I don't think that was the point of his posting anyways. lasvideo... didn't you just post that you cancelled your Helix order? Then why troll folks on the helix forum that are genuinely trying to use it for what it's meant for? Many of us here have been waiting for videos just like this. Thanks a ton MrcdBoston!

Yeah that's exactly what I am wondering as since I use these things live, I need to know what they will sound like coming out of FRFR cabs. I think it's been a consensus for awhile that people seem to have a hell of a lot easier time getting great sounds out of the PODs through USB. I've heard some amazing stuff come from my own 500x when going through USB with very little tweaking, not as amazing when going live thru my PA cabs though. As everyone else is saying, I am really hoping that this is the kind of system that can be hooked up, tweak a few amp knobs and have a really nice sound from the raw model... then start playing with all the buzzes and whistles.

Yeah, I gotta agree on that. The only thing I am curious about is was that a live sound coming out of FRFR PA cabs or was that direct into a PC. I am really hoping that was coming out of FRFRs cuz I use my 500x almost exclusively live.

Yup, all very true. Just reiterating what was told to me. Me personally I am salivating over hearing what all you guys say about it when y'all finally get to play with it so I can make my decision on whether it's worth the upgrade from my 500x.

Well I'll toss my two cents in on this one. Just got off the phone with sweetwater a little while ago ordering a mixer and happened to get on the topic of the Helix and when the different versions were going to be available. I heard the same thing that it seems a lot of you heard. 1st part of October is when the rep I talked to said they are expecting to see them for both the floor and rack model. Take it for what you will. Personally I hope SOME of you guys get it before then as I am waiting on the reviews from y'all before I pull the trigger on mine.

You ever seen someone get that mega drool going on after eating a super sour lemon head or something of the like? Yeaaaah, I'm totally there right now. They really need a trade-in trade up program.

Yeah I was talking about the physical speakers, so FRFR speakers then, I expected as much. That's awesome, so I can expect a very similar sound if (and most likely when) I pull the trigger on this one.

You can certainly give that a shot, the XLR outputs are quieter than the unbalanced ones but unless you have something freaky going on with the preset it sounds like you have a bad unit. Have you tried using a completely blank patch?

Finally a good demo of some of the high gain amps. That uber and dual rectifier sounded effin awesome! I just wish they would have shown what speaker set they had that running into.

Even though you are correct, ultimately it is the responsibility of the 3rd party to provide solid and properly functioning drivers for a new OS, lets be honest... if you know anything about Microsoft history, they have a very bad track record for pushing out an OS before it is really ready. Back when I used to work on PCs for a living, it always used to be a rule of thumb to stay away from a new Microsoft OS until the first service pack came out unless you were a tech and knew how to solve problems. I just recently took a Toshiba Satellite and upgraded it to 10 and had all kinds of driver issues. Many of them USB and network related. Right after the install my USB stuff, including my pod worked perfect. A few reboots later, no USB device worked at all. As I am typing this, I am vaguely remembering this being an issue with windows 8 also when it first came out... hmmm. Anyway, windows 10 also had horrible drivers for my on-board Realtech sound card, it made any audio coming out of literally sound like it was coming out of a tin can. Even though I probably could hunt down solutions for these issues, that many issues popping up on the first day on a PC that I know works great on windows 7 led me to opt to return to windows 7. I don't think 10 is ready, at least not for the music world.

It would have except the Custom tone website is nowhere as keyword friendly. That website used to be so much more user friendly than it is now... maybe they need to move to the HX version of that too... :D

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle... That actually does work kind of. I just installed the remote on my phone and yup I can search for tones by song name and see their settings on the phone. so yeah, that combination can certainly be used to get you into the ballpark. The only issue I am seeing right off the bat is that you might not have the exact amp/effects model that it calls for. That and also you don't have the same gear that the person creating the patch had so who knows how it will sound on your gear. Still.. certainly not a bad place to start!

Do we have any idea what amp model that guy is using?? I have been waiting for a good hard rock / metal demo on the Helix. Right now I'm using an Uber / F-ball combo on my 500x and have been waiting to hear an equal or better one from the Helix. This one effin rocks!

Ah, yeah I didnt have a problem with it before when I was using a guitar cab but now with the FRs I cant get it at all. Its a shame since I play hard rock, I would like to get that controllable feedback back.

Palico, how are you intentionally introducing feedback into your patches and is it controllable? I have had my FRFR speakers up as loud as they will go moving my guitar all over the place and right up to the speakers and I can never get feedback. I would like some from time to time.

I did try that exact thing once before thinking that most lead tones I have heard are a bit more mid heavy than their rhythm counterparts. I could seem to get a good sound to it. It made it really harsh sounding.

Hey guys, just curious as what you guys use in a patch to boost for a solo. I don't want to change the tone too much (if at all) just really looking for a volume kick, and how much do you guys typically kick it up when you do? Thanks!

That's actually really cool. With my 500x I can toss together patches with a quickness on the PC but damn I look like a goober when I have to change one small thing with the POD's actual interface since I'm not as used to it. It will be nice to have a unified experience!

Hey guys, sorry to post this as I know this has been addressed in a previous post but I cant seem to locate it. Just got an electric acoustic with Fishman electronics in it and I would like to know the best combo of amps/cabs/mics for the flattest response possible. Thanks guys! P.S. I do really like dual amping, has anyone came with a really nice amp combo for an acoustic? Just for fun.

I'll throw in on this one since it was cclements original posting about the TS110s that made me head into FRFR land. I now own 2 of these guys on stands with a stereo 32 band Alesis EQ that runs between them and my pod. The sound is fantastic! I was able to go out and jam with a new drummer a few night ago for the first time since I got this setup and I could hear myself loud and clear over him. Cabs were at 50% and pod was near 100% master. The drummer could hear me plain as day as well so you know they were loud. All in all, I'm very happy with them. I did ask a pro sound guy friend of mine about upgrading to the 12s or 15s and he encouraged me to stick with 10s because (according to him) 10in speakers will always be more responsive than 12s or 15s. One small thing to note is that a 32band EQ after the pod gives you AMAZING control over your tone without sacrificing all those slots in your chain or further adding to inevitable digital sound that comes from over processing in the pod. Everyone rants over the tone that I have now and that is such a nice place to be in comparison to 6 months ago.
