Tboneous
I think we are having two different conversations. Isn't this an amp in front of the mixer with two paths? http://www.dueymoore.com/amp-settings.jpg
pianoguyy
ok, technically, that has two paths But it is not what most people think of when they talk it or, well, at least, in my case, it is not what I think of.
Tboneous
Ok. Please share. Im down to learn something new. what am I missing?
pianoguyy
To me, that is a single path with a stereo out. Which is different than two paths -- even though, yes, you can build fx in each. Really, we're just splitting hairs.
NucleusX
The way I understand the POD terminologies is as follows. Path = 1 stereo pair. Which can be maintained stereo from the beginning to end of a signal path, IF, the selected effects are stereo themselves. Otherwise, a mono effect will sum the stereo pair to mono. Path's = 2 stereo pairs. Typically refers to the "dual tone" capability that the POD HD has for creating a section in the signal chain, where the ampsims or effects are parallel to each other, and usually terminates at the mixer as 2 channels, in mono or stereo, depending on selected FX. The POD HD500/X HD Pro/X are very capable in the routing department once you get your head around it. You can find detailed images of the POD HD's routing schematics floating around the forum somewhere.

brue58ski
I had no idea you could put the amp after the mixer. I don't know what I'd use it for yet, but I learned something new today.
brue58ski
Me too. I tried to start a similar thead about a year ago and it went nowhere. It's funny, the "Line 6 sucks and I'm leaving" threads where people call each other "A-holes" seem to go on forever but a thread that asks for creative participation, a sharing of tone, strategy and musical process has a hard time getting traction. That to me is very unfortunate. Thanx for the kind words! Keep the tones coming! It seems like lately, those threads have diminished. I guess most everyone who was going to leave, has. grandinq
I have been following this thread for awhile, and it is great hearing the tones people have made. This is what it's all about. I went the DT25 route, so I don't have many direct tones for the Pod. I just love the DT25 tones, but then the challenge is capturing that to record. I haven't been blown away by the direct out on the DT25 for recording, though I could see it being handy in a live setting. Thus, I've been working on miking up the DT25. This is my best result from using an e609 on my DT25: https://soundcloud.com/pat-connor-4/dt25-on-brit-75-recorded-with Guitar is a PRS McCarty.

duncann
very nice! What fx are you using on the DAW track? While it is flattering that one may think of me as an omniscient being for knowing minute details about a song I have nothing to do with, I am not. Though I admit such a thing would be a rather nice ability. I believe the post you're responding to is this one: I have been following this thread for awhile, and it is great hearing the tones people have made. This is what it's all about. grandinq
very nice! What fx are you using on the DAW track? So I will reply to this, since duncann does not have the omniscient abilities he would need ;) I use Cubase 5, and there are no fx from Cubase on the guitar tracks. I miked up my DT25 with a Sennhesier e609. The mic went into a very basic ART preamp. There are two rhythm tracks. Each uses the same pod patch, which is based on the Park model with the Park cab and tube distortion. I need to get some ;yrics on the chorus part, which is the basic riff you hear at the start in 6/4. Right now I am still calling it "Glove Fashion Show" because my kid starting singing those words to it one time. Unfortunately, I am having a hard time getting past those non-sensical words. Use the words, listen to your kid. It sounds like he/she knows about this stuff. Non-sensical they may seem, but they also invoke a sense of curiosity. It's different from normal expectations. Indianrock2020
Short demo of line 6 overdrive into AC30 TB ( ignore the noodling in the middle I was just trying to get a crunchy rhythm sound ). You can faintly hear Sheryl Crow's Real Gone in the background. https://soundcloud.com/indianrock-1/sheryl-crow-real-goneclip I almost always use a noise gate up front, some sort of delay and hall reverb. Usually I have a parametric EQ tied to the OD footswitch to notch out tones I don't like. For some reason I keep going back to the Vox AC30 -- the ODs I've been trying don't seem to fit well with other amp models -- at least to my ears. Tboneous
Got another one. Don't know if it is my best tone But It is the first time I used the Park amp. All guitar work is 1 patch with me switching on and off fx and rolling the volume on my guitar up and down. Never did understand why one would need 4 different amps in 4 different patches for 1 song when 1 patch with one amp can do quite a bit. https://soundcloud.com/terry-sanders-14/darby
