  1. On many of the synth fx it is better to run a moderate mix level. Use more of a cleaner amp model to drive those. Add gain by using a distortion or overdrive option before the amp model in the preset. Some of the synthy effects are too weird for me. Might work for other players. I also like the Whammy effect. You can also use more than one modulation, synth, delay in a preset. For my presets that do, I use FX3 and FX4 in many combinations. Those with nice ethereal reverbs active can be fun.
  2. Too much gain= thinner sound. Use more of a crunch distortion I've learned to use the Post EQ to tone shape. It works best when defining your final sound. FX options. Depends on the music style. Some go very wet fx levels and some are dry or low mix levels. Which FX are you using that give you bad sounding FX on chords?
  3. The firmware update for the tuner fix should have been at the top of the FBV3 area and pinned. I would have pinned it here too since the problems are relative to Spider V. Good thing some have answered your question and hopefully solved the problem. Yes, the "Function" switch for the Looper is in a really bad spot. The Looper works good for me to jam at home, but for using Live?, the position is very awkward and unfriendly to larger feet. Use an external Carbon Copy or similar if need be. There is a FBV software tool, but I am not sure it will provide means to change switch options for Spider V control. I haven't tried it. It is at the FBV3 downloads section. Probably good idea to check the Line 6 updater too. http://line6.com/software/index.html There is no denying that Katana support in Both Community effort and Factory has been 1000x better than anything I have seen in Spider V or Firehawk combined (support at Ideascale is Nil in factory response, but is there to post ideas fwiw) .Spider V seems to be a amp you buy and it remains as is. A couple bug fixes maybe. Don't expect much more. I kind of had the same disappointment after spending $850 on the amp, wireless trans, and FBV3. If you want continued support then Helix has a better community. That is where Line 6 factory support seems to be greater as well. This forum isn't much, but there a few of us trying to help. It's about as active as BlackStar Amp ID forums. Katana is a cool amp, but there are many things I feel overhyped by their following. Hidden amp models is one of them. Spider V is based on Amp and Cab models of branded type amps. Katana is not. Yes, the Spider V community and product support is a mere morsel compared to Boss Katana's. Katana has less, but has a more inspired group of community and factory persons wanting to improve upon it. Spider V is WYSIWYG, that includes the unit, the app, anything else. No manuals, no Win or Mac editors, and no expected add on's.
  4. Win and Mac editors would have made more sense. Look I'm mobile! with a cord
  5. Contact the dealer and see if they'll exchange it. Why are they replacing everything instead of finding the problem. Did it power on and have led? Did it have sound in the headphones? Sounds like they are shotgunning parts.
  6. There's a great deal of headroom in the amp. Post EQ to boost and shape the tone. I did the same with other modeling products. It really helps any modeler. You can boost all frq's the same, but as any boost, it can change the final output. Change the post eq as needed to get the level you want, but to also reshape the sound at that new level. It's not really a linear thing in my experience.
  7. But the other side is, if they make computer editors, they satisfy many customers of the Spider V, Amplifi products, and Firehawk. All of which have placed many requests for the computer editors. I agree though, that that is not going to happen, nor will the API be released. These products will live or die based on what is provided. Spider is being outsold in my neck of woods, and a bunch have came back because there were no computer editors and no plans to create one. Some of the replies on other guitar forums are previous Spider IV owners stunned they can't use the computer for editing. They returned the V, kept their IV, and bought competitor products that had computer editors available. Helix support for tablets wouldn't be required. They can buy a wide assortment of Win tablets, Surface, and other devices that will blow away the majority of Android or iOS tablets.
  8. Use the post EQ. That will boost the vol quite a bit
  9. They keep saying you have to vote at Ideascale. The Spider remote app is very much the same as AmpliFI and Firehawk. See other threads about that. Those users requested and voted over 1000x for Win & Mac editors for a year and counting. Nothing. Get used to what is provided regardless of the issues or use the front panel. That's our answer thus far.
  10. Brit 900 for the DSL. Try different cabs. Use post eq to shape final tone. You can really stretch the tone with that post eq. HRD, I would try the BMan as sugg above. Dial your amps as you do IRL to an actual amp. Add post eq to final shape the tone.
  11. Alot of users have rooted tablets to figure things out. Key problem in some developer minds are the ways the app compile presets in the app as one mega file. App designers have said they should have used a different allocation method. User files are hidden in the app. You have to be rooted to see them. From what I remember they are using a Win program called AmiDuos. Running 6.0 rooted. When rooted, your files will be your user name as a header for "db" files. You can't see the local folders on non rooted tablets or emulators. I think there are some of these guys coming up with a different apk. I hope so. Line 6 has used the same basic app since the Amplifi and Firehawks. Those users have complained about remote app for a couple years already, and many posted wishlist for Win and Mac editors. Nothing in the works on computer based editors for those guys for over a year or two. This is it. Anything more would take outside users to develop on their own.
  12. Yes, it should work, but to get all the goodies and fsw feedback, the FBV3 isn't much more expensive. I also thought I read somewhere that the former FBV's may have some missing functionality, and or the midi assignment software isn't compat. I'm not exactly sure though. Just what I read in another forum
  13. I wouldn't think so. The Spider app is Android or iOS and that Amazon adapter only supports Win, Linux, Rasberry Pi. No Apple product support listed. If you used a laptop with an Android emulator it might work, but that is yet another issue in itself since emulators have their own caveats. Apple uses it's own non standardized BT protocol so many of these BT adapters are not supported. That's a proprietary Apple issue though.
  14. What he has said is really a common sentiment, and not just here but many other forums. This amp is taking a beating over the editor App. Line 6 can't confirm or solve the problems users are having on multiple devices, certain brand phones and tablets. Seems not too many users want to go shopping for a tablet that may work or not. People are returning these based on the app issues. That's too bad because the amp is really cool.
  15. Can you be more specific? I assume the app runs, you just want some usage instruction This link is for Amplifi, minus the Bluetooth stuff and some appearance, the Spider Remote App is basically the same thing functionally
  16. I think some people are not as used to the actual modeling aspects of this line. I posted a guide a few short clicks up (post #17) from a guy that made some Spider V 240 videos. It works very well.
  17. That would only happen with a defective rotary encoder.
  18. Over 1000 votes for computer editors on Amplifi and it never happened. I think you may be correct in the assumption Spider V Remote is all we'll see. Difference however is that Amplifi was made for mobile. The OP and many other complain they have to be tethered to a phone or tablet which makes no sense for any MOBILE based products. Spider V Amps are 5 different levels for consumers. Amplifi was 2 versions. When you look at what reached "complete stage" at Ideascale you won't see much. Almost everything is "in review" I bet Spider V computer app request could get 2500 votes and still not see any action taken. Consumers come here and find so many topics with app related problems. Your link suggests that Line 6 is OK with alienating 2/3 of consumers. To me that is pretty dumb decision making.
  19. What specifically is not working? Connection? Remote app unavailable? Shutting Down?
  20. I ran a Vetta II for 5 years. The SpiderV240 tech is about as good imo. Vetta had more functional control options, but the Spider V amps have a nice variety of amps and effects.

    USB Interface

After you have the USB driver installed, you need to set up the Cubase interface options. This video should be similar You should have drivers for the XR18, and the Line 6 USB device After the interface is setup, then you can create new projects. To record a track, you have to assign the track input to the interface device. For the XR18, you do the same thing. What you cannot do is have the XR18 and the Line 6 interface active together.
  22. OP is only reiterating problems of many that bought the amp. I disagree with the mannerism of the reply Appears not as many people are too thrilled with the suggestion of "buy a large tablet" as an option when they already have a computer they use. Many dislike using their phones for the app. Then the ongoing disconnects, and devices that do not work properly even after buying new tablets. If I were Line 6 I would be thinking; Instead of our consumers buying new tablets to run our mobile editor, lets create a Win and Mac editor so this way our consumer can use that $100-150 they would spend on a generic android tablet towards Line 6 accessories like an FBV3, or G10T. OP and others have been told to go to Ideascale and vote for PC editors since Oct. Most dislike that answer to a very big problem.
  23. 87 votes and counting for computer (Win Mac) editors (in combined topics) Keep voting!! But use this link so not to litter the Ideascale area with similar topics. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Spider-V-Computer-Interface/859001-23508
