About DL4 MK2
silverhead replied to peter8858's topic in DL4 MkII / DL4 / MM4 / DM4 / FM4 / AM4 / ToneCore
I’m not aware of any that operates over USB as is typical for Line 6 device editors. However the manual describes how you can use MIDI to control parameters. Check that out if you want details. -
Can you create a preset that is bypass so you can use stomp box pedals only?
silverhead replied to szwakyd's topic in POD Go
If I understand correctly,… 1) Put your distortion and compressor between your guitar and the POD Go Input, and use FX Loop for your sitar and chorus; OR 2) Put your sitar and chorus between the POD GO Main Out and and the amp Return; OR 3) Do both of the above. The physical setup can be quite flexible. Experiment! -
I suspect the issue may be at the Input, not Output. What type of mic are you using - dynamic or condenser? What type of cable/adapter are you using for it?
-
I leave the amp models as they were but I have converted my go-to presets to the new cab engine. When new amp models are released I try them out and if I like a particular one I will create a new go-to preset for it. Sometimes this will knock a previous go-to preset down to a lower spot in the pecking order.

Certainly it’s feasible. There is a wide variety of vocal processors available in different budget ranges from different manufacturers. If you haven’t already done some googling I would start there. Once you’ve narrowed things down we can help you make a final decision and advise you on how best to set it up and operate using Helix.

Just to elaborate on what @brue58ski said. It’s a very basic looper. It will not recognize your tapping as any sort of beat, nor assign any resulting tempo. It will simply record the audio created by your tapping.
-
I expect so. The looper will record everything - including silence - between the Start and Stop taps. Presumably your tapping will generate audio picked up by whatever mic or pickup your guitar is using.
-
Sorry - I didn’t see that in the manual. I don’t own either device so can’t really help with your question. Others?

Can you create a preset that is bypass so you can use stomp box pedals only?

Have you tried creating a POD Go preset with all the blocks bypassed (turned off) except the FX Loop? I don’t have my POD Go handy to try this, but here’s a snip from the POD Go Edit manual: Bypassing Blocks To toggle the bypass of any Preset or Effects type block - do any of the following: • Hover your mouse cursor over a block within the Signal Flow and use the Bypass button that appears above the block. • Right-click on the block and choose Bypass from the context menu. • Click on the desired block to select it, then use the Bypass button within the Edit tab. • Click on the desired block to select it and hit the Spacebar. • A block’s bypass state, by default, is also stored and recalled with each Snapshot (see “Configuring & Managing Snapshots” on page 14). The description doesn’t specify any exceptions so presumably it applies to amp and cab blocks as well. -
As described above, there’s really no way to get identical sound for a multitude of reasons, including the large space of the church vs. the much smaller space of your home setup. But the best way to get as close as you can is to use FRFR at home.

No. All editing/changes to presets, amps, and FX in POD Express must be done manually using the knobs and buttons on the device. There is no external control.

Based on what I can see of your right hand in the video, this behaviour is normal depending on your Global Settings-> Footswitches assignments. If you have FS3 set to the default Tap/Tuner assignment, and you also have the Stomp Select set to the default Touch, then when the side of your hand touches FS3 as you rotate the knobs, it activates the Tempo or Tuner display. Read the manual description to discover your options and experiment to decide what settings work best for you. To test this, make sure your right hand does not touch FS3 as you rotate the knobs. The symptom and your annoyance should disappear.

Not with Helix. The Variax does that.

I would use the 4 Cable Method (4CM) as described in the HX FX manual, in the ’Hooking It All Up’ section. This allows you to use some of your HX FX models before the CX in the signal path (e.g. OD, Comp), and some after the CX (e.g. MOD, Reverb, Delay). On the CX, set the Return switch to the Power Amp setting. You can use the HX FX models in conjunction with the CX FX models as well if you wish. Give it a read and experiment. It can be confusing at first so don’t hesitate to come back with questions.

What version is the driver you’re using? Did your download the Windows 8 compatible version?

Big volume difference between Helix LT and Stomp XL
silverhead replied to badgerbaj's topic in Helix
Sorry. I may be naive about it but not being facetious. I just don’t see the problem. A curiosity, yes. Just not something I would be inclined to spend time on. I’d just twist a VOL knob and be done with it. -
POD XT Live & FRFR Speaker question
silverhead replied to voliminalsf's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
Since your IR loader replaces a mic/cab model in the XT I would treat it like you are connecting to just the cab section of an external guitar amp. Try selecting an Output setting to match that setup. -
Big volume difference between Helix LT and Stomp XL
silverhead replied to badgerbaj's topic in Helix
I’m wondering whether the difference in volume levels is actually a problem. First, I assume the difference is noted when both devices have the overall device volume at max, or ‘unity’. I also assume that even if that’s true, you could lower the device master volume on the louder one to equalize them. What am I missing? Do we expect every device from every manufacturer to be equally ‘loud’? Is there some industry standard I’m not aware of? -
Just to clarify - if you used the discount to purchase Helix Native you can't sell your LT and retain your HN incense before a specific time period (90 days? 180 days? - look it up in the Helix Native FAQs.) This is for an obvious reason - people buying a Helix product, using it only to buy the discounted Helix Native product, then immediately returning the Helix device for full refund.
-
You are correct. Your license is yours, not attached to the device. The device allowed a discounted price which is now not available to the new owner.
-
Can you confirm that you have tried recording both a dry and wet track simultaneously using your HX Stomp as the audio interface? This was suggested earlier by @schmalle but I haven’t seen a direct response to this. Then import the preset you recorded the wet track with into Helix Native and apply it to the dry track. Compare result, adjusting levels if required.

Also check the Global Settings levels (Line/Instrument) in your HX Stomp Input and Output. In particular make sure the Output setting matches the expected input level of your speakers.
