  1. It sounds like you may need to activate the Control Bar view in Cakewalk (see the Views tab at the top line menu items of Cakewalk). Also. if you already have a dry guitar track recorded you just need to insert the Helix Native plugin on the track (see the FX item associated with the track) and playback (not record) the track. There's no need to record another track (the #7 step you quoted above).
  2. 1. Yes 2. The Line 6 multi-FX processors compatible with the Variax Standard are the POD HD 500X and ProX, and Helix Rack/Floor/LT. 3. All of the Helix models.
  3. First, can you confirm that Cakewalk is working and that you are able to record and play back a guitar track? If so, record a dry (unprocessed) guitar track to use as the basis for getting Helix Native to work. Are you familiar with plug-in processing in a DAW, in this case Cakewalk? Are you able to insert other plugins in your dry guitar track? After confirming the above we can work on the specifics of Helix Native.
  4. From the manual: ”Typically, a cable adapter is required for connecting to mobile devices, such as an Apple Camera Connect Kit for lightning-equipped iOS devices, or a USB OTG adapter. All adapters are sold separately. Please refer to your mobile device manufacturer’s recommendations and instructions for connecting USB accessories.” Lots of other useful info in there too…. Just sayin’.
  5. Your cabling is incorrect. You should be running the POD Go Amp Out to your amp’s FX Return and your Main Out to the mixer. Not sure that explains the feedback but it is the proper cabling. In POD Go Global Settings -> Ins/Outs set Amp Out Source to Pre Cab/IR (see manual pg 42).
  6. Glad you got it worked out. But perhaps you should be more cautious about connecting power to electronic devices. Sounds like you connected things together without checking compatibility or requirements. That can quickly and easily cause internal components to fry beyond repair. A crackling sound and whiff of smoke should not be the way you discover that things aren’t properly matched.
  7. I don’t have a POD Express so can’t experiment with this. I would open a support ticket to either log a bug or get instructions on how to edit and overwrite existing presets.
  8. First, make sure your HX One behaves properly when used with the Line 6 power supply that came with it. That will rule out your HX One itself as the problem. Then check the specs on your Joyo and make sure they match the HX One - 9VDC, center-negative, 2.1mm center diameter, 500mA. If the specs match and it doesn’t work there’s likely a problem with your Joyo.
  9. No, that should not be correct. You should be able to edit and overwrite any preset, anytime. Do this experiment and report back: 1. Load any one of the factory presets by following the instructions in the manual, pg 15. Play your guitar and listen to the tone. Change some of the parameters that should result in an audible change in tone. Do you hear the tone change? If not, tell us which factory preset you chose and which parameters you changed. 2. If the tone changes as you tweak parameters, save the modified preset to a new preset location (1-21) by following the instructions in the manual, pg 16. 3. Turn your POD Express off, then on again. Make sure the preset you saved in the previous step is active. 4. As in Step 1, play your guitar and listen to the tone. Change some of the parameters that should result in an audible change in tone. Do you hear the tone change? If so, you have just demonstrated that you are able to do what I understand you were having trouble with. If you wish save the modified preset again, overwriting the earlier modifications. If the tone does not change open a support ticket; it seems there’s something wrong with your device.
  10. 1. That would make no sense. The manual says this: "All preset locations can be edited and overwritten with your own settings." Please provide a step-by-step recipe for what you are doing that leads you to this conclusion. Something more concrete and specific than "adjust any parameter does nothing". We can try to replicate.
  11. It will be if you include it in the preset name. The display shows the preset name, not the amp. The amp is implicit in the combination of the Amp type and Group parameters
  12. Did you purchase the hardware independent version of POD Farm, separate from your UX2 purchase? If not your license may be tied to the UX2 and will not work with your Presonus. If you need to repurchase POD Farm there may be a discounted upgrade pricing from your current version/license.
  13. Why? Seems to me the obvious answer is to use multiple presets during the service.
  14. Make sure you have assigned the Key and Scale parameters to the Snapshot controller. To do this on the Helix device, quickly press and rotate the knob associated with those parameters. The values will appear in brackets when properly assigned.
  15. You can’t move and install patches. Each device has its own edit program for that.
  16. You don’t need to go through them all. Just download and install HX Edit v3.71 and follow the instructions.
  17. I’ve just reviewed some of those manuals and can find no mention of this so I’m just going by memory here…. I seem to recall that these modellers had a ring of small LEDs encircling the knob. As you physically rotated the knob these lights would track the movement to indicate the associated parameter value, min to max. Of course when you saved a preset the parameter values are stored. When you recalled the preset the LEDs showed the stored parameter values, ignoring the physical knob position. Of course, physically moving the knob engaged the LED tracking again but the stored value remained unless you saved the preset.
  18. I suspect it has to do with different input signal levels being received in POD Farm, which means different output levels being sent by the UX1 and your DI box. Investigate this and make sure the DI box is sending the same output signal level (probably instrument level) as the UX1. Also, once you’ve got the same levels for comparison, ask yourself if the DI box is actually producing the ‘best possible’ signal level. Can you tell the difference?
  19. Two things come to mind: 1) see Global Settings, pg5, Preset Select. Set this to Load rather than the default Instant. Your list of presets won’t be heard as you cycle through them in Preset mode. The selected preset will only be heard when you press the ON switch. See manual pg 28. 2) You can bypass the HX One (turn an FX off) by pressing the ON switch. See manual pg 9.
  20. Open a support ticket.
  21. Personally I think 15 years for a piece of electronics is a pretty long life. Are you ‘put off’ all electronic gear, then? Good luck if you expect more than that from any other manufacturer.
  22. Yes, with active inputs you might like the Guitar In Pad turned ON. See Global Settings -> Ins/Outs.
