  1. Here’s a link to a thread about creating acoustic impulse responses - see the replies from long time contributor “amsdenj”. If you are wanting specific acoustic impulses you may find what you need by checking out some of the usual IR supply companies, such as 3 Sigma Audio, Ownhammer et al. There are even some freebies around, IIRC, some available from Helix beta tester and forum member Peter Hamm. Google for them. See link below. Or for a little science, check out this: http://acousticir.free.fr/spip.php?article136&var_mode=calcul
  2. Damn, yes they do and I actually have quite a few, but the point I was attempting to get across was reverb IRs are not going to work because that was what the OP asked about. Some days are like that.
  3. Helix only uses cabinet IRs, The max sample rate is quoted by “Schmalle” in the post above. By comparison reverb Impulse Response files are huge. Furthermore, if it could be done you wouldn’t see so many threads about more/better reverb in Helix on this forum.
  4. They are worth looking at, and some of the Djent style guys on here rate a couple of them as good. For a little more insight as to how the came into being and what they are based on go here and read about them from under the more detail link. https://helixhelp.com/models Hope this helps
  5. Line 6 are not known for telling people what they have in the pipeline, at least not until it’s about to happen and that’s if you are really lucky. Also, I wonder what the Laney would add to what’s already available? As for any amp model already in the firmware, the best thing to do is go through them one by one and listen. When you find one you like that’s it, even though it may be one you never expected. I bet you haven’t checked them all out yet. A little trick to test/compare various amps is put a looper block in the first slot before anything else. Then go through the amp and cab selections while your recorded riff loops around. When you find something interesting you can then select the separate amp and cab and mess with mic positions hi/lo cut etc., or even audition different IRs. You might be surprised at what you turn up.
  6. O.K. Give I will give this one more shot. You do realise that HX Edit must be closed down before you run the Updater to do a local install. Also, as you are using a Mac, ensure that the version of HX edit is the latest version, because it is not unknown to have an older version being accessed via an “alias” linking back. That can be a big problem. One further thing - have you tried any of the factory reset options available on you HX Stomp. Here ya go! Try FS2+3 HX Stomp Button Combination Description All 3 Footswitches Clears all presets/IRs FS1+2 Resets presets and IRs FS 2+3 Factory restore (globals, presets, IRs Sorry about this, but in 2020, I reeeeeeeeally think users should have enough knowledge to update a product. It appears that most those 28,000 Helix family users on the Facebook page seem to mange to get through this painlessly. Generally, most people can get through this update stuff without any problems and the very loud “firmware update bricked my Helix, Stomp, Effects unit” complaint usually turn out to be user error! Hope this helps/makes sense.
  7. You still have not given me very much more to go on, but I will attempt to help you. That error message is an Apple issue - not Line 6. Therefore your statement “for a company selling high tech ,this is not super impressive to say the least”, should be directed to Apple. Also, you failed to tell me the version of OSX you are running, but I will guess “Yosemite”, because this expired certificate is a known issue. "NSURLErrorDomain - 1012" when enrolling devices with Apple Configurator When enrolling a new device to SimpleMDM using Apple Configurator software, you may receive the following error on the device during enrollment: The configuration for your [device] could not be downloaded from [company name] The operation couldn't be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error -1012.) This error sometimes occurs because Apple Configurator has cached an expired certificate. To resolve the issue, complete the following steps within Apple Configurator: Click the "Apple Configurator" file menu and select the "Preferences" option. Click the "Servers" tab. Select any SimpleMDM servers and delete them by clicking the "-" button at the bottom of the window. Attempt to re-enroll your device. Select the device in Apple Configurator, click "Prepare" and follow the prompts. When asked to, configure a new MDM server. This process will cause Apple Configurator to fetch the latest SimpleMDM certificates and may resolve the error. The certificate issue is documented here: If this continues try this. Follow these instructions to the letter, do not deviate. You will have to do a local install, by downloading the stuff you need and using the Line 6 Updater Utility. First you will need the HX Edit v2.92 software, then the Helix LT v 2.92 Flash Memory Bundle. O.K. go to the "DOWNLOADS" menu at the top of this page and from "-ALL HARDWARE-" select HX Stomp, then leave the "-ALL SOFTWARE-" as is, now select Mac OS X from under the "-ALL OS-" tab. from the next page you can select HX Stomp 2.92 Flash Memory, then below that you will need the HX Edit 2.92. Now scroll further down the page a grab Line 6 Updater version 1.9. Download all these bits to your Mac (they need to be installed in the Line 6 folder inside your Applications Folder). If you have made some presets that you wish to keep then they need to be backed up using HX Edit prior to updating the Firmware. If everything is fine then proceed to next step. Ensure that you have your HX Stomp connected to the Mac by a good USB cable and launch the Updater Utility and select "Offline Mode". Your HX Stomp and current firmware version should show in the window, click on the dark green coloured band and you should now have the option to select a local file - point it at the Flash Memory file you down loaded and let it get on with the update. Hope this helps/makes sense If this fails then the only person to blame is...?
  8. It would be a lot easier to assist you if you gave the information needed to be able to do that. Ok. you get an error message saying "The operation could not e completed", but on it's own it doesn't tell us much. More info required. Example: Update your HX Stomp from what version of the Firmware to ?.?? version What updater will not let you in? Note: the latest version of the firmware 2.92 is installed using HX Edit What computer and operating system are you using - Windows, Mac Please help us to help you. Hope this makes sense.
  9. Hi, Not sure if there is any relevant info in this post regarding Mac OSX 10.15 (Catalina) in the paragraph about plugins. Obviously you did install the 64bit version of HX Native, but it might be worth ensuring it is the correct version.

  11. Hallo, Sie könnten dies versuchen. oder dieses, https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/using-ipad-to-control-helix-is-now-possible.2024684/ Hoffe das hilft / macht Sinn
  12. Those missing IRs for the Rocking in the Free World preset, were named in the text alongside the download. They are: 2 Ownhammer IR's High and low cuts to taste. - OH 412 MRBW GNR OH2F-00 - OH 412 MRBW GNR R121-FRED. That code seems to indicate - 4x12 Marshall Basketweave, Greatly Neutral Response, Royer 121 ribbon mic, etc. These are possibly in this package - but you should verify that with Ownhammer as digital purchases cannot be refunded. https://www.ownhammer.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=186&products_id=438 Some insight into Ownhammer IRs here: https://www.ownhammer.com/tutorials/general/ and more - Re: Helix https://www.ownhammer.com/tutorials/helix/ Hope this helps/makes sense.
  13. Strange, that link you posted are a list of what someone regards as the best reverbs of 2019. Surely they will all have been superseded by now. The solution to this has been mentioned many times in these forums. If you want a “shimmer verb” buy a Strymon Big Sky and stick in a Send/Return FX loop, that’s what the Send and Returns are for. Bear in mind that a box of tricks such as the Big Sky uses the equivalent of one of the Helix DSP chips to produce those reverbs. Do you think losing half of the Helix DSP power is really worth it? I actually considered buying an Eventide H9 or the Strymon just for one or two effects, until a guy pointed out an item that is a big favourite of many keyboard players. The humble Zoom MS-70CDR. It does chorus, delay and reverb and more, in fact a total of 86 effects (137 in firmware update) that can link up to 6 simultaneously, for a very low price. For the couple of extra effects that I required it is perfect, when thrown in with everything else. YMMV! Hope this helps/makes sense
  14. I think you are misinterpreting the comment about Helix Native Software Plug In and the HX Stomp hardware. You can set up your HX Stomp and capture in your DAW the processed guitar signal along with the unprocessed dry signal. Then, rather than spend time sending that DI clean signal back out and through your hardware to be reprocessed and recorded back into the DAW, simply playback the dry signal through Native which appears as a regular insert audio plugin. The thing about native is you can choose to disable "Hardware Compatibility" in the preferences, which will allow you to add as many FX as your computer has processing power. So therefore, instead of being limited to the Single DSP and 6 Blocks of your Stomp, with Native running in your DAW it can function like a full blown Helix. Plus you can open as many instances of HX Native as you like (until your computer runs to of steam). Here's a video where using an HX Stomp to capture the processed and dry audio. And here's another showing Helix Native in use. It says, "INSTEAD", because it is not absolutely unnecessary to "round trip" everything back out of your computer just to have you HX Stomp add a different sound. You do it all inside your DAW with Native which can do a lot more. Hope this helps/makes sense
  15. And so are you - if you don’t like what you bought - sell it and buy something you do like. Pi$$ing and moaning here will not change a thing, other than annoy people who would otherwise be very happy - unlike you.
  16. It is a known issue and it's extremely well documented in many, many threads on here, even so, I have to keep posting this stuff over and over again. These notes posted previously for a Mac User, modified for a PC - (which I guess you are using, although you didn't say). O.K. go to the "DOWNLOADS" menu at the top of this page and from "-ALL HARDWARE-" select Helix, then leave the "-ALL SOFTWARE-" as is, now select your PC Operating System from under the "-ALL OS-" tab. From the next page you can select the Firmware 2.92 Flash Memory for your Helix, then below that you will need the HX Edit 2.92. Now scroll further down the page a grab Line 6 Updater version 1.9. Download all these bits to your PC. If you have made any presets that you wish to keep then they need to be backed up using HX Edit prior to updating the Firmware. If everything is fine, then proceed to next step. Ensure that HX Edit is closed and that you have your Helix connected to your PC by USB cable and launch the Updater Utility and select "Offline Mode". Your Helix and current firmware version should show in the window, click on the dark green coloured band and you should now have the option to select a local file - point it at the Flash Memory file you down loaded and let it get on with the update. Hope this helps/makes sense
  17. Hi, That change seems to have happened at revision 2.82. In a previous discussion, regarding the issue of switching presets while using the looper, you commented that you had been in touch with a member of Line 6 support in California (Josh) who said that it would be fixed in the next update. Mmm... they must have missed that because when you told them about this we were on Firmware 2.82. Couple of updates have passed since then with no mention of a fix, so, version 3.0 is still a maybe. It’s not a thing that I use, but if others need it fixed then hopefully it will be. The only reference to looper functions is in the notes for v2.90, which added Command Centre control to the looper. Here’s the old thread:
  18. Well, as it is on the 3Sigma site, the best people to ask would be them. You can email them - contact@3sigmaaudio.com Hope this helps/makes sense
  19. Excellent - cool update, thank you for your time and effort in creating this fine resource.
  20. The UREI 1176 uses FET based circuit and the LA-2A is a valve (vacuum tube) based, but I don’t reckon that it could have been a pro studio staple for as long as it has if it “sucked tone”. The Teletroniks works a treat on any signal you want to throw at it. It’s probably in almost every preset that I use, and I have the UA software plugin in LogicX patch into anything that might need some extra magic. I can only think that the “sucks tone” idea came from someone who didn’t know how to use it., because if you already have a good sound, then adding a LA-2A to the mix will make it better. YMMV! Here's a comparison
  21. Ye gods - an imposter ;-) That bench charge fooled me at first, I though that would be an additional cost, but when the invoice came it was inclusive. My repair stood me at less than £100 inc p&p from E&M and IIRC my courier to them was around £15 fully insured for absolutely everything. If you can live without the headphones why bother, but raise a ticket with Customer Support first and see if this is a known problem that they have a painless remedy for. Regards and good luck.
  22. Hey up Barnsley lad, Dun't fret flower, 'appen it we'ant be as expensive as tha reckons. I had a repair done to the joystick on my Helix floor. Quick and easy, there and back in about a week. Contact these guys for a quote, then get your unit well wrapped up and in the original box if poss. Take it to your local courier, or have them pick it up and sent off. It will be back in next to no time. Official Line 6 Service Centre for UK http://www.eandm.co Good luck from another White Rose man.
  23. Hi, I guess your Slash Epi uses regular humbuckers and I think that your ESP LTD M-400 will be fitted with active EMG 85/EMG 81 pickups. Those are probably going to require that you turn on the “Guitar In Pad” on your Helix. Find it under the Global Settings > Ins/Outs. Try that to see if it helps. Also, bear in mind, any patch you down load from CustomTone will sound different from how the guy who created it heard it. You will be in a completely different environment, different guitar, different strings, different technique, and that’s before even start to take the IRs into consideration. Therefore, any patch not designed to take advantage of active pups will just sound “wrong”. Using a different IR from the one specifically used will possibly make everything sound worse. The original preset the you tried required the 3Sigma MESA - go and see if that’s available as a freebie first, otherwise you will be blundering around in the dark. Get your ESP + Helix built in amps and cabs to play nice before complicating it any further with 3rd party IRs. Hope this helps/makes sense. Free IRs - start here:
  24. My apologies - I should have made that much clearer, as the OP mentioned clearing the Factory Presets which would free up an extra 256 slots in the first 2 setlists for him to use (although it seems he already has done that). Even so, as you point out 1024 slots is a lot to fill and as I commented I have a huge collection of presets - most of which will never be used or have even been checked out. Life's too short. What the hell is he creating? ;-) Where are the emojis when ya need 'em?
  25. If you make a back up of all your files to your computer, the cloud or wherever, that's your "Fail Safe". No matter how much you edit or change around the presets in your LT, you can alway go back and reload the ones you saved previously. I don't see how this could be troublesome, after all you do have 256 preset slots available. Save what you want and ditch what you don't need. As noted in posts above - always work on a copy, that way you cannot go wrong. Sheer madness - I just checked and I have almost 35,000 presets (yes, really) on my external drive - I wonder if I will ever need more than a dozen of them?
