  1. Follow the installation instructions that inform you that this is a normal and expected point in the process when updating from versions prior to v2.80. Here is there relevant quote from the installation procedures: If your Helix Floor/Rack/LT is currently running firmware 3.15 or older, halfway through the update to 3.70, Helix's LCD reads "Boot Failure. Entered Update Mode!" THIS IS NORMAL. Breathe deep, everything is fine. You're almost there. HX Edit will display a message indicating the device must be reset. Click resume and wait for the second part of the update to complete. However, having not done this here is how to proceed:
  2. Not sure I understand this sentence. When Helix is set as an Output device, then it is set to receive, not send, midi information from Cubase. Perhaps you want to set it as an Input device, meaning Cubase will receive midi commands sent by Helix. If Helix is set as both an Input and Output device for Cubase then perhaps hitting the footswitch sends Cubase a command which immediately gets sent back to Helix. If both Cubase and Helix have Midi Thru set to ON, an infinite loop is created. Turn Helix/Cubase midi thru OFF (see Global Settings on Helix).
  3. When I enter the search term 'slash' with the POD Go product filter I get 25 tones from Guns 'n Roses. Try clearing your browser cache and/or cookies.
  4. What search term(s) are you using? I will try them on my device and see what happens. I see over 2,000 POD Go presets listed after selecting POD Go as the product. Pick a name from the list, and then search for it. Does it appear?
  5. Did you also update the HX Edit program to v3.70?
  6. So the lack of such pics reduces it from ‘awesome’ to what?
  7. A further detail if it helps….. Incoming audio from the cd/mp3 input is analog. It is passed directly to the analog outputs without undergoing any A/D conversion. Hence it is not available in digital format for signal processing with the POD device, nor is it available to be sent over usb.
  8. What exactly are you trying to do? Are you using Mac or Windows? In order to have your Windows computer recognize your Helix you need to have the Line 6 Helix Driver installed. I’m not sure what you mean by “the helix doesn't show on the download screen as an available device.” You can install firmware, or download preset files, to the Helix device only by using the HX Edit program. I suggest you visit the Download section of this website (see link at top of this page) and begin by downloading and installing all components of the HX Edit v3.70 software package. Then connect your Helix via USB and run the HX Edit program. Follow all prompts if an available firmware update is noted.
  9. Not to my knowledge. I am not certain about the Remote Cloud for Spider amps, but I know that preset uploads to the Customtone site (the equivalent site for other products such as Helix) are not reviewed. Anyone can upload what they want, call it what they want, and describe it as they want. As you note, this can be a problem for users who don't protect themselves by lowering the output volume of their device before loading the preset. It's always a good idea, in any circumstance. to lower the headphone or speaker volume when first listening to any new audio source. The effect you describe can happen when listening to any computer generated audio (e.g. YouTube, Spotify, ...) through your Spider amp unless you protect yourself by turning down the amp volume first.
  10. Thinking further, I know you can use Variax Mags as one Input and Variax (a model) as the other Input. So if you can accept using the magnetic pickups for one path and the custom low E model I described above then I believe you can get what you want.
  11. I’m trying to think outside the box a bit here. Each Input block, Path 1 and Path 2, has a number of Variax settings. One of them specifies a Variax Model. I don’t know if you can use two different Variax models simultaneously. But if so, you could potentially use Workbench HD to create the two models. One model would minimize Volume level of the low E string while the other model would minimize the levels of the other 5 strings and tune down the low E an octave.. I have no idea if this would work
  12. Since you know that you can adjust the string tuning individually I assume you have tried tuning only the low E string down an octave. What are you looking for that is not accomplished by this? Perhaps I’m not understanding your terminology. What do you mean by the bottom and top tracks? If by ‘tracks’ you mean Paths in the Helix preset then no, you can’t isolate a single Variax string as the Input to Path 2 and the other 5 strings as the Input to Path 1.
  13. Well, ‘death’ is a bit of hyperbole….. But perhaps some people take guitars a bit too seriously…..
  14. What have you been doing so far (at home/studio)? You can compare your Headrush with and without cab emulation now. Choose which sound you would prefer to hear onstage beforehand and ignore what anyone else says.
  15. I believe he’s referring to the golden guitar pick that is displayed alongside a preset that was purchased in Helix Marketplace. It indicates that the preset is protected and needs authorization. Your Line 6 account knows that you own the asset (or not) so you need to login to your Line 6 account within Helix Native to gain authorization. If your Line 6 account does not reflect your ownership the preset cannot be accessed.
  16. Check your Input setting for the Customtone presets. Make sure it includes the physical input you are using. Also check the Vol pedal position if the preset contains a Vol block.
  17. It seems your sad card is not being recognized. Have you prepared your sd card for recording per the instructions in the manual (pg. 20)? … or here….
  18. Doesn’t sound silly at all. Mic’ing an amp was all there was in the analog world. Not surprising that you would like the sound. There’s no right or wrong about FX to use; whatever sounds good to you is best for you. And Helix gives you tons (sometimes too much) flexibility in trying out different FX. For maximum flexibility in terms of FX placement I suggest you look into the 4CM setup (if your amp has an FX Loop). That way you can mic your amp with specified FX in front of the amp and others post-amp.
  19. It’s because every speaker/headphone has its own sonic characteristics, even if they specify FRFR, or PA. As I understand it, Full Range Flat Response means, as you note, that the full frequency range of human hearing is covered (20Hz - 20MHz). But within that range each speaker has its own frequency curve where some frequencies are more or less prominent. Sounds like your speakers emphasize frequencies that are a bit lower than the frequencies your headphones emphasize. Same with microphones: some are better for vocals, some for guitar cabinets (SM58 vs. 57 respectively). To demonstrate this bring your playlist to any audio store that sells a range of PA speakers and headphones. Try them all. No two will sound identical although you may need sensitive ears to distinguish some. There are many threads here that describe the preference of many users to maintain two different setlists of the ‘same’ presets, one tweaked for their specific headphones and one for their specific speakers.
  20. Yes, that's very likely. A post-installation device reset is part of the recommended firmware update procedures.
  21. Are you certain the the guitar signal is processed in Path 2? Both paths are stereo so by default you will hear the guitar in both L and R outputs even though it is only being processed in Path 1.
  22. The suggestion might just be for MIDI CC to control the Up/Down switches. Their function is determined in Global Settings: Bank, Preset, or Snapshot.
