If you're using the Helix as your audio interface would there be any reason you would need to purchase Helix Native? This may be a nub question and I apologize if it is.

This is all really great input. I appreciate it. What are you using for synth or piano stuff? I don't currently have either and was wondering if the DAW's come with those and you can use your computer keyboard to work them. Remember, I'm a total nub when it comes to recording and DAW's. I have downloaded Reaper and ProTools First. I'm undecided on which one I'll pursue over the other. Any advise you can offer on this would be helpful to me. I would most likely have electric guitar, acoustic, bass, piano, keyboards (synth) and drums in just about every song and of course, vocals.

I'm just curious what everybody's favorite DAW is and which Audio Interface you're using and the results. I've never delved into the "recording" arena but I've written several songs I feel are quite good and would like to lay them down. Any feedback would be appreciated. -Ron

I have never been able to use the Vintage Digital Delay. I always get some kind of distortion with that pedal. L6 told me that I have my outputs up too loud. I turned them all down so I could barely hear my patch and it still distorted. My output level shouldn't matter.....the pedal either works or it doesn't and since it is the only pedal doing this I would assume it is a flaw. Anybody else having this issue with this pedal?

Hey, Glenn.....where in the frequency spectrum would you recommend the boost? I've always thought that cutting is better than boosting when it comes to EQ. I'm curious what your opinion is when it comes to electric guitar and cutting through the mix. -Ron

While the new Reverbs in 2.6 are an improvement over the original release they are still not in the same league as Strymon. Maybe one day L6 will have verbs that are very similar to Strymon.....I would like to see that, too! But for now.....you'll either need to add your Strymon pedal to the effects loop or just use what the Helix offers.

I agree with you. I've never had anything but great service no matter what my issue was. What I'm saying is that if line6 told him they don't sell parts you kind of have to respect that. I think they may have done him a favor. If they sold him the part and he made things worse tring to fix it himself it would then cost him more to make it right. We just need to trust that they know what is best on their machines. They are there to help and if he felt they got rude maybe it was because they felt they had to. I've never seen them anything but eager to help....if they werent then maybe it was him. That's all I'm saying.

I'm sorry your Helix is broken but you need to understand that warrantees expire and stuff breaks. This is not the fault of line6 or the fact that your warranty expired. I hope nothing goes wrong with my unit but I understand that it could break at any time and for any reason.....warrantee or not. Why does everybody feel the need to blame someone when they've been inconvenienced? Respectfully, sometimes crap just happens and the way you choose to respond says more about you than it does anything else. Don't be a hater.....just get it fixed and move on.

The absolute worst soundguys are in churches. I've honestly NEVER had good sound when playing in church. Most of them are comprised of people that volunteer because nobody else wants to do it and they have no idea what they are doing. When you tell them you're not being heard in the mix they just turn you up. Then somebody else can't be heard because you're so loud and they turn them up and then you have really loud mud. They know absolutely nothing about eq or compression or high pass filters or where each instrument lies in the sound spectrum. It's very frustrating. I admit I can't run sound either even though I know a thing or two about it.....but I wouldn't even dream of volunteering to run sound and I've been around music my entire life.

My Helix died after two weeks of owning it. I am in the US but I can say Line 6 stands behind their products. They will take care of you for sure. They are keenly aware of the price tag of their units and that people gig with them and/or play in churches so they fix them quickly. Like MonkeyXT said....please keep us posted.

Amps can be very limiting for most of us. If you're in a cover band or P&W team you need LOTS of flexibility and lots of options and the Helix provides that. If you're in a professional band playing your own songs then I can understand using a regular amp. Professional bands have their own sound and rarely require more than two different amps for all their songs. For the rest of us, though, we need more flexibility and options than that and amp modelers are the answer.

Datacommando is 100% correct. If you try to only download the Updater it won't work. You need to download HX edit first and the Updater comes with it. Everything should go very smoothly after that. Once you do that let us know and we can tell you how to upload and download patches. It's all very simple!

I also agree with cruisinon2. I spend too much time now getting my sounds the way I want them. I don't need to add another item that will make it more difficult and time consuming to get a great tone.

I set it up the same way and I am experiencing the same thing as described. I have used this effect before in a song and it didn't behave this way previously. I would assume there is a bug. Orjay, have you used a reverse delay before? Not this one but an external pedal.

I haven't had to adjust anything when playing outside either. However, if any of your presets were using the new reverbs from the previous update you'll want to tweak all of those because the latest update made those same reverbs MUCH wetter. Other than that you should be good to go!

Cruisinon2 is spot on with his answers. I would like to add that if you're just making the leap into digital modeling you might be disappointed or even frustrated at first. Don't give up and don't allow yourself to 2nd guess your purchase. If you've used 1 amp and the same pedals for years digital modeling isn't the same thing as plugging in your amp and having all your pedals ready to go until you know how to use it. While the Helix does sound great right out of the box every player I've ever known is a "tone" junkie (digital modelers or the real thing) and will never use an "out of the box" tone. You need to be prepared to spend a lot of time learning how to tweak and how everything works. There is no shortage of video's to help and there is a lifetime of information in this forum. I'm not trying to be negative at all or discourage you from making the purchase.....but $1200 is a lot of money and I would hate to see anybody spend that kind of money just to make it easier to go to your gig. The Helix is absolutely great but does require patience. Most of the haters I've seen never really gave it time to get used to a new way of getting to the same end result - a great friggin' tone with more options then you'll ever need. Good luck!
