brue58ski
I have created a file that, when replaced in the HD500 or 500X edit pograms will give you the real names of amps cabs and FX. Thought some of you might like to try it. Now because of space limitations, some of the abbreviations my seem a bit weird but hey, I did this for me. For the cabs, I tried to have the brand, the number and size of the speakers and the speakers model numbers. In the FX, some were "inspired" by the effect and in that case I put Insp. in the title. For example, there is an MXR Phase 90 and an MXR Phase 90 Insp. How to do this. First, THIS IS CRITICAL. Change the extension of the attached file from txt to lang. So the file is PODX4Edit.txt. Change it to PODX4Edit.lang Next find the res folder in the POD HD500 Edit or POD HD500X Edit folders. These folders are in the Line 6 folder which is in the Program Files folder or Program Files (x86) folder. The possible paths specifically are: C:\Program Files\Line 6\POD HD500 Edit\res and C:\Program Files\Line 6\POD HD500X Edit\res OR C:\Program Files (x86)\Line 6\POD HD500 Edit\res and C:\Program Files (x86)\Line 6\POD HD500X Edit\res Copy the original PODX4Edit.lang found in the res folder and save it somewhere else. Now replace the original PODX4Edit.lang file with the PODX4Edit.txt file that you renamed to PODX4Edit.lang. Each Edit folder, HD500 and HD500X can use the same file. Here's the usual USE AT YOUR OWN RISK disclaiimer but I've been using it in both edit programs with no problems. And if you don't like it, put the original PODX4Edit.lang back in the folder. Enjoy.

pianoguyy
I know the answer to this, but please answer for everyone reading so that no one gets confused with what is actually happening: Assuming that I do not use your file: If you give me one of your patches - what will it appear when I load your patch to my machine? And vice versa. If I give you my patch, what shows on YOUR machine.
brue58ski
I know the answer to this, but please answer for everyone reading so that no one gets confused with what is actually happening: Assuming that I do not use your file: If you give me one of your patches - what will it appear when I load your patch to my machine? And vice versa. If I give you my patch, what shows on YOUR machine. The file only provides your particular program on your particular machine with the names it has in it. So, for example, a patch created in my Edit program on my computer, will still show the original names that Line 6 created on any other computer that has the original file in it. It only provides your program on your particular computer with the names of everything. So if I create a patch in my HD Edit progam that has my file with the real amp/cab/FX names, if you haven't replaced the file with mine, it will still show the original Line 6 names on your computer. And any patch you have created on your HD Edit program will, on my computer, show the names I personally created, since I have replaced the file with mine. This also doesnt' in any way change what you'll see on your unit or affect it in anyway. I hope that makes sense.
pianoguyy
So, in computer terms, it is local, not global. Which means --- If you changed Marshall to say Weiner Mobile. Any patch that uses Marshall will show up as Weiner Mobile on my pc. But it will still show up as Marshall everywhere else. And this is only the EDIT program, not the Pod. The Pod will still show Marshall, not Weiner Mobile. Someone could have fun with that. LOL *The Oscar Mayer Weiner Mobile was just on the news. cclement
If you changed Marshall to say Weiner Mobile. Any patch that uses Marshall will show up as Weiner Mobile on my pc. But it will still show up as Marshall everywhere else. And this is only the EDIT program, not the Pod. The Pod will still show Marshall, not Weiner Mobile. The '68 Wiener Mobile had much better sound than what's driving around today.

pianoguyy
is it for the latest 2.6x only or for any version of edit? It should work for the last few versions. If you are back on like 1.4 or something- --- there are probably a few things in there that would be different. But you can do the same thing on your own, without using his file regardless of what version you have. Like I said -- Weiner Mobile
malhavok
Here is my update to the file. It includes full rename of all the amps and minor tweaks to cab naming. I like the speaker config to still be first and for the amps to show the years where available. All the fx are the same.
