The Spider V app is really hit or miss. I have 2 tablets that kind of work, one that doesn't work at all unless you root it, an Ipad 2 that doesn't work, and a newer Galaxy Note that sometimes works. Same issues with connections dropping. Tons of online store reviews saying the app sucks. The app is horrible and they need to make a computer editor for Win and Mac pronto. You can't save user batch backups, you can't save user files offline. Not easy to build preset banks because the screens are not connected. You have to load presets one at a time and then store those to Spider V unit. There should be an offline bank edit option with drag and drop. There is no storage on devices for sd card backup of user files. Really, the app is the worse part about the Spider V lineup. I have not found one mobile device running this really bad app that does not have disconnect issues. Mine will lock up too sometimes when swiping open an effect. Errors saying "Spider app was disconnected." I am really disappointed L6 made no NAMM announcement to correct the app issues or update whether or not computer editors were coming.

Sign in on the app. Load your preset. Go to "Details" and then the Share with Community option should appear.

Not on my FBV3 What do the switches do when selected from the app?
-
I did the same. Boss Katana K100. I've used the ID Series from Blackstar TVP260 and IDC20, so it isn't much different than that. All of those amps have computer editors. No mobile editor because they are not BT like the Code. Makes more sense.

Go to Ideascale and vote FOR a proper computer editor for Mac and Win It's getting ridiculous the number of people that have issues with this app. 3 GC returns this week because there is no pc editor.

AmiDuos works well enough but it's $15. 30 day full trial for free. I like it better than Virt Box or Andy. I still want an offline method of using the editor and I'd like my own way to save files to a user folder. Currently every thing you save in the app is hidden and you have no access to your files. Really lame. Right now the whole thing is cloud based which is a real pain. It's not a lot of fun putting sets together in banks. It's too much work and extra steps to save to the amp and build preset banks. As it is, you drag one in, load it, then save to amp. You can't select several and put them in any order in the bank. You can't even copy and paste. App is terrible and the worst part about the entire spider V line. If this was the 15w student bedroom amp, I would give them a pass on the app. V120 and V240 are gigging amps. 60 maybe as well. App is not set up at all for a gigging musician.

Yeah, they need to make a sticky for this. I bet it gets hundreds or more responses. Every person I have talked with about the amps are either puzzled, or become disinterested when they discover it does not have computer editors (when every other brand does). Boss, BlackStar, Vox all do. Marshall Code did not have a computer editor, and it is Bluetooth designed. They did create pc and mac versions within a month or so after their users and potential customers responded HUH?? No editor for computers? No thanks. Let's hope Line 6 has this on their priority list. Not everyone goes to Ideascale, and then some that do have issues finding the topic, create a new one or don't bother.

Not really. This is one of my biggest beefs with it. Not having the ability to save your own files in your own folders and manage your own workflow. You either add it to the my tones area, cloud or unit itself. I just went through this hassle setting up my 240 for gigging. Sounded great but to prep took a long long time. I'm in 3 bands so I have to manage different set orders each week. It's a real PITA and could be so much simpler. Keep pressing the Ideascale site for a Win /Mac editor. Should simplify things a great deal. This was I believe made off the Firehawk type apps, but those are bluetooth. Spider V amp is not BT capable so the app doesn't make much sense. Not only is the app glitchy, but often times I even have to reboot the amp to get connected. Then the app reports it was disconnected, then you start over. Ipad or Android tab or AmiDuos emulator on Surface Pro 3. They all have the same app problems. Go to Ideascale and vote for the computer editors for Spider V.

Which is really good is you use stereo fx! I like having the note value vs tap a tempo speed. I can see where it can cause confusion though. Many higher end units use note value on delys taps too.
-
Tried that myself the other day. It will not stream both the input source and the amp source. I'm not sure if that is a USB problem or other. I just run like the other amps and record the live amp into a sperate mixer which has the other source music on its own channels. For video, I can mix that as live or add a blend of live and direct board sound. Headphone sound is kind of buzzy. I don't care for it. I've used Senn 280, 7506 and ATH50's and they are about the same, so it's not the headphones.

Instead of having many of these "app for pc/mac" topics every other day, why not just create a Sticky of this one so people don't have to create 10 topics a week about the need for a computer app. Leave the sticky open for comments. Not everyone posting are aware of or even wanting to take extra time to hunt down the Ideascale areas. For users going to Ideascale to vote for the computer app: Search "Spider V" then locate "Spider V Computer Interface" and vote from there. Don't just create a new request. (I think it should have been "Spider V computer editor" since users may confuse interface with audio interface) If you look up "Spider V computer app" for ex: you'll get HELIX Offline Firmware Update as a result which makes no sense. Some other user pointed this out to me and said they were having a tough time searching Ideascale and gave up.

They really do need to have computer versions of the editor. Just for patch editing and off line storage. I don't need all the other stuff or a bloated computer version. I just want to edit with a computer (mac or win) especially when recording. I don't want to have to be in multiple OS. I also like a computer editor for organization. If I have a Marshall, or Fender preset, I'd like a Marshall and Fender Folder etc. My computer and DAW are setup like that for Cab impulse responses and Amp Models. I like having that organization rather than everything in one basket. Aids in having better and more consistent workflow. Spider V App does not provide that same workflow. The Spider V APP is too limited. You can't customize WHERE you save files because those file areas are buried in the app and not accessible. Many of us have put requests into IDEASCALE as suggested by Line 6 mods. With enough votes, hopefully we'll get them soon. Other users have asked for the API so they can create a Win version. IOW, give us the basic outline and we'll create one ourselves. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/community/login

Spider V Remote app - how do you know which is you latest file?
guitardad123 replied to a topic in Spider V
Seems to have a 24 preset limit on "My Tones" within the App. Once you reach that #24, app won't save any more edits. Ugghhhh Unit has 100+ presets but the Spider Rem App limits to 24 user presets. And another reason they need a Windows or Mac version of the editor. On those, you could simple save as many preset files to any location on a HDD you wanted to. So many great things about the Spider V lineup, but the App really is lacking. -
For those with ASUS TF series: you will need this- https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-Adapter-Cable-Transformer-ASDCOTG/dp/B00H52FIIA/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1483830827&sr=1-1&keywords=StarTech.com+USB+OTG+Adapter+Cable+for+ASUS+Transformer+Pad+%28ASDCOTG%29

Go to Line 6 IDEASCALE and vote for WIN /Mac Editor. This will solve so many issues with editing. I have talked to so many people with Android or older gen Ipads that don't work. Instead of buying a new tablet to use the editor, they return the amp. This is really silly LIne 6 does not have a Win/ Mac editor for these products. My friend works at SamAsh. Their big return item is the Spider V. Biggest reason of all is not having a Win or Mac editor. Not all customers have tablets, nor do they want to buy any. Add the OTG cables/adapters and you can see where the frustration comes from. This is one of many posts already asking about OTG connectors or cables accy's to get a tablet to work.

Disconnect the FBV and see if the amp returns to normal. If it does, then the FBV or cable could be the problem and loading down something in the amp. If not, Send the amp back and get a replacement from the store. None of that is normal imo. G10T won't cause that problem. These units have warranties, and some will have problems. Warranties over a year or so time should weed out most of the faulty units. More amps like these will have faults early on. If you have not tried a firmware update, you can see if that works or not. I have not heard of any problems like you describe though being corrected with firmware. The problem you describe is more internal imo.

He has a second demo Marshall JCM900 from what it seems. Sounds great. Sorry I called him a kid. He's quite the experienced man when it comes to modeling.
-
Some may work, but others you will have to tweak up. Different guitars and all when they are created don't always translate 100%. Other products have differing systems too, so you have to account for that as well. I always find the custom sounds from users get you in the area, then you just work the model, cab, and post eq for your rig.
-
Disconnect the FBV and see what happens.
-
1- No not really, but those are mostly clean ch amps and you shape the sound with post eq. I think there are several on the custom areas 2-It's on all the time. It's how you get varying cab models to coincide with a flat response amplifier. Most users buy external amps or powered speakers when they use modeling gear. This is an all inclusive setup. The tweeter is quieter than a compression driver on a powered pa cab. 3- Fine, the best part is it is not distracting. Is it as high a bandwidth of a stereo hi fi? I wouldn't say so, but the drums, and devices played through it are quite nice. 4- Yes, but you may have to tweak for the type pickups, size of acoustic guitar body just as you would a PA system mixer and speakers.

I don't think it is.

This kid has some keen tweaking skills. Best Boogie patch I have ever heard on a Spider V. Store demos don't sound like this !
-
If you replace the 12" spk, use one that is full range. I read somewhere else that a good one for the amp is Eminance 12 LTA. It's a wide band speaker. Modeling forum has some that have made powered cabs for floor modeling boards. They use some stereo amp in a Seismic cab that looked like the Genz Benz. It was ported and they used 2 of the Eminance Beta 12's.

I have not heard many complaints about newer Galaxy phones, but I know plenty having connection loss issues no matter what phone they have. Others say tablets work, some tablets don't. My iPad 4 worked but the old 2 did not. A $70 Digiton Android tablet with 4.4 worked, but the app lost connection too, Android 6 is buggey.

How many hours does the Battery last on Spider V Wireless?
guitardad123 replied to KennyFenderstrat's topic in Spider V
Mine ran 7 hrs before it died. It will last a gig no problem. Mine gets plugged in when I start staging my gear which takes an hour. We get an hr or more after we set up to chill and relax. 2 hrs is plenty of time to charge the g10t
