not a big deal since my amp is a Quilter 101 mini and the power section is Class D, so I probably need the power amp to be modeled anyways, unlike your case. P.S. It's almost like the preamp models are meant to go into a clean preamp, not straight to the power amp. Something is missing.
  9. Split your signal chain at the end by adding a cabinet block, selecting it (with the action button) and moving it down with the joystick. Select the merge point and move it down with the joystick to split the outputs. Your second path with the cabinet (and you could add some reverb) will now have its own output that you can set to XLR. You should also set your first output to send to 1/4" out instead of Multi. In the global settings you can set the headphone to monitor only XLR.
  10. I have an audio interface so, with everything at 12 o'clock on the interface (I'm assuming that would be unity), I could put the default 3 note generator block (for consistency) in front of each preset that I want to balance and then use software meters to dial in the same level across the presets I want to balance. Would that work? Would it be worth putting a return block after the amp block and use the channel volume to balance in addition to balancing the final output?
  11. What if there was a device that could generate a reference noise that is sent to the Helix, and then a return block inserted as desired in the chain returns to the device which shows the amount of gain relative to the reference noise? Or do I misunderstand how signal metering works? Is there equipment around that can do that?
  12. Here's a tip for practice: don't turn the Helix on. You will spend all of your time tweaking and trying new things and you wont get any playing done (that's what happens to me). I have a Quilter 101 mini head that I use with a homemade 1x12 cabinet and it works great with the Helix going to the effects return. Plenty of power. It is also a beast in 4cm. Or just by itself, so I don't get distracted by the Helix. Unlike tube amps it sounds as good at low volumes as it does at high volumes. It has a Class D poweramp so you can still use the poweramp model in Helix and as long as the cab model used is similar to the real cabinet I don't notice a huge tone difference between FOH and the physical cabinet.
  13. I use this bag for the LT. One of the cheaper options and pretty sturdy. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ImpulseBag25--novation-black-carry-case-25-key
  14. If you are using physical cabs you probably do not want to have a cab model in your chain. So micing the physical cabs is the way to go. It doesn't mean you can't do both though. This is the Helix, after all. You can split your signal towards the end of your chain and send one path to the PowerStage (via 1/4" out) and the other path through a cab model to FOH (via XLR). This way the sound tech can mix your mic'd cab with your modeled cab. Not sure why you would want to do this but some sound guys might like it.
  15. I know nothing of studio recording and am less than amateur at live sound so this post comes with a truckload of salt that you have to swallow before you are allowed to read it. It seems to me that when we talk about stereo effects there are two types of stereo we are talking about: Effects that emulate the feeling of having two ears in a room, listening to a sound source. By sound source I mean an instrument, hand clap, cough, sneeze, NOT two speakers on opposite sides of the room!). Effects that simply exploit the existence of two audio channels. Reverbs are (probably) always in the first group. Delays could be in the first group or the second group. If a pingpong delay is used to emulate the way a sound echoes in a room, it is in the first group. If a pingpong delay is used for rhythmic effect it is in the second group. Autpan might emulate a sound source moving from left to right. Add some phase or flange and it is now moving front to back as well, moving in a circle around you. I think the error here is expecting reverb to happen in the ear after the sound has entered our ear. If I clap my hands in a room, I expect to hear the dry clap and then the reverberations from the clap. If my ears are plugged the instant the clap happens and unplugged the instant the clap ends, I will hear the reverberations with BOTH ears and I will not be able to tell if the clap happened to my left or right. The OP wants to be a wall between two rooms. He wants to be wall that has an ear on each side. A sound in the left room would reverberate into the left room ear and a sound in the right room would reverberate into the right room ear. But Line 6 knows we aren't walls. We are people blessed by our creator with two ears on each side of our head.
  16. So I whipped up a very basic hlx file viewer as a proof of concept. I've taken it as far as I can with my limited programming skills so hopefully this generates some interest. test.html
  17. What does it do? It isn't immediately obvious to me.
  18. Has anyone successfully been using the Helix as an audio interface on Linux? I'm running Ubuntu 17.10 and the Helix does not show up as a device in the sound settings. It is also not listed as a device if I run aplay -l When I start jack (using Cadence from KXStudio) it is not listed in the configuration section. If I run alsamixer it is listed as a soundcard (Helix). lsusb also lists the device. I'm not expecting to be able to use HX Edit, just use the Helix as an audio interface.
  19. Someone needs to write a GUI viewer for hlx files. It could be a website or a standalone app but it would be cool to be able to graphically view presets in a similar way to how HX Edit or the Helix would display them without actually having the Helix present or running the Native software. I would help in the effort but my programming chops are limited.
  20. Yep. I did that and it did help with the harshness of the buzz and with certain IRs it is even less harsh. It is still more noticeable with cab/IR in headphones than with no IR through my speaker cabinet, but it's not distracting anymore. I have adjusted the tension on my truss rod to the dimensions recommended by PRS for a "heavy strummer" and that, of course, had the biggest impact.

    Fret Rattle

I need to ask because I could just be crazy, but to me fret rattle (or buzz) seems to be a lot more noticeable when using the Helix compared to just my real amp by itself or even Helix in 4CM with my amp. I was trying out some IRs last night and some of them made it even more pronounced. It is also more noticeable in the headphones than in my speaker cabinet (powered by the effects return of my amp). I only notice it when I am strumming. I realize the actual solution is to make sure my guitar is set up properly but I'm just wondering if anyone else has made the observation that the amp modeling can expose ugly defects sooner than real amps.
  22. But it would still make sense to have a READ-ONLY offline mode for HX Edit. What I am suggesting though is that the Customtone website have a viewer built into it and displayed for each preset. It really shouldn't be too hard, looking at the hlx files.
  23. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/idea-v2/917693 Please vote if you like the idea.
  24. I just submitted an idea for making the Customtone website display a visual of the uploaded preset. Basically, it would be helpful if Customtone showed the preset's signal path and parameters for each block, etc. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/idea-v2/917693
  25. I used to play a game called EVE Online. It's a spaceship MMO and you can buy different ships and fit them with different equipment. There are websites where people can share their ship fittings (think presets) for different ships. Example: https://o.smium.org/loadout/142969 I don't want to download a preset and load it on the Helix just to find 80% of the time it isn't actually what I wanted. I'm going to submit the idea on ideascale but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing an existing tool that I wasn't aware of.
