Thank you. Yeah the whole thumb pick things comes from when I was a kid and studied classical music and after that I studied Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed style acoustic "Chiken Pickin". As I got older and started playing rock and hard rock & metal I just stayed with the thumb pick because it felt comfortable.

Using a Pod HD and a guitar - some tracks I laid down
GlennDeLaune replied to pwhittles's topic in POD HD
That's some pretty intresting stuff P!! I'd like to know how you did those stuttering FX of the guitar sounds. Was that done with the POD?? Were you using some sort of kill swith or using the guitar pick-up toggle selector?? -

I think that might have something to do with "Direct Monitoring". See if there is a setting in Reaper to turn On direct monitoring.

JCM 2000 DSL/ HD500x switching channels on amp with pedal?
GlennDeLaune replied to Broncos's topic in POD HD
Hey Rick, nice amp. I have one too! Unfortunately, since that amp has no MIDI and the HD500 does not have a channel switch jack connection you can't change the JCM channels with the HD500.- 5 replies

I would say first L2T. Second would be an Alesis Alpha 112 100 Watt 2-way speaker. It has a Neodynium horn driver which is really smooth. I'm using that currently for a stage sound source and man this thing is LOUD!! So I run a stereo feed direct to FOH and I have the Alpha on the floor behind me filling in the stage.

Can't get crunch/OD sounds from JVM 210 when using 4CM with POD HD500x
GlennDeLaune replied to elegault2's topic in POD HD
This is something very easily overlooked. Make sure the FX loop Button on the front panel of the amp is ON in those channel modes of the JVM. -
The PHD Motorway is a model of the Dr. Z Route66 amp. One of the Best Sounding Line 6 "modeled" amps Ever. (IMHO)

OK this is about as little gain as I will ever use to play cover SRV tones. http://www.glenndelaune.com/MaryHadALittleLambSample.mp3 and here is the patch I used: http://www.glenndelaune.com/GD-SRV-CLEAN-Eb.5xe Now you guys go have fun and play your guitar and practice.

Sure here ya go. This is the best example I have of using the Pitch Glide to downtune to Eb. I don't hear any warbling in this track do you?? I'm tellin' you guys it works. I use it all the time live in concert. http://www.glenndelaune.com/1MetalChurch.mp3

You've got to put that Pitch Glide at the begining of the FX Chain.

From what you're describing it sounds like your output mode is not set to LINE/PHONES. When recording, ALWAYS set the output mode to LINE/PHONES unless you are using some sort of IR CAB Plug-In, otherwise it would sound exactly as you describe it. Clean sounds are OK but Gain sounds are like, as you put it "a buzzy mess". That would also explain why you can get "killer live sounds running the hd through an amp". Usually the LINE/PHONES mode doesn't work best with a real amplifier.
-
The Pitch Glide effect does this perfectly. Just setr the mix level to 100% and turn the pitch setting to -1. i use it all the time for Alice & Chains and SRV and it does a greast job. Oh and make sure you position the effect at the begining of the chain for best results.
