Glad you got it sorted, and thanks for the kind words. Helix and Variax interaction behaviours can be tricky. I’ve been mystified at times by interactions of the Don’t Force setting particularly when switching presets, or when the alt tuning knob is not set to Standard. And it doesn’t help that the documented behaviour of the Don’t Force setting is different from the actual behaviour. Using the Vol/Tone knobs as Helix FX block parameter controllers can also get confusing. Helix and Variax make a very powerful combination but it can get complicated.

It shouldn’t matter since they are combo jacks, but if using instrument cables use TRS as prescribed. Have you considered using the L6 Link connection?
-
Are you sure you have the desired Variax parameters (Model, Tuning) assigned to the Snapshot controller? You should see white brackets around the values. Also when editing Snapshots you need to either Save the preset before you leave each modified Snapshot, or have the Global Settings -> Preferences -> Snapshot Edits set to Recall. Forgive me for asking but sometimes it’s the silliest things ….. You do have the Variax connected to the Helix with a VDI cable, right?
-
It could be a cabling issue. First, check and confirm that all of your cables are working by connecting your guitar directly to your amp with one cable, swapping it out 4 times. Then proceed to a 2-cable setup, with the HX One between your guitar and your amp, so Guitar -> HX One L/Mono input -> HX One L/Mono output -> amp guitar input. After everything above has been tested check to make sure that your 4 cables are connected exactly as shown in the HX One manual pg. 8. Note that the HX One output going to the amp guitar input is different than in the 2-cable setup.

In the Input block, the Variax tab, make sure the Variax setting is Preset, not Global. Strangely this is a global setting although it is modifiable in every preset.

Visually inspect the pins inside the Host jack and the connecting cable. This connection is a regular RJ-45 type that’s also used in a VDI (Variax) connection. Sometimes the pins get bent, causing problems. If you see anything out of alignment you can create a J-hook tool out of a twisty wire and straighten the pins out again. The hook just has to be thin enough to get between the pins and strong enough to lift/bend the pins without pulling them out. You could also test the cable by temporarily using a regular RJ-45 cable. If you discover that the problem is just the cable you can replace it.

Seems like it’s not an HX stomp tone. It seems to requires more DSP than the Stomp is capable of. Do you know the origins of this preset?
-
Yes the file extensions are the same and so you can drag/drop a hardware incompatible preset into HX Edit. That would be trapped by HX Edit which would fail to load the preset/file, and would probably generate the error message above - or something similar.

I’m confused by your mention of the Amplitube ASIO driver. You should be using the POD Go ASIO driver and configuring Amplitube to use the POD Go inputs and outputs. I think that may be what you are actually doing. If so, your use of USB 3/4 as the Input is correct - the dry guitar signal. Try changing your Amplitube Ouptut to use POD Go USB 1&2. If you are still hearing the POD Go processing, use an empty preset - remove or bypass all processing blocks.
-
Yes, that’s possible. That’s why I asked earlier if he had created the preset on the device he’s using when reporting the issue here. But as head been pointed out he’s probably no longer watching here. I just thought I’d answer your question.
-
Yes to all questions. Connect your POD Go to your PC via USB. Make sure you have the POD Go drivers installed - you will have done so by installing POD Go Edit.

Please describe why you think it’s related to DSP overload. Was there some sort of error message? Did you create the presets on the same Helix device that they have disappeared on? As @MGW-Alberta says, you normally cannot create a preset that causes DSP overload. The DSP nanny is there to prevent that by greying out the block selections that would cause it. The actual issue may be something else entirely.

Like Glenn DeLaune patches for Helix?
silverhead replied to aaron__aardvark's topic in Line 6 Lounge
I like Glenn DeLaune patches too, especially his acoustic pack. (… and self-promotion still doesn’t belong here. Please keep it in the Lounge, as you have been doing since I last requested, and continue to do with this same song…)- 1 reply

Update on what, exactly?
-
1) Did you restore the Global Settings after updating the firmware? The update resets the Globals to the default values and perhaps has affected your external pedal settings. 2) Yes. Assign the same footswitch to control Bypass of both Vol and Wah FX blocks, and then Save the preset with one block active and the other bypassed. Henceforth a press of the switch toggles between the pedals. Similarly, assign the same EXP pedal to control the sweep of both FX blocks.

If you are using Helix over USB as the audio interface to your DAW on Windows you can’t also have your keyboard recognized over USB. On Mac it may be different; I believe you can define something called an aggregate device that will allow you to do that. On Windows, assuming your Helix device can process dual paths and dual inputs and also assuming that you are using a guitar although you don’t mention it, you can use your guitar as input for Path 1 and two of the Helix Return jacks as input for Path 2, with your keyboard’s analog stereo outputs connected to the Helix Return inputs. You can optionally use some FX to further process your keyboard on Path 2 but you can also keep Path 2 empty of FX to allow your unprocessed keyboard audio to appear at the Helix outputs (your monitors).

Glad to hear it! Enjoy.

Can you receive a Facetime call at that number? Please give me your email address so we can take this offline.I don't want to make a regular phone call 'cuz I'm in Canada and would incur long distance charges.

pairing Pairing the FBV3 with Line 6 Modelers

I don’t own the HX One to test, but reading the manual suggests that you can do what you want using the 4 Cable Method as described on pg8 of the manual. They key parameter for your situation is the Insert position. The Tuner on the HX One is always available using specific footswitches to activate it, so that’s not a problem. Similarly, the Noise Gate is controlled in Settings on a Global or Preset basis so that won’t be a problem. The Noise Gate is positioned at the HX One Input in the signal chain so it will apply directly to the incoming guitar signal. Then define your HX Preset to use a Delay FX and set the Insert Position to Pre. This will position the Delay FX in the amp’s FX Loop.

Have you tried downloading the firmware update file to a location on your computer and then running Line 6 Update using the 'Update from File' option? That removes the dependency on a stable internet connection during the update process.

I'm willing to have a video call with you. Let me know how I can contact you to arrange if you wish.

Presumably you have at least one of each power supplies. Read the labels on each. Are their specs identical? Are you actually having a problem with the POD Go power supply that came with the device?

POD GO, seems to be the best value for modelers, but is it?
silverhead replied to daveaphotopod's topic in POD Go
Q1: Can’t answer that without knowing what your definition of ‘super budget’ is. But don’t overthink it because…. Q2: Yes. -
HX Stomp: 2 guitars in, 2 guitars out (with separate sounds)?
silverhead replied to davepat76's topic in Helix
Yes, depending on the Helix device you get. The Helix Floor, Rack, and LT are all dual path, dual processor devices and can easily do what you want. Both paths are plenty powerful enough for an amp and numerous blocks.
