  1. 04D Archtype Lead is pretty darn close to Van Halen - Running with the Devil even though is it most likely not a model of his equipment. What an unbelievable sound! tg
  2. Good thinking on backing up the User Bank!! There would have been less LOL-ing otherwise :) What do you think of the new cabs? tg
  3. To me this instant, seamless switching desire (obsession?) just cracks me up. Do folks not have rests in their guitar parts? Are we always playing notes or chords, the entire song, non-stop? Music theory 101 - 1/4 note or 1/8th note rests are just as important as the notes. I tend to switch patches or snapshots 1/2 or 1 beat before I need it, typically at the "4-and" beat if in 4/4 while muting my strings. I also use 2 or 3 adjacent presets live, not more, so a single tap works. People could also opt for a bit more space in their playing or soloing...but that's a whole other topic. Cheers. tg
  4. I was told there would be no math...
  5. If I may extend this line of thought - if I want to continue the chain out of the Alto (or Headrush FRFR108 which I use) into FOH, there is an XLR out of the Headrush for this purpose. Will changing the volume on the FRFR108 affect the signal strength to FOH, or will it only affect the volume of the FRFR? tg

    On board looper

Are you using the 1-switch or the 6-switch looper? tg
  7. If you updated to 2.0 and did the factory reset, all presets will have the new cabs. While the list looks quite similar, some new presets have been provided. You should notice also that there are also legacy cabs available (which appear with a yellow dot), but they are not used in the new presets. tg
  8. Day job laptop bag for me as well. tg
  9. And a ridiculously small screen... tg
  10. If you press the mode button to get back to Stomp mode while the looper is playing you can, in the same preset, turn on an OD block which will not affect the recorded sound, just your "live" tone. tg
  11. @voxman55, our patches and set-up sound remarkably similar. Ext foot switch for patch changes, and 6 button stomp mode. Its neat to see the soundman’s face light up when I told him I was going direct. Was not sure what Pod Go was (or Helix) but when I confirmed it’s like a Neural DSP, it was all good. Apparently, 8 of his last 10 bands were using DSP… tg
  12. Well it finally happened. I bought my Pod Go 2.5 yrs ago and did my first live gig with it last week. American Strat - Joyo TS clone - Pod Go - Direct box split to FOH and to Headrush FRFR 108 pointed right at me. Amazing experience all around. I got several compliments on my tone. Used stacking of several OD to go from edge of breakup to full blown lead sounds. Cut thru loud and clear. Used only 2 patches - one based on Fender Bassman with occasional use of Klon OD the other on a JCM 800 with a Teemah for leads. Both with Glitz 'verb and occasional Simple Delay Made sure to use hi cuts around 5k in cab blocks and I set my sounds using FRFR at around 2/3 of stage volume, at home. I am never using an amp again. Edit: Forgot to mention this was also my first gig after having added a treble bleed circuit to the Strat. Great control of my volume and tone, on board, without tone suck when backing off on guitar volume. I highly recommend this. tg
  13. Voxman - Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I read this when you posted but then real life came calling...
  14. All, Playing live in a 5-piece band with keyboardist and another guitarist. I use my Pod Go into FRFR108 into main board. I would like to use an EQ block for a solo boost, mostly with slightly overdriven, bluesy tones. I am using a Strat. I plan to boost volume and mid-range. My hi-cuts are already set in Cab block at around 5k to ensure no fizz, but I really want to be heard. Which mid-range frequencies do I boost, and by how much? tg
  15. On the more immediate question of getting out of snapshot mode - if you are in 4 button mode, hit both up and down switches at the same time to toggle between snapshot and bank up-down modes. Hint - buying an instantaneous footswitch and plugging into EXP2 gives allows you to use 6 button mode and have up-down capability. For a basic tutorial - here is a pretty good one but still probably more technical than you need: (1) Line 6 POD GO Beginners Guide & Demo w/ Tom Quayle - Bing video Probably more useful would be this one - considering that there is a lot of info online about the Helix that is very similar in workflow and structure to Pod Go. tg
  16. I finally just bought a Focusrite Scarlett Solo. Main out from pod Go into the Solo's input. It seems JamKazam is expecting a "conventional" audio interface and this worked fine. Although I am off Jamkazam for about 1 yr now and have started jamming live again. It is so much better than the glitchy rhythm nightmare that is Jamkazam, esp now that Covid is somewhat under control here in Canada. Good luck. tg
  17. Hey Root6t6, Could the input pad setting have changed from On to Off with the update? This could explain the across-the-board difference in harshness. tg
  18. Two years later - how are your crunch and lead tones with those headphones? Are they close to those of an FRFR speaker? tg
  19. Wow. Hearing the video up top, I hardly noticed a difference. But when trying A/B tests with and without a Boss DSD-2 pedal in front (off), the Pod Go does like Frampton in '75: It comes alive! It responds more to my playing feel, especially with edge of breakup tones like those of the Line 6 Litigator amp. Thanks all. tg
  20. All, I just saw a video from Five Watt World describing how using an analogue boost or OD before the Pod Go goes a long way to providing that Tube Amp feel, before signal enters the all-digital unit. See portion at 12:00. Have any of you taken this route? Thoughts? tg
  21. Hi kszak - here are a couple of things that may help: Firstly you must use a TRS cable, not a standard guitar jack, plugged into the Main Out - Left of the Pod Go, and into one of the FRFR 108 inputs. I set volume on FRFR108 at about 3. Make sure your Pod Go output is set to Line Level, not instrument. This is specified in the FRFR108 manual. Thirdly , as mentioned by spaceatl - contour switch on the FRFR must be out, not in. Finally if it sounds just too bassy or muddy - you need to lift the FRFR off the floor. Place it vertically on a chair or milkcrate, and keep it away from a corner of your room. This makes a huge difference at a better overall EQ - balance across all of your strings. As soon as I did this I decided to keep the speaker. Once you decide to keep it - you can get an amp stand or a PA short tripod stand. Good luck!
  22. It is so sensitive that if my picking hand is resting on the guitar as I turn the string peg, the note shows a bit sharp as the tuner picks up the bending of the neck! tg
  23. Same here - firmware 1.30 is a killer, and the new Orange amp, and Dynamic Hall reverb combined with Retro Reel effects produce a very believable pedal-steel sound. tg
  24. To Numbat, After 15 months with the unit, I can share the following, previously craving simplicity with a tube amp, a delay and a volume pedal for many years: 1) Make sure you use equipment that your Pod Go is designed for: i.e. High quality studio monitoring headphones and/or an FRFR speaker or studio monitors. Yes some will say it can work through an amp, but what I suggest is the most direct path to ENJOYING the device. Took me 8 months to realize this... 2) Despite the above, you will most likely not like the presets. They are rarely the patches of choice, maybe because Line 6 is maybe trying to demonstrate the amazing array of features instead of providing many usable out-of-the box sounds. 3) Stop thinking like a guitarist who just tweaks an amp. Expand your outlook slightly to add a mic-d guitar cabinet to your universe. It's not that much more complicated and once you find 2-3 goto sounds that you know how to tweak, it opens up a huge array of possibilities, if you are interested. 4) Understand Low and high cuts - these were the number 1 eye-opener for me. Proper understanding will get rid of the "fizzy" sound. 5) Search Youtube for Helix Amp Model videos. The amp models in Pod Go are the same and there are many "recipes" of amp settings that will produce sounds you will not believe. And the videos will quickly have you grasp best practices (for example the usual order of blocks (od, amp, cab, eq, delay, reverb etc)). Yes there are tons of settings but you quickly keep re-using them. Use a laptop to dial in sounds as they do on these videos - much quicker. 6) Remember to regularly play along with backing tracks or fellow musicians, this is a very quick way to stop obsessing over your f-n sound!! If you can only remember 2 of these, choose 1 and 6. Or, just use the Scream 808 - Line 6 Litigator amp model, simple delay and any of the reverbs and you will be happy. And get an acoustic IR - which will work well with an acoustic, and the same purchase will give you options to use your electric to emulate an acoustic, quite well. Good luck! tg
